Access To FMS3
Hi,
How can I have access to FMS3. I need urgentely to test the SIP features, ie, route incoming audio from a Flash Player to a SIP server through FMS3.
Anyone knows how to get the bits? What is the Adobe's dept in charge of authorizing such beta release ?
Thanks all.
ConnectionError With FMS3 Out-Of-Box VOD Example
I'm new to FMS.
When I try the out-of-the-box VOD example
on FMS3 I consistently receive a connectionError
on the client side. The video does not play.
I have FMS3 installed on Linux Fedora Core 4.
The error happens both when the client-side
Firefox session runs on the FMS3 machine,
and when I try from Firefox on an XP Pro SP2 box.
That is, the .swf file properly shows the
test client that offers up the various sample
files that are part of the FMS3 installation.
I can also talk to the admin server, bringing
up the admin console. Port 1935 seems reachable
(via telnet).
I do observe one other anomaly: in the admin
monitor, when I try to instantiate a VOD
or Live application, I can see for just a few
seconds the right-hand side display pane with
buttons, and 'live log.' These disappear after
a few seconds, and are replaced by the 'Load an
Instance' prompt.
I've seen a post of the identical problem on a
German Flash forum. What am I doing wrong?
FMS3 And MS SQL 2005
Do anyone know if there is any concern if I install FMS3 and MS SQL 2005 on the same server. many thanks for any advise.
FMS3 And FCS Connection
HI
I got an issue of FCS crash when FCS is connected with FMS3 and got an error of bad network data in FCS. FCS error text is given below:
"Bad network data; terminating connection : rtmp://_defaultRoot_/_defaultVHost_/AppName/_definst_"
Can you give me a guideline or way to resolve this problem?
FMS3 UI Components?

RTMPE Only In FMS3?
Hello,
I am in the process of setting up FMS3 (for the first time) and want to make streamed content available only through RTMPE, not through RTMP. What options do I have to do this?
Any advice is welcome; thanks.
FMS3, Multicasting
I know that FMS2 didn't support multicasting, but what about FMS3? Any chance of being able to provide multicast support? Maybe as well with an external solution?
Why So Big The Delay In FMS3?
Hello Community,
I have been using a service of FMS 3 for a week and I have notice a BIG delay between the audio/video in the player and the source of information from the computer. We are talking about something like for example: You are playing Live a playlist of songs and the user(Web Browser) is listening to x song but the computer already played that song 15 minutes ago.
If we talk about video is the same problem. I already did my test before submit this post.
The thing is that the previous system is using Windows Media and this is not happening.
This happen in our first test using Satellite Internet and also using Comcast 1.5 Mps Internet. So I don't what you think anymore.
If someone know at least what I need to do I will really appreciate the help.
Cheers,
Peter
FMS3 Newb
Hello All,
I've been reading this huge let of documentation, and I'm kind of stuck. I can't get content to list inside the admin console. Heres what I have so far:
I was able to install FMS3 on my redhat linux AS3 box. I installed to a custom directory (/usr/local/adobe/fms)
I need to keep my content in a different directory (/stream_media)
I've tried updating <installdir>/conf/fms.ini and changed the default VOD_DIR variable to /stream_media/fms/vod and restarted my services (fms and adminconsole) with <installdir>/fmsmgr app.
I'm not sure how content is supposed to show up in the admin console. If I create a new instance (in admin server) select VOD then give it a name, I was expecting a directory to be created in /stream_media/fms/vod/Something, but nothing shows up. If I manually create a directory there, place the bikes.flv file in there and refresh (open and close) the admin console still no content shows up.
I think the Bigger issue is I have Zero FMS kung fu, so if anyone could point out a class I can take or some books that I can read that would be helpful too.
Also to help wrap my head around how this works, does this model seem reasonable...
Web Browser > Web page with SWF video player > FLV/MP4/MP3 on the FMS3
From what I understand is I have to write (or find a free one) a SWF Video Player to embed in my webpages, which I can pass a rtmp link to different videos? But at the very least I need to be able to see my content in the admin console.
Thanks
Jake
Dreamweaver CS3 And FMS3
It is possible to connect to the FMS 3 via Dreamweaver CS3?
I've upgraded to FMS 3 and now Dreamweaver CS3 will not allow connection as it no longer recogises the new RTMP url for FMS3, it keeps asking for the instance name.
Previously with FMS 3 the PAth was rtmp//:ipaddress/app/instance
then stream name in the stream box.
Now it is not required so Dreamweaver is screaming at me.
Is there a code work around?
Cannot Connect To FMS3
I thought it was because I was placing the files in the wrong folder but that didn't seem to be the problem. How can I test the connection using the sample.flv that installed by default? My systems admin swears the firewall is open etc. etc. etc. but we are running FMS3 on a Windows 2003 server and he's a novell admin so he said he could be missing something there. Any help would be great!
FMS3 Hangs
The flash server will hang sometimes.
Here is the information:
OS : Window Server 2008
We opened the ports 1935,443,80,19350 for both udp and tcp
We used RTMPE for all connections.
It was operating successfully to delivery videos before it hanged
When It hanged,I checked the logs and found the following lines
Duplicate license key : MY SERIAL NUMBER HERE
Assert failed in .adminFCSAdminVHost.cpp line 112
What I suppose to fix the problem?
What is the problem?
FMS3 For DEBIAN
Hi,
I have installed FMS3 developer on my server DEBIAN.
I had to fix some mistakes about some lines "not found" in "fmscore". So I created a file named "adobe_fms.conf" in :
/etc/ld.so.conf.d
...and wrote:
/opt/adobe/fms
And to finish, I run ldconfig...
Now, (I hope so) my "fmscore" is ok !
I checked out my file "fms.ini" to make sure everything is ok !
But, in fact, if I go on mysite:1935 nothing works !!
Or mysite:1935/fms_adminConsole.htm or whatever !
After :1935 nothing appears !
Only white page !
That's drive me nuts :(
Could you help me please !

