Flash MX Halting On Command Deselect All



Hi please help me. I have a an image imported from illustrator. The Problem is, my Flash MX was always halted every time i desellect the images.

my fla files was 5MB, im using 2000 server with 1 gig memory. If im working with small files theres no problem.

Anyway the file im working is a map.

Halting A Movie
How do you freeze a movie clip where it is when it finished playing, while everything else continues to run? Thanks.

Game Halting?
hey everyone!
Long time no see for lots of you, hope you're all doing well!

As some of you may be aware I created a game, TBA -But im having some problems I don't really understand.

Sometimes when the game loads (usually first time) the engine draws the grass then halts before making the character visible and for some reason removes the interface movie clip so theres no navigation/chat along the bottom. Now I never actually coded it to not display the interface -the interface is just a static mc on the stage and there is no code that states it to _visible = false.

Which immediately questions my original thoughts that flash was halting as of cpu overload. Not only that -If you take the tutorial it load the tutorial mc which it is coded to load last.

So, all in all, it seems to be loading the grass graphics- then halting for the main functions, afterwhich it resumes and loads the final tutorial module.

It all seems a bit surreal to me -If anyone has any thoughts please let me know as i have tried everything in my knowledge.

Halting Progress Bar
I'm working with a Flash application and periodically the progress bar that displays as it loads will hang, only progressing when the mouse is in motion (but the application runs fine in these cases, if one wiggles the mouse around enough to let the progress bar complete). The issue is intermittent but definitely not rare, and I am completely perplexed by it.

Some background info, the application was developed in Flash 8 (ActionScript 2) and is delivered on a website via calls to the SWFObject JavaScript library. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Halting FLV Streams
Hello

I'm building a xml powered flv player. I am wondering whether it is possible using actionscript 2 to just load in the first frame of an flv. The reason I'm interested is that we have a bandwidth issue and want to display the first frame of some animations we have generated ,but hoped we might be able to avoid streaming the entire flv in unless the viewer explicitly requests that.

Can any help? It would be much appreciated.

Halting Functions At Some Event
Hey everybody,

I'm building a game that has animals moving around on stage that you get to shoot at (albeit with a tranqulizer gun :-)

I have a function I call "moveMyAnimal" which contains quite a bit of code, but the main part is script that moves the particular animal across the stage until it reaches a certain destination, at which point it is unloaded.

My problem comes when you shoot the animal--currently I have the hitTest attached to the dart as it gets shot, and if it hits an animal, it has the animal movie go to a frame that shows the animal laying down with a dart in its side, but the animal keeps bookin' across the stage.

How can I break the movement inside of a function that's spooling away the whole time it's on stage--how can I call to it, or halt it?

I would like to tell a movie on another level to play and also wait 3 seconds and then play another level.

All on the one button action that is on an entirely different level..

I this possible as I have searched and not found a way... I'm sure one of the legends out there can answer the question with there eyes closed..

GetURL Javascript Halting Page Load
My problem is that I'm running a short flash movie (~7s) that loads on top of a page in a div. The movie slides across and becomes transparent, revealing the page below.
Once the movie reaches the end, it calls the getURL function, like this: getURL("javascript:hideBottle();");
The hide bottle function simply calls to make the div hidden.
The code for the movie is near the top, (it has to cover the page before the page loads, or it loses it's purpose),
and so the movie loads before the page does. The problem occurs when the movie reaches the end and calls getURL before the rest of the page loads, because the page will simply stop loading, and not display the rest of the content, because the entire page is held within a table.
Is there any way to keep getURL from stopping the loading of the page, or is that even the issue?
Unfortunately, changing the page is not an option, and reducing the size of the flash movie only works so far, and can't guarantee that the problem stops.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I'm using Flash MX, but publishing as Flash 5.
And currently, I'm only displaying the movie if the browser is IE 5.0 or higher, and not on a Mac.

Wierd Keypad Actionscript Bug Is Halting My Project, Plz Help
I made a small .fla that illustrates the bug I am suffering from in a flash game I am trying to create.

The attached help.fla has a circle on the page, and a square up in the left corner. When you press left, right, and spacebar, an event happens where a larger circle appears and if you continue pushing those buttons it will go away. If you press left, up, and spacebar, nothing happens, but I have it coded correctly for the same thing to happen when those buttons are pushed. For some reason, flash can't tell when certain buttons are pushed at the same time. It makes no sense why! If I can hold up, right, and spacebar and use it as a condition, why can't I do it for up, left, and spacebar? If I can't get flash to reconize up, left, and spacebar as a condition, I can't finish my game which has an object moving up, down, left, right, and all the inbetween diagonals by pushing the keypad buttons.

There is code on the frame, the square, and circle. Please help!

Select And Deselect An MC
I am trying to have the capability to select or deselect a state or country with in a map. I need to be able to click once and have that state or country change colors when I click again I need it to revert back to the original color, so far I have posted this on several forums a have received no help(one attempt that did not work). If any one knows how to do this please help, I am fried......

