Flash Video Encoder Problem?
I just downloaded the Trial Version of Flash 8 and Flash Video Encoder off Adobe.com. I am trying to test out the Video encoder. I can add a movie into the video list no problem but when I hit "Start Queue" or Settings the Flash Video Encoder just closes? I tried adding a couple different types of video and it always just closes?
Anyone else have this problem?

Flash Video Encoder - Sizing Video
Hello
I have an uncompressed video at 720x486. I need to encode it to Flash video at 640x480. When I import it into Flash Video Encoder, I use the custom settings to output a 640x480 movie at 30fps and 550kbps using the VP6 codec.
Flash video outputs a 720x486 movie.
What am I doing wrong?

Speed Up Video Using Flash Video Encoder
Hi,
I'm converting a quicktime movie into an flv file and am also trying to increase it's speed. I've tried playing about with the frame rates option but it dosn't change anything. Is it possible to do this in the video encoder?
Any rays of light thrown on this subject will be greatly soaked up!

Flv Video Created With Flash 8 Video Encoder
anyone know why flv files that I've created using the flash 8 video encoder don't seem to have any metadata in them? or maybe they do but they never kick off the NetStream.onMetadata event so I can't read it...
Similarly if I use the 'import video' function of Flash Pro 8 I get the same issue - yet FLV video created using Sorenson Squeeze works fine, so I'm fairly confident that my code is OK.
Even more bizarrely, if I use the FLVPlayback component that ships with Flash 8, that seems to read in the metadata OK!
argh!
Just to confuse things even more, the flash help for NetStream.onMetadata says: "The Flash Video Exporter utility (version
1.1 or greater) embeds a video's duration [...] into the video file itself."
As far as I can tell I've got version 1.0 of the flash video encoder/exporter but I'm damned if I can find out where to get an update from...! Ever since CS3 came out it's been harder and harder to get hold of stuff about flash 8 on the Adobe site...

Flash 8 Video Encoder
Hello,
I'm trying to convert a .avi XviD file to .flv format using the new Flash 8 Video Encoder.
Everything seems to work fine. I load the file into the encoder, wait a few moments, and it gives me the green tick (indicated a successful conversion).
Now the problem is that whenever I try to play the outputted .flv file nothing comes up. I've tried numerous methods but I get nothing, just a blank screen.
For example I downloaded FLVPlayer and tried to play it in that. The timer bar goes across but the screen above is blank.
Has anyone had any experience with this please? I would really like to get this working as I've heard good things about the integrated On2 codec.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Flash Video Encoder
What I'm trying to do is simple enough - I have a custom setting that I like (bitrate, cropping, size etc.) - now I want to apply it to several different source videos.. How do I do that? I thought I could just duplicate the original setting and select a new source file - can't figure out how to do that? Nor can I figure out how to save a custom setting and apply it to new source files. I'm feeling really stupid here -- help me out!

Flash 8 Video Encoder
I have an After Effects animation I would like to use as a banner animation on a web page. When I export out of AE as a Flash SWF file, it works on my web page (loops fine and dispays without an onion skin):

However the file size is still large at 2.5MB. When I bring the same file rendered as a Quicktime into Flash 8 Video encoder and render from there, the resulting file size is small -- 561 KB -- but will not loop and has a skin controller (that I don't want).
Any suggestions how I can achieve a small file size, but also not have a skin and have the file loop?

Flash Video Encoder
I use Flash Video Encoder. This is not the same thing as Flash Media Encoder. It allows me to batch convert my mpeg movies into flv files without having muck about with my media server.
I first came across it inside my Creative Suite 3 Web Premium pack as a flash extension/plugin.
There's NOTHING about it on the adobe site apart from some mention of it in Livedocs.
I'd really like to be able to put this tool on a big fat server in our datacentre, which has heaps of disk bandwidth and heaps of memory and is perfect for this kind of thing. Not something you put the whole adobe suite on. Not something you put flash cs3 on.
Will adobe sell me a single pc licence for only Flash Video Encoder that will run on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition? I don't really need to be able to do remote driven batching at this time.
Failing that, does Adobe have a product that will convert mpg/mov/avi/xvid/whatever into flv in a batch (command line is fine) scenario on a windows server?

