Exporting Publishing While Using Flash
i have created a flash movie to design levels for a game. the primary reason for this is to create an array of values which i will use in another flash movie to create the levels.

i was wondering if i could use some actionscript to export a specific movie within my level maker (while i am testing it using ctrl-enter) to a .swf document. if so, it would save me some time in re-creating the levels inside of my actual game. if i can't do that, i would be happy to export an image, preferably with transparency values such as a high quality 24-bit .png file.

i can't see anything in the documentation which makes me think i could do this, but i thought i'd ask anyway.

Why some of my Flash movies turned into garbage when published as animated gif? They look drastically from the swf. Could someone tell me what is the cause and possibly how to fix it?

Whenever I make something in Flash and try to export/publish ias a gif the animation normally turns out a lot slower than what it should be. (as in the flash file is at 100 fps while the gif decides it should be at 10 fps). Please help ?

Exporting/Publishing As A QT Wont Work
hey! so for my final project, my teacher wants us to hand in a quicktime movie. I did my project in Flash MX and when I export/publish the movie as a qt, it gives me an action failed box. Any help?

I tried publishing it as a PNG sequence, with the idea of opening that up in after effects, then exporting THAT as a QT, but the PNG sequence doesnt use my movie clips in the flash animation.

seeing how this is a Final (due this week), I could really use some ideas/insight into this problem.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

[CS3] Problem With Publishing/Exporting *Both In CS3 And Flash 8*
Ok, i have tried everything i can think of and nothing works.

I began trying to publish my animation on a Mac. In flash 8. I need to export it as a .mov file so i can put it into imovie for further editing, but when i export it half of the library objects i have do not move (Yes they are movie clips, not graphics). For example one scene there is a bird and it is raining, the bird object blinks, but the rain object is still. It is like this throughout the animation. After changing many settings still would not work.

I then took it home and opened it in CS3, first attempt at publishing it it was just the first frame for the whole duration of the movie in green. Second attempt same thing but the colour was correct. I then tried downloading a swf to .mov converter but the quality is horrible. Is there any way around this, or is this a common problem that can be fixed?

Help is really appreciated as this needs to be in .mov format by monday and i have run out of ideas.

Audio Problems In Flash After Exporting/publishing
Hello, I have tried everything to solve this problem, yet I have no idea why it isn't working. Inside of my flash movie, I have several audio files, when played from the library, they are all the same volume, however once I export, some are louder and softer (very noticeable). I am confused to as why this happening once I export. I have tried a number of different things yet I am still lost. PLEASE help me, I'm about to pull my hair out. Thanks in advance :) -Tim

Having been working with Flash now for a few years there is still something that I find unfathomable & hopefully a clear concise reply to this will help me & maybe others.

Question.

What is the best way to publish Flash?

I have always used the percent setting (100%) & made sure that any jpegs I used would be of a quality that will scale up well. I say scale up I use a pretty big monitor I imagine (hope) that if they have to be scaled down they will not look too c**p.

To me there seems to be this elite science among some of the more experienced developers as to how they publish movies. I know the methods of the stage object can come into play such as _width etc., but how the hell do you accommodate all the components of a movie to work out there size & where they should then sit in a browser window? I have checked out other forums posts & articles on this but there seems to a lot of conflicting information.

I have successfully used & understood the swfObject & also have a good handle on HTML having started off programming with that. My best bet is that a movie is published within an HTML frame/table set & the setting of both are tweaked some how. I'm I on the right track & if so what is the current size of browser that I should be looking to publish to?

Publishing Multiple Pngs Or Publishing Movie So It Can Be Imported To Movie Maker.
So I want to enter the Neovision Altador Cup III Contest: "Ready for Fun". I have my animation done in flash, but need to be able to get it into one of the acceptable formats.

.mov, .qt, .mpeg2, .mpeg4, .mpeg, .avi, .wmv, .3gp, and .3gpp

I thought the easiest way would to some how import it into windows movie maker. There I could add sound and compress it into one of the acceptable file formats. Does anyone know how to change swfs or publish movies in a way that could be imported into windows movie maker or to one of the acceptable submission formats.

I have also found that I can publish pngs and import them into windows movie maker. But I can only do one frame in the time line at a time. Seeing as I have probably 800+ frames, is there a faster way to do this?

Is this possible? Say I have a user insert certain text onto a image using flash which would not be hard, but then is it possible to export the image as a jpeg for the user to download? The seems impossible but I figured it might be possible.

This may be a stupid question but how do I correctly publish my flash site, I've done the publish thing and have my html and swf files, loaded them on my server and everything works, but what I don't get is why do I need the HTML pages as they appear blank (obviously done something wrong there) and when I just load up my tested movie files they work fine. So why do I do this publish thing.

I have a flash movie and a number of elements that have linkages, are exported and placed on the stage with actionscript. It seems like these items load at frame 1 of the movie.

Problem is I want to put in some sort of a pre-loader before this but haven't been able to. Seems this first frame has to load before anything else happens. I've tried reversing the orders of the layers and publish settings to this effect but it doesn't do anything.

Is there some sort of way to have a preloader appear before this first frame loads (on the first frame on the stage, there is nothing)? and/or some way to spread this first frame content that has to be loaded over the next couple of frames. Thanks

When getting the html from view source to paste on web page to upload, I noticed the text was not included in the object tags. Pasted anyway and of course nothing shows up on the web page. What am I doing wrong.

i made a little flash animation a want to use as an intro on my site. I made a html file of it and published the site. The html is 676 bytes.

Yet, when i want to look at the published site it takes for ages to load.

How can i help this?

okay, so no one seems to know why I can't publish my flash movie (it says there's an error - access to my hard drive denied!) after trying many things and even re-installing Flash onto my hard drive, it gives me the same darn thing.

