Hey all,
I'm putting together a demo reel of a variety of Flash projects we've done.
I would like the resulting file to be controllable with a Flash controller, meaning I'd like users to be able to pause it, rewind, fast forward or scrub through it.
I already have a component for the VCR style controller but how would you suggest putting the various pieces together in a way that it will be controllable?
- Should I bring in each of the various Flash movies as a separate scene in an external movie, then export it as a SWF and load it into a holder MC?
- Should I bring each of the various movies into a separate slide? Would slides even work with a controller?
Is there a comletely different way altogether? What do you guys think?

Creating A Showreel/demo Reel With Flash Movies
Hi,
I want to make a showreel/demoreel of my flash character animation work as opposed to making a portfolio website. It is purely flash movies with no interactivity and so I want to make a linear showreel (or just very long movie of my work). I have just found that it is near impossible to import flash .swf files as quicktime movies into After Effects as AE 7 doesn't seem to read the quicktime movies, or quicktime doesn't read the swfs, I don't really know.
Does anyone know of a quick way to edit my flash movies into a demo reel format? Are there any freeware packages that I could use. I would want to ouput to either swf or a quicktime file.

Ok, this is what I need done. First of all, if you have been to my site you know that my sister and I are a brother-sister tap team. We are looking to make a demo reel using some of our video clips that we have.

What is the most effective way of showing video on the web?
Do I embed a flash video on my flash site or open a seperate url
as a quicktime or wmv?
Do I need a seperate streaming app or is flash effective enough?
The demo reel needs to be small but still have sharp image, It will be higher quality than normal as it is an efx reel.
Any ideas?

Well the boss there told me i should prepare a reel that showcases my animation skills alongside my Design skills ( obvious ) using any software that am comfortable with (which is flash8 ), ever since ive been doing alot of research on this and came accross some realy cool animations out there like http://www.andreaswannerstedt.se/session/ .... done by the famous Andreas Wannerstedt ( got me all worked up )
I would like to adopt a simmilar idea as this http://www.andreaswannerstedt.se/session/ on my flash reel , but obviously diffrent colours , layout and content ,... my main problem is i am not so sure what processes to follow to achive this kind of clean effects...
( is it action scripts , or just filters or both ? and how does he get to have all the graphics interact that well switching from scene to scene)

Here i preparing 1 flash demo. In this i need to implement a voice to read the contents which is display in the demo. Meanwhile i want to add some typing sound in the playback.
I called the voice by using the linkage property with actionscript.
and i called the typing sound in frames.

Tradeshow Flash Demo
Which dimensions do you think I should design "stretchy" flash (to fill a screen) for a setup that has the following conditions:
42" 16:9 aspect ratio plasma screen and 1280x1024 resolution. The laptop that drives it runs SVGA, which I think is 1024 x 768
I would imagine I would want to stay with the dimensions of the computer's output, but the 16:9 aspect ratio, I'm afraid, may stretch the width or height.
Any ideas?

Hi All,
I'm looking for sites that have a good flash demo of their software or online product. Nothing too crazy, just clean and easy for the user to navigate/watch.

Situation:
- 5 seperate movies which are combined one big running demo presentation
- No interactive elements included
- After finishing one movie the next should start automaticly

Just downloaded a demo version of Flash MX and produced an animated banner but I'm having problems viewing it as html. Is the demo restricted to what you can save or am I doing something wrong?

Developers From The Flash Demo
I attended a Flash Seminar at the DGA (Los Angeles) building last month. Sadly, I can't find the notes that I have on the people that showcased their sites. We are looking to contact the developers of three particular flash sites, namely:
1) The site that opens with a shot of earth, a loud explosion efffect, and some cool date navigational stuff related to the flash development timeline.
2) A red bull site where you have a real-time map of the skier, plus you have an option of switching camera views.
3) A site that was supposed to be on online version of a board game, where you try to guess a word described by people uploading their video clues.
It would be of great help if anyone can provide the URL for these sites - or the brains behind them. Thank you.
Flash CS4 Demo - Buggy
I downloaded and installed the Flash CS4 demo today to give it a trial run. It crashed as soon as I attempted to use it. I attempted again and now have the SBBOD. Oh, and now Flash CS3 crashes too after having installed the upgrade. Naturally bad timing since I'm working on a Flash project.
I'm on a Mac with OS 10.4.11
[Edited] I found the separate Uninstall File, so I'll remove Flash CS4 from my system. Hopefully I can get Flash CS3 back and running.

Flash Demo Filesize.
Does anyone know the average filesize of a Flash demo? I know it varies, but I am doing one now that is about 4 minutes long, with 4 distinct sections and 6 audio clips. I am up to 2.5 megs, and I just finished the intro!