I have noticed there are a lot of views with out postings on many questions, is this due to the probability this question has been asked over and over many times? If please forgive my lack of knowledge but that is why I am posting.

Select/Deselect With Arrays
I've been working on a project for the past few days, and i've hit a major stumbling block. Here's the deal:

I'm using buttons to duplicate movieclips, and storing their variable names in an array (ie: arrayname[x] = "item_" + x ). so the names are all catalogued by number.

That goes off without a hitch. Now what I want to do is click on one and "select" it. this is being done by telling the duplicated movieclip to go to the second frame, where it turns grey. When one is selected i want to deselect all of the others. this is where i have a problem.

inside the movieclip i have run through a while loop that looks like this:

while (i < arrayname.length) {
arrayname[i].gotoAndStop(1);
i++
}

When i run this script absolutely nothing happens. I've done traces, and all the variables check out alright, but for some reason they won't target the item_1, item_2, etc.

Can anyone think of why that might happen?

I have a problem with a textbox in flash. I have been using it previously without any problems. But it seems that from around the time I embedded fonts, I became unable to deselect from the textbox.

Once I click into the text box, the cursor remains there blinking no matter where else I click. This causes problems when trying to click through buttons as they beceom temperamental and bizzarely whether a button click is recognised seems to correspond with the blinking of the cursor in the textbox.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

CS3 Radio Button Deselect
Hi,

I am working in flash cs3 and the standard RadioButton, how can I toggle between a selected and deselected radioButton. If I select rb1 its selects, I click rb1 again it should deselect. I could do this this in AS2 no problem!

mycheckbox.selected = boolean - only works when you instantiate the radioButton

Radio Button Bug (won't Deselect Itself)
Hi there,

I looked everywhere but didn't find any solution to my problem.

I have done a quizz in Flash CS3 and I have 45 questions with radiobuttons and other stuff.
I got two bugs. On two different questions, one of the radiobutton won't get deselected if we click on it.
The fact is that I don't see any error (other groups, other names, etc.)

I'm starting to become crazy!!!

Deselect Radio Buttons
Is there a way to deselect all the radio buttons in a group? what I'm specifically trying to do is, once the user has selected the radio button and clicked my button to proceed to the next question in my quiz, it will load a new question and new radio button labels/values. that part works, but the radio button previously selected is still selected. I have tried:
radioGroup.selection = null:
radio_btn0.selected = false; (and repeat for the other 3)
and the same as above in a for loop.
None of this seems to work. Is this possible, or will one always be selected once the user interacts with the radio group the first time?

List Component - Deselect All
Hey all,
I find this ridiculous that it's not listed in the help file, but is there an AS command that deselects (i.e. un-highlights) an object in a list component? Once a selection is made and a button is hit, I want the selection to go back to nothing!

Drawing Board: How To Deselect Pencil?
This code is from a drawing board, the problem is:

1- When you click outside the drawing area, a dot is drawn (thus you cant click anything except inside drawing area because it will result in undesired dots)

2- When you drag outside the drawing area the dot is drawn (bad), the pencil doesn't draw (good), but if you drag until reaching the drawing area draws (undesired, because it should only draw when you started to drag from inside the drawing area)

Can someone tell me how to tweak the code or simple add a "deselect" tool option please?

List Component: Deselect Items Without Having To Use Ctrl?

quick question, when using the list component, a click highlights an item, but is there a way to deselect (or un-highlight) the items other than having to use the ctrl+click?

AS3 - After Command Another Command That Starts A Jump To A Specific Frame
Hi everyone,

I am a newbie using Flash CS3 and Actionscript 3.0. I have spent hours looking through forums and found no answer to my problem. Maybe it is because it's not possible but I just wanted to see if an expert can help me out.

I have a button and a few animations. Basically when I click the button I want to say: "When you are pressed down I want you to play at this specific frame for this many frames and then jump to a specific frame and play on there."

wrong code until now:

I'm modifying a flash.... and flash uses FS Command.

can you help me catch the fs command in javascript code?? because what I have is the vbscript code, and it does not work on some browsers.

my problem is to pass the arguments in using javascript(not vbscript) so that it will work on others browsers.

other options is to modify more the vbscript so that it will work on more other browsers...

but I dont know anything about vbscript and only basic javascript...

need help thanks a lot in advance.

FLASH 5- Help On FS Command
Can any one help me
1) to know how and when to use FSCommand is flash 5
2) Is it possible to use javascript interactivity in flash movie instead of inbuilt action script.
3)In flash 5 movie clip how to implement - popup window, mouseover hyperlinks effects, alert messages, using only javascript.( no inbuilt action script should be used)

Fs Command Flash MX
Hi,

I created a projector file in flash 5 wich contains a button with an exec command as follows :

on (release) {
fscommand("exec", "andre.exe");
}

It worked perfect on my computer at home.

