Flash Movie Is Playing At Different Speeds
I've created a simple intro for our website and my movie plays at different speeds. The movie itself is set to play at 35 fps, but when it plays it slows down to 6 fps at some points.

Each element is a simple graphic created in flash (except the lighthouse) and it tweened (size and alpha) over a span of frames.

you will notice that it runs slow then speeds up at the half way point. any idea why?

Flash Speeds On Mac, Windows, And Various Browsers
Anyone with information on the speed performance of Flash applications on the various OS and browsers?

I've a Flash-based application which runs fine on a Intel P4 3GHz PC with 512MB RAM on Windows XP, but crawls drastically on a G5 (1.8GHz) with 2GB of RAM.

I used Firefox on both systems, and for most applications, the G5 performed better. Anyone knows if the Flash player for the different platforms are very much different?

On my 3GHz PC, I also found that Flash is significantly slower on IE when compared to Firefox.

Flash Animation Playing At Different Speeds
Hi,
I have a flash animation that I've synched to a voiceover. On my computer it looks fine and everything runs together but once I upload it to the website the animation runs slower, while the voiceover is the same speed, pushing everything out of synch. On some computers the animation is really slow so it is even worse.

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

2 Different Speeds Possible?

Ive got one SWF running at 24fps and another one at 48fps.
I thought that if i loaded the 48fps SWF into another level of the 24fps, it would go OK but it results in both of them running at 24fps.
Does anyone know a way where i can have both loaded in one SWF and running at their own speeds?

Has anyone ever experienced an flv speeding up after playing it once.

I play the video, it plays through, stops and then when I play it again...it speeds up 2x for some reason.

Is it possible to modify framerates per clip within a movie, or are all clips required to play at the same speed?

Two Different Frame Speeds
This may sound simpel to you but I have'nt found the solution yet.
I need to add two different lines of text, one will have to go much faster then the other. So the frame rate has to be different.
I quess you have to make two seances for this or movies?

Changing Speeds
When my movies plays, one of my movie clips runs too slow. How can I speed up just the movie clip when it loads?

It's not connection thing, it's a projector. When I did the motion guide for the clip I wasn't think about the rest of the movie.

Sliding Speeds
Can anyone please help me with an actionscript problem as I am new to actionscripting.

What I am wanting to do is something like a sliding menu although not actually a menu.
I want a MC to come into the main movie automatically on the click of a button and to slide from off the stage to the centre of the stage, starting off fast and gradually coming to a stop.

Throwing Speeds
I have tried to search but it keeps timing out on me.

How would I go about checking the mouse speed so that, when "throwing" a movie clip, it will continue in the same direction while gravity takes effect?

I am using startDrag to grab it and stopDrag to let go and throw the mc.

Here is my code, but I know it needs tweaking.

Speeds Different On Different Computers
This site, http://63.144.118.9/scsiusa/development/ seems to be running faster and slower on different PC's. I thought that once it was preloaded that it would run the same on all PC's. Could this have something to do with the quality of video cards vs. the framerate (which is 30 fps)

Modem Speeds
This is a quick question what are the diffrent modem speeds. I know the regular ones like 28.8 at 2400 bit rate 56k at 4800 bit rate, but what are the other bit rates that I can plug in to test my movie?

Different Frame Speeds In MCs?
My main movie is running at 20 fps, and i'm loading a mc into it which i want to run at 100 fps.

The problem is that is seems the main movie speed of 20 takes over and the MC runs at what i'm assuming to be 20.

Is it possible to have multiple frame speeds?

3 Different Scrolling Speeds
Hello,

I've got a new problem in a scrolling background fla.
I want to make it possible for the visitor to choose their own scrolling speed of the background.
The scrolling is scripted through a onClipEvent (for full code see; http://www.flashkit.com/board/showthread.php?t=665819 ).
Within the scrolling Mc there is an other Mc with all kinds of animations.
in the menu MC you can set the scroll speed. but my problem is that i have to create a new keyframe for the scrolling mc to adjust the spreed which also means that the Mc with all the animations starts all over again...
Does anyone knows how to work around this?

I've done up a website in flash 8, its been to set to run at 50fps but i noticed it seemed to run slower on internet explorer than on firefox. Is there some way to correct this?

