Flash Movie Not Streaming
I have a problem with the following site that I am developing:

www.status-windows.com/test/

When I view the page on my 56k modem it takes a long time to play. I am convinced that it is downloading the whole(200k) movie before it plays.

Can anyone give me any pointers on what might cause this? I purposely put a few graphics onto each frame at a time so that my movie would stream. It seems odd!

I was wondering if it had anything to do with the fact that the first(and only) frame in the main flash timeline is simply holding lots of other Movie Clips.

I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Exporting Movie W/streaming Mp3 Crashes Flash
Hi, I just learned to do some simple Flash for my gaming clan's website. I'm trying to pop up a window with member info that plays some streaming mp3 music. When I export, publish, or save the movie with event sound, it's fine. If I publish, export, or save with streaming sound, Flash crashes in the middle of writing! It just says "Exporting Flash Player" or whatever, then Boom: "This program has performed an illegal operation."

I'm running Flash 5. I'd upload the .fla file to my own site if someone wants to look at it, but it's about 10MB... :P Other than that, I'm not sure what information to give except that I followed the instructions from the "Lessons" and other "Using Flash" webpage to put it together exactly like they said.

Flash Streaming And Text Animation In One Movie
Hello there:

Here is what I'm trying to do:

I have created a flash movie with one frame some graphics and logo on seperate laters and one layer contains my FLV video which is set to be streamed from the srver so there is only a refrence of that movie on stage in one frame.
but before my movie starts streaming I would like to have an animated text on the screen.

So for that I created second scene and put my animated text there.
I want the movie starts with my flash text and then starts the second frame where it streams my movie but when I publish my movie it shows the text then only one frame of my streaming movie then loops back to my animated text and plays it over again.
how do i go about doing that?
any ideas?
I don't want to embed the video in my timeline cause it a big movie and I would like to stream it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Streaming Live Audio In A Flash Movie
Hi, I'm working on a website for a local radio station, and I want to be able to stream a live audio feed of the radio station to a flash movie. Right now all I really know is that the URL to get this live feed is http://kpacradio.pacific.edu:8000 - if you put that into Windows Media Player it will start the radio broadcast. Is it possible to play this through flash so that the user can just stream it from a website rather than having to introduce windows media player into it? Thanks a lot.

Playing Streaming Video From Darwin Streaming Server In Flash Player
I understand that Flash player & FMS support RTMP and not RTSP. However I'd like to know how can I receive the video stream encoded in H.264 from a Darwin Streaming Server and play it in Flash Player 9? Darwin Streaming Server uses RTP/RTSP for streaming. How To Limit Streaming Bandwith Using Flash Media Streaming Server
Hello,

We have recently designed our audio streaming player (designed in Flash) to stream mp3 content using FMS rather than progressive download. Our goal was to reduce the waste of bandwidth which occurs with progressive download - in cases where the player loads the song and only a few seconds are heard, though the entire song file is downloaded to the client computer which wastes bandwidth. We thought using FMS and streaming the mp3s using rtmp:// protocol would reduce our bandwidth usage.

However this has not happened. Our bandwidth is slightly lower but not significantly so. Seems like FMS is also downloading the entire song even though a listener maybe only a few seconds from the beginning of the song. The bandwidth charts are essentially the same as compared with progressive download which was simply using http:// with the mp3 content on a web server.

Does anyone have any suggestions of how we can make changes to FMS in a config file or console where we can set the streaming server to only download a few seconds beyond where the player is listening? It just seems like we are at no advantage with FMS in terms of decrease in bandwidth which was our major reason to go forth with this technology.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My Movie Is Not Streaming

Maybe someone can help me with my problem, i'm trying whole week now, but i don't get it right.

I made a homepage with frames in html, now I want to load my swf movie in one of the frames.
This is no probem it works perfectly!!
I created only one big scene, the scene is big because it contains JPG pictures.
I thought flash was streaming, but the movie only starts when the whole swf file is loaded?????????

I tried a preloader but that doesn't work beause then he loads the preloader and the whole file and then he starts playing. (he doesn't show the preloader)
I'm pretty sure that te actions of my preloader are right, and without my preloader my movie isn't streaming either.

Maybe you can take a look at my homepage, first you get the intro with a preloader (thats fine), but when you get at the html menu and you press the link "diashow", he first loads the whole movie and then starts to play??
And on this moment I don't use a preloader!!!!

I am getting crazy, why doesn,t my movie stream??????

How to stream a movie in the backgound while playing.
It should not stop playing.
I´ve seen this been done.
I have a presentation online that is 12min long!!!
with sound it´s maybe 3Mb big.

I need it to have short downloadtime for crappy modems.

Movie Not Streaming - Tried Everything, Please Help
I've made a movie in flash, it's just over 300kb in size. I've added all kinda of preloaders, used the bandwidth profiler to check it, and according to what I've read, it really should work. But it doesn't, and it's happening with other movies I've tried too.

When I go to play the movie online, it gets to a certain point, at the most 100 frames in, then goes back the begining, and repeats itself, back to the point where it stopped and looped, etc etc.

