Using Flash MX Quiz Template:

Help!

Need to be able to use links inside the “Feedback will Appear Here” dynamic text field. So when a user misses a question he/she can click on a link placed inside the feedback text field (Template_Feedback instance) that would open up another SWF movie that contains further information on the question missed.

What I’ve done so far is changed text property of Template_Feedback from a single line to multiple line, resized text field as needed, and set Render text to HTML. The HTML 1.0 link is easily typed into the Incorrect Feedback field found in the Component ParameterOptions window, but where I’m stuck is how and where to make the changes in the global AS so the HTML code can be recognized within the feedback text field.

The Quiz containing T&F, multiple choice questions, and short answer questions is functioning fine – I just need to be able to use links as part of my feedback. Has anyone done this or know how? I’m slowly working through Colin Mook’s new book but have not had time to complete all enhancements to the quiz exercise; too much work and not enough play…

Quiz Component And Shared Objects (Flash MX)
Hello,
I'm developing a quiz application based on Flash Quiz templates (working with Flash MX).

This application will work offline (i.e. a projector), and I've been asked to keep track of user activities, so that it would be possible to resume data when reopening the application after having abandoned it before the end of the test.

I'm quite sure that I can use shared objects to store locally ALL the content of the Quiz object, but I'm having a hard time since I'm not actionscript expert , and I cannot understand how to pass data from the actual object to the shared object.

Can Flash Quiz Component Talk To DataTel/Peoplesoft?
Hi Guys,

I need to know if Flash can export information from a test score, using the Quiz components, into a SIS(student information system) database.

I understand that with Flash 2004 pro it is scorm and aicc compliant, but all I saw was it can talk to an LMS(Learning Management System) such as WebCT or Blackboard.

I need to create prerequesits tests that sends the information to our system. Either a pass or fail.

Or is this going to take a lot of programming?

Does anybody have a clue?

Flash Quiz MX2004 Professional/ Component Inspector Problems
I am a newbie doing a flash quiz template. Every time I get to a certain point in my template I receive this error and it locks up the template and I cannot get to the Components Inspector to open.

These are a few of the things I was doing when my template was playing fine in "Test Movie"

1. Designed the Hot Spot Interaction-Aligned movie clips over objects, saved flash document then did Shift F12. Test Movieworked great

2. Designed Multiple Choice Interaction--Decreased font size thru the Prop Panel size ten on the stage. Resized ea checkbox w/in Info Panel. Changed answers in Component Inspector under Parameters. Saved Flash then Shift F12. Test Movie worked!

But the Hot Spot Interaction suddenly wouldnt work! Went back to .fla and all the movie clip symbols were no longer movieclips!

I tried Modify>Break Apart received this error:

"Some characters could not be broken apart because an appropriate outline font is not avaiable choose undo if ou want to revert to previous state. "

Result: I reverted to only come to the same area with all of the letters had tiny boxes around each one. They were 'static text' versus 'dynamic text' movieclips were no longer symbols.

This is the second time I get to a certain point and the quiz locks up...meaning I cannot get the Component Inspector>Parameters to enable because of the "Modify Breakapart error"

I cant keep creating a new template. I must learn what I am doing wrong. I am self taught through Learn.com with very little Action Script
experience. Im hanging out here by myself. HELP! MEOW! HELP!

Quiz Component?
I seem to remember seeing a quiz or test component. Have I gone mad or can someone help me?

QUIZ Component Help.
I'm making a quiz, and it all works fine, but I want to add a condition to the end where if they get a certain percentage right it will take them to a webpage to print out a certificate that is on the server, and if they didn't get enough it will take them to another frame in the flash that will let them retake the quiz...

Quiz Component
I am trying to create a simple True False Quiz using "Quiz Component". I need to have 13 True false questions appear on the screen at one time. The user goes down the list and answers all 13 questions and on answering final question it goes to a frame and displays the results.

Most of the tutorials I have read and the "quiz component" only display one question and answer at a time. You answer and then it asks you the next question.

Does anyone have any samples or links to this single page approach.

