Exporting Text From A Dynamic Text Field To A .txt File
Hi

I posted a plea for help about a month ago on how I should go about searching text in another swf file. I solved that, with a little help from the forums, but I still need to do one more thing. Only 1 swf file (or page, since this is a website) is loaded at a time so I cannot search every page for a word or phrase. So what I want to do is somehow export the text in all my dynamic text fields when I export the swf file (only when I export it) which my main frame for the website can read. But I don't have a clue how to do this. I have written some code to read a .txt file so all I need is to somehow put the text from my pages into a .txt file on export. Alternatively I could copy and paste the text from each page into a readme file, but I don't want to have to update 2 sources for my website at once!

Thanks for your help; I wouldn't be able to survive without these forums

Exporting XY Coordinates To Text File
Hi,

My client is asking us to to create a way that someone can access a web site that shows brochure design proof, click some on the graphic to indicate where a change needs to be made, type a note explaining what changes need to be made to that area, and some how send it to a text file that we can read or better yet, have flash load and recreate it on our end.
The text file basically has to tell us where on the image the change needs to take place, and what the change is. If it is possible to have flash read the text file using some form of load variable and recreate the changes they indicate, that would be great.

They are trying to get around the time needed to print, fax (or mail), recieve, change resend, etc....

Thanks so much for any ideas on how (if) this can be done.

Take care,

icywings

Exporting Entire Actionscript As Text File?
Is it possible to export ALL the actionscript in a flash movie as a single text file?

I mean everything - all the script from each and every mc or button in the entire movie - in one process?

I've got a few movies with hundreds of clips and buttons, and trying to use the movie explorer to search for every instance of a particular piece of text, or variable name, or whatever, is VERY time consuming.

Many thanks in advance for any insight or advice!

Exporting/Creating A File From An Swf
I am working on a system in which people can use to customize a file. Once they have a dragged and dropped objects onto a template and are done, I need to have a "submit" that will capture what they have built and actually make a file which would be emailed to someone. If it could write a PDF, JPG or
SWf that would be great, but an AI would even better (I don't think this is possbile though...). Either way, it basically needs to save the user's creation and actually make a file of what they have done. I know that this is probably extensive, but I'm not sure how to go about it.... any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The most important thing is that I capture the dimensions and/or properties of the objects once they have been placed, any clues on how to go about this using variables...

Thanks!

Exporting Flash File
Hi everyone,

As part of my project work, I have to export my flash file into an Excel spread sheet. Is there anyway i can do that?

Thanks in advance

Problem With Exporting To A TXT File.
Ok, here's the thing.
I have a dynamic text block.
The dynamic text block is html formatted.
This text block gets exported via php to a .txt file.

When flash exports the contents of the html formatted text block, it replaces all apostrophes ' with it's html code '

Now here's the catch, i re-import into flash the contents of this .txt file, and my variable is cut off due to the ampersand in the ' code. So instead of my read out saying:

Hey yo! What's up?

It says:

Hey yo! What

Now the question:
So, with actionscript, how do you control how flash exports HTML characters? (so that apostrophes are exported as apostrophes and not as their html code). Turning off the html formatting on this text block is not an option.

Thanx for any help!!

ok, so i have this presentation and i can't get the thign to export right. i have done various presentations in this format and never had any trouble. so i'm seeing if anyone here has the answer and i'm willing ot pay 50.00 in paypal to the winner!

The Problem: when i export it it does not load the movie and play, if i delete scences 10 and 11 then it plays just fine, i have tried recreating the project, adding sceneces 10 and 11 right after 9 all to no avail. i have also tried totally cutting and pasting the frames into another fla file and get the same results.

the fla is here:http://www.video-guy.com/forums/setup.zip [27meg]

and the audio files are here: http://www.video-guy.com/forums/audio.zip [16meg]
(although they are already embeded in the fla)

any help would be appreciated.

if the reward is a flashkit no no, then i'll glady exchange some video work since that is my primary level of expertiese.

Exporting Fonts With File
I read somewhere that if I used specialty fonts that I could embed them or export them somehow
with the file so that the file would display as it was created. The down side was that it balloons the
file so that normally it is not recommended. Trouble is I can't find the information that I read.

Can anyone advise

Exporting To Video File
Hey everybody. I made an intro for a movie in Flash. It involves a movie clip that plays over and over. However, it only does this in Flash or as an SWF file. When it is made into a WMV, i guess it can't read flash language, so the movie clip doesnt repeat. So what i'm asking is does anyone know how to export it into a video file that will give me the same thing i'm seeing played in Flash? I tried screen capture but it was bad quality and I'm sure there has to be a better way... Any ideas? Thanks.

Trouble Exporting A GIF File, Please Help Me
Hey guys, I'm having a bit of trouble exporting a GIF file that I have created, it's probably really simple, but I have no idea.

This is the exported file http://b.imagehost.org/0258/25.gif as you can see the banner is there but you can't see it.

Any thoughts, also it's strange because if I import files from photoshop it exports in GIF format, but this was created solely in Flash and it's all text.

Thanks for any help.

I have designed my own new wbesite completely in Flash. I have a main and copied them 12 times for different scens. Now i can't export the .fla into a .swf, it takes like hours to load it. I have a background with pitcure, weight 125kb. When I only work on the mainscene, without copying them it exports wih no problems.

I have deleted the background but nothing changes. Could it be the effects? I have loads of buttons, rolling text etc.

Can anybody give some advise?

Is It Possible To Compress When Exporting As Swf-file?
I wonder if it's possible to use different compressing settings when exporting a file for web use, so that the file can be made lighter or heavier?

Exporting Flash As An .exe File
Ok... everytime I buy a new CD that has the "Enhanced CD" logo I get all jittery to see what the content is. Most often, the content is a simple autorun textfile that redirects to a Macromedia Projector Application file. Now, I'm relatively sure that Projector files come out of Macromedia Director software. So here's the question... Can I create these same applications in Flash. If so, how do I successfully add the .exe extension to the Flash file. Is this something which requires the use of Extension Manager?

Exporting Huge File From Mac For Pc
I made a huge presentation in flash which is about 115MB. It was built on a mac, but will be projected from a laptop which is a pc. Currently, I exported the movie as a quicktime movie, so it has a .mov extension. When transferred on a pc, quicktime doesn't recognize the file, and windows media player doesn't as well.
My question is what is the best method of exporting a huge flash presentation from a mac, so that it can be read on a pc.
For the time being, we opened it in quicktime pro, and exported it as a .avi movie. It seems to work, but the movie seems more choppy. Anyone with experience in this area?

Thanks in advance. This is very important, and i'd like to know before Monday.

Please include specific export settings if possible. I also noticed when I exported it as a .swf file, it was too huge and was taking a very very long time to open.

Exporting Variables To A Local File
I know its possible for Flash to read variables from a text file on a PC, but I can't seem to find a way of exporting variables to a text file on a PC.

I dont particularly understand SEND and POST but assume they are for Servers and Networks, whilst all I'm interested in for this project is a standalone system.

Is it possible?

Exporting Current State Of SWF File?
I have a SWF that lets you choose a color then click the object o the screen to change to that color. Pretty simple stuff, just tell target and instant names.

Anyway, what I need to be able to do is to hav a function where you can take a snapshot of what ever you colored so that it becomes a static image taht can be used on a web page.

Can this be done and how?

Thank you,
