Flash Site Not Working In IE7 But Ok In Firefox(Newbie To Flash Websites)
So i have created a simple 4 page flash site with CS3 as an actionscript 2.0.
My website works just fine in Firefox but does not work at all in internet explorer. Does anyone know if this is a Flash issue or Internet Explorer doing something weird. Feel free to check out my source file on the site.
I created the layout in Photoshop then imported it into Flash. From there all i did was hit publish. Am i missing a step?

Keyboard Control-for A Very Newbie Newbie
I was wondering if there is a simple way to control flash animations when
pressing a key on the keyboard. Example: Scene 1 is an animation of a
circle, this scene will continue to loop until I press the 'f' key, and
then the flash movie will change to Scene 2 where we see the circle
explode. I looked around flashkit.com and found some tutorials, but I
think they used an earlier version of flash, because I can't find the
instance properties in order to change the action from mouse click to key
press. I own flash professional 8. Anyway, I can use as much help as I
can get, so if you know of an action parameter in which I can execute
this...action, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time!

Flash Newbie
I just bought Flash mx and am trying to learn on my own how to use the program and eventually create websites with it. I am using the "teach yourself in 24 hours" books for flash mx and actionscripting, but sometimes it seems that maybe learning on my own will not be enough. Should I be enrolled in classes? Or will things eventually fall into place? Are books enough? I see some of the posts on this website and the things that are discussed make absolutly no sense to me and can be quite intimidating. Is this normal for a newbie? What advice can you give for someone who is at the very beginning of using flash?

Flash MX Help For A NEWBIE
I am fairly new to Flash, and have question about having multiple movies together on one screen (I guess that is how you would say it). I want to have 3 different things happen (not at the same time), what I want is a Entrance movie, a description movie, and a gif animation all at the main page of my web.
I have drawings of how I would like it to look (Very basic). Just not sure how to go about it. I bought a book "Flash MX for Dummies", but it doesn't say anything about multiple layers of movies in one main movie.
IS THIS POSSIBLE and if so AM I WAY OVER MY HEAD?

Can anybody explain to me how this is done: there's a full screen image,and in the images there are buttons disguised to blend in with the look of the image.Everytime a button is pressed the view of the screen slowly pansnand floats like a camera onto a new part of the image and comes to a stop there.

Flash MX Newbie
I finally have time to do this but I have been having a hard time learning flash. Finally I get the time again. I recently bought Lynn Kyles Flash course, but I haven't been able to use it. Newbie To Flash
Well, since the descrip of the forum says that there are no such thing as stupid questions here, I'll post my question here.
I just finished installing Flash 5 and I was toying around with it. I noticed that the book(s) that came with the program appear to be 2000 pages of tutorial! That's insane!
Anyways, I was curious as to how I do the following:
1. Bring a solid stop at the end of a frame or a scene so the image isn't flashing like a strobe light.
2. How do I insert motion to images and/or text?
I'd like to have a few images I plan to use fade in to view then move across the screen; then finally fade out before the next scene begins. For the text, I'd like to have it begin 'at the back' of the screen and slowly come forward then fade in sync with the image as it fades out; a pause then the next scene begins.
I sure hope that made some sense to someone

Flash Newbie Needs Help
Hello. As you can see by my post count, I am a newbie to these forums and to Flash. I would like to make a website in Flash and while I develop it I would like to have people be able to access a shoutbox. Here is what I have:

Newbie To XML And Flash

Flash Help For Newbie - Please

I'm working on building a flash version of my site, and am having trouble figuring a few things out. I'm hoping that someone can help.
The beginnings of the flash version can be seen HERE. Don't laugh, it's still a work in progress, with many design/layout elements that need fine tuning and replacement on the page.
Here is my first question (will probably have more later):
1) I'm trying to figure out how to make UNIQUE pop-up boxes for when I roll-over "Print" "Identity" and "Multimedia". The problem is that when I try to change or recreate a new box it seems to change all three boxes (accidently deleted one so the box only shows up on "Print" and "Multimedia" now). Anyway, can someone step me through how to create four distinct boxes that will come up when folks roll over Print, Multimedia, Identity, and my URL

so new.... i dont know how to program a project due in two days. I need some suggestions as to what kind of scripts I am looking for. The idea is:
Program a user interface for an espresso machine. I have attached the file in case anyone wants to view it
-when a button is pressed, the movie should retain the value of that actiion until another is pressed to alter it. there are multiple buttons and actions going on at the same time, and i need to retain the "action" of each one throughout the movie.
i have a feeling this could be done with multiple timelines? how do I connect timelines?