Anyone Use The Quiz Component?
I have to make a quiz for a project and I am using the quiz component that came with flash and works really well. My question is, when a user gets the answer wrong or right, you have the option of sending them to a certain frame. Say the question is on frame 1 and after they answer it goes to frame 2. Does anyone know of a way to pick a frame depending on if they get it right or wrong? Like if the question is on F1, the user gets it wrong and is sent to F2 for a review, but if they were to answer it correct, they are sent to F3 which would be question 2.

Quiz Component: Does It Exist On Its Own?
I hope this isn't an ignorant question.

I'm using Flash MX and I have the quiz templates. Within the templates is the quiz component. The quiz component seems to control the tracking features of the learning interaction components.

Okay, so the learning interaction components exist separately in the "common libraries" of Flash. Does the quiz component exist anywhere else other than within the quiz templates?

The reason I ask is I'm wondering if it's possible to put together a quiz without using the quiz templates.

Quiz Component - No Good
I'm using quiz template, everything was fine, but after working on it for few days I get some strange behaviour:
When I run quiz if I click navigation button (for next question) right away, it doesn't work! But, the frame navigation (numbers in the bottom right corner) works, it shows the next frame (e.g. 2/20). Yet, all I see is the first frame, frozen.
If I wait a few seconds, it works normally.
It's really strange, beacuse it was fine until last hour?! I cannot leave it like this, I cannot just go under the assumption that every user will wait few seconds before using the 'next button'.

MX Quiz Component.. Add Preloader
Hi.

I have a Quiz component inside an external swf loading to a main movie. This works fine. Since it is for online presentation, I need to add a preloader to the swf. Adding 2 frames for the preloader code and progress bar causes the component to quit working. So far, I have gotten it to work, up to the second from the last question, then it quits.

Does anyone know what has to be done to make this work? Sorry, I can't attach the file.

Quiz Component. Adding A Preloader
Does anyone have experience with the quiz component? This component is in an external swf and needs a preloader. The problem is, if you add two frames to the beginning of the movie for the preloader code, it quits working. Any help would be great.

Component Quiz Buttons Not Working

I am only able to get one set of buttons to work. I thought I named everything correct.

[F8] Adobe Quiz Component Issue
I have created a quiz movie, it loads each quiz as a swf, within the main movie shell.
my problem is that i created one of the three quiz types using the flash quiz component. when i click on next question in takes me to frame two in the shell movie rather than in itself. i dont have time to rebuild them all -- the two best solutions i can think of are -----

1) to convert the individual fla files to symbols - this doesnt work for me as when i selct all the elements only parts are changed to the symbol - the action script part doesnt convert and some other parts

2) fix the code in the fla so that it works when loaded into the movie as a swf file - i have looked at it but this seems beyond my coding knowledge

can any one help help me with either of these options or suggest an alternative route thanks

Quiz Component Random Errors
I need some help!
I have built a quiz using the components. I have a bank of 15 questions, and the component is set to random a total of 5 questions. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it randomly picks the 5 questions and everything is fine. Other times, it randomly picks the 5 questions, but one of the questions loads without the answer text - it just says "radio button" - and there is nothing I can see that causes this. I have rebuilt the faulty question that appears, but then the next time its a different question.

Has anyone experienced this, and if so what the HECK do I do to fix it?!

Quiz In Window Component Does Not Work
When placed inside a Window component the quiz template does not work.
As soon as you begin the quiz it hangs. Any idea why?

Problem With Drag And Drop Quiz Component
Hello

Please could you have a go at my flash quiz. It's really simple! You just drag and drop the numbers into the right order. (it's meant to be simple because it is for adults with severe learning disabilities).

But you'll notice just sometimes something strange happens!

Occasionally and quite randomly (I think), when you complete one question and move onto another, the answer from the previous question remains on the screen. So you can't drag and drop the new question. Does that make sense?

Has anyone seen this before? Any idea what might cause it?

PS Any additional feedback on how I could improve the suitability of the quiz for adults with learning difficulties would be greatly appreciated. E.g. I would like to do things like display a green tick or a red cross instead of the standard text feedback. Is this possible?

Quiz Component Does Not Work When Loaded Into Movie Help
G'day all

I'm really stuck on this one I have made a quiz from the template changed skins styles size, and everything works fine as a standalone but when I load into the movie it won't work.

I'm using the load movie into a container clip. I know it has something to do with the paths but I just can't get it.

