hi there,

bit of an strange one here but not sure if it can work, then again, man got to the moon after all!

anyway.

I'm working on a time based project now using a Mac and flash 8. All i want to do is display the users (mine) clock on the centre of the stage.

I would like it as a live screen shot, with live updates, with magnification, and yes, i'll be expecting pixelation.

Does anyone know the code for this at all?

I've attached a static jpg of roughly what i would like it too look like.

Screen Capture?
Hey everyone.
I was wondering if there was anyway to do a "Print Screen" type command within flash which would then allow someone to manipulate the users screen. For example, having an animated character jump on the IE scrollbar and drag it down with him on it...kinda dumb example I guess. But I really want to be able to take a screen shot and import it somehow into Flash (fullscreen). Does any of this make sence? I know Ive heard of Flash caturing TOOLS...but it there any actionscript or components around. This doesnt seem to be a hard task when you think of it. Hit me back. Any suggestions are cool.

AS3 Screen Capture App?
Hello.

Not sure if that title is correct. I'm wondering if there is any way in Flash to capture a selection of the screen and save that selection as a JPEG? Basically I have an app that allows people to make animals for body parts, I'd like the user to be able to save the animal out as a JPEG.

Screen Capture Avi - HELP
Hello All.

Please someone out there must know the best answer to my problem:

I need to create a presentation to be used as a trainning guide.

I am flexible (to a degree) on how to do this, although the tools in my bag mean that i have used SnagIt to capture the screen in an .avi format. this looks great when played no probs.
When I add this avi to a flash file (basic, which has a control for the film and a frame etc) I can publish this to a swf file, again all seems well, I can then embedd this into a powerpoint presentation ok.

This all works ok, except for a blur between screen changes and new windows, they seem to start blurred and then scharpen up.

My real problem is the Screen Resolution when playing this presentation back on different P.C's.
As we all know every user has diferent seetings. So how can I cater for them all????
I read somewhere that it is best to capture the film at the lowest possible screen res and it will destort going up, although not as bad as he reverse.

So please can anyone gide me through this???

As I say the video contains lots of test which is simply unreadable using the process above.
i have played with changing the codec which just made the film Super Size........

Hi everyone,

I want to send a video stream from C# to FMS(with network layer and all that stuff) is it possible? If not, can I send byte array to Flash9 with ExternalInterface, put this data into a NetStream object and publish to FMS? What I try to do is a screen capture(this part is working) and stream data with FMS capabilities. I don't want commercial solution like ScreenJax...

If anybody has a clue(original idea are welcome to..) please post it... any help would be greatly appreciate!!

In Generator, I could just script Gen2 to publish in .jpg, and it would capture the current state of the Flash movie, and save it to a file for me. But that was server-side...

What I need to do, is be able to grab an image of the client's view of the Flash movie... kinda like print, but print screen...

I am doing a dynamic application that will eventually go to the web, which requires being able to email your snapshot (created dynamically) to a friend...

Has anyone heard of doing this? If not with Flash, how 'bout ASP, XML, PHP, anything?

Prevent Screen Capture
Hi everyone,

Im trying to protect images from being captured. Im building the entire portfolio in flash. I've disabled the print options from the flash menu. I've placed action script in the flash movie to load a movie on top of the pic in the event that flash file finds its way to another server.

The next step was to prevent a screen capture. I placed a blank frame in frame #2 and the pic in frame #1 I was trying to figure out how to get the flash movie to go to frame #2 (the blank frame) on a key press event. Im not having any luck on the <prt screen> Key... Any suggestions?

Standalone With Screen Capture?
Is it possible to capture the screen of the user's computer (ie, the background depends on the user's screen), while he is playing the swf with standalone player?

If it's to tough to do it by flash 5, can i do it by director 8, and how?

Screen Capture From Within Flash
I would like to be able to capture the users screen from within a Flash projecter that I will then use to create a screensaver that "takes over" their desktop. This effect is often used in non flash based screensavers, but I was wandering if there is any way I could do it from within flash.

