In a recent project ive discovered a bug between Flash and Safari.

i have a movie with a login and password input text fields.

If you have more than 1 Safari window open, one or more of the text fields becomes unusable.

any one come across this problem? or have a workaround for it?

ive found a few reports on the net of people experiencing the same thing

Flash In Safari
i have a flash movie 400x400 pixels with an onClipEvent that triggers based on mouse position. works fine on all browsers except safari. when the movie loads and the mouse is anywhere on the stage (not on the movie) the movie reacts. it's not supposed to until the mouse is actually over the movieClip. why does this happen?

Flash And Safari
Hello.

Why current websitte begins with a basic home page, www.cjzdesign.com.

When you click to enter the site, a new window pops up and a flash site begins to load. The flash content fills this new window from edge to edge.

When the site is accessed via the MAC's Safari, there are white borders to the left and right of the Flash content.

Is there any way to stop these borders from appearing in Safari?

Hi, could someone tell me why my flash components will not work in Safari, I have them working in both IE and Mozilla Firefox but the components will not show up in Safari.

Flash And FF, NN And Safari
Im have a simple mask reveal effect with a dynamic loaded image, on all these mentioned browsers and when I test it, the mask appears Green and does the regular animation but nothing is shown, I refresh the site and it works, this problem doesn't appear in IE.

Any Ideas?

Question About Flash 7 And Safari
Hello everyone. I hope someone can answer this for me because it is driving me nuts!

I have noticed lately that Mac and Safari are having issues displaying Flash. For instance, recently I updated this site:

I did not change the Flash header or any Flash components. I just made use of Iframes to center te content.

Now for no reason, Safari and IE for the Mac is having issues displaying the header. But it will display the lower slideshow. I am not having any of these issues with PC's just our Macs. Could anyone reading this on a Mac review the link and let me know if you can see the navigation? And if not, is there any known bugs involving Flash 7 and Mac or Safari.

Please everyone do not send hate replies because I am saying I have an issue with a Mac, I use both systems

Flash On Safari 2.0+ Compatibility
I have this problem on my swf when viewed on mac's safari 2.01. It seems almost all of the elements of my flash movie are disorganized. Does anyone know what's the cause of this? Are there any methods for flash movies to be totally error-free on mac browsers?

Safari - It Doesn't Seem To Like Flash
Right this is fast turning into the worst day of my flash based life.

Won't play in Safari - have tested it in modzilla on Mac, Internet (Hate) Explorer on PC, it works fine.

What am I doing wrong, here is a test file, it does the same thing as my movie (it's a little large so I'm only posting it if i get desperate).

The problem apears when externally loaded files (movies into movies, txt files into dynamic text boxes) don't load in.

Some body I know who works with flash said it might be to do with naming structures. But I've stuck to simple names - no dashes or spaces etc.

I just don't know, surfice to say I'm at my wits end.

Any help greatly appricated.

Flash Safari Issue
If i am opening any popup in my application and then i logout from parent window or main screen, then if i again go to login screen there i am not been able enter username or password and my login screen is made in flash.

This case works fine in IE but this is not working in safari.

If i close safri and then try to login then its working.

Flash And Safari Issue
I've created a flash file which starts with 3 large buttons which take you to a different frame label on the main timeline. Each label contains a movie which contains various images and text.

The buttons work perfectly fine in IE7, however in firefox (pc) and on safari the third button decides to take me to the wrong section in the timeline. BUT this only happens when you click on the upper edge of the button.

Clicking anywhere else on the button is fine, it's just the top edge.

I've checked the FLA file and there's nothing odd going on as it works fine when the .SWF is run on my pc.

Any ideas why this would happen?

Safari And XML Driven Flash?
I'm using a Flash mp3 player that is loading the Flash real slow in Safari on a Mac. Not sure why this is but didn't know if anyone else has run into this problem before? Not sure if the problem lies in the ActionScript or the XML file or if Safari just loads slow for whatever reason. This is real frustrating to say the least because it work on all browsers on a PC. Flash Player 9 In Safari
I'v built a site using CSS incorporating multiple SWF files per page. Only on Safari, do I get a spastic cursor display when the cursor is over the movie area. The cursor flickers between the hand, pointer, and text selection tool. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why it is doing this. Sometimes it happens when hovering over a link, sometimes over text, sometimes over everything, and sometimes not at all.

