Notice Board / Message Board / Guest Book
I am trying to create a message board in Flash, one that would pretty much work like a guest book. It would ideally work off a text file, writing and reading to it as people visited the site and left messages.

I don't want to use a database, i know that is the most common answer, i only want to use a text file or something which doesn't require a DB connection.

I have looked around to find something similar in the flash movie files but can;t seem to find anyting close. Maybe i am just looking for something which is known or called something totally different.

Any help or ideas on how to do something like this would be greatly Appreciated.

could someone point me in the right direction for a tut for creating a messageboard in flash, and only flash. i have seen some tuts out there that need php files and other files and its all to confusing. i just want the person to enter there name and a message and in a seperate txt file have it update so its all neat.

[CS3] Flash Pinboard Or Message Board Help
Hello, I am wanting to either source and adjust, or to build a flash pin board application, where website visitors can easily come and click to make a new message (consisting of a few lines of text), and then the post it note, or pin will get left where they clicked on the screen. When hovered over it would show the message the user left.
Thats the basics of it anyhow, further features would be to be able to moderate those messages etc.

Does anyone know of applications or movies out there that can do this? I have searched for hours now on the internet as well as flashkit for examples.
I did find this.

This is very close to what I would like to do.

Capturing Audio For Flash Message Board
I got a question that has made me eat a bottle of asprin.

Flash Forum / Message Board Problem

I'm attempting to create a flash forum for my website, so my forums can have their own message board...I want to do it in flash rather than get a freebie board from one of the freetools for webmasters type websites...so..........................


i downloaded the example flash forum from the www.friendsofed.com website's message board...(i found it by searching their board for posts on this topic)...

i've set up a MySQL database on my webserver...(when i say set-up, i mean I went into my account, and allowed access to a MySQL database)...thats what my webserver's help pages told me to do...

anyway............if you check out the forum...www.breakinankles.co.uk/board.swf
you'll see that i get the error message "Couldn't list threads from database"...(this comes from a query on the viewform.php script)...

i dont know what i have to do for this, and there were no help texts, or readme texts that came with my download...

I'm hoping someone on this board has used this forum previously, as i've seen it on other websites, (or similar styles that have been customised!)...and hoping someone can explain what i have to do...

Flash Message Board - Insert Vs. Append
I have a flash message board that accepts messages and sends the data to a txt file via php. However the data is appended to the end of the file. i would like the new data to be inserted at the beginning of the file without overwriting what already exists. How can i accomplish this? Thank you.

Problems Connecting To Database For Flash Message Board
hi guys, a little help if you please, database work is most definitely NOT my strongpoint. anyhow i'm trying to set up this board on a new site that has to use a database folder outside the main content folders to hold an access database named 'example.mdb' the code states that we're creating a 'dsn-less' connection... but i think i need to create a dsn connection, maybe you can see if there's some obvious problems with the code below? ... i am 2 folders deep in the main directory so i don't think actually getting to the database file is the problem, thanks for the help!

I really want to add a flash message board to my site but I have absofreakinlutely no flippin idea how to do it. I have a site that allows php and I do have cgi access but no clue on how to do it. I've looked at all the free message boards out there and none of them are what i'm looking for. I really want one that's on my fave bands official site but i'm not sure asp extentions will work with it.

I have a question. I would like to add as a feature on my site a Message board as in the one we are using.

A friend of mine wanted me to take a swing at building him a message board. Found tons of tuts on PHP board creation, and got all kinds of excited, only to ftp into his site and grab a log file and see IIS5 across the top... Now I can't seem to find ANY tuts on making one running anything in 2k. The host he's with has 2k and linux options, and I'm pretty close to telling him to switch, but just out of curiosity, any know what I could use to make a good message board in a 2k environment, or where a tut would be?