Flash + Xml Newbie
Hey
This is a vague question. I have never touched xml but want to build a site that retrieves xml data from another site. can i retrieve it directly using an actionscript command such as getURL () or will i need to build a php script to work between the xml and flash site?

Hi
Just started to use Flash Mx.
I am trying to make a small 'advert' so to speak on the masthead of a website that displays my business services , fading in and out (effect).
Basically as follows "
Size 100 x 80 pixels
Background colour - Black
Text to be shown- Pc Services - which then fades into background , then slowly , another Pc Service comes into view eg. Hardware Troubleshooting/ Software Troubleshooting etc , etc just continuously playing.

Hi all
I just started using Flash MX yesterday. I'm picking it up quickly I think, doesn't seem too complicated (especially when using the tutorial!).
I'm having trouble with buttons though. I want text to appear on the stage when the cursor rolls over the button. I'm sure that this is an easy thing to pull off, but the tutorial isn't entirely clear about it.

[F8] Newbie To Flash 8 Here.
Hi people.
I am having a huge problem( for me that is).
I am doing some work on a website, and I have a flash movie as the index. Then I want the home page to load after the movie ends. Problem is that when I type in the address (using the index.swf) I keep getting an error message that says page (index.html) not found. But that isnt the index anymore. I used the getURL (home.html) in the action script, but I keep getting the same message. The site is www.nyvenom.com. If I Google it, it loads the original index.html. What am I doing wrong?

I am using a button on my navigation (very basic nav)

Flash Newbie
I am trying to do a project for my master's class. I have some beginner questions using CS3.
1) How can I resize pictures/videos while keeping their aspect ratios?
2) I imported a FLV video but the sound/video get out of sync, however they are fine if the flv movie is viewed using WMP. I have the scene FPS set to 30 (but have tried 25 and 27 as well).

What Should I Use? Newbie Flash Q's
OK, so I have been working with flash MX 2004 for years now. Though I have not used it much, I did make a few short animation clips and really enjoyed working with it (seemed like it could do it all!).
However, I am no longer able to safely use that program, as now that I have vista ultimate 32bit, when I missclick the toolbar the program crashes instantly (and it is very easy to have that happen)!
Having said that I am basically a noob to this whole world of flash and want to know, what are the best programs for making flash animation cartoons? I am not looking to make games, this is strictly for making 2d cartoons.
Searching google just left me scratching my head, so I figured I'd ask the people who actually use the many programs.
Flash 8? Is that the best today?
BTW- my first post here, I registered here as this looks like the best flash forum on the net =)

Howdy guys
Newbie here, first post, hope someone can advise me or point me in right direction ? my question is this ..
I run a motorcycle forum and in the header logo theres a big space, in that space I wanted to put like a flash ticker system in where I could display RSS news feeds for latest news on the motorcycle season, motogp, bsb and wsb, also with a section for site announcements.

Can Flash Do This? (newbie Here)
I work as a scientific programmer, and create a lot of different kinds of plots. I've recently been tasked to find a way for our center to create movies of these things. We need small file size and high resolution, if at all possible, so that we can share our stuff on the web. I'm thinking Flash might be the answer, but I don't know how to go about plotting things in swf format, other than using actionscript. Perhaps ActionScript is the answer. But can actionscript make contour plots, velocity vector plots, and what not? Any advise is welcome!! Thanks!