Flash 8 Video Encoder?
I'm learning how to queue in Flash 8's stand alone video encoder. I did the cue points and then did the Start Queue option. However, at the end I get lost. Aren't I supposed to save the queue? When I try it does nothing. Is that because I am supposed to choose an output file name first? I tried that but it still didn't do anything.
EDIT: Oh, after trying it several times I see that the video queue has an output path to where it automatically saves it as an FLV. Okay, so I found the answer.

Flash Video Encoder
Greetings - I don't know anything about flash so pardon my ignorance.
I've got a video that I want on a page. I've got Flash Video Encoder 8 that I used to encode the video to Flash format.
From this point I got a *.flv file.
I imported into Flash 8 and went through the little wizzard that put a media control bar on it for me.
I am thinking that i can't embed a *.flv so I export from flash 8 to *.swf. From this point I embedded into my page and the video looks / runs great but I've got no media controller.
On my flash 8 frame it shows the control bar but once I export to *.swf it's gone
Thanks

Problem In Flash CS3 Video Encoder
Hi,
I am experiencing a bug in the Flash CS3 Video encoder. I have saved an XML file with settings that I will be using for numerous video. I have basically set the Data Rate, Frame Rate, Key Frame Interval, Audio and Video Size. The frame rate is set to 14.98.
When I load the profile that I have saved, the frame rate stays at 14.98, but if i hit ok, and then click on the settings again to modify them, the frame rate goes to 'same as source' and does not stay at 14.98. If I change the frame rate to 14.98 at this point, it sticks. My question is, why does it go to 'same as source', and it concerns me, that if I do not manually go in and change the settings back to 14.98, is it encoding the video at its current frame rate.
Here is the XML file I use for encoding:
Attach Code
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?>
<FLVCoreSettings Version="1">
<Version>2</Version>
<EncodeVideo>
<VideoCodec>vp6</VideoCodec>
<VideoDataRate>300000</VideoDataRate>
<KeyFrameRate>30</KeyFrameRate>
<Resize>
<Width>320</Width>
<Height>240</Height>
<RespectAspectRatio>false</RespectAspectRatio>
</Resize>
<Deinterlace>false</Deinterlace>
</EncodeVideo>
<EncodeAudio>
<AudioCodec>mp3</AudioCodec>

Flash Video Encoder Vs. AddASCuePoint()
I am making a video with flash video encoder where I embed cuepoint (Event). While reading it in flash there is no problem.when time=2.400 the event actualizes exactly at 2.400.
But when i embed cruepoint in ationscript addASCuePoint() the event is actualizing at 2.440 or 2.320 for the example time=2.400. I made the control with the code written bellow.
ActionScript Code:
var listenerObject:Object = new Object();
listenerObject.cuePoint = function(eventObject:Object) {
trace(my_flvPb.playheadTime);
trace(eventObject.info.time);
};
my_flvPb.addEventListener("cuePoint", listenerObject);
What is the reason for this difference? What is the difference between the cuepoint embed in a flash video encoder and embed in actionscript?

No Video After Flash 8 Video Encoder
I have read some other posts and although they are similar, none of the solutions posted helps me fix my specific issue.
Using Flash 8 on Windows XP Pro SP2, I have a MPEG-2 file. I can play the MPEG file using Windows Media Player 11 and RealPlayer 11 but I cannot play it using QuickTime 7.2. When I load the MPEG file into Flash 8 Video Encoder (to convert it to a FLV file), it doesn't seem to recognize that there is a video portion. It recognizes there is an audio portion. By this I mean:
1. In Flash 8, click on File > Import > Import video...
2. Browsed to the MPEG file and clicked Next
3. Selected Progressive download... and clicked Next
4. In the Encoding screen, the video portion (top right hand corner) is just blank.
In the MPEG files that work, I see the first frame of the video. So, Flash 8 Video Encoder does not recognize there is a video portion. Also, in Advanced Settings, in the Encodign tab, the Encode Video checkbox is grayed out and not selectable. Only the Encode Audio is checkable.
In writing this, I think the problem is my MPEG file. So I'll continue to search the net for solutions to this. I just hope someone has run into this issue in this forum and provide some guidance.
Thanks.

