FLV Skin A/V Controls Not Showing Up
I've searched through all the books and can't find an answer for this one.

I have a couple of video clips loading to the stage via loadExternalMovieclip. The video clips were imported FLV's, given skin styles, and exported as SWF's. When I open the SWF's directly in FLash Player, all is well -- the controls appear and work fine. But when they are loaded into an empty, placeholder MovieClip, the skin does not appear!

For example, www.dreamlogicpictures.com. If you click the TRAILER button, the video loads and plays, and my custom CLOSE button works, but the A/V controls, which are in the SWF, are nowhere to be found.

FLVPlayback Skin Not Showing
Hi,

I am using FLVPlayer 8 with the skin: "ArcticExternalAll.swf" all contained in the same folder. The component properties are setup so that "ArcticExternalAll.swf" is the skin.

The shell.swf (holds the FLVPlayer 8) gets the content path and time through variables sent via php. The movie works fine, but the skin and the player controls aren't visible.

Is there any properties, etc. I can check that may be causing this problem?

Custom Skin Not Showing Up
I needed to create a custom player skin. I found several sites that explained how to do this. What I did was I went in and opened one of the default skins and changed the button shapes and colors, then re-saved it as a different name. Per the instructions I placed it into the folder next to the other dafault skins.

My problem is that it won't show up when I look for it. I go to the parameters and double click the skin, which opens up the Select Skin window, but it's not there. I tried to use the Custom Skin URL but still nothing happens. It gives me this error:

Error #2044: Unhandled skinError:. text=[IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2035: URL Not Found. URL: SkinPlay.flv"]

Am I saving the skin wrong? Is it just my computer?

I'm using a trial version of flash CS3. Could that be the problem?

Video Skin Overlay Not Showing
The overlay shows up fine when I run the site locally... but when uploaded to the web server it doesn't show. Otherwise it works fine... Here is the URL:

Skin Not Showing In Video Flash 8
I have a swf that has three buttons. Each button loads an external movie clip into a movie clip (holder_mc). The three buttons are "Video", "Map" and "Links".

The video button loads a swf called "TorVideo.swf". This swf is just an instance of the Flash 8 video component, with parameters set to my video and with autoskinHide set to FALSE. If I test the this swf (TorVideo.swf) it plays the video with the selected skin showing... perfect.

But, when I run my main swf, click the "Video" button, and then "TorVideo.swf" is loaded into "holder_mc", I get the video, but NOT the skin. I have resized the holder_mc, resized the video, everything I can think of, but I can't get the video and skin to appear in holder_mc.

Has anyone had this issue? Am I just being a total newb? It is driving me nuts

How can we show hand cursor in FLVPlayback Skin for Flash 9? I have tried giving "MC.buttonMode = true" but it didnt help.

How To Add The Skin To The Player?
Hi, thank you for your help.

I run a store and have a e-commerce web site. I'd like to display the products in flash movie.

After I took the video for one product, port to Flash 8 and convert it to a .swf file to play on the web, I don't know how to include the skin such as stop, play, next buttons, movie time and the scroll bar to scroll the movie cursor.

Can any one help or provide a link to the source code example?

HI!

I'm new to working with flash and in particular with embedding video clips, which is what I"m trying to do here.

Using the wizard, it created 3 files, an HTML, SWF and a flv file.. so what I'm not understanding is about the 'skin' of the video player that I chose in my my wizard process.. it's not showing up and the final screen in the wizard says:

"The video component uses a skin that has been copied next to your .fla, this also needs to be deployed to your server"

um what? no intiendo.. where did the skin go? and how do i get it to show up?

FLV Player - Loading A Skin
Hey Guys,

BIG BIG BIG problem on my hands here... I have an FLV player that I pass a bunch of data into from an XML file. One of these things is the skin for the progress bar, volume bar, play/pause buttons, etc... I'm hopeful you know what I mean.

ANYWAYS, when I load the .swf in as "skin.swf" it's fine, but if it's "http://www.domain.com/dir1/dir2/skin.swf" the whole app messes up...

I can't get an error to trace, but the .swf just sits there at 0,0 of my app... where when I just use the .swf the buttons go to the spot I tell them to go...

Any ideas?

EDIT: I should mention that when I run it in the IDE, no matter what, either the URL or direct, it works...

Web Based Player Skin
Hi guys,

I have created a web based player skin in photoshop just for the fun of it however I'd like to take it a step further and actually apply it to a dynamic player.