Same Clips At Different Speeds?
I have "curtain"-like effect for multiple pages, but the final MC does not play on certain frames when referenced from certain frames only. Starting from frame 1, goiing to Labeled Frame "ski", there is no problem, but when I go from any of the other two Labeled Frames to the "ski" frame, the MC does not play. There's a minimal amount of AS, but I don't think that's the problem. What am I missing?

Squeeze Speeds
I am having time issues. I recently upped the quality of my videos during the squeeze process (using Sorensam), but now my file sizes are so large that it's taking hours (literally) for tmy flash videos to upload. The Flash size on one video, for example, is 500m bytes. It's taking forever to upload. Is there any way to speed up this process without losing quality on my videos?

Please help me.

i have a shell movie that loads in five external movies. each external movie moves at its own speed.

but....

when i press a button to load a movie again.....the speed increases. in fact, the more you press the button the more the speed increases. particularly for the hourglass green triangle one and the orange spade one. i've had big problems with those two.

i can't figure it out. i've posted the files...they can only be opened in flash mx 2004. i didn't post the intro one because it was too big. so don't be surprised if you get an error message when it first loads.

i was wondering if someone might want to take a peek.

I am testing the loading time of the (300k)jpg from my "swf" and directly from the "browser"...

When, in browser jpg is loading quicker...
When, in swf the jpg's loading progress is slower...?

What's The Key To Consistent Speeds On All Systems?
Hi there, I was curious as to what is the best way to allow all my flash movies to play at the proper frame rate, no matter what computer I'm using. Currently, some movies are slow and seem to skip when played on older PCs(400mhz for example).

I'm assuming that I can use ActionScript to get around this, but I"m not sure what that will entail...

Any advice or assistance would be appreciated.

Previewing At Different Modem Speeds
Hey all,
A Flash Newbie here, trying to work out if it's possible to preview your movie at different modem speeds.
I've got a broadband connection so it flys through on a flash preview with show streaming clicked.
Just wondering how long it will take on say a 56k modem.
If anyones got the time to help me out, I would be stoked.

LoadMovieNum And Download Speeds
Rather than have, say, a 2Mb swf, you break it up into smaller swfs and load them in - obvious. But, do you save bandwidth and download time if you load 10 200Kb files at once? For example, one frame 1 of your main swf, you have 10 loadMovieNum for the external files. Is that beneficial? Or, do you have to do it at different times for this script to be of any value?

It seems that the first way would be the same as loading a 2Mb swf.

I am just after finishing a wee flash animation which has people singing and I had the months of people lining up to the singing down to a t… but when I look at the same flash file on different computers the speed of the animation is different for each and it either runs too slow or too quick!

Please could someone tell me what I am doing wrong or how to fix this… its cracking me up!

Movieclip Speeds Up When Key Pressed
I'm not sure how to describe this issue but it has been driving myself and my students crazy!

We have a flash movie in which one movieclip moves across the screen by increment x by 5 using the enterframe event. However, if a key is pressed and a second movieclip moves to a frame within it's animation to play perhaps a 5 frame animation, the first movieclip slows slightly then speeds up RAPIDLY when the key is pressed.

I've attached the file if anyone can help.

Scrolling Two Clips Different Speeds
Ok, does anybody know how this is done? I have a project that I need to build this type of thing for.

I'm using MX Pro if that matters...

enter your age, rollover "the beer archives" and click on "the history of beer" and move your mouse around. Notice how the images in the back scroll at different speeds than the dates on the timeline do but both are tied to the movement of the mouse. Also, notice that at the end of the panels that scroll, they ease.

I do know some actionscript but not a guru like some people around here.

WHAT? Different Server / Client SPEEDS Affect Swf's?

No small headache! I am testing the loadMovie function, with NO success. Can anyone tell me why the EXACT same movies work on one server, but not on the other?!?

Problem is as follows:
1) I'm attempting to load 4 of basically the same external swf into my main movie.

2) I'm using a variation of loadMovie for each one, to see which loadMovie works best (target, string, level and loadMovie, level and loadMovieNum).

3) Depending on the speed of the of the server/client connection, sometimes the movies load perfectly, sometimes with two or more mouse-clicks, and sometimes not at all.

Questions:
1) Can server/client connection really have an effect on swfs? It shouldn't...right?

2) How can I correct this so that it works correctly on ALL computers?