Has anyone had any experience with this problem? Do you know what the solution might be?

Flash Disappears In Safari
For some reason, when I edit my website in FrontPage and save the changes, the swf file that is the menu disappears when viewed in Safari but not Internet Explorer. There is no problem when I first ftp the pages...it's only AFTER I (or a client) edits the page in FrontPage.

This is the only website of mine that has this problem. I can edit others all day long and not have any disappearing acts. The site page that is a problem is: http://www.ffel.net/quote.html. A page on that same site that has NOT been edited is http://www.ffel.net/ffel.html.

I hate FrontPage but the client insists on being able to edit the site form himself. Any Smarties out there who are more advanced than me?!

Safari, Layers, And Flash (k)
This has been a bug for a long time. When you put a SWF on a page and
have an HTML layer go over it in Safari(mac), the flash appears ABOVE
the layer that is on top of it. Only in Safari, not Firefox.

Is there a workaround?

Flash Links In Safari
I have a problem with Safari and SWFs. In Safari, if the user ctrl-clicks or cmd-clicks a link it opens the link in a new tab in the browser. This does not seem to work for SWFs that contain links. It works fine in IE7 and Firefox.

Is there a work around that I am not finding?

Safari + Flash + SQL + Reload = 0
On this site: clearviewgalleries.com the site works fine until you hit "reload". Then it loses the database connection and you get no images or text (activity shows a call to an undefined image). I've tried reloading the PHP/XML file and that works... It's just the Flash. It won't work again until you empty the Webfoundation cache (same as emptying the cache and restarting Safari). I have another site, radioitalyusa.com that uses almost the same scripts and HTML but doesn't fail. The only differences are the Flash itself and that the Clearview site uses an external SQL server while the Radio Italy one uses the same box (or at least the external call is done outside SQL). They are on different hosts - iPower for ClearView and Yahoo for Radio Italy. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've dug through all the code and Googled the problem, and I can't find anything that would cause this.

Flash Video On IE, Safari, Etc...
I've worked with Flash/Dreamweaver for a while now, but I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong now...

I had flash videos playing on my site before, but I completely changed the look of the website... and added new .flv files. When I test it on my computer, it works. But when it goes live, it doesn't. The paths seem to be correct... but it's frustrating that I can't figure out why the videos don't even show... It's got to be something simple...

Flash Site Will Not Run With Safari On A Mac
A friend has helped me to develop a simple web site in Flash which I use to manage my photo galleries, which are created with Lightroom or Photoshop. I am familiar with most of Adobe CS3 except Flash or Dreamweaver, but I can get by with just editing text and uploading new galleries, so the site works really well for me.

Unfortunately I have received feedback from people using Safari or Camini browsers and the Mac OS that the site will not open. They just see black and the message "Get Flash". The site works great on a PC using both I Explorer and Safari.

I have no knowledge of how to overcome this problem and not having access to a Mac, no way to "fiidle about" and experiment. I would very much appreciate some advice from anyone in the know. The web site is at www.duncangrove.com . Please have a look at my pics if you check it out!

Resizing Flash In Safari
Hi,

I deal with a lot of dynamic data at my company, so we generally fill up the flash and then resize the rest of the movieclip to what we need using javascript. I use swfobject to embed my flash files. Anyhow, this was never a problem until I started supporting safari, and there's very little on the web regarding it. I've found this little tidbit of information regarding safari http://www.beyondstandards.com/archives/dynamically-resizing-flash-objects-with-js/ - but haven't gotten much farther. The author states that you need to resize both the object that contains the embed and the actual embed object as well. However, I'm having a tough time finding that information using the swfobject to embed the swf. Does anyone know the safari DOM well enough or had experience resizing flash objects in safari? Any help at all would be appreciated.

the site works perfect in flash 8, on browsers on pc and in firefox on my mac.

however in safari the whole site acts weird. for example there are images and variables that do not load.

Flash Plugin Safari
I have a flash that it is not dynamic , it is a simple 4 images with 4 text slide show.

These animation need to be play random.So I use the random functions and the gotoAndPlay(number of frame).

so the actionscript is like this on the first frame

stop;
random functions
if var=1 ....
gotoAndPlay(number of frame)

The flash in Safari/MAC is not working, remain on the first frame.

