Hi i would like to know if there would be an "Encrypt ActionScript"-sorta like function in CS4?
If you ask me what i think is so valueable that i should encrypt it i have nothing to say. I dont have anything important to encrypt!

But for instance, a company wants to make a game with accounts and passwords. Wouldnt it be nice to be able to encrypt the ActionScript so that people can't decompile it?

I have to share my thoughts with You people. I am a bit worried about protection of code in flash. Today almost anybody can take a look at your code and copy it so any good or breathtaking new ides you have can be easily copied with ease. I am wondering why is that so easy to do? You cannot copy code from some normal programs that run on your computers with some tools right? Could i lets' say take a look at code of UT 2004 with some program, probably not right? So i am wondering why is that not possible in that case and in flash you have more and more tools to do that? Why didn't MM worked on that in flash 7(can they do somthing in future or is this not possible)? Lot of question i know So any info would be helpful.

p.s.
is there some ways to protect code maybe in just a little way? i put protect from import and enter code in publish settings from what do i protect it then? from importing in flash tool?

I had a quick question. I have a flash website I made for a company I have not gotten any payment for it yet. They asked me to design a site for them and present it to them. They would like to see it on CD-ROM. I would like to protect myself from them taking it and using it for free. Does anyone have any sugeestions on how I can protect the files from being used. I was thinking if there was a way of putting an experation date on the .swf files or the projector files. This way the files don't work after a certain date. Thank you for your help.

I've done a search for an answer to this and not had much look.

I've just finished creating a small off shoot site for my companies salesteam.
It will be used as a landing site for a google ad campaign.

However I'll currently placed this on some webspace of my own to run a few tests. Before launching it for my company.
However it's been two weeks and already I've received 4 spam submission from the form at the end of the flip book.

How can I protect this form from spam and bots???

I saved my Flash files in both exe and swf files. I need to send these to my customers but I don't want them to see the source files. What is the best way to protect its actionscript and not allowing anybody to re-convert it to FLA files again?

Is it by doing the following?
- Files/Publish Settings/
- check 'Protect from Import'.
- enter password.
- click Publish.

Are there any softwares doing the protection I need? Any recommendations, please? Thanks in advanced.

Does anyone know if there is a way to build a .swf (not .exe) with a built in time limit e.g. expired after 30 days.

I am not looking for a flash/actionscript solution but a 3rd party encoder that encodes it into the .swf itself.

Flash MP3 Player Needed W/Protection
I'm a composer, and I want to put audio of my compositions online, but I want there to be no possible way for someone to get the audio file on their computer. I don't want anyone to be able to reverse engineer the flash applet in anyway or extract any audio file from it. I also don't want a logo on the player.

Anyone know of any pre-built versions of what I am looking for out there? Also, I don't want any logo of the author of it visible on the applet. Any & All help is greatly appreciated!!

Various Flash Issues Stemming From Hotlink Protection
Okay, I have two questions:

I am using this flash mp3 player to embed in my page. However, I also have hotlink protection through my web host for my mp3's, meaning that any direct referrals for an mp3 file on my domain from outside of my domain will result in a 404 error. My problem is that with an embedded swf, I need the codebase from macromedia.com, so my own domain is not actually requesting my mp3 file, and now I have to deal with the whole hotlink protection issue. So, basically I am wondering if there is a workaround for the codebase problem.

If someone could lead me to an mp3-type flash player that is relatively simple to setup, that works with audio-only swf's instead of straight mp3 files, I would be forever grateful.

Flash Password Protection: Easily Bypassed> Solution?
When you create a password promt in flash, it really doesn't do anything. Right click on the flash movie, and choose "Play" and you are through the system. Is there some way to disable the "play" feature? I'm REALLY bad at scripting.. I currently just have the slide transition speed at 120/min. It works enough for what I'm currently using it for, but there MUST be another way.

I hope this hasn't been brought up yet, this is my first time back to Kirupa.com in a year! If so (^) please leave a link to the thread.

I am trying to use Flash to make a form that person enters a username and password and it sends the person to a predefined page. This is pretty simple. The thing is that it is not secure whatsoever. I know that you could password protect a flash movie, but one does not have to download the ".swf" file and import it to be able to break into the usernames and passwords. Also, I have seen sites that use everything from a ".txt" to a ".dat" to a ".js" file to hide and encode their usernames and passwords, but those do not work either. I have tried to name the variables for the "username" and "password" by names that are random so that no one would guess them, but people could still break into the list of usernames and passwords. I have had experience with people opening up the ".swf" file with a hex editor (I'm not going to go into how people break into a ".swf" since I do not want to instigate a rash of hacking) and just extracting the usernames and passwords. I am wondering if anyone has any secure method to keep my list of usernames and passwords hidden from everyone.

i came across a copy of the ******* decompiler for swfs and i have to say i'm shocked !

