Html And Flash Page Background
I would love to know how the guys who did www.south.uk.net made the dropshadow on either side of the body.

I can see the use of www.south.uk.net/sides3.swf for the background, but where does the dropshadow come into it?

Any experts out there at pulling apart sites - I would love your help.

Thanks.

Is it possible to set a SWF file as the background of an HTML page (or table)? We want to have a moving background on the page using Flash, but we want to be able to put HTML text / graphics / etc over the background. Is this possible? If so, how? I use Dreamweaver. Thanks!

Flash As HTML Page Background
I have seen a few site in the past using a swf as the sites background while the remainder of the site is HTML or PHP.

The last site I saw doing this was a section of bbc.co.uk but htey have since removed that section other wise I would of looked at their code to see how it was done.

So my question is how would I do this? I am guessing Javascript but does anyone have an example?

Flash Movie As A Background In An HTML Page
Abit new to flash.
I have made a swf that I want to play in the background of an HTML page while other HTML elements are on top, image buttons, etc. (I cant make the other elements flash due to some other issues in the enviroment I am designing this for at this time.) But it seems no matter what I do, the flash movie cant have anything on top of it. I have tried as a seperate frame in the background and as an embedded object at a lower layer number.

Is it even possible, and if so any hints or help to get that to work?

Thanks for any suggestions, much appreciated.

Background Image In Flash Or HTML
Hi there!

I've got a Flash movie with a photo background for added effect, the problem is, this is bumping my movie up to 118 K, its 72K without the background.

I've tried putting the background in HTML, but it won't scale to fit the screen. I've also tried using layers with a 100% sized image, but this screws up if the browser is resized.

Should I put my background in Flash or HTML? Which will be faster at downloading?

[CS3] How Do I Change The HTML Background Image From Flash?
Hi,

I'm new to the whole forum thing, but i'm running out of ideas of how to resolve this issue.

I've created a transparent flash movie, for a new portfolio website. I've dropped it into an html page with a full bg image (2000x1500) but i want to change the html bg image each time i click on a new area of the flash movie.

Can this be done? I know it requires javascript and actionscript, but as a designer i am having a real hard time trying to find any solutions or understanding any code thats out there.

Please help if you can...

Changing An HTML Background Image From Flash
Hi all,

I am building a site right now that gives the users the option to change the color scheme of the site.

The problem I am running into is my footer an image outside of flash as the background colour of a table.

Is there a way that I can create some sort of function in flash that speaks with the html of the page to change that table cell's background image? I assume it would be javascript if it's possible.

http://rufushale.com/test.html for example.

I am using Flash Pro 8 and DW 8 on ibook g4.

The problem is that i cannot seem to prevent the Flash "stage" from taking up most of the screen, covering the bg image, which is the green stripes. It does not matter how small I make the stage in Flash.

.swf Background In Html Page
I have a application that loads into a html page.
What I would like is for the background color to be a certain color (is there any way to have a .swf as a background color in a html page. / specifically a full scale color while the app stays the same size.

I guess one way could be to make a fullscale layer=0 and then load the app into the second layer=1, but then there is the issue of sizing?

Can anyone help me out, thanks for your time and energy

Changing Background Image Without Refreshing Page

Thanks for help.

Reload This Page How Do I Loop My Scrolling Background Image?
I have a background of some vector clouds. I want them to continuously move to the left, with no jump when they reach the farmost right edge and go back to scroll the beginning.

How do I do this? I looked at Kirupa's continuously scrolling image, but it doesn't behave the way I want it to - it involves fading the image out at the end so you don't notice the gap.

I want something more like this:
http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/...ousmovement.htm

But without the randomly-generated clips, or the responsiveness to the mouse.

Do you understand what I'm saying?

This was done a lot a few years ago, but it seems the ONLY tutorial available is the one Kirupa made which doesn't involve ActionScript (what I'm envisioning, would, I'm just not sure what).

If you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them.

Thanks!

Action Script To Change Background Colour Of Html Page

Action Script To Change Background Colour Of Html Page
Hi, I'm trying to create a button in my flash move that would be able to change the background colour of the html page that holds it. I have posted this question before and someone gave me this code to use:

<html>....<head>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE=JavaScript>
<!--
function NEWbg(newcolor) {
document.bgColor=newcolor;
}
//-->
</SCRIPT>

Button action in flash :
on(release){
getURL("javascript:NEWbg('#FFFFFF')");
}

/////////////////////////////

or from flash w/o any code in html :

on(release){
getURL("javascript:document.bgColor='#FFFFFF'; void(0);");
}

The problem with this is that it brings up a dialogue box about flash security settings when you press the button which obviously won't do. does anyone know another method? Thanks in advance.

Can SWF File Be Background HTML Image?

Background Image Question (HTML)
Hi, I'm trying to achieve creating a Flash movie which has its background set to transparent, then having a background image loaded into the HTML. (Partly inspired by being impressed with a similar effect on Less Rain

I am just about to grips with basic HTML & my transparent movie works fine on top of the image. The problem I have is that the 800 x 600 background image begins to tile on the edges of the page. Does anyone know how I can make the HTML auto-size the backgrond image to fit the entire browser please?

Alternatively, are there ways of getting Flash to embed an image instead of a colour as the background? I use both Flash 5 & 8 depending on project- though I'm relatively intermediate on both.