Now I wanted to open it on an other computer with flash mx and when I click on the button, nothing seems to happen, no opening of andre.exe...

Is this due to a parameter on that other computer, or has it something to do with the newer version of flash ?

I found a tutorial which teach me how to load text (http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/externaldata.htm)....but there is a problem.....most tutorial dont tell you where is the command in the Flash, it just tell you copy here or why use this command....or is there a way to trace which command?

One of them was loadText.load("data.txt");
It raw command was <not yet set>.load();
It have an object and parameter to input
Can anyone tell me where is this command located on Flash actionScripts?

Xml Command To Flash
Hello guys!

I have made a menu in flash and on top of it some animations...coresponting to the menu options.

I have: -main_mc wich contains the menu buttons.
        -6 movies for each menu option
        -1 wipe_mc

How the menu works: when you press a button the wipe movie is called and this one loads the movie clip that is set to menu_selection (each button sets this variable with a value).

When the main_mc runs first the menu_selection is set to option1.

The page is made in html..only the menu is made in flash.
THE PROBLEM: in the html page there are several links. Let's say that i have the menu set on option1 wich is "flights" and in the html page is a link that coresponds to the third menu option "destinations". ?????????  How can i change the menu option from flash when a link from the html page is activate  ??????????

Maybe if i send a variable from xml to flash...but how can i do this?

Run A DOS Command In XP Through Flash
I would like to run a dos command from a flash projector file, any ideas how to run the command tracert ipAddress where ip is a variable assigned through a text field.

How Can I use the incredible Html Command in Flash.
Basically all it does is close your browser window, but it does it without an Alert.

How Do I Put A Javascrip Command In Flash
Hi

I am very new to flash and am working on my first site, however I have come stuck on one point. Using html I often use the following command to open an additional window to display a picture in a specific sized window eg.

javascript:popup('a3m.htm');

I know that flash uses actionscript which is simlar, but how do I use this is flash? I would be very grateful to anyone who can offer any suggestions or help.

QUIT ( ) Command In Flash 5.0
In Macromedia Director and Authorware, there is a command called QUIT which exits the projector, when it is activated.

Is there a command like this in Flash which will shut down the SWF window?

If not, how would you simulate this command?

Flash 5 - Stop Command
This should be easy. But it isn't.

I'm doing a preloader with the run protection (saw it in a tutorial somewhere on here and have the general idea just trying it out). However, I am just trying to make the movie stop using... stop;


So far I have two layers, one for an animation in the preloader, and one for main timeline.

The first fram does checks and things.
The second has the 'you cannot run this' (or will have)
The third onwards will be the rest of the preloader/movie.

I have put stop on the second frame and on the last fram yet when I check the 'publish preview' or press 'Ctrl+Enter' or 'Ctrl+Shift+Enter' it continues to loop.

I know it does because I have :
1) a test animation of the rest of the movie
2) a trace command which keeps printing

It has to be simple and I am wondering if someone can please point me in the right direction.


I'm just starting to use flash script more and have a background in VBA/VB coding.

A Javascript Able To Command A Flash ?
I 've got a flash (for the navigation) in a frame.
I've got another frame with html text (no flash) : inside this text, there's an hypertext link which is going to another section of the site.
So, I want a mean to say to my flash : "change of section when when the hypertext link is clicked.

I'm looking for a command that will make a script wait 10 seconds before it runs. like a timer or something.

I really want to use the mailto: command.. not a formail script

But if i use the line below... i get a mail with everything next to eachother.. is there a way to put a ENTER between every new object?

Flash 6/MX Save Command?
Hey, I was wondering if the Flash Player 6 allows saving variables to a text document?

I tested my game in SWF form but it won't save the userdata to a text file (named username+".aws"), but it doesn't work.

Is the command still
&nbsp;&nbsp;fscommand("save", "file.ext");

I had the command set as
&nbsp;&nbsp;fscommand("save", "users/"+username+".aws");

It wouldn't work so I tried just
&nbsp;&nbsp;fscommand("save", "users/test.txt");

The flash player was set to save unlimited space on my comp and it still won't work! Did they take out this feature in Flash 6?

Flash 6 Save Command
How do you save variables using the Flash Player 6?

I still use the Flash 5 program, but when I export it the movies run using the Flash 6 player and the old save command doesn't seem to work.

The command in the movie looks like this:

fscommand ("save", "variables.txt");
}

For some reason it doesn't save the variables like it's supposed to. I set the movie preferences to save unlimited space on my computer too, but it doesn't work.

Did the method of saving variables change?

Zoom Command In Flash 5
OK I hav no idea how to do this. I heard it had something to do with y scale x scale but that didn't help! I just want someone to answer this thread which will also answer millions more. I am making a sniping game. I have a custom cursor (crosshair) I want to be able to press two buttons one to zoom and one to zoom out. I ONLY WANT IT TO ZOOM IN AND OUT WITHIN THE CROSSHAIR!Can somebody please post a code or walk me through it. Thanx!
