Embedding A Flash Movie
Simple request.... Wanted to embed a flash movie on an ezboard account as a custom signature. anyone ever do this? As of right now i cant get the /embed command to work.. I get a white box to show but the movie doesn't play... maybe i have the command wrong. anyone have the slightest idea as to what im doing wrong.. Im sure ill smack myself when i finally figure it out.

Embedding A Movie Into A Flash Doc
I am trying to create a brochure cd using flash as an exe file. There is a avi movie in the file (23mb). When I auto run the cd on my computer and two other computers in plant it works fine. But when I try to run it on some of the slower computers the file does not load correctly. ie some of the buttons dont work and the movie only plays a couple of seconds.
I think the file might be too large and is not loading before it is playing. Could this be the problem? Is there anyway to link the movie file externally so that the movie still plays in the "doc.exe" Or is the only way to embed the file?

Problem Embedding Movie
It's been 18 months since I used flash- flash 4 back then.

So I've bought myself a copy of mx, and am already getting stuck!

I'm trying to embed a flash movie as a layer, using DIV. The problem is, the movie seems to get cut in two- i.e. cutting half of the movie off. :(

I've set the code to 300x300px - exactly as the movie is, yet its sill cutting it up. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

How hard is it to embed the player into a movie?
Im trying to make it so people with the player can watch my movie. Does it make the file HUGE?

I have a main movie that I want to have displayed immediatly after it is loaded (26.2kb) After that I want content as another movieclip to be loaded but not yet displayed. Sort of embedding the content. On a press on a menuItem the corresponding embedded movieclip should display in a scrollPane.
What is the best way to do this?
All in AS or maybe the embed html tag ?

Also: If you click on a menuitem a fadeFunction loops that lets the color change, but it runs quite slow (It delays the menumovement for example) Is there some way to make it faster or is it just AS/Flash that is so slow (It runs faster when the movie is displayed 100% (actual size) and not streched out to fill the screen, but ... I want it to fill the screen :-/)

I know this is probably really lame but I don't know how to embed a url in a flash movie ad so that it can always be clicked on while playing and take you to an alternate web page. This is for one of those small 150pxl x 120pxl ads like the ones on yahoo?

Embedding WMP Into A Flash Movie
Hi all,

I new to flash and at the moment just learning the basics

I've been reading on the web that it is not possible (easily) to stream an shoutcast brodcast into flash.

I was wondering is it possible to embed Windows Media Player into a Flash movie file and use this for the stream as a workround for now? (i know that i can do this with a normal webpage and a bit of javascripting)

If so, could you communicate with the embeded wmp via flash ActionScript?

Not sure if this is a question for Macromedia users or Adobe users but I need to embed a SWF file into an Acrobat file as an introduction and I've gone to the tutorial that Adobe provides explaining the process

but I wondered if there is a setting I need to do on it in Flash before publishing it because I'm not getting some of the options it mentions:

(Deselect Snap to content proportions.
Select Embed content in document.
Select Retrieve poster from movie.)

Which I am guessing are important to get the movie to show up in there. These options are grayed out.

Embedding Fonts Slows Down The Movie
Hi,

I have a problem with a site I'm putting together.

I want to use an embedded font, but only so I can display the content of the site in a font that the end-user might not have on their machine. I don't need any of the other abilities that using an embedded font on text boxes gives me.

As soon as I use an embedded font, my site slows down to a crawl (I have a scrolling text box displaying a large amount of content). If I go back to using non-embedded fonts everything is fine speed-wise, but then my site will be displayed in ugly Times New Roman if the user doesn't have the font I've specified.

I hope I'm missing something really obvious here! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Accessibility Issue In Embedding Movie?

In DW I am getting an error when I check for accessibility. It reads:
'The page contains OBJECT elements without a valid description between the <OBJECT> and </OBJECT> tags.

I have put in a title for the movie, access key and key tab but I am supposed to put in another tag to describe the content? Any ideas as to what?

HELP : Embedding Fancy Fonts To Your MOVIE
Hello,

I tried to do what this tutorial for embedding fonts on your movies. http://www.flash-mx.com/news/archives/000136.cfm but it's kinda complicated.

Is there any other way in MX 2004 to embed FONTS to your movie so that other viewers who do not have the fonts can still see the way you are seeing the animations?