Snagit Screen Capture
I am having difficulty. I am trying to put up some examples of my portfolio using snagit. When I capture one page of my site and bring it into photoshop, change resolution to 72, resize it to w=280px h=225px, save as .jpg and bring it into Flash- it looks all pixelated- quality is soooooo poor.

What am I doing incorrectly? There has got to be a way- I am definitely missing something!

hello all, i am trying to capture my swf movie as it plays using camtasia and it is dropping frames. i have set it to record at the same frame rate of my movie.

does anyone have any ideas? programs to use? my swf has some animations that are getting frames dropped and look choppy, thanks!!

Can A Screen Capture Be Emailed?
We're working on a flash project, and we've hit a wall - no one seems to know the answer to this question at all. I hope someone can help.

Is there a way I can set up a game to automatically capture the user's screen at the start? Is there just a way to have their computer perform the Mac OSX Cmd+Shft+3 function from inside the code? Any ideas would help, thanks.

I am currently creating a quiz for my client, but the client needs the score recorded in some way...

I was wondering if it is possible to creat a button via actionscipt that the student can click on at the end of the quiz, that captures the final page of the *.swf. and saves it to the same file the quiz is in, as this will be distributed on a flash/memory stick.

This being the score, number of incorrect and correct answers etc.

Is this possible?

Any other suggestions?

Screen Capture With ActionScript
Dear all,

As most of previous posts, I've client application written by flash which enable user to create some mind map. Certainly, a screen snapshot of the mind map for a thumbnail to png or jpeg and uploading to server are necessary features. My developing environment is flash, FMS, Apache, PHP and MySQL.

After searching Google and this forum, I found three options available with it's limitation:

1. Use third party fake web cam driver (monitor pretending web cam) but which induce the cost of buying the driver. I just wonder if flash 8 can include another class for monitor just like the web cam.

2. With Flash 8, use BitmapData class and post the pixel data. It's too horrible if you've a few hundred users.

3. Writing some plugin to do the screen capture and communicate either with the client flash or directly to the PHP server. In my project, I prefer the plugin (e.g. written by Java) to communicate with flash. As the flash application now already use XML to communicate with the PHP server, I would like to use XML to communicate between Java and Flash. I haven't check details for the Java documentation, I just assume it'll work.

May be the most practical way is to direct the user to print screen and save the file as jpeg or png. However, we developer should develop usability. Can anyone suggest some better way to do it? Is there any class or tools exist in FMS can make the job better done? I'm new to FMS.

Disable Screen Capture?
I'm trying to prevent screen capture of some copyrighted images displayed in a Flash Web site. I've tried using onKeypress "prt scr", and jumping to a frame in the timeline where the image isn't displayed, as the Print Screen key is the most commonly used for capturing from image editing programs. But that key option doesn't seem to be available. Any suggestions?

anyone know of a way to give a user the option to "save" configurations they have made to an interactive flash movie?

Example: Picture of car > I change tires > I change paint > I change wheels > now I want to save the image I created as a jpg on my local machine.

Does Flash have the capacity to capture an swf in a live state...or do I have to build a database (yuk)

is there way to have a screenshot from the video preload before the play is hit? i'm working with streaming flv's.

further explanation:

the video player i'm working doesn't automatically play. i'd like the first screen my users see be a shot that is at the midway point of the video. like i said, i'm working from a streaming server, so if that's not possible, its completely understandable.

I have managed to create a little swf with some actionscripting that allows a user to drag and drop miscellaneous objects to arrange them into various shapes and designs. I would like the user to be able click a button and save their design/image. Having them do a screen capture isnt an option. Is it possible to convert the 'current' frame of a flash movie into a jpeg (or any other format)? If I can accomplish this, the next step would be to click a button to email the image, or save it to the user's local drive. Thanks in advance for any help!

