Changing Dimensions Of The Whole Movie (stage Size And All Elements)... [MX2004]
Hi there...

Is there a way to easily change the stage size of a movie and all the elements within?

It can be done manually bit by bit (selecting and shrinking elements only applies for the currently viewed block of frames), but I've got 750 frames and many layers... and that makes it a nasty business... so needless to say I'm hesitant to go through that if there is in fact a fast, convenient method out there!

Maintaining Flash Movie Screen Resolution Size
Hello, I wonder if there is anyway that one can design a site in flash that will display at the same same, regardless of what the viewer's screen resolution is?

My resolution is 1280x768 but when others view my site with a lower resolution (ie 800x600) then my site is too large. It is really frustrating as if I design my site at a higher resolution, the text is too small for a high resolution screen....UGH !!!

Can A Flash Movie Online Adapt To Screen Size?
Hallo We have recently created an animated ident to sit on a html page. This looks fine on a standard computer screen but a tad odd on a wide screen, with a sad blank space on each side of the movie. Is is possible to add a script to the movie to make it adapt to wide screens?

[F8] Fullscreen Flash While Elements Stay The Same Size?
Hey all,

I've made a flv player which includes a fullscreen option, but when it goes fullscreen the nav buttons look dumb because they're so big.. Is there a way to set certain elements to not resize once it goes fullscreen? I don't want to have to make a second nav which shows up upon fullscreen... lazy

Masking The "off Screen" Elements Of A Movie.
Hey folks. In my clips I want to "mask" everything outside of the movie's resolution so that they are not drawn. I'm a little new to ActionScript 3; in DirectX programming, I used to call this clipping, where offscreen elements would not be drawn.

I noticed there is a stage.mask function, but I can't find any documentation on how to use it, or if it's even what I'm looking for.

I tried drawing gigantic black boxes around the sides of my video, extending outwards, but this is a big resource hog (plus, the items are still being drawn, they're just not visible).

I imagine something like this must be possible. I was thinking, if I could render the whole flash clip to a texture and then just draw the texture onto the main stage, that would work too, but I don't know if that is possible. It seems like it would be easier if there were a function that simply clipped everything outside the flash video's resolution.

What options do I have? Thanks a ton!

[F8] Movie Screen Size Problem
When I test my movie with the control|test function, it cuts off the edges of my movie, but I spaced it enough so that's not a problem. However, when I export the flash doc as a quicktime movie, it loads it from the bottom left corner or something (rather than the center which control|test does) so it cuts off the top of the movie. How do I fix this. I could shrink my images, but the placement of images in the keyframes is the same, so I would have to go through each of the keyframes and adjust the x,y position. Is there a better way?

Full Screen Up To Movie Size
I've got a flash website that uses html to always fill the screen regardless of screen resolution.

I want it to fill the screen up to the point the size would exceed the actual size of the flash movie. So the movie would fit the browser is the browser is smaller than the movie, but if the browser is larger than the movie dimensions, the movie would play at actual size and not fill the browser.

I didn't now if an if/then statement or equivalent could be added to the html to do this.

What Do You Think The Average Screen Size For A Movie Should Be ?
Hi, uptill now all the Flash work i've done, i've always know it to be appearing within a certain size and resolution

i.e. 800 x 600 in a 1024 res screen (its been for work private presentations)

I am now doing my own project for the web (none of my work has ever made it onto the web?).

what is you opinion on the average size for a movie (i.e. most user friendly)

I believe it to be 800x600 (so it still would fit into the lowest denominator size of 800x600 resolution ) ?

Best Movie Size To Fit All Screen Resolutions
Does anyone know the best movie size to use regardless of which browser (IE or Netscape) or screen resolution you user has. Somewhere I had found that information and now I can not find it again...I am pretty sure that the setting were as follows:

Dimensions: Percent 100%
Scale Default (Show all)

But I am unsure of the document size (stage)
it was something like 764 x 620 I think

Advice On Movie Size Vs Screen Resolution?
Hello, so I've been reading up on what the best resolution/size for a flash based site is. I was looking and hoping for some advice or tips on how other people have solved this problem. Basically from what i've researched that the most popular screen resolution is 800x600. i personally think its kind of small... especially cause i dont really know anyone who has their screen set that way. So i was thinking is it best to design a site in 800x600 and then have set the html script to go fullscreen so it scales up for bigger computers. or split the difference and design at 1000 and let it scale up a little for those at 1200 and scale down a bit for those at 800?

one more simple question. is saying that the populace has there resolution set to 800x600 also saying that they have small screens??? is that dumb

Option To Launch Either Full Screen Or Movie Size
Hi there

I would like to have an option on my html page offering the user the choice of launching my flash movie (800 by 600) either full screen (i.e maximised with just the title bar) or at the movie size (i.e 800 by 600 with just the title bar)

Ideally I would like to have 2 checkboxes on the html page or something similar.

Anyone know how to do this or can point me in the direction of a tutorial or example of how to do this?

Setting Size Of Movie, According To Users Screen Resolution
So I have made mistake - I have made too big movie for all users who work with 600x800 px resolution, and now I whant to change this mistake.
What I'm intending to do is to force movie reduce it's size according to resolution. I now exactly how to do it in stand-alone player:

System.capabilities.screenResolutionX //gives te X resolution
System.capabilities.screenResolutionY //gives te Y resolution

and if I have those values I can set _root._width and _root._height but how to do it within html?

I dont whant to use smth like exactfit, I need to scale movie only once - onLoad.

