Flash Drop Down Menu Over HTML
Hey guys,

I just wanted to know if this was possible, I need to make an animated drop down menu over an HTML Frameset. In other words I need the menu to drop from the top frame over the body of the main frames page. All I need is a direction, Is this possible at all? Actionscript? Or should I settle for a DHTML or Java menu?

I've created a horizontal Flash Menu I'm going to use in an HTML website.

I have added some drop down links to this menu - but I'm not sure how to overlay the Flash Menu over the HTML that is below this.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this or know of any tutorials for this method?

I'm having a problem, which you'll see if you'll go to this link www.clarazinc.com there on this page (which I'm making for my client) if you'll move your mouse pointer over the button "products" the
drop-down menu is suppose to drop down but as you can see it is blocked by the flash movie advertizing. What is wrong with this? Why, after almost finishing the web site for my client I have to face this never heard of problem? Why? <----- don't mind me going crazy..

Using Flash Drop Down Menu For Html Website

I am wondering if someone can advise what I can do with Flash Drop Down menu using for html website. The problem is that I cannot make this website in frames. It would easily to solve this problem. Also, I need the drop down menu to show the actual name of the link corresponding to the html page is loaded. Now, when another html page is loaded it also loading the flash drop menu again and of course it started from the beginning. However, I need to make that when html page is loaded with this flash drop down menu to tell the menu to go to the frame where the name of corresponded page is shown and stay there. I need to send the variable from html page. I think I can place it in html page. And then, I need a code that will tell to go to a specific frame in the menu depending on the variable received from html page. I played with that, however, without a success yet.
Any advice is highly appreciated.

Help With Embedding Flash Drop Down Menu In HTML

I have spent hours creating a drop down menu using flash pretty much from scratch. I have run into a bump in the Road. Basically what i'm trying to do is add my drop down menu into a HTML document. The problem i'm having is that the menu itself is only 50px in height, but with the drop down links it goes over 350px. What i need to do is somehow find a code that will enable the drop down links to go over my html page, rather than requiriing the full 350px height.

Drop Down Flash Menu Over Html Page
I swear I have seen a way to set up a flash movie where when someone mouses over a button in flash, the movie drops a menu on top of HTML on the page. This would increase the real estate on the page and make room for more buttons.

Problems With Flash Transparent Drop Down Menu Over Html In Some Browsers
Hi everyone... this is my first post and it's about an issue that's causing me a few problems.

I'm currently designing/ building my company's web site, the test page be viewed here: www.musflashtv.com/test.htm

1) This layout contains an embeded flash movie (.swf) with a transparent background, this is the main navigation.

The flash navigation has a drop down menu that animates down and covers the html page (containing links) below.

The problem is that in most current browsers such as; Firefox 2.0.05 (links below template don't work), Netscape 8.1.3 (navigation drop down and links don't work) and Opera 9.10 (links below template don't work), any links just below the 'invisible' transparent area coverd by the navigation can't be clicked 'through the flash file'. The exception is IE 7.0, everything is fine there. (it hasn't been tested in any mac browsers though).

Because the area below the navigation on www.kitachi.info/work is one large dummy jpeg file, the link below would be a much better example to look at.

The flash navigation is embedded in the html (tlp) template file using the code below and aligned using an external style (.css) sheet, this html code not only embeds the flash movie but it also tells the browser to display it's background and as transparent. The flash movie is embedded in a layer that sits above the table.

Image-changing Drop-down Menu
I'm trying to find a tutorial that demonstrates something like this:
you have a series of drop-down menus on one side. You have an image on the other side. For example, an image of a car. When you choose a color from one of the drop-down menus, like blue, the car turns blue. When you select different rims, the rims on the image change. So I need an image for each variation, but I want to learn how the functionality of this would work. Ideally, upon choosing all of the options, you could click a submit button that would send all of the selections via email. Any suggestions on a starting point for this?

I was wondering if there is a way to integrate a flash drop down menu into a html file where the drop down menu is able to overlap html portions of the page. For example, is it possible to export a 25 pixels high flash navigation bar without having the drop down portion (which extends to 150 pixels) be cut off?

I kept the height of the main menu (i.e. Home , Contacts, About Us...) 25 pixels and of the flash file 25 pixels,I wish to put this menu in my webpage in a table, with a row of same height 25 pixels but when I hover over Contact Us in my webpage the drop down buttons(i.e. ABC, PQR, XYZ) are getting hided behind my table and not displaying in front....

the drop downs are working fine when I run it in flash itself...
How to solve this problem??.......

Most of my website is in HTML but I have a flash drop down menu thats in a table of its own.

Because its in a table of its own the drop down part of the menu ddoes not show. As the menu is droping down behind the other table below is there anyway that i can make the drop down menu appear over the other tables?

Drop Menu To Load Html MX04
hi all,

Im having trouble with deciding the best method to create a drop down menu.

I need a menu with 7 items, each that has a sub-menu with between 2-3 sub items. the catch is that i want the menu to open html pages. i made a sample menu (cant upload yet :-( ) but i cant fill the empty area next to the menu with the text from the html as it obviously wont allow the html content to fill the emtpy flash area. any ideas? or is html / javascript better to use?

Flash Drop Down Menu Like Fireworks Drop Down Menu
Is it possible to make a drop down menu in flash that drops down on top of html on the webpage? (i'm not sure how to describe this, what I mean is a drop down menu like the one used on Launch.com) I know this is possible in fireworks, but I want the buttons to have flash rollovers... is it possible to first off do this in flash or 2nd import my flash to fireworks and then make the drop down from there? Flash Expanding Menu Instead Of Javascript Drop Down Menu?
I am trying to make a flash file that will take the place of a javascript drop down menu. I need to have a slim horizontal menu bar surrounded top and bottom by the rest of the HTML webpage.

