Flash On Webpage Won't Show
Hello there,
I'd really be glad of a bit of help here.
I've put a Flash animation in the header div of the webpage (for Xmas). I loaded it with the 'Insert/Media/Flash' commands in Dreamweaver CS3.
It works when I 'Preview' it in Firefox etc. but when it is uploaded, there is nothing there. I verified the Html and it faulted just about all the code to do with the Flash object.
I've tried playing around with it hoping to sort it out, but it needs someone who knows what he/she is doing.

Controls Do Not Show When Playing Flash Video On Webpage...
I've got a little problem were my flash video does not use the controls with it. Basicly i know that the skins file should be in the same folder as the webpage but, i am wanting to upload a flash video to a host and then embed it to another website. But i don't know how.

[F8] Dynamic Text Buttons Show As 'undefined' On Webpage
Hi there, I have just joined this forum as I am using Flash 8 for a number of things at the moment, and I suspect this place will provide a lot of help for me. Having read through a number of different topics, I have already learned a lot.
I hope someone will be able to help with my problem. The details are as follows:
I created buttons in my Flash movie, for which the text is determined by importing variables from an external text (.txt) file.
All this works fine in Flash itself when testing the movie.
The problem is that when I embed the Flash movie into the webpage (with the .txt file in the same folder) it doesn't import the variables correctly, and so each button says 'undefined'.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Any helpful suggestions would be most appreciated as this is starting to really get me down now.
Cant Get Sound Or Video Controls To Show Up Once Embedded In Html Webpage
I have my flv swf embedded in a html table by way of dreamweaver. Its one of the basic skins from the component library, steelExternalAll.swf. When i play the movie from flash it plays fine, with the video controls showing below, but i notice it has no sound. I then embed the swf in my webpage, and the video will show up, but there will be no controls now and still no sound.......Can anyone tell me why and how i can fix this problem? but i would like the date to change everytime i change or modify my site......so that people who visit my site know if theres new stuff on the site....i know you can do it in Javascript, but i would love to know how to do it entirely using flash so i can place it anywhere in my flash website movie?
Any help will be greatly appreciated......oh i looked through the forums other people have wanted to know how to do this but no one seems to answer them.....

Embed A Webpage.... CGI Webpage Into Flash
Hey...
Pretty much what I would like to do is have a specific URL show in a flash movie. Thats it, nothing else... The main purpose for this is to show my current ebay auctions.
The page I would like to show is a CGI page just like:

Im not sure how to do this, Ive heard that you cannot just embed any website into flash and that you have to turn it into an xml thread but like i said i have no idea.

Flash Uses XML File To Show Pics - Can I Randomize The Show Order?
I'm playing around with a flash template at the moment which uses an external XML file to display pictures in a flash frame. The file:

FLASH WEBPAGE
Forgive my terminology for lack of how to describe what I want to do. I want to build a flash website. I have seen these on the net on here listed as a Flash interface. Ex. instead of an HTML site I want my design to be flash with menus, an intro page, etc. Is there a tutorial I can access on here or somewhere else on the net? this is kind of a dumb question, should of posted it on Newbies.... so far all the Flash movies i made were exported to AVI then incorperated with a game iam making using a game maker thing
anyway....how would i have a flash movie play in a webpage..
such as you go to www.MyMovieForFlash.com thenthe move starts to play... what size should the movie be, also is it possible? then have a button that links to the main page..? and one more thing...anyone know if sites like Geocites can have 3meg flash things on there pages?

I'm new to Flash so i'm not sure if this is easy to do or not.
I was wondering if it is possible for a webpage to display within a swf. I have been messing around in Flash and created quite a few menu's for web pages but for the type of style i want for many of them i need for the webpage to display in the actuall Flash file.

Flash Ads Over Webpage
Can anyone point me towards a tutorial that shows how to build these new flash ads that are popping up that open over the webpage and you have to close by pressing a button. Even this site has one. Another example is the ones that are a typical banner ad but when you hover over them they extend downward. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks much.

This might seem like a stupid question and let me say that I haven't had a chance to upgrade to 8 which could answer this question. Anyway, I've noticed a trend that new flash sites are coming out as the html page. No longer is it flash dropped in a dreamweaver file. How is the whole page flash?

I am trying to make my own Flash Webpage and I dont have a clue where to begin...I surf web all the time and see really good flash pages but I do not know where to begin to design them. Will someone push me in the right direction and maybe send me some flash page that you designed file so I can check it out? They always say "To learn how something works, take it apart"

Hi there. I've been working with some relatively cool things in Flash lately, but then I went to Sony's Flash HomePage and was blown away. Simply, where could I go to learn some amazing Flash and ActionScript skills to develop what the "pop-up menu's" do on their site? (http://www.sony.com) They can't be motion tweens can they? They're, like, magnetized to each other (the menus). Sorry for this dumb question, but this stuff is SO cool. :)

Webpage In Flash
is there a possibility to open a webpage inside a flashsite? I've searched on the internet but couldn't find anything.
What I wanted to creat is a drop down menu that shuffles over a normal htmlbased webpage , but the problem is that the place where the drop down menu comes is also in flash so I can't put a page under it

See in the top corner the flash movie goes on top of all the html and then can be hidden [closed]. I've also seen flash movies that move across the whole page in a cool way, I have searched all over for tutorials but I think I am using the wrong search keywords, does anyone have advice, links or could be kind enough to tell me how it is done?

i have a "skip" button on my movie and it shld skip the whole flash movie and go straight to the webpage.
but im only able to direct the user to the webpage and the flash movie still remains onscreen. is there any way to terminate the movie so that it will not be onscreen?