Bit like youtube player when playing videos, I assume this is done through flash but does anyone know of any good tutorials or can point me in the right direction to get a similar setup with my own unique skin?

Flash Mp3 Player Skin?
I have to make a mp3 player for a client of mine and I con't understand his descriptions

Colours can go as parameters to swf file, same like skin url. Flash could be called like this :

player.swf?color1=000066&color2=000066&color3=000066&skin= http://www.site.com/skin.jpg&url1=http: ... .site1.com

And you can use variables inside of swf to setup colours, urls for clicks, and skin.

FLV PLayer Skin With Timecode Readout?
Does anyone know where I can find a flv player skin that has timecode readout on it? None of the premade skins that come with Flash 8 have options for timecode readout. Something youtubish looking.

Custom Player Skin Problems...
I've searched everywhere and I couldn't find 1 place that explains how to make your own skin.. I tried editing a basic skin but I'm having problems...

As you can see:
1) the play button's background (which belongs to the outline) appeares pixelated although I drew it in vector.
2) The progress bar does not stretch all the way across the player for some reason (I checked and both right and left anchor are marked with true).
3) The volume bar leaves the player from the right (anchor right is true).

What could cause this?

Need A GOOD Looking Video Player Or Skin.
Video players: I don't like any of them!!
All the same and all look not very good.

Even if I had a different and better looking skin: that would at least be better.

I've seena nice one froma company called Sonetti or soemthing...
But all others seem very poor.

Does anyone know of any good ones...?

FLV Player Custom Skin Problem
I am trying to use the FLV player to add video to an ad. The problem I am having is I have to upload the main SWF to the ad sever so I have to reference the skin absolutely rather then relatively. The FLV is also referencing a file already on the web.

When I publish the file and view on my computer this works fine but once I upload to any sort of web sever the video never appears. This is definitely a result of the custom skin url b/c when I upload it and put the skin back to default it works fine.

Is there something I might be doing wrong?

I've inserted a flash movie into my DW webpage (it's a template page if that makes any difference) - the movie plays fine in Browser. However I want the movie to continuously loop without having the player 'skin' visible - any suggestions?

Solution To Missing Skin In FLV Player
A lot of people have imported a flv video clip into Flash, added one of the pre-packaged swf skins, published an html, and had it run just fine from the directory in which the files reside. But then when they move the code snippet to a new page in another directory or on a different website, the skin fails to display and there is no way to control the video clip.

The problem is that the skin's swf filename needs to be preceded by its full path (starting with http://...) if it is to work on a different website, and Flash does not make it intuitively obvious how to do that. After opening a new Flash file, importing the flv from the webserver where it resides, and clicking "next", you are taken to a screen with the title "skinning." Instead of selecting one of the skins on the picklist, you want to go to the bottom of the menu and click on "Custom Skin URL," then type in the full path beginning with http:// ... and ending with the directory in which the video files reside and including the full name of the skin's swf file, such as "SteelExternalPlaySeekMute.swf"

When you click "next," you will be taken to a screen full of instructions; and when you click "next" again, you will be asked to select a directory and to enter a name for the fla file (I recommend using the same location and name as the flv file). Click "next" again and you will find yourself looking at the workspace and timeline: only the space occupied by the flv file is shown--you will not see the image of the skin swf. When you adjust the position and size of the window in which you want the flv clip to be displayed, leave room for the skin (normally 40 px high) that you are not seeing.

Check that the parameters are what you desire (if you don't want the clip to autoPlay, turn it from true to false), and check that both the path to the flv and to your desired skin swf are correct. Then publish your .html file and save the fla. When you inspect the html <object> code, make sure the filename for the swf following "<embed src=" is preceded by your desired path. Now your skin should display with your video on any webpage where the object snippet is embedded.

MP3 Player AS2.0 Class - XML Playlist And Skin
Here is an MP3 Player AS2.0 class I made. The idea was to make it very easy to implement in flash, and then to allow the skin and playlists to be editable via XML. Compatible with Flash Player 7 and up.

Critique it, use it, add to it. If you make improvements, please post them here for everyone to use! Feel free to post links to your implementations of the player as well (assuming anyone decides to use it!).

Custom Skin Not Working In Video Player

I wanted to change the default behavior of the Flash Video Player skin such that "caption" Button works as a link and opens a new browser window.

