Flash Player 9 On Vista 64

Oddly enough, after having installed the Flash player 9 on my 32 bits browser on Vista Ultimate 64, I get presented with a message, all sites that use Flash content, which tells me I need Flash player 6 or higher to view their content.I'm clueless to a solution. I've done anything on my end that I could come up with to fixt the problem:1) Reinstall the player on my 32 bits browser.2) Make sure I use the same browser to view the sites.3) Restart the browser.4) Reboot my system.5) Use a registry fixing tool to fix possible errors in the registry.6) Reinstall again. Your install web page confirms every time I visit it that I have Flash 9 installed, however all those other sites keep insisting that I need to install a Flash player version 6 or higher. It makes me want to pull out my hair...Any ideas as to how I can resolve my problem?

Flash Player In Vista (IE7)
Flash player works with Vista, until reboot. Then must unistall and reinstall. Anyone know of a fix?

IE7, Vista & Flash Player 9
Hello,

I am new. I have been trying to install the Flash Player but I get an error msg that reads, "Network Error." I have Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Vista Home Premium. Does anyone know where I can download it properly? I also downloaded and ActiveX file for FP9 and a plug-in. Neither work. Can anyone help?

Flash Player For Vista X64 ?
Ahem... (standing on soapbox)

So, when might we be *graced* with a version of Flash Player that will be compatible with Vista x64????

New computers being sold have a heavy percentage with Vista x64. I've had it now for 1 year, 10 months....

Hello? Is anybody there? (Crickets chirping....)

Come on Adobe! This is getting embarrassing!

(Stepping down off of soapbox)

Vista May Come With Flash Player 9
"Microsoft has offered Adobe the opportunity to have its Acrobat PDF reader, Flash and/or Shockwave technologies bundled into Vista, Heiner said. Microsoft also has extended to Adobe an offer to include in Windows Vista their own "Save as PDF" plug-in. Adobe is still considering the PDF reader, Flash and/or Shockwave integration, but is not interested in the PDF-export technology deal, Heiner said."

Revert To Flash Player 8 On Vista?
I am having issues with fscommand("exec",'myfile.exe") in using CS3. I need to revert back to player 8 and I can't seem to do this. I have uninstalled the flash player 8 active x control. And installed an archived version of 8...but the player keeps using version 9. I am testing with a flash projector file... would that have the player 9 already built into it?

Thanks,
Doug

Vista + Flash Player 9 + Yahoo E-mail = Bad
I've verified this on 3 machines so I'm a bit convinced it is a real problem. I started having problems typeing in e-mails in Yahoo mail. It may be occuring in other dialog boxes, but I've only verified it in Yahoo mail. One 3 seperate machines runing Vista in either 32 bit or 64 bit versions, I've noticed that Adobe's flash player has a memory resident "flash helper" in version 9. When that process is active, typing often drops characters. Once I kill the process, then typing resumes to normal functionality. Can anyone else verify this problem?

PROBLEM: Flash Player - Vista Business - Pausing Code
I have migrated over to a new PC with Vista Business installed.

Everything was working fine - then I installed ALL available updates. I now have a problem when developing Flash games, they pause when any code is being process - http://www.donpixel.com/play/en/060421094956/ - this Optus game pauses everytime I either click the ball or the ball bouses.

Is anyone aware of the update which causes this 'juddering' or 'pausing'... as this has now happened on two brand new and individual machines - what is the problem!

Standalone Player (Projector) SOL Fails In Vista
I have a Flash MX application compiled as a Projector to run as a Windows standalone (no browser), but it needs to get data from a server application using sendAndLoad (through plain HTTP). This data must be stored in Shared Local Objects (.sol files) for the app to run. It works fine in Windows XP, and did work fine in initial Windows Vista. But now it fails in Vista SP1 (although server logs show it still runs the server app). So either Vista SP1 is blocking the data return (and the firewall is open for the Flash exe), or preventing the Flash exe from writing the SOL file to disk - or something else I haven't thought of.

Grateful for a solution.

Flash In Vista?
I'm having a problem running Flash MX (version 6 i guess) in Vista. Going into videoclips goes very slowly. Also, when I save my .fla and try to open it again, I double click the fla and flash opens and says that it cannot find the fla even though I just clicked it to open it!