FMS3 No Video
Hi
I have problem with FMS3 setup for streaming video.
I have checked the MIME type in the IIS and VOD_DIR = \svwfsMediaDataFLASHMedia in fms.ini file
I can see in FMS admin that the streams is connecting but .I only get the spinning wheel in the player
What else do I have to check?
Running JW player version 3.16 and 4.0.46 and IE7

Whiteboard With FMS3

FMS3 InvalidApp Problem
Hey Everyone,
I'm having tons of problems with Flash not recognizing FMS. FMS was working great for a few hours today, then all of a sudden stopped recognizing my applications and throwing errors like an angry, error-throwing, 3-year-old: the cursed NetConnection.Connect.InvalidApp.
Here's my flash code:
ActionScript Code:
import flash.net.NetConnection;
var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
nc.connect("rtmp://localhost/HelloWorld
Simple enough, right? Here's my FMS code:
ActionScript Code:
application.onConnect = function (client) {
application.acceptConnection();
trace("No longer angry!");
}
What this WAS doing, before all heck broke loose, was establishing a connection to the server through NetConnection, then the server should output "No longer Angry" in the FMS Admin console. It was working totally fine before everything went nuts.
Also, I've tried using rtmpt, but when I do that I get a new and different shiny error: NetConnection.Connect.Failed.
Anyone have any ideas? I posted on the Adobe forums, but to no avail. I need this fixed ASAP, can anyone help me please?

Streaming / FMS3 Problem
I've created a webcam AS2 flash application, in combination with FMS3. For most of the endusers there are no problems, but several have a very weird problem.
They notice that when quitting the flash application, by closing the chat browser popup, they still hear audio, we still see connections coming in on the FMS3 from them, and the FMS3 still thinks they are online.
The problematic endusers all use IE7 and Flash 9.
On the FMS3 we use ping() to check each connection, and disconnect if necessary. But this doesn't change anything for them.
Anyone seen this problem before, and knows how to handle it ?
Thanks in advance.
FMS3 File Format
Hi,
We've been using FMS2 to record user-generated content. FMS2 natively saves files in FLV format with Nellymoser encoded audio.
I saw in the FMS3 press release that H.264 is mentioned for video, and HE-AAC for audio. Is there any information about the container file format? is it still FLV? something else?
Is there any way we can evaluate some sample files?
Thanks.
FMS3 Newbie - Error Help
Fresh install of FMS3 (paid version). Other than the setup settings, I haven't modified anything.
I have a commercial chat/video product that the instructions state to deposit the associated files in the /applications directory....I have done so.
Whenever I try to use/access the apps, I get the flash screen but the apps never seem to connect. In looking at the /var/log/messages as well as the FMS logs...I see the following:
Feb 12 17:36:35 srv7 Adaptor[22794]: Listener started ( _defaultRoot__edge1 ) : 1935/v4
Feb 12 17:37:18 srv7 Javascript[23011]: Connection rejected by server. Reason : [ Server.Reject ] : (_defaultRoot_, _defaultVHost_) : Application (flashcoms5_videochat/_definst_) is not a valid signed application; loading access denied.
I'm not sure whay I am getting this as I have set no restrictions (host/app/IP etc).
Any guidance/pointers would certainly be appreciated.