Flash 8 Video Encoder : Is There A Log File Of Some Sort?
I'm encoding a lot of videos using the Flash 8 Video Encoder and I was wondering if the queue informations stored anywhere. If you remove the items from the queue, you lose all ability to change your cue points and need to start over.
In addition, is there another way of adding cue points? The method of dragging your sliders to an exact time code is rather tedious. If there is no other way, I hope that the guys at Macromedia will address these issues.

Flash 8 Video Encoder Multiple Instances
Is there any way I can set up to run multiple instances of Flash 8 Video Encoder to take advantage of a multi core resource? I have a dual CPU dual Opteron box (ie, 4 cores available) and find it disappointing to see such slow renders and all that CPU going to waste.
On the other hand, does anyone know of a really good, fast, multi-threaded ON2 VP6 solution? I also use Autodesk Cleaner which is still dependent on the Flash 8 encoder (and therefor on Quicktime) and doesn't do any better, and is also very unstable around Quicktime.

Flash Video Encoder Stops Encoding
Hello,
I've been using a lot of FVE lately. It was working perfectly since this morning, and I can't figure out what the problem is.
I use uncompressed AVI files and then convert them to flv, 700 Kb, On2 VP6 files (no audio). For some reason, the encoding porocess stops after a while, more or less always at the same frame. The thing is, the log from FVE doesn't report this error and FVE seems to consider everything went fine. When I open the resulting flv, it appears to be normally long, but the playback stops at the same moment the encoding did.
Has anyone a clue ? I would surely appreciate it...
Thanks in advance

Problem With Audio In Flash Video Encoder
I'm trying to use Flash Video Encoder to encode AVI clips in FLV format. Video works fine, but audio comes out completely distorted, nothing but static. I've tried various compression settings with no success, and also various other methods of converting to flv - exporting from After Effects, exporting from Quicktime Player Pro, with the same results. The only workaround I've found so far is to embed the flv in the swf file, rather than hosting it externally - but as this can cause serious sync problems with audio and video this is obviously not an ideal situation. I'm using a PC, windows XP SP2, Flash CS3, QuickTime 7.2. Video clips are NTSC DV - I've tried both 44.1 and 48 kHz sample rates for the audio, 16-bit, both mono and stereo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried just to convert the sound, it finish quickly (around 1s) and produce a 32k file...
I precise that it act like this either in 48000hz or 44100 !
I tried other formats such as WAV PCM (ARAW) for the sound, it worked.
I tried to purge the Quicktime components, and reinstall new ones, still the issue.
Does anyone as an idea, or had the same issue ?
It's kind irritating, not working from day to tomorrow !!!

Macromedia's printed documentation for the Flash 8 Video Encoder states a maximum keyframe interval of 100 which presumably is in frames. However, for a 30fps video, this is a little over 3 seconds. Other tutorials, one which is listed on their site, recommends up to an 8 second interval.
Is the 100 keyframe interval a typo or am I missing something?

Blank Screen In Flash 8 Video Encoder With DivX
When using the Flash 8 video encoder to encode a DivX file, I get a blank screen. No problem with the wmv files I've tried. this is on two freshly purchased HP Windows Media Center XP PCs. Have not had the same issue with our older Dell PCs, also XP(Pro not Media Center). I have re-installed Flash 8 and the Divx codecs but still have the issue.
Any ideas?

Flash Video Encoder Conflict With Safari For Windows
I installed Safari for Windows (AMD/Windows XP) without the options (no Bonjour) and found that it disabled Adobe Flash Video Encoder (tries to reinstall, can't find msi, can't reinstall from disk, 1 keeps asking for disk 1). Uninstalled Quicktime, didn't help. Uninstalled Safari, rebooted, still can't get Flash Encoder working.

