Flash :: Flash Movie As Webpage Background

Showing A Flash Movie As Background On An Asp.net Webpage
Hi all! I'm brand new on here, so I'm doing like they say, and saying Hello!

I know there's been a lot written about this, but I've yet to see a code sample. I've been using asp.net 1.1 (vb.net) for over a year, but have not done much with CSS files or Div tags. From what I've read it looks like you need to use these. However, there seems to be a lot of differing opinions on that. I'm brand-spanking new with Flash (though the code looks very C#-ish).

At first I tried using layers and motion guides to create gifs, but after 3 layers the gif animation started slowing down immensely. That was just 3 snowflakes! I can imagine how slow 75 snowflakes would be! That's when I found the snowflake tutorial.

So then I created a snowflake-like Flash Basic 8 movie with the associated swf/fla/gif/html files. Now, I have all these files, but I do not know how to make them/it play as a background on my webpage. I've seen plenty of webpages like this so I know it's possible.

I tried adding the Flash generated html to my webpage code-behind , but then the design view became just all black. Even the generated html page itself creates an all-black display. It seems you need the swf file to see the animation properly. The generated gif file is static, probably because the movie only uses 1 frame. Someone said something about layering the webpage using div tags and the CSS style sheet, but I couldn't get that to work. They also mentioned designing the whole web page in Flash, but I already know and love asp.net, so can't it be done through asp.net?

Question For Webpage Background
Hi.
I have a question and try to describe it simple.
I would like create a background which change its size if the browser windows is resized.
For example:
I choose a 800*600 flash. And then create a line from the right border to the left border. I publish it and i want to have it from the left border to the right border in the browser window even if i change the size of the browser window. But i dont want to scale it.
To see what i mean take a look at http://flash.onego.ru/

It seems that there is a specified size for the flash. Something about 800*600. But if you resize the browser window to a size greater than this the background "grows" to the left and to the right.
Pls tell me how to do this

Webpage Background Question
I am creating a webpage. I've imported a bitmap image for use as the background image and would like extend it 'indefinitely' beyond the stage are so that when I open the html file in a web browser, there is no visible 'white' area. In other words, I don't want a visible border. (please see http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=nym repeated background image as example)

I've looked at tutorials talking about tiling images but I don't think this is what I'm looking for.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Background Color Same As Stage On Webpage
Hello....I am a newbie who is building a website using Flash cs4. I have watched a lot of tutorials and I am learning rather fast. One simple problem I can not figure out is how to change the background color. Lets say my stage size for my site is set to 600 x 700. When I upload my site the whole background of the site is the same color as my stage. How can I correct this?

Centering A Flash Movie In A Webpage
Hello everybody!

I have two questions which are probably very easy but I'm new to Flash so I guess I'm not doing something right.

1. I have made a flash movie and when I publish it I want it to appear in the center (vertical) center (horizontal) of the webpage, how can I do this? I tried the publish settings in Flash MX but the setting "Flash alignment" doesn't seem to center the movie in the middle of the html file!?

2. I was wondering whether anyone knows about Dreamweaver stuff. I just can't find a forum for Dreamweaver help. All I want to know is how I can make my text and images stay where they are when a user re-sizes the browser page to a smaller size. For example, if you resize this page the text above which says: Flash Kit Community Forums > Flash Help > Flash MX gets scrunched up and moves to the next line.

Anyway, I be ever to grateful if you could help me out with my flash problem and if anyone knows about the second.

Flash Movie Transparent Over Webpage.
Is there a way to have a flash movie floating over a webpage thats transparent, like an advertisment sort of thing that you see on yahoo for pepsi and other companys. Just wondering if anyone knows how to do this effect.

Putting Flash Movie In A Webpage...
Hello, I was recently told by someone that they had set up their PHP webpage to include JPEG images and therefore could not use flash animations in their site. Is this true? I'm really new to flash and I haven't tried putting it into webpages myself yet, so any info here would be greatly appreciated.

Image Url From Webpage In Flash Movie
Hi,

I'm sure this is probably a very simple one. but i am rather new to the world of flash.

I would like my little flash movie to display an image but instead of hardcoding it into my flash movie, is it possible to use a parameter from my html ?

I was hoping i could use one of the embed tags to place an image url in my movie.

Is there a way to load another webpage into a flash movie with AS2 or 3 so it displays within the movie? I'd like to do something similar to an html iframe where I have a box that contains another website (a web-accessed application). I'm trying to make a "control panel" flash interface where users can access several different web apps from the same place, and they would open right in the interface--not in a new window. Embed Flash Movie Into Webpage
Could someone please tell me why my .swf (Flash MX file) works when viewed seperately, but not when I embed it into my webpage? When I tested in Dreamweaver MX it worked.

This does not work:

I want it to be the first page they see, the intro and i have no idea how to do this. im making my webpage on geocities just to start out and learn, then i will move onto harder stuff. so any help will be great.

Here's the deal. I have a web page with 2 flash movies embedded. One is a small scrolling box which contains buttons and the other contains text.

How can I code each button to make the text movie switch to the corresponding frame?

Control A Flash (menu) Movie From Webpage
Hi -- I need to control a flash movie from within a webpage -- specifically, I want to send the movie to a particular frame depending on what web page is being viewed. I know this issue has been addressed before, but I am such a new newbie that I cannot grasp how it is done.