If I remove the stop is working but this creates a problem in Firefox, because will start playing an not executing the random function.

In Internet Explorer everything is OK with stop; or without stop;

Who can I resolve the problem in Safari ?

Flash Player 8 And Safari
I've got a web app using FP8 and AMFPHP. When I browse my site with windows or even mac firefox, i get a perfect peformance out of it. However, on safari i'm getting errors in the activity window. Specifically, images are getting the comment "plug-in cancelled". Why are these errors occuring and why would the player be cancelling them?

Flash 8 Contra Mac And Safari..
I just realized that i have problems in showing my flash movie made by flash 8 in specially Safari on a mac. Probaly also on other browsers..

Does anyone know how to handle this or do i have to remove all flash 8 features like blur and so on and publish my movies into flash 7 to make them work. I just did this, and im a litle sorry about this. :cry:

Safari & Flash Little Problem
I'm trying to fix the code another guy wrote to solve the particular problem with Safari (the code works fine for IE,Netscape and Opera) on MAC. Since I'm totally new to flash, I need help.
The website is mixed flash and html.
What's happenning is that when clicking on the flash link (not html link) on Safari browser, the HTTP GET attributes are being appended to the current get attributes (so that even the some get variable are shown twice or more times with different values), and that of course messes up everything.
As I said, it's Safari specific problem

Flash Display: Mozilla/Safari Vs IE?
I always loved flash because of its cross-browser compatibility, but I just started working on an "enter" page for my site and noticed that it displays drastically different among browsers.

In Mozilla and Safari, the grey circle and outer ridges are lost, but everything displays fine in IE. Any thoughts on why this could be happening?

Firefox & Safari Don't Play My Flash
The title of this post says it all. I have a flash embedded in an html that will play on IE but on firefox & safari there is a white square in its place and it takes minutes to load...not a very large file either, less than half a MB.

Flash Safari Button Problem
I designed a basic flash site for a friend. It works fine in Firefox and Internet Explorer. But on Safari, the buttons get all messed up. (When you go to another page, the buttons from the home page pop up if you rollover them:::Go to any page but the home, and roll your mouse around)

Flash Movie Dissappears On Mac Safari And IE
I have a pretty complex Flash movie that runs fine except for on Mac IE and Safari. The movie starts to play and plays fine until it just dissappears. The background is the correct color but the movie is gone. Any ideas of what this may be?

Flash Being Replaced By Background In Safari On Mac
I have developed a flash banner for this site http://www.derby.ac.uk (top) which imports swfs based upon an xml file.

You can cycle through swfs perfectly on FF, IE6, IE7 on XP and Vista, but when you use Safari on Mac the flash dissapears when you roll your mouse over it, and is replaced by the background image underneath.

This might not be a specific Flash problem, but more of how I am embedding the flash.

I have tested on Panther, Tiger and Leopard, and the problems are similar (although Leopard automatically shows the beckground image over the flash, whereas Panther and Tiger only do this when you move your mouse over the flash).

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!!

Just One Out Of Several Flash Files Fails In IE7 & Safari
I'm using several flash buttons for my navigation. I used modxcms to control the content, and then pass the link_text and link_url to the flash buttons using flash vars.

Modxcms has a navigation builder that I have templated to embed my flash navigation buttons using swfobject. I also have one custom button at the top that goes up one level depending on where you are in the site. This one is generated by my own function, but uses that same swfobject embed method.

Everything works perfectly in Firefox; but IE7 and safari fails to load the flash backButton (top of nav on left). Instead I'm left with the html content that is normally replaced by swfobject.

I'm losing my mind over this. I have rewritten everything several times and can't figure out why it won't show up in safari or ie7.

THE PROBLEM:
I've noticed that when I was testing this site I'm designing that the input fields aren't always readily input-able (if that's a word), even after I close the browser, empty the cache, and re-open the site. Maybe 20% of the time Safari will allow me to input data into the fields. If I use IE, it works, no problem. I even tested the SWFs by calling them directly (I thought it might be an HTML interaction problem), but it does the same thing there as well.

Just wondering if anyone had any insight into this phenomenon?