Drag & Drop Quiz Component - Depths Issue
I wonder if someone could help me. I am building a drag & drop question using the Quiz Component that comes as part of Flash MX 2004 Professional.

My problem is that 1 have 3 images therefore 3 targets yet 2 need to be on top of each other, as items need to be placed on top of each other in the correct order.

I need to be able to click item 1 and drag over to target 1, then when released force that depth of item 1 to the bottom. Next click item 2, well this doesn't really matter because it is a larger area and is lower down so not a problem, but the last item 3 needs to be able to see target 3, which would normally be under target 1.

The dragable movie clips are called Drag1, Drag2 & Drag 3 and the target movie clips are called Target1, Target2 & Target3. All of these movie clips are contained within one movie clip called DragDrop on the main timeline.

I pray to the Gurus of ActionScript to see if this can be done, any example or quidance would be much appreciated.

I have an example which can be found at www.iglooweb.co.uk/test/test.zip I have abit of AS on the drag button to colour the target area so that I know I am addressing the correct target but the AS to getNextHighestDepth(); does not seem to be working. I have also tried swapping depths, that doesn't seem to work properly either.

Weird Font Transition When Using Component Inspector To Make Quiz
I'm using Flash's built-in component inspector to create a quiz.

For some odd reason, when the question scenes come up, the text next to the radio buttons is in the wrong font, then a split-second later it changes to the correct font.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a way to correct this?

Drag And Drop Quiz - Why Do Targets Keep Appearing In Subsequent Quiz Questions?
I'm trying to create an e-learning quiz that will be a series of drag and drop questions (one per page). The user will be asked a question and will have 8 images visible, but only one of them is correct. So, there are 8 drags to one target.

When the user drags an incorrect image to the target, a text image appears that says to try again, and the image will return to its original location. When the correct question is dragged to the target, a button appears that will take them to the next question. Everything was working until I started to create question 2. I created new drag and drop instances for question 2, but it seems that the images from question 1 continue to be visible in the subsequent question(s) when testing my movie. Depending on how many choices I try to drag before I pick the correct answer in question 1, I also find that some of the button states are no longer active in question 2. What I am doing wrong?

I'm new to AS3 and actionscript in general. Part of my code is based on this tutorial: http://www.monkeyflash.com/flash/drag-and-drop-in-as3/.

I'm attaching my .fla file in hopes this will help others who are having the same problem.

Quiz Or Quiz Template Help For The Clueless?
Hi all. I just wanted to make a simple quiz in flash and then take that quiz and throw it in with some other older flash samples I made. I'm losing my mind as my "handle" for this forum implies

I tried following the help section for the flash quiz template, but I got even more confused! The help/tutorial talks about using a randomizer and I couldn't find the randomizer for the life of me!!

Is there anyone out there that can help me? Maybe you have a script for a basic quiz I can use, or you can send me somewhere online that will help me out. I looked at Atomic Learning's site, but they didn't say if they have tutorials for making a quiz. I have the paperback, "Teach yourself Flash MX in 24 hours" and when I got to page 310, Task: Make a simple draggable object, #2 I had no %$!! clue as to where I was supposed to find "the button instance and open the Actions panel" let alone the "plus button, actions, movie clip control, startDrag".

Can/Will someone please, please, please help me? If I need to be talked/through over the phone or IM, I'll pay for your tutoring services. I'm in northern cali.

Also need to know how the heck to throw the old flash movies (or files) into one big movie with the quiz. Of course, I needed it yesterday.

Help Quiz Template Or Other Quiz Resources?
I'm reading the macromedia tutorial on using the built in quiz template and it keeps talking about AICC and SCORM compliant learning management systems...but it doesn't say anything about using the quiz template if you are not using an LMS. Does anybody know:

1. If I can use the quiz template, generating results and all, if I am not using an LMS?
2. If not, any resources on the web that can help me build a quiz from scratch. I'm not soo good at the actionscripting, and usually rely on web resources to get me through that part of the process. Something tells me there will be a lot of AS involved in scoring a quiz.

Here is the flash quiz fla that accompanies the text file I posted earlier. They must be in the same folder to work.

How To Do A Quiz In Flash
I would like to have a flash based quiz consisting of 6 questions with three possible answers to each question. Ideally once the 6th question is answered the viewer will get told how much out of six were correct. Is this possible?, are there any examples on flash kit? Anyone with an actionscript example?