I took SkinOverAll.fla saved as SkinOverAllCustom.fla and added following code:

Get Rid Of Rounded Corners In Flash Flv Player Skin?
Hi,

I'm using Flash CS3 on Mac OS X creating a couple of clips. Regretfully,
the default flv player skins in CS3 all have rounded bottom corners. As
the site's entire layout is very "square", these corners are standing
out like sore thumbs.

I suspect that there has to be a parameter somewhere within the swf-file
that takes care of this, but I haven't a clue, really.

Can someone please explain how to make the corners square shaped?

Player Skin Doesnt Show When Run On Server
Hey folks,
I have a flash 8 video (flv) thats called through the video component in a SWF file.

The swf displays the skin correctly when used both standalone, and from within a web page locally.

The skin simply doesnt appear when I run the same files from the server ...any idea what on earth is goin on here?

Hi. I downloaded the flash video list player and adjusted the size to play my clips. but the clips are being resized and cropped when it plays? Can anyone help? I'm baffled and frustrated (new to flash)

Player 5 Swf Not Showing Up In IE6 Web Page
Could someone explain to me what might prevent a v5 swf from not playing properly in a web page in IE6 on a PC?.

Our home page is supposed to display a flash movie and for some reason it only displays the bottom layer. There are other movies that get loaded into the main movie and it is not happening. I've checked that the appropriate files are in the same directory. It works fine when we drag the movie onto the player on the desktop.

I'm not the web person who codes the site so I don't fully understand the problem and am trying to help her.

When i say external i mean from another website.

Mp3 Player HELP Showing Download Progress
Hi everyone. I'm new to the site and was searching for something specific and couldn't find it. Here's my problem. I'm currently building my portfolio site(www.kmbwebdesign.com/home.html). One of the things I wanted in there was an mp3 player. I have one up that functions with a volume slider, play button, stop. Right now it plays simple sound loops that are located in the actual flash movie with the attachSound method.
What I would like to do instead is play full songs. music I like. I'm under the impression that this would be easiest by loading external files. I can do that too. My problem is showing the download progress of a streaming song. I would like the song to maintain a high quality level. I guess my main problem is showing the download progress of external MP3's.

Flash Video Not Showing Up In Player 9
Hello all,

I'm using a flvplayback component inside a flash movie to show flv content on a website. I'm using one of the build-in skins (mojave to be specific). I use the load() method to load a flv file at run time. Everything shows up fine in flash player 8, but clients who are running player v. 9 can't see the component or the video. Any ideas? I authored the flash file in Flash 8 Pro. The website in question is www.newhallranch.net. Is it the load method? I tried setting the contentPath at design time and it seems to work, but not if I try to load it at run time. What am I doing wrong?

Swf Objects Not Showing With Flash 10 Player
Hi, I run a company distributing videoplayers to client websites. All the players that have been embedded do not show the content in Flash Player 10 - see http://demo.cpserver2.com/default.php?id=20047&action=getpreview for an example. The swf object is loaded, but not content. How come?

RTMP Video Player Not Showing
Hi,

I am very new to Flash so learning everything as I go along. I'm trying to make a banner advert and so far I have made the animation pause on the first frame where it downloads some XML data every few seconds. If the XML data changes then it calls gotoAndPlay(2) and plays a small animation from frame 2 to frame 10 where it then gets sent back to frame 1 where it stops and waits for another XML change.

My problem is that I have a rtmp video stream I need to integrate with it. I have used the following code:

Controls Not Showing Up For FLV Player (Flash 8 Pro)
I followed the Flash 8 LiveDocs instructions for creating a media player with the new FLV movie component.

Everything works fine on the "Published" page, with the skin SWF and movie FLV in the same directory as the HTML file that contains the embed.

However, when I copy/paste the same exact OBJECT/EMBED into another page on the internet, specifically a blog post on my website, the controls/skin never show up under the movie file... but the movie plays through just fine. ( I do change the references to the SWF file... see below).

And yes, I have uploaded the skin file...

If it helps at all, when I do the OBJECT/EMBED from my blog post, I change all instances of "Untitled-1.swf" to a direct path, ie "http://www.fourfivetwofour....../Untitled-1.swf".

Is that perhaps what's causing the problem? And if so, how do you get around that?

Again, the only problem is the player controls/skin not showing up.

Sorry to act like such a n00b... Web/graphic design is what I do (since 1997), but I've delayed learning "mad" Flash skills until recently.