Embedding Buttons In Movie Clips
Hello Everyone,

I am an intermediate Flash user with a question: I am creating an entire Flash site by linking between scenes. However, the buttons that take the user between scenes are embedded in a Movie Clip (I did this so that I could manipulate the clip's alpha transparency for a fade effect. Anyway, I am wondering if this affects the functionality of the buttons, or if there is something else I'm doing wrong. The buttons don't take me anywhere... am I not allowed to have them embedded in a movie clip?

Any help would be appreciated.

Embedding SWF Movie With Manual Play
A newbie here. I want to embed a SWF movie on my web page, and have some questions:

1) When the Adobe Flash Player is called up, its settings automatically start the movie. Is there a way to change these settings so that when a third-party accesses the page, I can direct the visitor to right-click to start play manually? Is there a way to delay the start until a significant portion of the buffering is attained?

2) I'm working in GoLive and Macromedia Pro 8. I've learned that in Dreamweaver, the designer can easily create a media skin with controls that will attach to the swf movie file. Is there a way to do the same thing in GoLive with the swf object palette?

3)I've tried to create the manual play button in Flash 8, but for some reason the button does not travel and function with the published swf file.

4)In the end, all I need is a simple Youtube-like skin to start the movie, but accomplishing this with a swf has proven more difficult than it probably should be.

Any insight on these would be greatly appreciated.

Embedding The Flash Movie Into A Site Frame
Ok I made a really good project for somebody. His site is located at www.socom2xtreme.com and I have made him a banner for the top since the one there now is ugly. But does any1 know how to embed it in there to fit? Do I just use the same embedding html as the one I publish or does it have to be a bit different to make it fit into that site?

Embedding And Playing Swf Movie File In A Director Exe.
I am designing a CD in Director MX 2004. I have embedded a flash movie(.swf) in the director file.
This swf is 350 frames long and I have the actual director starting at 352.

My problem is when I play the whole show, the swf stops somewhere midway and jumps to the "Main menu" page in Director. OR sometimes even after playing the animation, there's a gap of around 100 frames before jumping to director. I am trying to figure out a way to have a script in the flash movie that lets the director timeline wait until the animation is over and then go on the 352nd frame.

Also, is there any way to have the "Skip Intro" button on the swf and script it in such a way that after cliking on it, it goes on the "Main menu" screen created in a Director file.

If nothing is possible, is there a way of keeping flash and director projectors in a folder and have an AUTORUN file that first plays the flash and then goes to Director ?

Any idea how to do it?

im trying to make an application in my flash site where my visitors can watch my youtube movies within my site... But its all flash. Now ive tried the old Loadmovie but it seems to load the youtube file twice the size all the time.

Then when i try to resize it, the quality drops (transparant cubes all over the place)

Has anyone succesfully embedded youtube files inside flash movies with ease?

Embedding The Same Font In Multiple Movie Clips
Hi all,

I have several movie clips within the same SWF containing static text.

They are being used as masks, so I am having to embed the font outlines in order for them to work. I am having to do this with each movie clip.

My question is, will the outlines be saved multiple times, or is Flash smart enough to realise it's already got those outlines?

MX 2004 - Embedding Images/movie Clips In Textfields
Does anybody know if the new version of flash will allow use of the img HTML tag in html textfields? I.e let you put an image or movieclip inside the textfield.

If you think this is an odd request there is a good reason for it - emoticons. I read recently a rumour that img would be supported. At the moment the only way to embed emoticons in line is via very very complicated scripting or creating your own font, the latter though easier is restricting when you consider the graphical capabilities of flash outside of textfields.

Image Maps And Embedding HTML Onto Flash Movie
I know how tto embed a Flash movie into an HTML page. How do i embed an HTML page into a Flash move?

I created an image map in HTML because i didnt know how to do it in Flash5.
The rest of the movie is done in Flash, including the navigation bar. The Flash-implemented navigation bar on the top of the page remains static. When a link is clicked, various movie clips are loaded in the bottom 3/4 (main body) of the page . Is there a way to load the HTML page (with image map) into the main body of my page when the relavant link is clicked? Or is there an alternate way of doing this (say, like converting the image map into a Flash movie clip?)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Embedding SWF Into HTML Page Stops Load Movie Function
I have a FLA with numerous external SWF's loaded simply by using code like this on a button:

_root.pattern.loadMovie("ss304.swf");
}

This works perfect when I test the movie and when I publish the movie. However, when I embed the SWF into a HTML page, the external SWF's no longer load. All the files are in the same directory.

Any idea how to solve this?