I am currently putting together a flash movie to be used for training purposes. A test/ quiz element is required at the end of it all. Unfortunately I haven't a clue how to do it. I am using MX and was wondering if anyone out there would be kind enough to direct me to a tutorial or a SWF file that covers this kind of thing.

i am trying to creat quiz for my work but my problem is if i use 6 diff interaction they work just fine but when i try to add question 7 whiich i have tried true & flase, hotspot,fill in the blank they all show the same question

so if question one is true & flase
& question 7 is true & flase they all show same question

same story if i try to duplicate any of the other interaction

Flash Quiz Help

I am creating a flash quiz using the Macromedia quiz template.
I want to create the hot object quiz.
I ended up with two problems:

1. The first question works fine. However, the quiz won't reset for the next question. In question 2, the choice answer for question one is still highlighted. To be able to work the problem I have to click on an answer and then press the reset button.

2. The results page does not display correctly the score number

Anyone who knows how to fix these problems, please let me know.

Flash Quiz
I have an interesting question that has stumpped many including myself. With flash mx 2004 you get a quiz template..everything is awsome and it is very customizable execpt for the navigation.My problem lies here. I'm creating a quiz with 100 questions, and I want to make a skip button available to the user to be able to skip a question and see it at the end. So, if there are a 100 question and you skip question 5 it will become question 101, and so on. The thing is whatever code you make needs to conform with what is already provide with template.

I hope somebody can help

I want to make a quiz in flash. Have 21 questions that are shuffled and the quiz has 7 questions with 3 alternatives and ofcourse one right answer. 5 out of 7 rights plays a movieclip and if you fail another movieclip plays.

is this possible to do?

hi guys, i am very new to flash and have have been teaching myself it for the last couple of weeks by making a quiz that i will hopefully be able to use with my students!! anyway, i have created the quiz with a mix of the quiz templates and from various tutorials of the internet, and i now want to create a time limit for it, and have no idea how to go about this and could not find any helpfull tutorials on the internet!!

Hi there,
i'm trying to develop a quiz in flash.
Searching on the net, I found a quiz in flashkit by sephiroth.it by Alessandro Crugnola.
His quiz has a script that puts the questions and the answers in random order.
What i'm looking for is to not select the answers by clicking the mouse, but using the keyPress handler.
Using the keyPress handler the script selects only the first answer.
I tried a lot but i didn't find any solution..
2 hours ago, I thought that I found a solution using if(this._name=="answer1") but it works only with the "on(release)" handler, when I replace it with the on(keyPress) the script selects again only the first answer...
Any help would be much appreciated...

QUIZ In Flash
I am trying to create a quiz for a students. Where on a CD a flash movie opens with link to a) a long course movie and b) a test

The course movie is already created and works fine
Then I can create a exe flash file with autorun to link to this movie. The idea is the student get the CD and places in the CD the flash movie open with two links. Link one links to standard swf movie. This all works Once watched they can close the window down returning to the lauched flash movie. I can do all of this no problem. The issue comes in some way there need to 20 question that I can score and rank. The interaction of use needs to recorded to text file that I can direct them to at the end of test.

So the question would be is it possible via action scripting of a method in flash to create a text file in the users my documents folder and then write to based on buttons pressed or text imputs ? Some ideas if this is possible and chat about quizs would be great.

Sorry to bother here, i'm seekin for help.
I'm tryin to make a quiz, for my class (i'm a part-time teacher), and i thought it will be fun to make it like sort of "who wants to be millionare" things. I'm not a regular flash user, so there're many things that i don't understand about flash.

This is the interface, and there i gave numbers that i will refer later.

After reading the manual and browsing around, i finally be able to create a so-called script, but then i face some difficulties and obstacles, so i like to seek any help from all you masters and gurus here.
My questions are.

1.Like the "who wants to be a millionare" quiz, this quiz is also have increasing score, like when you choose the right answer, your score will increase. How do i create "scores" (number three), what kind of script/command should i use?

2.How do i create several random sets for the questions and answers (number 1 and 2), i mean if i finally be able to create a quiz here, can i create several set of random question instead of just repeating the same?

Terribly sorry for my bad english, i'm not very used to it.