Newbie Needs Help (Flash 8 Pro)
Hi,
I'm new to Flash (8 Pro) and I need help editing a SWF file.
I have reviewed the help files but I can not find out how I can view individual frames so that I can edit the file.
I have successfully imported the SWF file and the frames (1800+) are shown in the timeline.
However, I am not able to find out how I can view the individual frames within the Stage, and/or edit the individual frames.
This is a 60 second SWF file of a little girl singing a song and some of her mouth movements are not in sync with the words to the song.
I want to be able to edit this (add and/or remove specific frames) so that I can make her mouth movements match the words within the song.
Can someone tell me how I can accomplish this?
And/or, direct me to information that will tell me how to do this?

Flash Newbie Help
Basically, I just got CS3 Flash Pro and I'm trying to create a flash film that fades between text and pictures with a song playing in the background... if anyone has an AIM screen name that can help me with this it'd be awesome. I'm guessing there's some kind of template I could create, as I want every 150 frames to have x amount dedicated to the picture fading in, y amount of frames to it fading out, z to the text fading in, then as the text fades out, the new picture to fade in simultaneously and repeat the process a good 30 times... if anyone could help I would REALLY appreciate it!

Flash Newbie, Please Help
Hey guys... I'm a graphic designer and have started teachin myself flash...
I have a question about movie clip navigation... basically I have a page... one section is for work examples... it is labeled work in the main timeline... there are 4 different sections (logo, layout, ad egs etc) in the work section... again labelled on the main timeline, with buttons navigating to each corresponding movie clip.. all labeled accordingly
in the work section on the main page there are forward and back buttons to navigate the movie clips through the frames to show the different images... much like a photo slideshow preset in flash...
the code for which looks like this... (for the adscontent movieclip and "ads" frame label on main timeline)

Flash Newbie
I have a "cloud" shape and I want it to have paint streaks that slowly stretch down from it when the mouse scrolls over it. Then, when the mouse goes off of the cloud shape, the streaks retract back into the cloud.
I have an animation on the stage that starts out with just the cloud, then 20 frames later, the streaks stretch out and reach their furthest point, then 20 frames later they go back in the cloud. I have each streak on it's own individual layer.
I was able to make a button where, when you scroll over, it goes from cloud to cloud with full streaks, (no stretch animation).
So I think I need some action script that when I mouse over the cloud, it tells each individual streak layer to stretch. I don't know if it would be easier if I made all of the streaks on one layer.
Can anyone help? I am new to flash so if you can explain it like I am 2 years-old (minus the baby talk) that would help.

I have 4800 jpg files in my librarie, and i want to put each in a keyframe on scene; the idea is to make a simple movie. Importing a .mov movie, the quality decrease, and i just notice, with the jpg file the swf movie has a better quality.

Newbie Needs Help In Flash 5
Hello
I have created an intro using Swift 3D v 3 and an animation which is going to be used for the navigation bar also done in Swift 3D. I now need some help in Flash 5 to do the following
I want to play the intro first and as soon as the intro is finished the animation for the navigation appears.
However i have tried various ways of doing this but it either keeps looping or after the animation for the navigation plays it then stops and the scene goes blank.
I want the navigation animation to kinda pause at the last frame so that you can still see the animation and i can then create some rollovers and that.
I hope you can understand what i'm trying to do and would appreciate any help in solving this. I can also send you the files if you require.

Help For A Flash Newbie...
Hello everyone, first time poster, long time watcher - great tutorials on here! BUT I cant find what I need, so...
I have made a flash menu, and I have a webpage with a floating frame in it called mainFrame.
When ever I click on the flash buttons, for the new pages to load into the frame, the pages always open up in a new window - doesnt seem to matter what I do or what page i try to load, it always happens. Here are a list of all the different bits of code I have tried:

FLASH MX Help (newbie Here)
I'm a bit new to the whole flash in terms of designing a whole wepage in flash. My current problem is that when i click on a link to go to another one of my pages from the homepage all the stuff on the homepage can be seen with the other stuff on the other pages. Is there a way to stop the stuff from the homepage appearing on the other pages. If anyone understands what I mean please feel free to message me back. Thanks for the help.
