Flash MX Installer
How can I get the Flash MX installer to execute. When I click on the fileto install it it brings up a window that says "Open With" showing a list of programs on my new computer .

Does anyone know what the Flash Player Installer (flashplayer6_winax.exe) available for licensing and distribution actually installs? Is it the OCX only, or does it include the standalone player?

No Installer For Flash Ppc 7 ( Or 6 )
Was an installer ever made for flash player software on ppc's ? I can't get anything to execute on the pda directly ( HP Ipaq 3100 and 4100 don't know what the 3 files are and won't extract them..ppc 2003 ). All other programs I've installed through activesync from the desktop. Antmobile installs and plays flash fine, but I can't be alone in wondering why adobe just doesn't offer an installer. Am I hopefully missing something?

I Need A New Flash Installer
Ok, heres what my Studio MX disk has gone through.. First we made a copy of it in case something happened to it.. which something DID.. The damn dogs got up and destroyed it along with 3 of my favorite games. so now im relying on my backup copy. Somehow over the years it has gotten scrathed a bunch and now everything installs ok except flash. It cant read the instaler file and gives up after 30 mins. Ive tried those dumb buffing sprays and just cant seem to get the file back so please just gimme a download for it and ill use my Serial to register it.

hey where can I get a Flash player installer for MAC and PC. I am develolping a site with MX, but i just was told by my cliant that they would like to have run the site with player 5. i do not have the player install in my browsers since I got MX.

Could someone advise me where (and which) I get a flash installer for use on CD's? I need to give the option to install from the Cd (not online). The types I have used before turned out to be for netscape which is not what I was after
Also.....while I am showing people how thick I am I might as well go for the full monty!.......I do a lot of animation in poser and then transfer the image work to flash but as you can imagine this uses masses of keyframes, I have been advised to export the posewr movies in AVI format but the quality sucks (probably my fault!!) so...does anyone know of a good video program to use for this type of thing??

i got a flash cd-rom i'm making, its got a flash player installer on it so if you dont have it you can install it off the cd.

Is there a way of redirecting the auto-flash player installer to the cd based flash player installer. cos at the mo it always jumps to the macromedia website to grab the installer there.

Flash Projector In MAC Pkg Installer
Hey, does anyone have experience putting a Flash projector for the MAC in a .pkg installer? I am trying, and while the Flash projector plays fine before I package it (using Package Maker) the MAC doesn't recognize it once it is installed. Any ideas? I'm a PC guy, so I'm completely lost here. This has to go out today, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Need Flash Player 6.0.21 Installer
I've discovered that the only way I can copy movies from my Handycam to an mpeg format (instead of the proprietary Sony movie file format) is to use a workaround that requires my to have Flash Player 6.0.21. Does anyone have the fp_6.0.21_activex.exe installation file for this version? The Adobe site doesn't appear to have it available for download any more.

i already have a movie to be published and to be burned on a cd together with some programs and other folders.

it will be something like a installation option thing where the user can choose what program to install and what folder to browse inside the cd.

for example, how do i launch "setup.exe" inside a "my apps" folder on the cd?

and how do i launch the window browser and browse the "my files" folder also inside the cd?

i' m working on a interactive CD, in the firts part it shows a menu for installing QuickTime and Acrobat reader . I used fscommand("exec","path/qt.exe") with qt.exe into a subdirectory called fscommand as well , but it doesn't work .

How To Setup Flash Installer For Distributed CD Rom
PLEASE do not reply with links to Macromedia site. I have visited every related link and called tech support. They sent some more incorrect links.

Situation: I CANNOT use a projector. My project had to be developed for PC with IE browsers. It will be distributed via CD ROM and intranet. I need to use a "STAND ALONE PLUGIN". I did license agreement and downloaded flash installer.exe .

Question: Say that my CD includes an html doc, swf file, and instaler.exe. How do I set things up that so if the user doesn't have Flash 6 already installed, that the machine prompts the user to run the Flash installer?

Remember...downloading online, and using projectors are NOT options.

Using Flash As An Application Installer Front End
I am creating a Flash based application installer that will be distributed on a CD. The CD will autostart to the Flash exe projector and then display a page with 3 links. Each link points to an application installer file which resides within its own folder.

The exe files which are placed within the folder are updated often with the names of the files changing to reflect the version number. Does anyone know of a way to point to the exe file that resides within the folder irrespective of the name of the file? And can this be done by a novice scripter?

Launch The QT Installer From A Flash Projector
Dear all,

I am wanting to launch the Quicktime installer on OSX from a Flash Projector. Nothing I do seems to work. The following seems to work with most other applications and something similar works fine on OS9 but not with the Quicktime installer on OSX

I have tried making the installer into a .sitx file, shortening the name to just "QuicktimeInstaller.dmg just about everything but I get no response when I click the button I have created.