Flash And Vista
i am probably going to be running the vista os soon - are there any issues with using flash 8 pro and the vista os?
cheers

Another Flash BUG Or Vista? Or Me?
Has anyone encountered this issue with flash cs3 on Vista operating system? I would compile my code and everything is fine. Then I'll make a minor change to trace() something different and the next time I compile the code, the change is not reflected on the output. This has been an issue all day so far and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with Vista? I would have to close and reopen flash or even restart the computer just to see the changes i made in my code. Is there some editing I can do to flash under perferences or somewhere to make the program flush out all old files or something???

Flash MX 04 On Vista
Hello,

This a question concerning flash and the rest of the studio products running on Vista. I know these products are not Vista capable and who knows when they will as Adobe doesn't seem to care to much about the studio bundle.

But for now, running on Vista without Aero the title pallets background color is black instead of gray. any way to change that back to gray? I tried all the various "advance" mode in the display properties but nothing worked.

If anyone as a clue about a fix, patch or upgrade to Vista capable that will helpful as well. other wise here comes a Mac.

Flash 8 And Vista
I have bought a new laptop with vista loaded on it. I have installed both flash mx and flash 8. When I go to output my movie(control -enter) both programs will not make the swf??? If I go to the menu and click make movie it will make the swf... Has anybody seen this and know how it fix

Flash 9 And Vista
I have a Flash intro built for a software demo CD. There is a button on the Flash screen to launch the software installation. All works fine under XP and below. With Vista, the link to run the software installation does not work unless I either diable UAC in Vista or browse to the Flash intro, right click and choose "Run as Administrator".

Since this is a software demo, I would prefer the user not have to do anything but click the button to get the software installation to run.

Anyone know of a work around for this?

Vista And Flash
Ok I'm running Windows Vista and have downloaded the lastest version of Flash Player and can not get any sites that use it to work (Youtube, YIM Vista Version, ect..) anybuddy have any clue?

Flash 9 And Vista
Has anyone come across this issue wiht Flash 9 and Vista?

I install flash 9, but all pages with Flash on them say that I need to install Flash 8 or later so its not detecting flash 9 has installed.

If I run the uninstall flash program and then run the flash 9 install it works fine, however as soon as I reboot the machine I am back to square one!!!

Any one got any ideas?

Cheers

Lag In Flash -Vista-
I have Vista and Flash CS3. When I play flash games on the internet, all is fine, but when I try to make a game with sound in it, there is a significant lag time between the time I press a button and the animation (with the sound) occurs. (of course, there is no lag when there is no sound)

It looks like Flash does not export my sound in the swf, and have to get it from my hard drive everytime I press that button. So far, it doesn't seem like the type of sound influences the lag (.wav, .mp3, etc)

Is there an option in the export settings or linkage or anything I am forgetting?

Vista And Flash.
Hi everyone. Alright, I bought a new computer with 64 bit Vista, and it came with Flash (never checked the version number). Everything was fine, it worked as recently as 2 hours ago. Now it's gone. Nothing that requires it will work and, as best as I can tell, it's nowhere in my system files. So, I tried to download it. It tells me that my system is not supported, despite working earlier. So it's missing or hidden and I can't download it again; I would appreciate any help with this. Thank you.

Flash Help And Vista
Hi Folks
I own a Flash MX, that works fine with Windows XP; but with Windows Vista Flash won't show its help pages, written in HTML. The error must be in Flash, Vista, Internet Explorer and/or my AVG antivirus program.
What can I do to make Flash show me its help pages ??
Greetings Torben

Help With Flash On Vista?
I decided to learn how to create captions for flash video, using CS3. I tested this project and it worked fine. I could just double-click on the app or the swf and the captioned video played fine on my Mac. I only had Flash (CS3) on my Mac, so I created the files there.

I then published an exe to move over to my Vista machine. When I double-clicked on the file, it brought up Flash Media Player version 9, but only showed a blank white box. Very frustrating.

After some research, I read that Windows Vista was not compatible with Flash Media Player 9. Only 10.02xxx or later (I forget the exact version - it was long) was supposed to work with Vista. Since CS3 uses version 9 to pack into the executable (PC) or app (Mac) projector files, I thought maybe this was the problem.

So I downloaded the demo of Flash CS4, thinking this version would pack version 10 into the projector and this would solve my problem.