Maybe someone has this expierience?

How do I enlarge the stage to the realistic size a viewer would see it on a website while testing the movie? It stays small and doesn't give me a realistic sense of how it would really be viewed online?

Preloader, Screen Questions, Faster Loading, Movie Size...
Ok...I have about a thousand questions. Let me start here...my current problem is with my dynamic text fields. I'm webmastering a site for a band. I'm not too familiar with Flash, though I've given myself the crash course in it through the tutorials.
I use the same "text box" that is scrollable on different parts of the site. As in, you click on one of the images i made a button (the link button) and it changes what is displayed in the text box. Now, when i type the information into flash, it works fine. Cool. What I want it to do is i want to script it to load from an external txt file, i.e. "url.txt". I'm not sure where to put the scripting for this to load these variables. I've got each seperate set of texts as seperate instances...what i need to know is the script to have it load and place the external text in the field at the window...everything I've tried hasn't worked...any help?

Full Screen With Elements Staying Positioned

I'd like to have a background image which resizes to fit the browser window but also have the navigation and content areas stay in position.

How is this possible? At what size do I publish the movie? What size should the background image be at to maintain a clear quality?

Size Of Page Elements
Lost - Dazed & Confused. I have designed a page although, it is so huge, anybody's computer with even the very highest connection goes to sleep before it can download this huge page. I have texts, graphics, and photographs throughout this page. The only thing I can think of doing is to somehow reduce the sizes of these elements.
1) Does anybody know if that is what I need to do - or is there something else that I can do instead?
2) If I do need to reduce the sizes, can somebody please tell me what formats I need for the texts, the graphics, and the photographs.
3) Is there any easy way of doing this? Or would I have to go back to all of these programs that was used to create all of these things and change the formats there? If so, how would I do that?

My Flash Movie Cover Other JS Elements

As you can see, there is a YELLOW menu, when you place your mouse pointer over the menu, it unfolds the submenu options. The problems is that those submenu options remains hidden under the flash movie. Its something like the flash movie lapels the JS menu.

What can I do about it?... Is there any property to make my flash movie go to the background?

Size To Use For Full Screen Flash

however, i want to display content so that it is full screen at 1024x768 pixels resolution in browser and in Windows XP....i took the recommended advice of making stage size 920 x 850, however i cannot seem to display it properly.

what i did was resize the picture to 920 x 850 then make the stage 920x850, then put code in for window resizing.

take a look at my .fla file please, could anyone help me to fix this problem?

Sometimes Elements Of A Flash Movie Don't Load On Stage
occasionally, publishing and playing in flash 8, i'll look at my site in a browser and a certain visual element does not load. as soon as i refresh the page it is there though.

i'm using a typical preloader and then the movie is there; no xml or streaming components, just basic flash. for example, i'll have a movie that has a movieclip in it that has, lets say, a picture of a truck with a drop shadow underneath that are 2 seperate graphic elements. sometimes the drop shadow is there but not the truck. i'll have another movie with another movieclip in it, all on the stage, not attached or anything and sometimes it doesn't load. i'll refresh and it's there. just one preloader for the entire movie.

anyone else ever have this happen or does anyone know why this might be happening? thanks for your time.

Can You Have Usable Href(able) Elements On Top Of Flash Movie?
I'd like to have several href-linked text elements on top of a flash movie
that directs to different pages. With possibly each href in a layer unto
itself.

I've already built a site www.trappio.net that has href-linked text menu
navigation elements on top of a static background pic, but I'd like to
substitute the pic for a .swf movie and still be able to have the menu text
displayed on top of it.

Any ideas anyone on how i could pull this off?

Stand-Alone Flash Screen Size Force
I am making a stand-alone flash application, to be used on both PC and MAC for my school. It is going to be a Financial Officer training module for student government organizations.

I was wondering how I can force screen size for a stand alone projector or exe file in flash. Some of what i'm done is hanging off the canvas in flash, and if you resize the window a certain way, those things become visible. I want the window to be un-resizable.

But when I published from a host site it diaplay smaller.

Flash Slideshow Size - Plasma Screen
Hey all, Im going to be working on a flash slideshow for a marketing presentation. I was told that it is going to be routed from a laptop to a plasma screen. Ive never done this before so I had a few questions.

1. What size should I make the presentation? We discussed and it will be a reg 4:3 aspect ratio..so does that translate to 800x600?

Flash Full Screen With Fixed Size MovieClip
I have a jpeg image (1024x768 pixels) that I want to use as a background for a full screen Flash movie, where the image fills the user's entire screen and will scale when the window is resized. I can do this simply enough by publishing the movie full screen. However, I also want to load a movieClip that does not scale. I want the movieClip to keep it's original size of 600x400 pixels regardless of the window size. Does anyone know how this can be done?

Nested Mcs, Loadmovie Under A Mask And Flash 100% Screen Size
Hi, 2 separate issues that are foxing me.

First, I am using this code to try and target an empty mc that is under a mask (1 frame only) to load external swf.

flipin mc is a short animation for the whole movie. I would also like level0 to have just a background image, and load the start.swf on top of that (this is working fine at the moment by loading start.swf to level1)

I have looked around on the net for a while but couldnt find any definitive advice on how to structure a site using menu and various external swfs, without loading each one to level0.

Basically I want to load each swf into the specific mc (generated by actionscript or an actual empty mc with same instance name) that is under a mask (a visual 'frame')

in terms of how it scales automatically to any screen. I want to do this with actionscript. I tried a few things I found on forums but couldnt get them to work.