I've checked all the way through for rogue pieces of actionscript, but found nothing, so I really don't know whats going on. I can only think that there's a bug in my version of flash, or (if it's possible) it has something to do with my webspace, which I can't really see why there would be as it's a professional package with all the php/cgi capability etc.

Anyone have a clue whats going on?

I'm using the mediaPlayer compiled clip to stream video through my interface. The problem is i need to customize the interface but retain the same functionality, it's as simple as colour change and button placement. Is there any easy way to do this, and or any reference points online to for this?

is it possible to stream mp3's from another flash movie?
i want to create something where the mp3 files are all in another movie, and from clicking a button a particular mp3 for that button starts streaming. Is that possible.

How To Detect If Another Movie Is Already Streaming Mp3?
Hi all

I've created a small button which when clicked steams an mp3.

I have multiple copies of this button on a web page...each button plays a different file.

The problem, is that at present, the user can click on multiple buttons and they all play at the same time.

Can anyone tell me how I detect if one of the buttons is currently in use and if so, stop it and then play the file associated with the newly clicked button????

Am I making sense?

Streaming Flv Movie QUALITY
hi,
can anyone tell me that how can i set the Quality of my live flv movie. I am publishing a movie to media server in a local network, So i have no limitations of bandwidth.
Live video can be seen easily, But when i increase the WIDTH and HEIGHT of receiving video file (or publishing video file) then Quality is decreased at both sides.

Please tell how can i set quality from for streaming video BEFORE broadcasting or publishing it from Flash.

Streaming Music That Is In A Movie?
i streaming now an mp3 file but i want to syncronize it with animations

i only know how to syncronize it via the song position but its inpractical to fix the whole song now...

but if i synchronize it in a movie....can i still load that movie in the main movie en still start playing it before the whole thing is downloaded first?

Loading/streaming Multiple .swf's Into A Movie

I have a main movie, into which i want to load multiple swf files. The main movie starts by loading the home.swf, which works fine!

My problem is, that i want the rest of the swf's to be loaded/streamed into the background while somebody lookes at the home link.

The movies are loaded with a frameaction like

loadMovieNum ("products.swf", 1);

I have 9 links on 9 different frames. Will the other swf's be loaded into the mainmovie even though i'm looking at the home link? (I want to use "parking" to load the other files)

I have a rather large video and i would like it to stream so my users dont have to sit back for 10mins and watch the % bar go up... i can stream a mp3 with out a problem, but i am having problems with mpeg files and getting them to load into the correct place, and ideas / help would be great!

Streaming Problem With Long Movie
I'm making a fairly long cartoon using Flash MX, it uses several scenes and runs at 24 fps. The problem I have is when I compile it to an SWF file the sound gets progressivley more and more out of sync even though they're all set to 'stream'. The animations are about a half second ahead of the sound by the end of the cartoon.

There's a couple points where sounds overlap, I'm not sure if that could be causing it, or maybe the scenes.

Anyone know anything about this?

Rather than deal with programming a preloader, how do I come up with a loading screen that will display 1 frame on screen until enough of the movie has loaded for it to start playing? Is there a good tutorial explaining this?

I have now realised that when you 'show streaming' in the 'test movie' window it doesnt seem to stream that.

i end up testing it online - ITS BUGGING ME

I wanted to do some preloaders and, when trying to be based on the streaming info testing my movie,I found that "preload" marked much more frames than my movies had. What is the interpretation for that, and which has to be the minimun load frame for my ifframeloaded action?

Streaming Movie Issues -Not Able To Click Play More Than Once
Let me just preface this question...I just got Flash 8 Pro here at work and I have Never worked with flash before...
With that being said I have worked as a graphic designer for 10 years and in my job I now must start doing more interactive advertising banners.
I am trying to have a progressive download of a .FLV from our servers and It works. BUT I am using the pre-built skins and I can play the movie once but when it's done I have to reload the page to be able to play the movie again.
I would like users to be able to click the play button after they have seen it once and view the clip again.
I have tried setting the autorewind to "true" and this does not achive this function.
What are my options and what am I missing?

MC Plays In Test Movie Streaming" But Not In Browser
When I test the movie on my harddrive with streaming an MC plays during loading pics and a textfield showing the percentage loaded but when I upload the swf file the preloading is fine but the MC does not play and the %loaded is also not shown. What could be the reason?

Hey guys I would like to play music on my site and have real player open up to do this. I made a 50 second mp3 around 30kb. Please tell me exactly how to set this up so when I publish it and someone clicks on real player will open up and play the song.

What do I publish the mp3 as and how do i locate it. I'm not sure at all.

Lets say my site is www.music.com and the song I uploaded is called track1 is the location of that song on the net www.music.com/track1.mp3?