FMS3 AS2 To AS3 SharedObject Problem
Hello. I'm migrating a flash application writen with AS2 and working fine to AS3. The flash connects to a Flash Media Server 3 but I don't think it was the problem. I'm in a problem that I can't resolve and I don't get more information about it.
The code I want to migrate writen is:
server-side:
application.users_so.send("msgFromServer", "messageTXT");
client-side (AS2):
users_so=SharedObject.getRemote("users_so",connection.uri,false);
users_so.connect(connection);
users.so.msgFromServer = function (msg) { trace(msg);};
But... how can I do that with AS3?
That line users.so.msgFromServer = function (msg) { trace(msg);}; works perfectly using AS2 but no with AS3. I get the run-time error #2095 was unable to invoke callback. I can't find information about resolve this with AS3 code.
Please, can anyone help me?.
Thansk!
FMS3 Exporting Audio To MP3
Hi all,
I understand that Flash Lite 3 supports live streaming from FMS3, but
this is not possible if the audio is not MP3. I read a post from Bill Perry
in which he explained: "you must use FMS3 and set your audio export to MP3",
can anyone tell me what was meant and how can I do this?
Thanks,
África.

Cant Connect To FMS3 On RHE4
Hello all,
I just upgraded from FCS1.5 to FMS3 Interactive Server. I am running FMS3 on a dedicated RHE4 server as recommended, just for FMS. The problem I am having however is that I cannot connect to the server from my app. FMS installation went flawless, and I can connect through the admin console with no problems. I am trying even the simplest form of connecting... using Flash Media Encoder with the default 'live' app that comes installed. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with the setup, or why I cant connect? I tried installing the FMS3 developer edition on my local machine (windows), and that works with no issues whatsoever with both my app and the default 'live' stream with FME.
SharedOblect.send() With FMS3 And AS3.0
Now that AS3.0 client side script is more strongly typed, it appears you cannot dynamically add a callback function as in the following example. I've tried using a Responder in the client code and it didn't work. The code compiled and ren but the callback wasn't invoked.
// Sever side...
var myShared = SharedObject.get("foo", true);
myShared.send("doSomething", "this is a test");
// Client side
connection = new NetConnection();
connection.connect("rtmp://www.macromedia.com/someApp");
var x = SharedObject.getRemote("foo", connection.uri, true);
x.connect(connection);
x.doSomething = function(str) {

FMS3 And AMD 64-bit Under Windows 2003 R2?
I installed FMS 3.0 on a HP Proliant Server with AMD 64-bit processor running Windows Server 2003 R2. The FMS service runs, I can see connects to the "vod" application provided, but I cannot get it to stream any video. The data transfer count remains low. I have no idea why its not working and am now thinking that FMS 3.0 is either not AMD-friendly or (worse) it is not 64-bit friendly. Anyone know for certain?
It is strange that such a leading edge product isn't 64-bit. Its become very difficult to purchase 32-bit native servers (new anyway).
FMS3 Videochat Capacity
Hi,
I'm trying find out some capacity test for videochat. It will be enough know numbers of clients on conrete PC configuration. Can anyone tell me some numbers of streams and users? Or when I will have overall 1000 users, when each user is "downloading" 4 stream and from that 500 users are "uploading" camera. What configuration can handle it? It's only example. It will be enough know any numbers of users/configuration. Thanks a lot!