3) Is it a problem with my loadMovie?

4) Why does 2advanced.com always load perfectly, no matter what connection speed?

My Animation Gets Bogged Down, What Is Up With Processor Speeds?
It seems to me that my animation gets slow and bogged down when I have a couple elements going at once.

What causes this?

What are the ways around it?

So, even if the file is loaded, the animation might move slow if the computers processor speed isn't up to par?

Image Change That Speeds Up N Stops..
hi guys, im sorta a newbie/intermediate user of flash havent done a great deal in actionscript so im abit stuck. not sure where to start. my idea i have i would think is best to do using actionscripting. but let me know if you think other wise!..

Here we go.. what im trying to do is have an image that changes to a different image about 4 times through different pics. but i need this to loop and speed up as it goes through maybe 10 loops. and then stop on a new different image.

i realise this maybe abit much to do it for me, so maybe somebody can giv me the functions or such that i should look into using. is there like a delay function which i can get to delay when it should change to next frame and lower the time each loop?(or something like that)..

Another Preloader Question - Limiting Speeds?
I have another completely different preloader question now... Is there a way to make a 100 frame preloader play no faster than 30fps? I would like it to load properly if the user has a slow connection speed, but if the user has a blazing fast one, the preloader (which is actually a pretty vital part of the site design) animates way too quickly. I would like to cap the preloader speed to playing at 30fps. Is this at all possible? Thanks again for the help!

Possible To Determine Users Internet Speeds?
Is it possible within flash & actionscript to determine the speed of a users internet connection (or an estimation of at least)?

I have a website that is in flash, and each external swf is roughly 50k - No real need for a preloader on broadband, but on dial up it becomes a bit of a waiting game. I want to check their internet speed at the start of the movie, and if they are classed as dial-up, then preform a preloader function with each new swf loaded.

I don't want to break up broadband users experience with loading bars since the progress bar would show 100% practically instantly....pointless if you ask me.

So, I ask you, can this be done?

Leaves Blowing - Change Speeds
I'm creating some weather anims, and have used the snow from a tutorial from this site, and created some rain from the snow movie. I've now done some leaves blowing but they kind of go across the screen pretty much at the same rate of speed. I would like them to slow down almost to a stop and then pick back up again.
The animation is created by duplicating a movie clip (which contains a single flake, drop, leaf) randomly.
I'm a novice at actionscript.

Two Movies Play At Same Time, Different Speeds

Pardon my noobishness.

I have two movies playing at the same time, but I need one to go 1/10th the speed of the other (2 different mpegs of objects rotating).

I have tried adjusting the fps but when I change the fps for one movie, the other is changed too--I guess fps is universal to the flash project.

I have also added hundreds of more frames to the one I want to play more slowly, but I don't see a difference.

Is there any way to action script the speed at which each movie plays?

Adjusting Video Play Speeds

I had posted a couple of weeks ago regarding this prolem--I still haven't solved it. ANY help would be soooooo much appreciated.

How can I adjust the fps of a movie that I import into FlashMX so that its fps can be independent of the main project's fps as well as the fps of another short video (the sun) playing at the same time on another part of the stage.

The video I need to work with is a video of the earth doing 1 rotation. I need to have it play 365 times while it goes in a full orbit around the sun. So this means it must play 365 times in a 360 degree orbit. I have actionscripted the orbit of the earth movie clip around the sun movie clip.

Can I control this with actionscript? It seems that actionscript would be the only precise way of getting the .9 rotations per degree. Or--do I need FlashMX2004 for this?

BTW—I am pretty much a Flash noob so step-by-step directions would be very helpful.

Optimizing Remoting Call Speeds
Retrieving 1477 records from a database table with 11 fields, the time between the remoting call, and the result is averaging approx 370-400 ms.

This is with PHP4. With PHP5, and Flash remoting, I seem to average slightly higher times.

Although if I time the PHP queries outside of Flash, PHP5 returns drastically improved times, sometimes as high as 200%. I haven't pinpointed why the Flash remoting calls are taking longer with PHP5, than PHP4.

I also don't see any time difference between AMF0, or AMF3 encoding...

if I download flash 7 player, sites will play faster ?? even if the site is designed with mx and not mx 2004 right ? what if I export the same site as 7 instead of 6, will it play faster ?