The flash movie I am using is a menu that I want to use on every page. Frame one of the movie has menu buttons that, on rollover, change color or "light up." A stop action is on frame one. Frame 10 of the movie also has the menu buttons, except one of them ("about us") is static; that is, in remains in the "lit" state while the other buttons remain active. Frame 11 shows the next menu button in a static state, and on and on, sequentially down the line.

What I want is for the "about us" page to tell the menu movie to go to Frame 10 when a user goes to the "about us" page.

Apparently, I need a Javascript on each webpage that will tell the menu movie (cleverly called menu.swf) which frame it should display. Can anyone help? I know this is real simple, but I'm stumped.

Hey. I'm trying to link a webpage to my flash movie using a button. I created a button and added the following action to it:

on (release) {
getURL ("websiteaddresshere", "_blank");
}

I got this error:Mouse events are permitted only for button instances
on (release) {.

I also tried the following: //Goto Webpage Behavior
getURL("websiteaddress","_self");
//End Behavior

This worked but loaded the page automatically and not when i clicked on the button. Please help! What am I doing wrong!

I've looked arond the forum bt searching for a problem involving the works movie or clip leads to quite a few results!

I have a flash page - entirely flash, and I want to put a move trailer in it which appears on the stage when you click the "trailer" button.

I need to know how to do this so that the trailer appears with user-controls (play/rewind/volume)
I am also having major sync issues so if anyone had any ideas about that...

So basically: You want to put a movie-trailer in your page with user controls, what would you do?!!

Linking Flash Movie To External Webpage
Greetings All

Ive been working on this problem for a while now and haven't found the right solution but I was hoping someone would be able to tell how to link the flash images at www.totalrenovations.com.au/tp/ to an external webpage, using an ActionScript getURL command or even a Javascript onclick event if possible? I am using Flash MX 2004.

Is there a way to convert the entire movie (including all layers) to a button symbol to allow the ActionScript command to work without error?

Any assistance would be muchly appreciated.

I'm using CS3 now. I used to make these Flash movies before but it was almost 5 years ago. Now I'm going back to try again but it seemed harder. Anyway...

Pretty much what I would like to do is have a specific URL show in a flash movie. Thats it, nothing else... The main purpose for this is to show my current ebay auctions.

The page I would like to show is a CGI page just like:

In my flash movie the user must input information in a form.
I would like to post the data on a html website text area form.
For exemple in a flash movie the user must enter his message board login and password info and once the user click login the flash movie open a new web browser window with the login html page with the form already filled with the previous information inputed in the flash movie.....

Flash Movie As Background
Hi,
I have a flash movie which basically has around 10 frames and I am moving between the frames by pressing the down and up arrow keys from the keyboard by adding an action listener.

Now what i want is that when i am moving i always want a flash movie to play in the background.
I tried using netconnection and attachmovie but it only plays at the first frame. How can i have a movie which plays no matter where i go in the frames.

Using A Flash Movie As A Background In Dreamweaver MX

How Can I Add More Than Just One Background Song To My Flash Movie?
I am making a cd-rom yearbook for my school, and I want to be able to have more than just one background song. Every time I try to put more than one song in the file, all of the songs play, so it is all a big garbled mess!!!

White Background In Flash Movie
Hello,

i have a 5kb flash movie and i inserted in an HTML page.
To do this i used dreamwever to insert the .swf file.

I uploaded the files to the server and everything works fine.

However for a few moments, the place where the .swf file is in the HTML file is white instead of black which is the background color of the movie.

It seems the place where the .swf file is, is white until the .swf is loaded. Can somebody explain to me how to avoid this?

Flash Movie With A Transparent Background
Alright I want to make my flash movie have a transparent background. with the wmode transparent param.
Only the way my site coded prevents that (iframes).
Can anyone figure out a way to make in this code "<iframe name="iframe2" src="sidebar.swf" height=400 width=175 FRAMEBORDER=0 allowtransparency="true">" the sidebar.swf have the wmode param and still work right?
The site this code is on is my page Animetia on the index page after you enter.

Playing A Flash Movie On A Background

sorry for the weird topic name.
I have a finished flash movie. But I have a picture of a window; and now I want to have my flash movie played in that window picture.
My flash movie is a little bit bigger than the window; and the window is not rectangular.

Anybody knows how to do that in flash MX? If you understand my question.

Help Importing Flash Movie As A Background
Hi here’s the situation,

I've made my own text effect the hard way in flash.

I have a second flash file and the movie from that file. Some one made it from this site (it’s a real 3d star field)
I want to use it as a background so my animation looks like my text is floating in space.

I tried to cut and paste the frames from one file to the other but no luck when I test movie all I see in the star field minus the text

If one of you gurus could tell me how to do this I would greatly appreciate the help.

Background Loading A Flash Movie
Hi guys,

I have a relatively large flash movie(550k with audio and all). In my fla, there're two scenes which can be broken up into two seperate movies. I can add a preloader to this full length swf, but it's a long preload for DSL users. So I'd like to some how preload the first scene. Then while the first scene is played, the second scene will be loaded in the background.

There's another alternative which is to have two swfs each has it's own preloader, but this still require to downloads instead of one.

Is this possible?