Button - Embedding Font Issue W/Mask Into Loaded Movie
I have a CS3/AS3 button that is behind a mask. If I embed the font, the button label appears without a problem. However, when this SWF gets loaded into another movie, the button label is no longer visible. I followed this example - http://blogs.adobe.com/pdehaan/2008/..._with_the.html, for embedding the fonts, and was able to reproduce my issue with his example as well.

Can someone provide some insight on how to resolve this issue.

Hi, I am working on a project where i have a main movie that pulls multiple pages into a mc depending on what navigation button you choose. I'd like to only have to embed the font i'm using in this main movie and it work for the movies im pulling into the mc. Is this possible. Also all the textfields are dynamic..

Embedding Smart Clips In Movie Clips Causes Crashes...?
i noticed that if you use more than one of those drop-down menu smart clip in the common library, you can't see all the choices...

e.g.
drop in one instance
then another directly below it.
publish the movie
select the third or fourth choice from the second drop-down
let go so that your choice is selected
now re-select the second drop-down menu...
the other choices are hidden by the menu above it.

this is also the case if you try the procedure in reverse...
i.e. if the second instance is on a higher z-plane, the choices in the first will be hidden.

it seemed logical to drop the smart clip into a movie clip then use mc.swapDepth to set the z-index

got swapDepth working perfectly

but as soon as you put an instance of the smart clip into a movie clip, flash (5 for mac, PPC, OS 9.1, g4 466, 384MB) crashes as soon as you try to publish/export/test movie.

i tried it in a button as well... same thing

i've been trying to rebuild the menu in a normal movie clip form but it seems like more pain than it's probably worth...

any suggestions?

In my Flash movie I have a text box in which I have "Render as HTML" selected. Now, when I add HTML elements to it, such as:

Am having problems viewing my site in Netscape. Have been advised to 'embed' the movie into the page. I think it's already embedded but can someone give me information on how to embed the movie into the page. I'm currently using the default set up when you publish a page in Flash 4. PLEASE Embedding A Swf Into A New .FLA
Hey - Amateur, I know, but I'm creating a new .FLA and I have an existing .SWF I want to incorporate into it. It has several movie clips (existing FLA)and I want to bring it all into my new .SWF Is there a way to grab and embed it without partially copying/recreating blah blah blah...For example let's say it's an swf of a flower growing, dying and growing again. I just want to import it into my new FLA, shrink it and place it into the corner. (Unfortunately it has a lot of action so there are 8 movie clips to it and not just simple animation lines...)

Embedding In .ppt HELP
I started by taking video I want in a PowerPoint slide and importing it into MX. Once I had everything visually the way I want it I exported it as a .swf file.
I now open PowerPoint. I embed it thru the visual basic toolbar and specify the properties, Loop=false, height, size, and so on.
The problem is that its not reliable.
It works 1/2 the time when played.
And when I can get it to play, if it plays thru once, and I play it a second time, it (the .swf file) is still on the last frame stopped! (Stop action in last frame)
It shouldnt be doing this because the method used to embed it is pathing, so it should pull a fresh version of the file in everytime it gets to that slide, shouldn't it?
I've read here on the tutes that theres another way.
The .exe copy paste method (which i've never done).
Is this way better? I havent tried it yet due to the file size of a projector file with video actually "in" the .ppt file.

Can anyone help!!!???????

I have to do a series of demos that will be used by sales reps to show the functionality and benefits of a series of online products - but the demos have to be able to function offline....I can open up a new window from my movie which will open up mini site...but can I do it so it works from within the movie??

Embedding An Swf In An Swf
I have succesfully embedded an swf into another swf, however the embedded swf is not working properly. It has its on navigation and it does not seem to work corectly. Do the paths on my buttons (embedded swf's) work only with that swf, or do they go all the way out to the root of the main swf that hosts the embedded one? also the embedded swf contains text which is in a dynamic text field. the text does not show up when the swf is viewed inside the other. you can see it just fine when the swf is viewed alone....

I am making a slideshow and I am creating a seperate movies for the images. How do I load the images into the movie lets say it is images.swf. How would make it to where that loads in a specific place in my main.swf

please help by describing how (or direct me to a tutorial where i can learn to) embed a swf in an fla.

my project is a slide show of sorts (scrolling right to left with "next" button) made up of several images. i would like to, however, drop a couple of short swf movies in the mix. is there a way to do this?

i figure there would be a way - and though i'm not savvy to all of the ins and outs, i would like to know if a "still" of one of these movies could slide into place and act as a "play" button that would activate the embedded swf.
