Hey all,
I'm planning on becoming certified with Macromedia, and I'm wondering if there are any study resources on the web besides Macromedia and BrainBench.
Sample tests etc. is what I'm after.

Open Source Flash Site To Study?
Hello folks,
I've been taking tutorial after tutorial (and learning alot!) I think I've come a ways, but I've found that studying .fla files really teach me quite a bit. I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere that I can find a whole website that I can study the source from or that offers a .fla file? or go to to download?

Flash Mx Certification.
I dunno if this has been posted....but I'm curious if anyone here has the macromedia flash mx developer cert?
and if so, would you be willing to share some helpful hints and/or tips for the exam?
I'm getting ready to take it soon, but don't think I'm ready yet. $150 is a bit much to waste on a test that I feel I'm not prepared for.

Flash Certification Books?
I have been using Flash for awhile and recently noticed that they are offering a certification exam. So far, I have not delved to deeply into actionscript and was wondering if someone knew of a good book(s) that would help me prepare for the exam. Even if I do not go for the certification, at least I would learn more about the actionscript.

I have ACE in photoshop cs, seems not helpful at all.
2.where you guys look for web/design/develop position? I use monster.com dice.com and hotjobs.com, seem not very effective.

Flash Certification (ACE) Worth It?
Hi, I am brand new to this forum and am considering going into Flash development. I have been a helpdesk analyst for the past 2 years and have always been interested in development/programming.
I was wondering whether or not anyone feels it is worth to get the adobe flash developer certification and or flash designer certifications (ACE) to help get my foot through the door in this field. I have middle knowledge of Flash; however I want my career to go in this direction and pursue it. I have no previous design/development experience since I have been doing helpdesk...any help or advise would be greatly appreciated...

Adobe Certification For Flash 8
hi,
is there any certification guide available for flash 8? previously there was seperate exams for designer and developer now i believe it's combined to a single exam where both developing and designing skills will be tested. I'm completely unaware how my preperations should be and also i don't find any details about the minimum scores to get certified.the preperation guide pdf availabe in the site just gives an outline about the exam which will not be helpful.so kindly let me know some information about this and isd there anyone who have attempted this test?

Flash/ Live Motion And To Get Certification Or Not
I was introduced to the world of web animation about two years ago, my backgroud is in sound design and music composition.
I use Adobe live motion to do my animation, and it works very well. my question is...I would really love to get work doing flash animation...but many in the industry use flash and are not really interested in my live motion knowledge. Even though I can do the a lot of the same stuff. So is there anyone out there using live motion as well? and if you are, how easy do you find it to get work? Or should I just learn Macromedia Flash? Also, is it really worth it to get certification in either product to get design companies to notice you.

Hi . Has anyone taken any of the Macromedia University online training courses? If so, have they been helpful? I've noticed that the listings havent been updated for Flash 8. They are all MX2004. Flash MX Certification Program Dumped By Adobe?

Wanted to post this topic because I'm really curious on how many of us are there that haven't yet got that diploma from Adobe.

The consequence of what happened is this: developers/designers that have taken Macromedia(now Adobe) exams since December 2005(not sure about the exact month) still haven't got their exam kits. From what I know, this happened not only to Flash but for Dreamweaver exams as well.
Anyone who tried to get a straight answer(through email,forums and even call support) have only gotten stuff like: "the company is suffering from the aquisition" or "you'll be getting it soon"(and several months have passed since then...).
For about a month or more now, the link for the Developer Listing is missing. Again nada...
Now, it is a bit irritating since I actually paid for that. Sure, it's enough reward to know I passed that Flash Developer exam in first try, but still...I hoped I can somehow put that on my CV. All I got is that testing-center score report print.
Not much we (all those in the same scenario) can do about that, but just thought a few rants wouldn't hurt anyone

Study As3.0?
How can I study the changes in AS 3.0 from 2.0?
I know AS 2.0. But I don't know to define classes in it. All AS 3.0 tutorials start with "this is a tutorial for beginners....".
But didn't help me actually. All contains some packages and classes. Is there anything other than this?
I have some problems learning AS 3.0 because I know some AS2.0
Some of them are:
How do I play or stop the _root timeline calling from inside another movieclip.
In 2.0, I know it is _root.gotoAndPlay() or _root.play(). This won't work in AS3.
How to make a simple preloader for the swf using the ENTER_FRAME event?
I want some nice easy tutorials to migrate into AS3. Do you know some which shows these types of differences?

Employment Or Study?
I am a 28yr old uk resident and have been into design for a while now. Since discovering Flash I have tried to concentrate on this area but find it hard to allocate time to studying whilst holding down a full time career. Eventually I would like to be able to find employment as a full time Flasher but am wondering just how to get some a foot in the door, so to speak. It seems that although I am progressing at a steady rate I would benefit from receiving some mentoring from a senior designer/developer. I am competent, if not blinkin' fabulous, at designing but need to learn to be able to utilise my skills in more of a develpment role. You know, building games and small corporate programs and such.
I have searched extensivley for suitable courses on Flash but unless I am looking in the wrong places all seem to be a few days long and charge ridiculous amounts of money. I don't beleive you can seriously condense any amount of content into such a short space of time.
I need to find out firstly, if there are any workplacements available for a junior like myself, or if there is anywhere that I can find this info out. Even if I end up working solely for travelling expenses I don't mind. Secondly I would like to know if there are any decent courses on Acvtionscripting for Flash. As I said I am at a fairly reaonable stage with Flash but it has been a long struggle and I now wish to propell myself somewhat into becoming a well repected Flasher in a few years time.

Most actionscript books show you how to build a digital clock or a color slider but i dont want to learn that stuff i want to learn about tweened websites like the douglas fisher.
Movement with actionscript and maybe even the use of xml.
Can somebody advise me in a good book, cause tutorials dont really go deep enough to learn and build a whole site like that.

Action Script Study
Hello,
I have used Flash for years. I pick up on graphics stuff pretty quickly but I am now being called upon to do some pretty in depth action scripting and I am no programmer for sure. I would like to pick up some good reference books but need something for the lay person, an 'Action Script for Dummies' or something to that effect. Does anybody have a suggestion and should I focus on Flash or Action Script and if the later, which version?

Study On Cartoon Movement
I'd did this because I have to for bug testing purposes, but I'm posting this mainly because every time I mention on this board that I'm doing my cartoon thingy that by now you've probably noticed is my main focus not simply keyframe by keyframe, people look at me funny and say that would be impossible.
Anyway, here's a character flailing his limbs wildly and in a completely illogical manner purely to make sure everything's working, if anyone's curious. It should give you an idea as to how to make a cartoon with flash, in case anybody's interested in that.
I lowered the frame rate to 12 fps so it's easier to follow, because the real reason to do this is to check if there's any bugs with the character design (I'll have to do something like this for every character from every angle). In this one, there is. His hands aren't clean enough, the left one especially. Their lines move around a bit when the hand should just be rotating.

i have the following script that looks at a simple XML formed document and diplays the values of the childnodes of the root elements. It also picks out and displays the attributes of the child nodes.

my problem is that i am getting no further,
i want to be able to pick out information from nodes nested several levels deep within an XML structured file. I am getting very confused with the looping through different level to get all the information and attributes required
Does anyone know of any really good online resources for XMl and Flash?