Capture Area Of Screen And Paste Into MC
I have a camera game with a view-finder that moves around an image made up of movie clips. when the shutter is released I want to capture whatever is in the view-finder. I could capture all the co-ordinates of the elements and recomposite them in the gallery thumbnail but that would require an enormous amount of processor power and the game is already struggling with the large vector illustrations.
Flash must 'know' what is in the view-finder because it is drawing to the screen 12 time a second. Is there any way to ask flash for the pixel data it is sending to the operating system, so I can just paste a small bitmap into the gallery?

[f8] Screen Capture And Saving Image
This is a long shot, but is there a way to "save" an image of what's on the screen using flash? I've got a game "Payoff" screen and I'd like to see if I can either "print this page" or "save to your desktop" Maybe even set the pixel width and height?

Again, there's probably a lot more to do here than just an easy fix, but I thought I'd ask.

What I would like to do is capture what is currently visible (its a 2000 pixel wide vector image and a 766 by 700 stage), I guess use the bitmap class, create a movieclip to put that capture into it, to then blur it with the FMP filter kit (http://www.flash-fmp.de/):

Hi,
When I screen capture [using RoBo ScreenCapture] either web pages off the Net, or dialog boxes of programs [I'm using Flash for a presentation instead of PP] the images are pixelated or fuzzy or well, not good enough.
Let me explain In using RoBo, I make the capture at the highest Jpeg resolution possible. When I bring the jpeg into Flash [import directly into Library] and bring on the stage, I have to resize the image because it is too big for the stage [being 800X600]. The projector I will be using for the presentation is 800X600.so I set the stage for that.
When I publish the file and review it [setting my monitor to 800X600] the images look terrible.
Maybe I should explain that when I do the screen captures at first, my monitor is set at 1600X1200.
Should I set it at 800X600 when doing the captures first? I mean, does this affect the final output of the resolution of the jpg's when they are placed in Flash after the capture and import into the Library?
I have had to make captures of web pages, so I have my monitor set at 1600X1200 normally so I can get the most real estate on the screen as possible. I make the screen captures using that monitor setting. But I have my Flash movie stage set at 800X600.
My questions are:
1. Should I do the captures with the monitor set at 800X600 if the Flash stage is 800X600? If so, why?
2. If the projector resolution is 800X600, can I set my Flash stage at a higher size [resolution], say 1024X768? Will that actually affect the resolution when the Flash movie is projected on a projector with an 800X600 resolution if the Flash movie stage is larger?
3. What affects the final resolution output of the BMP images [jpeg's] in Flash for a presentation like I am doing?
4. What size should I capture the images at so I don't have to resize them in Flash?

WHAH! I just want this presentation to be successful. It's a training session on educating folks on computer virus prevention/protection from and ID theft, something this world is in dire need of!

Printing A4 Sized Screen Capture
Hi Guys

I'm new to this type of thing and have managed to get myself stuck on something most of you wouldn't give a second thought to and am simply asking, can anyone help a newbie out?

In an 800x600 screen size I'm trying to select part of a screen (i.e. 450x600) and get this to print in full A4 size. I've set up a button with the onRelease print command but whenever I print, it gives me a very small printout area.

Can anyone please help with the correct coding on this?

Basically what I want is to print an A4 certificate after viewing a training presenation in Captivate so any help on this coding issue would be very much appreciated so I can get a professional look to my very first project.

I am in search of a software that can be used to capture screens for demo purposes. Right now I use Camtasia Studios which can do the job but there is no way of reducing the file size. Screen Capture & Paste Onto Stage

With the stage filled with PNGs and dif blend modes, I've noticed the performance issue becoming appearant. So, I'm wondering if there is any way I can maybe take a screenshot of the statge(with all that still & transparent stuff) and turn it into a large bitmap.

Function To Screen Capture Stage?
If I create a swf to run in a browser that allows the user to draw on the stage, is there a way to create a function that would save what they draw (basically, the stage area) as a jpg or something to their desktop? In other words, is there a way in AS3 to write a function that would screen grab only the stage? It doesn't even have to save it to the desktop, but maybe save it to their clipboard?