App Demo In Flash - Mouse Movement
I am creating a flash demo with narration to walk a user through an application. I am trying to avoid doing a bizillion screengrabs of the demo-ed application to show the mouse movement of a someone using it - clicking on items etc... Is there something out there that would make this easier? A way to record the movements on the monitor and import it into flash?

I just linked to a powerpoint file from Flash and it opens a browser windo instead of Powerpoint the program.

Anybody Want To Show Off A Page With A Flash Demo?
I need a referral to a page that uses a Flash video to provide an
instruction to somebody such as "how to fry an egg" or whatever. Something
light-weight and not too serious or intellectual as I have to get the point
across to a real dinosaur: my business partner. But please, it has to load
fast as this so-called web developer won't pay for broadband and still uses

I found a thread before about displaying a portfolio made form a flash, i saw someone reply to theat post and make a kind of a mini-flash site, the problem is I cant find it ANYWHERE in this Flash MX forum, I've searched the whole forum.
When I need help is a flash site, I've seen the tutorial on this site about the full flash site, but that still does not quite fulfil my question. What would be more better, is that if someone could kindly attatch a flash file, so I could see how a flash site is made, with the animated buttons and how the hyperlinks are made. there does not need to be any real content, I just need to see how a good flashy flash site would be made.

Flash Demo And Presentation Program
Hi there,
I'm looking for a cheap and easy to use program that allows me to create a simple flash "feature tour" of my website. I don't necessary need to record on screen action, I just need some simple animations of screenshots with the possibility to add sound and some animation effects...
Programs like captivate or camtasia (or so) cost several hundred dollars. Since I only need to create this single presentation, I don't want to spend that much.

Syncing Audio To Flash Demo
Hi,
i am about to set up a screenshot demo in Flash with audio that is synced to the screenshots. There will also be "ambient" sound in the background, so I need to have a seamless transition from one frame to another.
RoboDemo has been recommended, but I understand from its website that each frame needs to have its own audio file. Is this suitable for my needs? Can RoboDemo be altered for a single audio file to be synced? If not, is there a better suggestion?

Cotton Reel
here's a little thing i made whilst i was messing around.
my idea was to create a 'cotton reel' that is on a spring so that you can pull string from it, and when you loosen your string, it rolls back up.

Help With Picture Reel
I'm creating a picture show reel. It's very basic, but it's only for learning purposes. As far as I can tell, the Actionscript is correct. It's supposed to show three slides, but instead it's showing four. And the first two are overlapping each other. Can someone take a look at it for me? Thanks. I'll also post the code. Robo Demo Does Not Work With Flash MX 2004
A heads up for those of you looking to purchase RoboDemo and edit movies in Flash with the FLA Module:
The FLA Module does not work with Flash MX 2004. The cursor motion tweens are misdirected for every mouse action. The FLA Module will also corrupt the import function on your system, preventing the import of movies, sound, and some images.
Macromedia just bought out robodemo, so there may be a fix in the future (no date set, and no promise that these problems will be solved), but for now, it doesn't work. The product doesn't come with any free customer support, and they won't stand behind the product (the customer support email address kicks back a 'not-received' message) - too bad, because it'd be pretty slick if the whole thing worked. just a heads up...
Flash Player + Turbo Demo Problem HELP
good day all,
I'm currently runnign flash player 9, and I currently have a training that was recorded using Turbo Demo. The problem with flash player 9 and 8, is that when you launch the Turbo Demo simulation, the VCR (playback controls) disappear. Does anybody know a work around to avoid this or a work around to correct the action?

Picture Reel Problem

I have just tried to make a flash picture reel that loads up jpg's externaly and shows them in the picture viewer that you can scroll horizontaly (Newbie stuff or what! But that's me newbie ) Anyway when the pictures load up they don't load in the position of placeholder_mc and only one of them actually shows up? I need to know why they wont show in place? If you need to see the file I have ZIP'd it up and attatched it to this post with the pictures to.

Reel Rolling Effect
How can i recreate the effect of reels on a fruit machine rolling and then stopping. I want to create a banner where the reels roll and then stop one by one with my title in each reel but i want it to look realistic.

How can I do an old fashion film effect with scratches, the number countdown, and maybe even the sound of it all too? Is there a tutorial out there that will help? I am not sure if it would have to be a separate movie loaded on top of the main movie I want to show though.

Scrolling Picture Reel
Hi I need some help please. I am trying to accomplish a scrolling pic reel exactly like the one on this website http://www.lomamedia.com/V1.html. I want it in a bottom, scrolling continously without any pause or break in between and so far i have came up with this code only