FMS3 Ping() Issue
So, what does this mean to a developer of FMS apps? Well, you need to know if users are actually there and if they are going to stay there when nothing is going on. In FMS3, I've actually yet to see the problem of the user getting disconnected when nothing is going on in the app. This is a good thing :) Nice to see it fixed. There are less instances of ghost users, but they are there, especially in busier applications.
What do you do? Do you use ping() to see if they are there? My answer is to suggest "no". The reason is that ping() can return true even when the client is no longer connected. The router or something in the middle actually returns that the client is there (I don't actually know exactly what is happening here, I do know that ping() will return true even though the client isn't there).
Does anyone know how to be in this situation?
Upgrade To FMS3 From FMS2?
My company would benefit greatly from being able to stream movies directly from mp4 files, which from what I understand FMS3 and Flash CS3 can do. Currently we have to convert all videos to FLVs, and being able to cut out that step would be a big help for us.
So I just want to make sure that to get that ability, do we need to upgrade from FMS2 and Flash MX 2004 to FMS3 and Flash CS3?
FMS3 C++ Plugin Development.
Hi All!
I will be happy if you can show or send me some extended information about FMS3 C++ plugin development. I spent a weeks in search of any documentation or information, which can help me more than " Adobe Flash Media Interactive Server Plug-in Developer Guide". It's guide don't include any example of communication between FMS script framework and fms plugin framework. Only description of 3 plugins without any information about "how plugin works". Thank you in advance!
FMS3 SSL Acceleration- Need Documentation
I've read all the avaliable documentation and came up empty handed. I am trying to get FMS 3 to function through an SSL accelerator(proxy). It is an F5 BIG-IP_HA appliance. I previously had the server/ssl accelerator running an install of Breeze/Connect for a few years.
All I need is 3 bits of info.
1.What rtmp style string do I need to make the client and server understand how the traffic will flow?
2. How does the traffic flow(I assume return stream is SSL on 1935)
3. What special settings need to be applied if any to make FMS 3 work with a hardware SSL proxy.
The picture is actually fairly simple, 4 steps:
FMS server has 2 IPs 10.1.1.13, 10.1.1.14(now we are just using 10.1.1.13)
The proxy externally operates on 72.x.x.213 and 72.x.x.214 (just using 213 for this case)
The proxy operates on 10.1.2.22 for its internal ip.
1. Client requests stream on port 443 to (proxy)server 72.x.x.213(ssl encrypted)
2. Proxy takes request on 443 and forwards it to FMS3 server 10.1.1.13 on port 80(no ssl encryption)
3. FMS3 server replys on 1935 back to proxy server(unencrypted stream)
4. Proxy server changes it to an ssl encrypted stream and sends it back to client on port (1935) from 72.x.x.13
Sounds simple, but they only tell you how the stream gets to the server in a diagram, nothing more. You must know how to configure the return stream on 1935 or 443 and how to configure the rtmp in the flv so the client/server talks properly. I can do all the F5 configuration just fine, but I need someone at adobe to fill in some blanks for me.
These docs are supposed to have all the info I need. But they barely even touch in any detail on how to configure FMS3 for hardware acceleration. And of course Abobe wants buko bucks for support.

I Got No NetConnection Event (FMS3)
Hello.
I've downloaded and build a brand new installation on to my test server (Slackware 11.2).
The server is obvious running because when I connect to the FMS Console it works.. but when I try to nc.connect() I recieve no onStatus!? Why's that?
To be more completed info, this is the AS3 code of client:
package {
//
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.net.*;
import flash.events.*;
import flash.text.*;
import fl.controls.Button;
//
public class main extends MovieClip {
//
var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
var so:SharedObject;
//var b:Button;
function main() {
nc.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStat);
b.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, conn);
b.label = 'Connect';
trace("local: appStart");
}
function conn(...shtz) {
trace("local: Connecting...");
b.enabled = false;
nc.connect('rtmp://192.168.0.1/cards/poker');
}
function netStat(e:NetStatusEvent) {
b.enabled = true;
trace("local: netStat");
switch(e.info.code) {
default:
for(var k in e.info) {
trace(' NetStatus: '+k+': '+e.info[k]);
}
break;
}
}
}
}
The action script on server is only:
application.onConnect = function(client) {
application.acceptConnection(client);
}
..but whatever :) I've tried even with no main.asc file at all.. again no luck.. :/
I'll tell you even more.. I've tried to connect by bash command:
root@host# nc localhost 1935
...
And then there is no response.. it stuck on.
well? what should I do then?