While the CS3 version of my saved flash video project would open in Flash CS4, it would not play when I tested the movie inside Flash CS4. It would just show a skin at the bottom of the video player only (with a play/pause button), and it had moving blue bars on the skin like it couldn't really load either.

I then decided to create the whole flash video with captions from scratch under Flash CS4. This time when I tested the movie in Vista, it worked fine. When I published either the projector exe or the html/swf combination, it worked fine. So proudly (and finally!) I sent the exe over to my boss. But..... you guessed it. The Flash Media Player 10 that started up when the file was double-clicked on her computer just showed a blank white screen again!

Back on my own Vista machine again I moved the exe over to another partition to test to see if there was some dependent directory pathway saved as part of the flash video file. The exe wouldn't play on the other partition! So I thought I was onto something. I then tried moving files that I thought the exe might be dependent on (although isn't the point of a projector to be stand alone?) to the same directory on this partition as the flash exe projector file.

I ended up moving the captions.xml file, the swf files (flash video player skins included), and the html file that the swf file is supposed to be embedded in. NOTHING worked.

I even read that someone with this problem saved his Flash CS4 file as a Flash CS3 file before he published it, and that worked for him. So I tried that too, but with no joy.

So I am totally stumped. Does anyone out there have advice or even a solution?

Much Thanks,
Chuck

Flash And Vista
I've got a Flash home page (www.fcds.org) that uses Actionscript/ASP to load a folder of jpgs into a slideshow. A new AOL/Vista user says the page works EXCEPT for the slideshow. We haven't seen teh problem on Vista "pro" (I imagine she's got Vista Home). Think it's some special security issue with the Flash movie fetching variables from a separate ASP page? I am using the fix it script from last year to get around the "Click on this control to activate" garbage...

Vista And Flash 8
Just got a new laptop. It runs vista and I installed flash 8 on it for design.

Why in the hell does it take 5 seconds to get in and out of a MC with some bs line that expands and contracts? Is this a microsoft ploy to get people annoyed and move over to thier new upcoming product? Anybody experiance this or know how I can turn this feature off?

Vista + Flash
I am sure more people will come across this problem, if you're using aero on vista, flash will be outrageosly slow whenever you try to enter a movie clip, there is a solution and you don't have to turn off aero.

1. Right click on the flash.exe and goto properties
2. Select Comaptability
3. Turn on 'Run this program in compatability mode for:" and select Service pack 2.
4. Turn on "Disable desktop composition" under settings.
5. Hit apply.

Vista Slowing Down My Flash
Hi Guys,

Ive just installed vista and Im having a bit of an issue in flash.

Every time i double click to go into a symbol it takes ages to go into it and the same for getting back out of it to my main scene.

I think it might have something to do with an effect vista has, when you open / close windows its zooms in and out of them. i think for some reason going into a symbol, button etc is trying to do the same sort of effect. this is just a theory and im proberly wrong.

Ive googled the problem and also checked the macromedia support page but had no luck.

I would be really greatful if someone could help out.

Flash Players And MS Vista/IE7?
Does anyone know for certain whether any version of the Flash player is contained within MS Vista/IE7? I have read conflicting opinions but I cannot find any specific reference to Vista/IE7 actually containing the Flash player.

Can anyone clarify the situation?

MS WinXP has the Flash 6 player bundled by default, so I was hoping that MS would do the same with Vista/IE7, just a newer version.

Thanks.

Flash Mx 2004 (On Vista) Help
Ok I have Flash Mx 2004. I made this image which has things I want to become buttons. So I select one, press F8, then make it into a button. I call it button 1. I check the box that says "Export for Actionscript" I press OK.

After I go into the codes. I give it the instance name "button_mc" I go on the left. Click Actions>Movie Controls Goto and Stop. So then
Code:
gotoAndStop(scene);
appears in the box. (I added the word "scene")

So I now make a new scene just putting random shapes to see if it works, if it does I make it what I want it too be. So then I go in Control>Test Movie
But all it does is flip from scene to scene and I pressed nothing!

Now I am stuck! And need help!

Also is it possible to make an object move with a click of your mouse? If so where can I read a tutorial of this?

Flash And Windows Vista
hi know that i've upgrade to windows vista i have some issues with symbols , every time i double click on a graphic , buttom , movie clip symbol , flash takes forever to open is this a bug with vista ? is there a way to fix it any help will be appriciete .