Making A Webpage In Flash
Hey...I'm new to this forum...and to flash for that matter.
What I'm trying to figure out is how one goes about assembling flash animations into a usable webpage?...I understand the animation part of it...how to make an animation...I figured out even how to import previously made animated GIF rollover images into there....but I'm still confused about where I go from there. Should I use a program like dreamweaver to assemble the flash into a page?...or can you do it entirely in flash?
and...how do I create one of those preloading sequences before the flash starts?...
in photoshop...once I've sliced up my layout...how do I reassemble the slices in flash? can I do that?...can one import an HTML document into flash?...or is flash strictly an animation program?
sorry for all the questions...
but I'm entirely confused...

I've messed with it somewhat, but is there any way to load a webpage into flash (like attach to a movieclip or something)? Or would my best bet be just to create a separate frame and put it in there?

This is a follow up after I had some great help from 'pellepiano'..
Bascially Ive attached a file so it might help people in the future and someone might be able to help me.
The flash file when published to HTML will stretch to the size of the screen keeping the main body the same pixels centered (after you set the page margin properties on dreamweaver to 0).
It has two main sets of code to do this, one to set up the initial page to fit the browser without stretching the images in the page, and the other that will stretch Instances to what you set them to....... I am looking to set the white bar to the bottom of the screen and the blue logo to the top left of screen when in IE?????? anybody help me!???

Flash Webpage Structure
I'm redesigning my webpage, but I have a structure question before I continue. My first page is 129kb, should I put a preloader on it and should I have a first page that doesn't have flash? All the people who will probably be looking at my page will have high speed internet. What is the best way to start/enter your flash web page?

[F8] Dynamic Flash Webpage Help
I plan on making a full flash site and wanted to know if you can use PHP and MySQL to create dynamic content. For example: http://www.computersoftwareint.com/directorio.php here i used php to dynamically create tables and fill in the content from a database. If I add a new row to the database it will automatically create a new row on the webpage. Is this possible with Flash or will I have to create each row individually? If its possible, can anyone direct me to a tutorial or explain how to do this? I already checked the tutorials section but didn't find what I was looking for. Thanks.

Ok I have been looking throught the site tring to find a way to open a webpage in flash but I have not been able to find what I have had in mind. If some one can help me that would be the best.
This is what I am looking to do:
I want a button linked to an external webpage that opens in flash (it's self) as a faded window that comes from the side, top, or bottom. The best way I can explain it is when you pull the dashboard up for window's vista or jaguar. Every thing is fade or out of focus and can not be touched untill the webpage is closed with a X button in the corner.
Please help me ... ^_^ I would be EXTREMELY greatful.

Okay, let's say I've generated some html text in a flash movie, complete with image tags, etc. Let's say I put this chunk of html text into a variable.

A Frame Around Flash Webpage
I am trying to build my website and I would like it to all be in flash... There is something that I have seen on a couple of sites before and am kind of wondering how it was done. I want to create something like a frame... maybe a picture frame discribes it better... around my site so that the whole thing looks to be done in flash the only problem I seem to be having is would I need to make the different parts of the frame (top, sides, bottom) in seperate movies and position those with css or can I do this completely withing my movie... The reason I ask this is that when made in the movie when the browser is resized so does everything else and I want the parts of the frame to be say a constant 25px wide or high.
I don't really know if I was clear enough if not please ask any questions so I can further clarify.

Flash Not Displaying In Webpage
I am having a problem with the display of a flash movie I've created. I created the movie in MX 2004. I set the publish settings to AS 2.0 and Flash 7 (highest it allows me to go). I can view the file fine in the website, but my client cannot see it.
I have asked them to upgrade to flash player 8 and they have done so. They are using IE 5.x to view the site. All they get is a white box instead of the flash movie.

Printing Webpage From Flash
Hi,
Sorry if this is a really simple/stupid question but i'm quite new to flash so forgive me!
What i am trying to do is to have a Print Page button in my flash file, export it as a .swf and then embed it in a HTML page. When you click on it, it opens up the browsers print options (exactly as if you had used the browser window controls)
Is this possible in flash and if so how?? Any help would be appreciated.

Can't Link To A Webpage From Flash On The MAC
I'm developing a browser-based CD project that uses some Flash. I am trying to link to a webpage from the Flash application by calling a Javascript function that uses window.open(link). I did this to get around the issue I was having with Flash accessing the web from the CD on a PC. But this same method doesn't work on the MAC. When I click on the link on a MAC nothing happens.