Flash Video Encoder Just Dies With No Error Message
I just downloaded the Flash CS3 trial version and I'm trying to encode a video with the video encoder and it simply won't work. I can launch the video encoder just fine and select a video for encoding, but the minute I click 'settings' or 'start queue', the application just disappears. The process is halted and there is no error message or anything. Nothing.
The application is prompting me for a validation code but I don't have one yet. I have ordered the software through a friend who works at adobe and I'm waiting for delivery of the DVD set. Is this feature disabled in the trial version or something? I have seen *absolutely nothing* that would suggest it is.
I'm really worried I'm going to received CS3 and the video encoder won't work.

Stream Live Video From Client Other Than Flash Media Encoder
Hello,
I've testedmy Flash Media Encoder / Flash Media Server and it works great. But Flash media encoder need to have a video and audio device attached to the system in order to encode the file to appropriate format.
I would like to know if there is a possibility (and if thre is then how) to use a network stream (MMS, HTTP, RTP) as a source rather that a vide device. Maybe there is some other software that can encode a net media stream and feed it to Media Server?
My source streams (in current situation) are either Windows Streaming Server or Windows Media Encoder.
How can I manage to bridge there two servers in order to deliver Flash Media Content to my website?
Thank you.

Server Side Flash Video Encoder Sdk Or Command Line
Hi Everyone,
I want a server side flash video encoder sdk or command line tool which should encode wmv,avi,... files to flash video(on2vp6,h.264 codecs supported). In addition, I want to embed Navigation cuepoints in the video. I have been looking for it for more than a week and found only the on2's flix engine which is very expensive. Can anyone suggest me the correct solution, please?
thanks

Video Encoder Can't Read MPEG-2 Video Track
I've recorded some MPEG-2 videos from a new Sony camcorder, and I can't turn them into FLV files using Flash CS3 Video Encoder. Each time I open the settings window, it says "This file has no readable video track."
However, the mpeg's play fine on ALL my media players (Real, Windows Media Player, etc.).
I've found a workaround -- I have to use some freeware to convert the MPEG-2 files into MPEG-4 files, and then the encoder can read them. But I'm still mystified as to why the Adobe encoder won't read the MPEG-2's.
Any ideas?

Adobe Flash CS3 Vid Encoder Not The Best Encoder? Flix?
I had the disturbing experience yesterday of having to ask my client to encode their own flv for me to use. They had given me a QT file, which for whatever reason, had a glitch in it that prevented it from properly encoding on my stock CS3 video encoder software. They don't have Flash, and are on a PC (I'm mac). They encoded it using their Flix encoder, and talked about the newest version ("S" or something like that). Case in point, their flv worked and mine didn't. (Mine was playing fine, but something in the metadata was getting goofed and not throwing an end-of-file status flag for me to capture. So, I couldn't get the program to automatically close the video and move on.) I checked for an update to my CS3 encoder, which simply took me to the basic "Adobe software update" software, which suggested a few other updates that I'm assuming are irrelevant to Flash. (Reader, Version Cue, Bridge, StartMeeting, After Effects).
So, my lengthy intro leads me to the question, "Is my stock CS3 flv encoder not the best thing for encoding (On2).?"
Is there an update or better solution I'm not aware of?
Thanks,
Greg

F8 Video Encoder - All Video Stops After 2 Sec.
Each time I convert a video from whatever format to FLV the video gets created but when I go to play the video it always plays for about 2 seconds and stops. The play button won't start the movie again, the only way for the movie to continue is to drag the progress arrow a few stops, then the video will finish playing. This happens with every video I convert, I don't get it.
Thanks.

Video Encoder Help
Hello, I'm trying to encode a perfectly good MPEG file but in the Advanced Settings in the Flash Encoder my Video options are grayed out. It is encoding the audio track. What would be causing this? The movie I'm trying to encode plays fine in the windows media player. My encoder seems okay because when I Add a .avi file the Video encoding options are fine.
Please help.