Flash 8 Pro & Vista Ultimate
I have been seeing some very funny issues runny Flash 8 Professional and Windows Vista Ultimate version.

The system responds very slow, generating Movie Clips I am now seeing a strange box appear from the center of the screen and works it way out to the edge before I go into the MovieClip timeline. This may take as long as a minute. And the Flash enviornment seems to operate much slower than before.

Has anyone else seen any of these issues. Is Adobe aware of this. It seems there may be a compatability issue with Windows Vista. As popular as Flash is as a development tool you would think that a patch or and update would have been in the works for the release of Windows Vista.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciate.

Flash 9 On Vista 64bit
After having installed the latest Flash player onto Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition, I am now presented with a popup asking to allow Flash Player to run outside of IE's protected mode. This happens on a huge number of sites and makes it basically impossible to use IE in its default mode with Flash installed. If I check the "don't ask me about this again" it appears to have no effect, as the next time I go back to that site i get the very same popup.

Any one know how to work around this, or if a fix is planned on Adobe's side?

This is annoying to the point of uninstalling Flash...

Flash Installation On Vista
I am trying to use Flash on Windows Vista Ultimate from websites such as YouTube. YouTube directs me to load Flash. Flas tells me that it has downloaded successfully, but YouTube still tells me I haven't got it installed.
Can anyone tell me how to install Flash?

Problems With Flash On Vista
I recently got Windows Vista and have been having problems with it. Right now, the problem is in Flash (7, I think). I assume it's caused by Vista because it didn't happen on XP.
So the problem seems to be that whenever I drag the tools around, Flash closes itself. I've already lost two sessions of work. Since I'm prone to accidentally clicking a few pixels off the tool icon and dragging across the screen, I'm thinking this will happen a lot more. So I guess a solution would be to lock the tools in place, but I can't find the option anywhere. So if anyone knows, it'd be great to let me know. And if anyone knows of a better solution, that'd be wonderful too.

:]

Has anyone tried this? I have DW, Flash, and Fireworks working in Vista Home 32 bit but I want to try the 64 bit version on my production computer (Dell E521 64 bit Athlon). I'm also posting this on the Dreamweaver form. A search of both forums didn't give me an answer and I can't be the first one who is curious. I've read Adobe's PDF on Vista compatibility.

Flash CS3 Installation On Vista
I'm having trouble installing Flash CS3 Professional on my computer. My computer has Vista Home Premium on it and the computer is a HP pavilion with AMD Turion X2 processor.

I was reading other issue blogs and did the following:
>
>
Get command prompt up. It has to be run with admin rights so save yourself some time and run it this way.........Start/programs/accessories/.....right click command prompt and click run as administrator.

Then paste these commands in 1 after the other

regsvr32 vbscript.dll (THEN PRESS ENTER)

and

regsvr32 jscript.dll (AGAIN PRESS ENTER)

After I did that I ran the installer and when I'm on the screen where it asks for my Serial Number at the bottom there is a Next button. WHen I click on the next button the window just disappears.

Has anyone had this problem or now how to fix this?

When I go to Taske manager and click in the processes tab it shows that Flash is running but the window is nowhere on the screen so i can't continue installing it.

Downloading Flash With Vista
Hi,

I'm having a lot of problems with Vista, so I can only assume the OS is at the root of this problem. However, if you've seen this and have a suggestion please let me know.

When I try to download the Flash Player, I get a screen that says "Copy Error" - Setup unable to copy the file Download.dll. The only thing I tried was to move the file to my desktop and retry from that location, and I got the same error screen. Any suggestions?

Vista Users Can't See My Flash
I've got quite a number of clent websites out there with flash headers. Some clients are now telling me that they can't see the flash headers at the top of their websites. If the flash if farther down on the page they can see it. We're using exactly the same code whether the flash is at the top or in the middle of the page.

This is driving me nuts. I've attached the code we're using to play the flash on the following site: www.robertpisa.com. In the code you'll see the following:
<embed src="Util/GetDocument.ashx?docId=1128126"

That file name is an .SWF file that has been uploaded to a separate page on the site. That is the same whether the flash is at the top or in the middle of a page.

These users with the problem are using Vista. Can we do something different in the code to make sure it plays on Vista? Is there something the users with Vista must do to see the flash?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Kathleen