Unable To Use RTMPE On FMS3
Hi,
I have FMS3 Trial version (Dev server) running and I am trying to connect to the sample video in the default vod publishing point via RTMPE using Flash CS3 Pro. This works on RTMP but not in RTMPE.
I have made sure I have the latest version of FMS3 Dev Server. Installed all the adobe updates for Flash CS3 Pro, installed Flash Player updates (even tried Flash Player 10 Beta), and the latest AIR.
Not sure what is wrong here. Can anyone help?
Live Streaming Using FMS3
Hi,
I have installed FMS3 on RHEL4 and installed it successfully.I tested all the VOD samples and all are playing fine without any issues.Now i want to use the FMS for LIVE streaming from camera connected to server..how to go about it..
Live Streaming From FMS3
Hi,
I am newbie to flash media server,i want to know how to stream the live content as below,
A->Server,B->System where i am getting the live feed,C->System where user wants to see the live feed,
System is getting the live feed from the camera..it will encode that and give out the live feed to FMS i.e. system A in the from of a .sdp(session description protocol)(encoded content is in 264(video) and aac(audio))..so in FMS server i have sdp file..when i open it in FMS Server(system A) in VLC player it starts playing.Now i want FMS to use this and stream the content that it is getting from system B..to system C..(n number of clients)....any one knows whether i can directly use sdp for streaming in FMS.
Advanced Seeking In FMS3
I need to be able to stream a live feed to the streaming server and have it also be recorded for later on demand playback. I need to be able to apply markers to the on demand files via XML or similar method, so that advanced seeking can be performed without waiting for the file to be fully downloaded.
I need to basically be able to provide a table of contents for 2 to 3 hour City Council meetings, and the end user would be able to jump to any agenda or section of the video that is listed in the table of contents.
The feature list for Adobe Streaming Server has something called Advanced Seek, which I assume would allow this type of scenario.
Can anyone point me to any references that might be useful for designing this type of application?
Thanks, so much for reading.
FMS3 Aborts On Boot
I have a RH EL4 server with a Xeon processor and 4GB RAM and am trying to get FMS3 to run. I installed the software and then went back and installed the compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.3.i386.rpm and mozilla-nspr-1.7.6-1.2.5.i386 and then copied the libasneu.so.1 into the /lib directory. I uninstalled and reinstalled FMS3 and that seemed to fix all the error messages, but now the server just aborts on start. The log file says:
Jul 15 08:22:46 host Service[8807]: Server starting...
Jul 15 08:22:46 host Service[8807]: Server aborted.
The server is running as root with the group root. everything else was left as the default.
Question About Fms3 Component
I have installed fms3, flash cs3 and flexbuilder.
Now I have some question about the fms3 component.
1. In Flash CS3, I cannot find the fms component. Though I use windows-component ( or Ctrl+F7), there are just Flash's normal component and have not fms's ones such as People and Chat etc.
Why?
I know that the documents of FMS2's component told that them should be installed and copied. So FMS3's components should be installed also? But how?
2. Can I use FMS3's component in Flex? How?
Thanks a lot!

FMS3 Process Scope
I have a suite of FMS apps that I want to deploy across different VHosts on ws2003. The principal app is deployed in packs of 15 instances, although there are about 5 smaller 'helper' apps which are mainly singletons. Each pack is a running unit - so from a process isolation point of view, setting process scope to "app" seems fine. But this raises the following questions:
1) What are the performance implications of each scope - my guess is that 'inst' scope is expensive. But are there scalability or resource implications for each scope? I'd be interested to know if scope can play an active part in tuning my apps.
2) If scope is set at the application level, and I set it to 'inst', and I do this for each application, does this mean that if I have 10 apps with 10 instances each, that I create 100 FMSCore.exe processes? And does it mean that if I set 'numproc' to 3 for each of them that I'd create 30 processes?
FMS3 From FMS2 Problems
We just made an upgrade from FMS2 to FMS3 and the videos have stopped streaming. The connection to the FMS server is good, but I'm getting an error now that I can't find the video stream? Nothing has changed but the FMS server upgrade. Is there a common issue when upgrading that I don't know about? I have a test video sitting in the _definist_ folder for testing and my as3 code looks like this:
connection = new NetConnection();
connection.client = this;
connection.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler);
connection.addEventListener(SecurityErrorEvent.SECURITY_ERROR, securityErrorHandler);
connection.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, asyncErrorHandler);
connection.connect(targetURI);
function netStatusHandler(event:NetStatusEvent):void){
switch (event.info.code) {
case "NetConnection.Connect.Success" :streamVideo();
break;
}
function streamVideo(){
ns = new NetStream(connection);
ns.client = myClient;

public function onBWDone():void{} <----- I was getting a can't find onBWDone error when I switched to FMS3 so I added this line: connection.client = this; and this onBWDone method you see here,.. and removed this line: NetConnection.defaultObjectEncoding = flash.net.ObjectEncoding.AMF0;. I don't know if this has anything to do with it?
Thanks

Flash 8 And FMS3 Blues
I've made a flash app for use within a asp.net application that connects with FMS3 and flash remoting. I works fine in the flash dev enviroment. The flash also runs on the FMS server (ie7). But is doesn't run on a PC connected to the internet. It also doesn't work within the visual studio development server. This seems to be a security issue but I've no clue what this is

Niagara Encoder + FMS3
Good morning,
I'm working for the University of Cordoba (Spain). Now
we're preparing a videostreaming project and i'm very new in this topic. We have found very
interesting some Viewcast encoders, specially, the Niagara Gostream SURF & Niagara MAX 6929
Streaming Encoders. We also are thinking in use Adobe Flash Media Server for streaming,
but we don't know how to send encoded video to FMS. I've tried to found information about
this on the Internet but I didn't found anything, Could anybody give some information about this?. I Thanks.