Simple Preload/streaming Problem On Load Movie
Okay I have a simple structure

Level 0 frame which load content ontop of it, say Level 5, now the intro that loads into Level 5 is a simple frame by frame animation sequence, that contains sound set to stream (ie footsteps which wont sync on any other setting), now when I test the movie, all of the frames, barring the first 3 are below the red threshold for 56k modem, however when I test it with SIMULATE DOWNLOAD, the movie stops playing basically until the whole movie is loaded (ie green line extends full way!) then it plays.

Now if I wanted it to wait until it had fully loaded to play I would of been ecstatic at this preload that somehow worked its way in automatically.

What I want is the good old fashioned play frame by frame "streaming" that will stop on a frame if the next frame isn't loaded, but wont wait til the whole movie is loaded before proceeding!!!

Any idea, it's been so long since I've done timeline based things, I'm clueless.

Streaming Music Files When You Don't Have A Streaming Server
Hello all,

(Sigh) I'm sure this is only the 25th time this has been asked this month but...what's the best way to serve music files in Flash 6 when you don't have a streaming server?

I've got a nice little music player built...four track buttons, stop, play, pause, resume, volume control, track artists/names. The problem is it's attached to one file that takes some time to load right now. Is there a better way to serve them for faster download to the user without a streaming server?

Is bandwidth detection and bitrate adjustment possible with Flash Media Streaming Server 3? I know the streaming edition doesn't support custom application deployment, so does this mean flexible bitrate streaming is not possible?

F8 - Streaming Audio From Streaming Server Help
Any one have any ideas why my streaming audio wont play? I trying to stream audio .mp3's from a streaming server. This way it is not a progressive download and cache.

But I can not seem to get the audio to play through my audio player. any thoughts? Or maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

Looping Streaming A Streaming MP3 Song
Can anyone tell me why when my streaming mp3 song isn't looping? It works fine on my PC but when I upload it to the server, the song plays once then stops.

I initially didnt have the check for 'soundcomplete', I presumed it would loop again by using the 'start(0,999). This didnt work so I did a check and told it to load the sound again and play, this doesn't work either :-(

Does anyone know what's going on with this?

Streaming Mp3 Using Mms Network Streaming Protocol?
Is it possible to stream mp3 files from mms url's like this? mms://example.streamsvr.com/example.mp3

It throws an error when i try the way i use to load mp3 files (it works with other mp3s):

Does anyone know how to or has put a live video on flash that is on the web or do I have to put a link to somewhere else where that person would view the live video feed because what i am wanting to do is have the interface and buttons and things on the left perhaps and have a little window within the interface that is playing the video feed automatically or upon request. i am a very novice beginner.....loosing sleep trying to figure this out...

I am trying to stream a sound file from flash. I exported swf from swish into flash. and i want the swf from swish to loop until the stream is over. i also want the whole movie in general to loop after the stream is over so it starts over from the beginning. can someone help??

I recently downloaded and installed the latest version of the Flash Player. I believe that it was supposed to take care of the choppy streaming that was experience on some sites. I am still experiencing that problem. Can anyone help me with this problem. Thanks!

Hi i once had some help here on this forum on how to make a flash "radio" where i got flash to connect to a live shoutcast stream and play.

However i lost all my .fla´s in a disc crash and lost all info on the file..

I hope someone can help me or guide me to do a flash radio player. All i need it to do is click a play button and have it connect to a stream at the following location http://radio1.deep.dj:8000

I'm kind of new to flash. I've done a lot of things, but there's also a lot of things I have not done. I have a flash presentation that's about 25 minutes long, and 40MB in size once published to a SWF. We were burning it to an autorun CD and distributing it, but now the client wants to have this online. How to I make the SWF file streaming so people don't have to wait for the entier 40MB to download?

Streaming Flash?
Hi All,

I have a fairly large, 800K flash movie containing 4 audio tracks and lots of sequential bitmap images. I have added a loading bar which works fine, however, the movie does not even start to show up on the page until about 250K later. So potentially I have people on dial-up waiting for some time before they even see the load bar.

My question is, what would be the best way, or is there some technique, which would at least show the basic interface of the movie and the load bar instead of an empty spot on the page, rather than nothing at all until 250K later.

Streaming MP3 - Flash MX
Hi there,
I've got a very simple flash object running on a page. If you take a look here:

The bar with the play and stop buttons in is the Flash part.

Now, presently that uses loadSound etc to get the sound (the sound is an MP3 file). Sometimes, unfortunately, this file can take a while to load.

My question is: is there anyway I can let users know how much of the file is download?

Ideally, I would like the file to be downloaded first *then* played - but again, I'd need a bar to go across to show the user how much is left. I'm at a loss how to do this though.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I made a rather large (157 meg) cd presentation in flash I can stream the presentation when it is on a computer, but how do I make the cd stream the presentation?

Flash Not Streaming
I'm designing my first full flash site and I'm having some problems. The swf file is 1.1 MB but it won't stream. My browser waits for the whole file to be recieved before it starts playing. I even added a preloader but the preloader doesn't even start playing till the 1.1 MB has downloaded. Once I'm at the site and I hit "refresh", it works fine but that's because the file is already cached I think. Anyways, please check out the site (it's not close to being done btw.)
