Flash 8 Navigation Wheel Help
Hello, I found an FLA with a nice vertical navigation wheel that I would like to incorporate into the design of a new site I'm working on, the problem is, the site I'm working on needs to be published in Flash 8, Actionscript 2... the FLA I found was created in Flash 5.

When I try changing the publish settings to Flash 8, actionscript 2, the movie no longer plays.

Could someone help me figure out how I can modify this code to get in working in a Flash 8, actionscript 2 environment? I tried playing around with it with no success.

There's really not much code, I think it's probably something rather simple, but whatever I tried wasn't working.

I'm trying to create a Navigation Wheel that the users clicks and drags to change the frame of a target movieclip. I found an example at:

Wheel Of Fortune Style Random Navigation
I am making a website in which I would like the navigation to be in a wheel of fortune style. If the user clicks the spin button the wheel will rotate and land with a random segment undernearth the top marker. The segment would have the name of a section of the site on it and when the user lands on it they would be redirected to the appropriate section. These sections would ideally just be images that pop up in a separate fixed size window when activated, leaving the navigation visible underneath. Does anyone have any idea how to do this?

Mouse Wheel In Flash
I'm trying to get the wheel on the mouse to work in flash in IE6 with Flash MX.

I tried the following example -

I'm trying to make the mouse wheel work for flash MX. I know that you can use this using actionscript and javascript but i'm not sure how. Does anyone have any examples or tutorials on how to do this. Thanks for the help.

Scroll Wheel UP And DOWN Nav In Flash
The first time I saw this was at the FWA website I had hard time to figure out how to navigate and accidently i scrolled the down arrow and Alas it worked.

Anyway this is too simple but works !

Hey everyone,

I searched the forums for this topic but I didnt really find what I was looking for. I know that using the mouse-wheel scroller is possible with Javascript in IE6, but I was wondering if there is a way to use it in Flash. Maybe somebody could clear this up for me.

Does anybody know a way to get wheel mouse events in Flash? Obviously the standard events don't handle wheel mice. Buy maybe somebody thought of a work-around already? After all there are so many flash movies with scrolling text etc... I bet somebody has at least tried to solve this before? Know that it can't be done would also be helpful.

Web Cam And Steering Wheel Communiation With Flash
I am currently trying out using other means of interaction with my flash made applications and i am stuck. Anyone knows how to or what are the scripts to make flash communicate with my web camera and steering wheel? Or where can i read up more about this two means of external interactions. Basically i need the web cam to take a photo and input it into my application, using the application to modify the photo and ultimately print it out. And as for the steering wheel, simply to create a driving game with it.

I am experimenting with creating a spining wheel that works in the same way as the infinate menu, but i have no idea how to get it to rotate around an axis rather than pan left or right or up and down. Could someone point me in the right direction please, either forum or tutorial.

Yea i have a vertical scrolling flash site. How do i enable the scroll wheel on the mouse to work, because currently users must use the scroll bar to go down. Which is just not convenient or user friendly.

I am working on interactive flash maps, where I let the user utilize the mouse wheel to zoom in or zoom out of the interactive map (in addition to keyboard and button options).

In AS2, using the mousewheel on a flash element that is in focus would not scroll the whole web page that contains the flash. But, in AS3, the mousewheel scrolls the whole page in addition to communicating the mouse events with the flash element. Here's a comparison of the two maps:

Hello!

I'm making "Wheel of Fortune". Making the wheel spin was no problem (of course) and make it stop random. But how (!) do i find out where it stops? I have different pictures on the wheel and want something special to happen when it stops on a dog... i can make the same thing happen every time, but want different tings to happen on different pictures. HOW?

How do you make a disc symbol spin smoothly without stopping, like a car wheel or a record for example? If you just do a motion tween and make it rotate any number of times it will briefly pause when it reaches the end of the loop. Any ideas?

I am trying to produce a 'Wheel of fortune' type graphic in Flash. The basic idea is that you click the centre arrow and it spins around and lands randomly on one of the seven sections of the wheel. The problem I have is that I'm not sure how to make the arrow land randomly. If anyone has any idea how to do this I would appreciate your help.

hi | this, i'm sure, will be the first of many posts. i'm embarking on my final project -- year-long -- and i'd like to have a nav menu that mimics the price is right wheel. you know, the one where the contestants spin it before they go to do the showcase showdown. so, it's got to simulate 3d. there will be 2 buttons that'll trigger the wheel to move forward or backward to scroll thru the menu selections. am i making sense? can anyone point me in the right direction? anyone know what i'm talking about?

I need to create some kind of wheel, that you can grab with your mouse and actually spin it, it has to be able to stop on its own at random,once the wheel stops a new movieclip will pop up on the right of the wheel displaying new content,(the wheel is split into 4 sections, each section will contain a hidden location somone can win!!) the purpose of this wheel is to give away free trips to people that visit the site and spin the wheel. I have no clue how to go about doing this. here is a link with a sample wheel im working on, if someone could possibly take wjat i have and bring it to life, or possibly create a generic wheel in which i can try and follow how they did it it will be muuuuuuuch appreciated,

Two-wheel Rotation
im trying to make a simulation of a two-wheeled rover which can turn in two ways...the first way is "center-pivot", the pivot is halfway between the two wheels...the second way is "side-pivot" (hard-left or hard-right) the pivot point is on either wheel, depending on the direction of the rotation...how will i be able to do this...i'm still having trouble with the registration point...