Does anybody know how to launch the QT installer from a Flash projector. Any assistance is appreciated.

Problem With Flash Plugin Installer
i have a link int he bottom of the page to install flash plugin. but some users when they go to the site they get an older version than the current one... i want them to be able to install the latest version. where it is 7.x.x and some poeple after they install still get 6.x.x

why is that??? how can i amek sure poeple get 7.x.x installed???

Problem With Flash Player 8 Installer And IE
Alright, first of all, DAMN YOU MACROMEDIA!!!!

Ahem... now that this has been said, my problem :

I'm building a website using flash 8, because most of the text will not show up using flash player 7, I have to force my users to update.

Using Firefox ( a good browser ) everything is fine, people click on the updater, which installs itself properly and then they can just click on the link to continue.

But...

Using Internet Explorer ( apparently the company who does that is very rich, or so I hear ) all hell break loose. First I had to acquire the standalone installer because Macromedia are too -censored- to make an installer that works fine under IE, which sucks.

My problem now is : Users have to restart IE so flash 8 installation takes effect! WTF! I mean what kind of software design is that?

My web developper frustration is peaking, is there any way I can prevent having to restart IE after installing flash player 8???

I have a feeling the answer is no...

Link To Flash Installer As Opposed To Flash Page OK?
I noticed this site seems to be linking directly to the flash installer at Macromedia's site if you do not have flash installed. That is nice since you don't get thrown over to macromedias site. Is this the way to do it? It used to be macromedia suggested going to their flash install page instead and they kept moving the link to the running the installer. At least I got caught a couple of times releasing a flash product that linked directly to the installer, only to get a 404 just after I released it for those that didn't have flash yet.

(I also noticed with this technique that it is often not mentioned that the install is taking place, so for a lower bandwidth customer they just sit there wondering why the page isn't loading when they are actually waiting for flash to install, but that's just a random observation and has nothing to do with my question.)

2 years ago I used to assess the situation myself and then call the activeX Flash plug-in installer directly, but then Macromedia kept moving that link. I would rather not of course send customer off to Macromedia land if I don't need to.

I am still getting support calls about users installing the latest Flash player, and then being unable to view any Flash content in IE. When I go through, I find that the Flash OCX just won't initialize. I still haven't been able to find any info on how to fix this, so I am having those users view the pages in FireFox if available, or in some cases, setting them up with a virtual machine to run the page. (Telling them NOT to install the latest Flash player.)

When is this going to be fixed? I just got 2 more calls on it today! I can't be spending 30-45 minutes setting up FireFox and explaining the issues to the users constantly every single freaking day just because your programmers are too lazy to fix their problem. Fix this!

Trouble With Installer
Hi.

I have a problem with every Adobe products installers, expecially with Adobe Extensions Manager CS3.

When I start setup.exe it extracts the files, then the main window of the installer shows. But it closes immediately, making me unable to continue the installation.

I use Vista and I have already Flash CS3 and Photoshop CS3 installed (They worked and I had previously installed the Extensions Manager too, with no problems, on other machines with Vista).

CD-Rom Installer Program
This indirectly related to actionscript, but I was wondering if anyone knew how you would create (or where to buy) an installer program for a CD-Rom? I have a Flash app and I want to be able to allow the user to install it on their machine and run it locally. I don't need to edit the registry or anything, so I'm hoping it wouldn't be too difficult to find something like that.

I've searched the forums, but haven't found a question like mine yet. So here's the deal.

I need to include the ability in a PC projector to launch an installer for an exe, however, if the exe is already installed I need the same button to then simply launch the app.

From the reading I've done here, I think that calling a BAT file would be part the answer. However, the BAT would need to have the ability to read the registry and then execute one or another line depending on the registry record.

Is this even close?

I'm over my head here (even more so since I work on a mac), so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a projector file I'm making in flash. One of the buttons in the movie is so that they can download the adobe acrobat installer.

NOw, there are two versions of it in my folder. A mac version, which is a .bin, and a PC version, which is a .cgi file.

What code should I put on the button?

How will it know whether or not the user is using a mac or a pC?

User Info - Installer
Ok, I am making an installer from Flash. I know the basics but I need help on two things.

1. It is for a program made in C++ and I do not want Mac's to use it. So I need to be able to tell if it is being used by A mac or a windows computer.

2. I do not know how to create a script that will install files on an FTP server (my website) to the Program Files folder.

Standalone Application Installer
This isn't really a flash-specific question necessarily, but i don't know where else to put it.
I'm making a flash application that needs a certain directory structure to work properly (it needs to load several different files, which are contained externally so they can be edited individually when the application is updated) and I was wondering if there was any way to force that on the user in the way they download the file. What would be ideal is if i could throw it all into one of those installers that puts it in "program files" and sets up a shortcut to the main application on the desktop, preferably with an uninstaller as well. Does anyone know how you set one of those up?