Hope someone can help, thanks in advance

Background Image For The Published Html
hi guys...super basic, i know. i even looked around the forums, google, etc with no luck (likely cause i just didn't know how to verbalize this). I am curious how to create a background with gradient onto my published html. Must it be an image in the body tag (<body background="image.png">)? i tried this but no luck. I'm hoping the answer may avoid an image for these reasons:

1-i don't know how big the image will need to be
2-it takes longer to load
3-it looks funny trying to fit the flash movie ontop of the image...it's not smooth

any thoughts? thanks

Background Color Change From Swf To HTML-image
I've been having problems with some color changes.

The background picture in the flash movie has a color which is similar to that of a picture that lies in a scaleable HTML-table beside the swf in the indexpage.

The problem is that on lowres/low color monitors, you can see the transition from swf to the HTML table. There's a slight color change that is only visible on low color monitors.

How can I avoid that? Does anybody know that...

HTML - Centering An Image On A Page
I'm working on a page that contains several images contained in one table(nested tables). How do I get this image to center on the page, regardless of screen rez? It's centered at 800x600 but is not vertically centered at any other resoultion. any suggestions?

Swapping Image On Html Page
I have a flash menu embedded in a page, and when I click on a button in the menu, I want an image to change on the page (outside of the movie). I would use FS Command, but the changing images are in the same frame. I've also investigated using LocalConnection, but I guess this doesn't work for many versions of Netscape.

Does anyone have a simple way to accomplish this? Can I use a function on a button in Flash and talk to the javascript on the HTML page? I can use jpgs or ideally another swf for the changing images.

Please send code/samples! Thanks!

Changing An Image On An HTML Page
I need to swap out an image (jpg) that is embedded in the same HTML page as my swf, using a button embedded in the swf. I cannot use LocalConnection between two swfs because of browser compatibility issues. Does anyone out there know any tricks to do this?

Can you use FS command within the same browser window (no frames)??

HTML Background Matching Flash Background
Hey, I have a flash website that opens as a pop up, the pop auto fullscreens. The background in the flash document is a gradient, and I have a gradient in the background of the html. Last Shot At It Today(thursday) Deadline-I Will Have To Open New Html Page With Image
Hi all, I would be really greatful if someone could have a look at the .fla and html and see what is happening. I fear that I will now have to just put a link on the buttons opening new urls with the full size images on them, Not the best solution but it seems the only way!
My site at the moment is www.geocities.com/edwickes/indexfunky.html and the flash scrollbar on the right is where I want users to be able to click to show large jpgs in the div in the middle where the scan002.jpg is at the moment.

I have put the following javascript:
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript">
<!--

function MM_findObj(n, d) { //v4.01
var p,i,x; if(!d) d=document; if((p=n.indexOf("?"))>0&&parent.frames.length) {
d=parent.frames[n.substring(p+1)].document; n=n.substring(0,p);}
if(!(x=d[n])&&d.all) x=d.all[n]; for (i=0;!x&&i<d.forms.length;i++) x=d.forms[i][n];
for(i=0;!x&&d.layers&&i<d.layers.length;i++) x=MM_findObj(n,d.layers[i].document);
if(!x && d.getElementById) x=d.getElementById(n); return x;
}

function MM_swapImage() { //v3.0
var i,j=0,x,a=MM_swapImage.arguments; document.MM_sr=new Array; for(i=0;i<(a.length-2);i+=3)
if ((x=MM_findObj(a[i]))!=null){document.MM_sr[j++]=x; if(!x.oSrc) x.oSrc=x.src; x.src=a[i+2];}
}
//-->
</script>

and actionscript on the button (it is the top one in the flash scrollbar on the right).

I get a javascript error. I attach my .fla to see if that helps at all to see where I am going wrong.

TIA for anything

Naming Of HTML Entry Page & Flash Intro Page?
Hey Everyone. What is the best way to name the entry non-Flash (HTML) page - the splash or index page, whatever it's called - that is the gateway to the final Flash site, which will open in a new window? When users type in the basic web URL - for example, http://www.mysite.com - I want them to come upon an entry page that states "Click here for Flash Player 6" and "Enter if you have Flash Player 6". When the user types in the basic URL should I have the entry page called http://www.mysite.com/index.htm?

One step further... How do I configure things so that when the user comes to the entry page, Flash 6 is automatically detected on both Mac & PC platforms? Detailed answers will be much appreciated, as well as links to tutorials.

Anyway To Have A Small Html Page Embedded Into A Larger Flash Page?
I've developed a website completely in Flash. Now, I have a space in this Flash page where I would like to have, upon a certain button click, load up an HTML page...within the Flash page itself. So, I have the layout, and all the links and all that in the Flash website. In the content area of that Flash site, I want an html page to appear after clicking a certain button, thus turning the Flash into somewhat of a border. Is there any simple way to do this?

Ugly Transition From Flash Page To Html Page
Hi-

I made a flash movie with soundtrack as an intro for my client. At the end of the movie I put a frame action to get URL and automatically jump to the main page of the site. The background color for the site is black, but in between the intro flash page and the main nav page, white flashes for a split second. You can see the work in progress at www.musicbymelinda.com/melindasite/.

She loves the movie, hates the jarring white flash. I tried lengthening the movie, it didn't help ... she does not want to make her viewers click on a button to enter site.

Any suggestions how to make a smooth transition? thanks. -knox