The function of the flash menu would be such that when one of the buttons are moused over > the menu would expand over the HTML images below it with more menu buttons.

This is really easy to do with javascript but I want the creative freedom flash offers. Does anyone know how I can create a flash file that can expand larger than it’s original size on the webpage

I have seen some really neat flash banner ads that definitely are on top of other html. Maybe I could do something like that.

Please let me know any ideas or resources I could use to do this.

Drop Menu / Combo Box Menu In Flash MX
Im trying to develop a really simple (i.e. 4 or so links) via a Flash MX Combo Box component...

Im lost as to how the action script looks to actually make it 'work'... I understand how to use the component to create the drop menu (i.e. - the labels and the data (URL) lists)...

Does anyone have an example they can show me or is there a Tutorial somewhere that I've missed in my Googling? (I tried Flashkit.com but no luck.

PROBLEM DETAILS:
I am building a swf menu for an HTML site. It has the following buttons:

SectionA

SectionB

SectionC

What I want to do is modify the text when the HTML page for the correspoding section is loaded. So, if I click on "SectionB", SectionB.html loads. Now I want that button "SectionB" in the swf to have a background glow.

Of course the catch is, that each time a new HTML page loads, it reloads the swf menu (No Frames please!). So, naturally I know I can just tell the swf menu to go to a certain place in the timeline where there is the glow graphic behind "SectionB". But the swf needs a variable saying it is on a Section B HTML page. (of course I could build a seperate swf for each section - but that seems stupid.)

THUS....

MY QUESTION:
How do I pass a variable from a swf on one HTML page (that is being replaced by a new HTML page!), to a swf on a new HTML page.

Can I do this with a GET/POST or something?

I know its probably a common question, but I'm having an issue in Firefox.
I have a flash drop down menu using transparency, layered using z-index.
In firefox, you are not able to click links under the area where the drop down menu hovers over...

Does anyone know a fix for this?

OK I know this is true newbie but...

I've been asked to duplicate a dropdown flash menu system I had in a flash only CDROM and use it in a HTML page.

Ofcourse the trouble is I'm being stupid, I've shrunk the movie size to that of the button so when they rollover, the rollover dropdown menu is cutoff. However if I give it the required length I have a big gap under the menu, I know there must be a tutorial in DW for it but I'm lost totally on this.

can someone please guide me in the correct direction

Highlighting Menu Option On Flash Menu In HTML Page
Hi Folks,

I have created a Flash menu to work with an HTML based site (the menu is the object in all the pages), but I would like the menu option to stay highlighted when clicked. I've created a series of buttons that highlight when they are scrolled over, but when they are clicked, the button returns to its normal state, as it should. I did come up with a not-so-nice solution, by loading a new movie whenever the user clicks on the option, and the new movie has the menu selection highlighted. Is there a way for the user to click on the menu option and have it stay highlighted until a new menu selection is clicked without having to create mutliple movies?

I want is to be able to move the timeline on a MovieClip if there is no cursor activity for a specified length of time.

I'm building a drop down menu and I want it to disappear when not needed.

Situation:
The Main Nav buttons are all on the main timeline. The Subnav is a Movie Clip in which each menu consitutes 4 frames. I'm getting around using frame labels and gotoAndPlay.

Flash 5 Drop Down Menu HELP
Can someone help me out with a simple drop down menu? I've created this menu (attached) in Flash 5, but I don't know how to do certain things.
For example:
• When I mouseover 'BUTTON 1' the drop down menu comes down (that's cool), but if I decide to mouseover it again, I don't want the menu to play again. I'm not sure if I need to use an 'if' statement. I don't even know how to use it.
• If I rollout of 'BUTTON 1" or any of the submenus under it (button1a, button1b, button1c), I want it to disappear.
• Likewise if I was on 'BUTTON 2' the submenus come down, but I would want the submenus from 'BUTTON 1' and 'BUTTON 3' not showing.

If anyone can help I would be very appreciative.

menu is created as a movie clip with buttons, I call another movie clip by doing action script

on (release)

this(when link is pressed from the menu) slides in pictures in using another movie clip. but if I press a different link then, the pictures stay there and you can't see the other images coming in because the pic movie clip is still there?.

also, sometime if press the pictures link...a different link will appear if pressed a few times.

am I making any sense...can anybody help????

We have created a drop down menu (similar to DHTML menu) using Flash. This menu is placed using Layers and the movie is made trasparent so that the below content is visible.

Now the problem is, the text below the movie is not accessible or the links are not clickable. This is because of the layer that we have placed above for the drop down menu.

Can any body suggest a solution for this issue. We would like to use the Flash menu as it is (we have spent lot of time in developing it. We didn't test this before working on that).

Flash Drop Down Menu
I have created a flash drop down menu that links to different urls. It works fine when I test it in flash but when I embed it in dreamweaver it will not work. (no pages open when clicked on buttons).
I have the same drop down menu working on a different page with different links and it works fine.

This has been a struggle of mine with flash for a long time. I would like to make a flash drop down menu (rollover a button and subchoices become available). I would like to have gaps between the submenu buttons and for them not to be flush with the button above. How in the world can I get the RollOut state to hide the submenu without using a large invisible button. There has to be a clean way to do this.

I am learning ActionScript 2.0 for about 6 months and I have create a flash based website. My question is how to allow a drop down menu to animate outside of a Shockwave files boundaries. I have seen Flash menus that do this and also I have seen some banner ads that allow animation to display outside of the swf file. Is there any tutorials or information out there that I can learn?