Isn't there any way to protect my work ?
I have no problem with exchanging my knowledge about flash for example on this board or if someone asks me about how i did something, but I'm pissed to see, that it is actually possible to rip the artwork that i did, or the sounds that i created.

Also sometimes I embed passwords for my clients into my swfs, when i want them to be able to change a text file for example, because i figured it would be fairly safe, but now i see it's not !

Maybe macromedia should be on the case for that...

I'm really annoyed !

i have a swf that stop in the frame 5 with the stop()..i want to protect the next frames...it is ok

But, when i click in the right botton of the mouse over the swf..i open the controler flash window(settings,forward,rewind, play..etc), i click the forward option and the swf goes to the frame 6,7,8...so i can not protect my swf!

1- how can i desactivate the controler flash window?
2 - is there another way to protect my swf?

im not sure if this question should go in this section or not but stay with me. is there any way possible to protect a flash game from players cheating by right clicking and going to forward. ive seen on some games it just has a thing that says about flash player 8 it doesnt allow you to go foward. how do u do this?

What can I do to protect my swf files from being decompiled by unathourised persons(fu**** up code thiefs). I heard that the .exe file can't be decompiled...(or at least that it is very difficult to decompile them), and I see that flash has a few protection option(the password), are those options gonna descourage a thief?
What advices can you give me and not only to me, because I think that we all are interested in how to protect our work.

I'm trying to make some low level password protection for a site and I mean "Low Level". What I would like to do is create an entry box that the visitor would enter a password into. When they click "ENTER" the script will check to see if the word they entered matches. If it does then the main index site page will open, replacing the current window.

I've been told that I could do this with HTML and a CGI but I don't have access to that. I figured Flash has the capability and then I don't have to worry about a CGI.

I know some basic action scripting but nothing to elaborate. Be gentle.

does anyone know how to make a password protected area on a site? what's to stop someone from just typing the URL and getting past the password page.?, i have a password page, it's 3 frames. frame one is prompting the user to enter the password. frame 3 is where he goes if he types in a wrong password. frame 2 is the page where s/he goes if they type in the right one. from there, they can click a button to get in. what's to stop the viewer from doing a "forward one step" (when you right click on a flash movie, this option is there). is there a way to make it totally secure?

Please will someone help me!!!! I downloaded a flash file that offers password protection. It has user name and password. It said I could create up to 10,000 users. I can't get in contact with the guy who created it and I am VERY new to Flash. How do I create the names and passwords. Also, it says it allows access to a .html file. How do I direct it to the file I want? Also, what prevents someone from just typing in the URL of the target site, and thus bypassing the password prompt? Sorry to lay a lot on ya'll but I am dying and I am on a deadline which was supposed to be today...

How secure is flash if you check off "protect from import" in Publish Settings? Aren't there programs that can still import your file?

Is there a better (more secure) way of doing password protection? For example say I had a page where a user could eneter a user name and password to get to a certain section of my site. What if I made the user name and password into variables and then passed them to an ASP page or something similar(I lack knowledge in this department) and then that page processed the username and password? Is it possible to pass variables out of a swf file?

I have always recieved great answers here, and I am thankful. I hope I am not straying too far off the subject on this one...
Well, On a site there will be a section in which a writing can be forwarded to your friend's email accounts if you like the writing. However, in the past, there have been problems with a few people taking the writings and putting their own names on them and selling them (yes, Im not kidding) even though they are copywrited. We want to prevent this. So I thought maybe an email with flash embeded in it would be forwarded, in which they have to accept the terms of not copying, before they can go to the next screen that the writing is on. There are a billion differnet ways to look at this situation, and I would really appreciate it if you could assist, and if you need help with anything in return let me know. (I thought about making a soundfile instead of a writing, but that couldnt be forwarded easily, and it can still be stolen.)

but here's another thing I'm wondering... I was reading this tutorial:

that way I can use it as a keygen and applie it to a CD-Protection passkey type interface I'm developing...
I'm not exactly good with strings in flash... I'm just... intermediate and kinda expert I guess...
I can exactly write hard and bare actionscript code from the top of my head though and make it do what I want it to do... like make a scrolling menu or something.... but that's besides the point...
any of you know how to convert this formula in this tutorial to a password input? so I can use it as a keygen for CD-Protection? (it wont be just the projector trust me... there'll be lots of protection around it)