Question: If I am placing this in a dreamweaver site, do I absolutely NEED to publish it, or is "export movie" sufficient for uploading? I tried this first, and it ran in Netscape except for a glitch at the end (not sure what caused this!). I am at wit's end. An entire tardy site is ready to go except for this intro flash problem - yikes!!!

Hi Guys. I'm a new and inspiring FLASH developer.
I am running on FLASH 4. I am trying to upload external swfs located in the same directory as my index.htm on the host server. Off line on my hard drive it works like a charm. When I upload it, it just shows the backbround and not the swfs. Please check it out(www.infer-structure.com).

There are 2 swfs that should be playing near the bottom but that are not showing-up.

FOr on-line publishing, do we change the "get movie" parameters to point to the online directory or leave as is and the index.swf will find it?

Please help me. I have double check publish settings, my host company confirmed support for flash, and I have tried pointing to the online diretory (http://www.infer-structure.com/www/counter.swf).

I have a swf which loads 1 onther swf during play back. when i publish it as a projector or .mov it dosen't see the other swf to load and leaves it blank.

I've got a very simple problem but I'm a real beginner(sorry)
I just finished my page on Flash MX and now I want to transform it into an swf file (to publish it), so that I can put it on the Internet. Now When I start the swf-file, my page is desplayed as a completly different movie as when I export the Film, when I got the .fla-file open.
The movie starts for example not at scene1, picture 1 but it starts anywhere in the middle of the page.

then there are some settings which are different from the ones I made an I can't publish my Page at all like that.
Can you explain me exactly what to do, when I want to publish my Page.

Im a little flash retarded and i was wondering how you can isolate your movie, i.e. no titlebar or headers the like. Is this possible and if so should it be done in flash or when burning the cd?

Ok... I'm sure you have heard this all before, but I am a NEWbie... I'm talking raw... just fell outta the tree.... new. New as in, other newbies are pros compared to me (believe me, I've checked out THEIR sites and I am baffled)... Someday I will take a course or something but as for now....

When I publish my movie... (trying to do a website) none of my fade-in's work. They work when I "test scene" (I have Flash 5 by the way) but not when I "test movie". I hope you can follow my rantings. I also tried publishing it and they still don't work. Everything else is working though.

Any help you can provide would be GREATLY appreciated.

hi there,

i just completed a big .fla slideshow with a streaming bit of music (5 minutes). Now the big mistery: whenever i try to publish or export it to quicktime, the quicktime movie seems to be OK but i get no images AND when I hit play, it skips to the end.

Is the .fla just too big (65 MB) or do i overlook something?

When I publish my flash movie and play it in my IE browser, there appears on top and to the left about 1/8" gap. Now I have tried adjusting the html preferences befor publishing but could not see any change.

Is there a way to change this?

i am a gig promoter and have just done a small site in flash. one swf file. the whole site is in really basic . i just used the go to frame label action to navigate the site. i dont really have a clue how to get the site on the web properly. i am able to just put the whole swf into dreamweaver. save it as index and upload the index html and the swf. this works okay.
but what i really want to do is upon reaching the site the user sees a normal html page with two buttons. one saying enter the site and another saying flash is required(clicking on this button it will bring the user to macromedia site to downlload the flash plugin if required)
the enter button is the problem : how to i link it to a the .swf
i cant find any threads that go into any real detail and if they do its really complicated stuff which i dont understand at all. i have no real experience at this at all so can some please tell me step by step (from after i complete the swf ---to getting it on the web) exactly how i go about it and try to be as simple as possible

Okay, I made a simple flash movie, then I use ctrl+enter to view it. Once I do that it places the .swf movie in my save file location. But now I made a another movie, and when I ctrl+enter it works fine. But the .swf movie of that in my save location doesn't work, it is just a white box. Does anyone know why, I appreciate it?

Is there any way that I can publish a Flash movie as a .mpg. I am making a DVD and the only way that you can have an intro before the menu is to have it as a .avi (I have a program that converts .mpg to .avi).

If anyone has a solution, please let me know

I made a video that relies on the timing of the mp3 that is in the video... and when I test the movie in FLash it works perfectly... but when I publish it to projector or swf file the times goes all kinds of crazy.... does anyone have any idea???

but when i take it to another pc, none of the external .swf's that are loaded into it (and should be bundled into the file) load!

i have one movie of size 160kb(at 22 fps)...that i m goin to accomodate in a html file....for web...

but while publishing first few frames are running very smooth....but after some time...the movie runs at 7.2 fps or sometimes at 12 fps(probably due to some movies inserted on the main timeline)

and i m not happy with the overall performance...

For example, I have a site www.raptor100.com and flash enter page index.html appears at this address. From index.html I have a link to the main flash page index1.html which appears as www.raptor100.com/index1.html. How can I adjust index.html or index1.html, so that /index1.html doesn't appear at the address line and just stays www.raptor100.com.

I'm not bad at Flash but i'm terrible at html and dreamweaver. I've got my movie ready to go, the background is in there. However, my swf won't align flush with the top and left of the page, thus, won't align with my background. Theres about a 10 pixel gap between the swf and the html page. I'm sure it's something simple...anybody know? Thanks for any help

I had to get a new Hard Disk for my Mac the other day and had to reinstall all my software including Flash 5.0, I find now Flash seems to be only publishing and exporting in Quicktime movie format instead of .swf like before. How can I get it back to .swf please if anyone can help.

I have completed a website and I am publishing and uploading to its new home....however the pages are coming in at 800x600....what did I do wrong to get this resolution...I created everything to fit to 100 percent....I would like it at 1024x768...did I miss something in the publishing settings dialog box?
