Can I Pass Log-in Parameters For A Webmail Program, Past CPanel Program?
Hey all.

I only have a working knowledge of actionscript, so sorry for any bad questions.

My personal website uses cPanel for configuration/management and a free webmail program called Horde. Both are great, but accessing them is a pain. I was wondering if there was some way (either through flash or javascript) to bypass the cPanel log-in screen and the horde log-in screen.

For example, currently when I open my webmail program (www.---.com/webmail), Internet Explorer automatically prompts an "enter username and password" box (same prompt for any ftp or secure access through explorer). This acts as an automatic input for cPanel.

If the input is correct, cPanel grants me access to the webmail log-in screen, and all the necessary log-in info (name and password) is already filled out, waiting for me to press enter/submit. If the input on the IE prompt is incorrect, I am taken to the cPanel log-in screen to correct my grave errors. Once I input and submit the correct info, I am again taken to an already-completed Horde log-in screen. In other words, I have to go past two log-in screens and press enter twice.

Note - The Horde webmail program is installed on the server, not my rented account. Therefore I cannot modify or, in general, access any program files. Everything is done through the cPanel program. Moreover, I cannot access the Horde-specific log-in page in any way, I must go through cPanel (or IE's prompt for the cPanel log-in info). However, the given address of the Horde log-in screen is http://www.---.com:2095/horde/index.php. But opening this url takes me to the cPanel/ie login.

I think that there is some way of passing parameters from input in a flash swf to a php/sql program. Can I automatically log into my webmail program, bypassing cPanel? Am I hopeless, worthless ), or is there some magic way to do what I want???

If anyone wants to help but needs more explanation or examples I will be more than glad to assist.

I am a total newbie that wants to create a flash intro and GUI for my band's webpage. The Flashtyper would be awesome if it worked. If I am going to fork out the cash for a program that does what Flashtyper did, I would want it to do a lot of other stuff, too. Would I be able to use all of the effects that are on flashkit.com? i need help, i need to find a "free" or cheap flash program can somone help me? because all i seem to find is Flash mx wich is really expensive give me a link or something as to were i can download the free program that you are directing to me or if you know of no free programs can you direct me to a really cheap program plzzzz!! ....i only have te program SWISH and it's only the free trial!

Me = Complete Flash Newbie. The first problem is, what program should I use to make flash movies/cartoons? It should be a simple program without needing the user to know any Javascript/whatever. I just know basic/mediocre HTML. Please help.

A Flash Program?

I need to buy a flash program but i would prefer a cheap one. Searched the internet and found two interesting programs: Koolmoves and ******* Swf Quicker. Swf quicker looks more familiar after using Macromedia Flash at school.

Is there lots of differencies between these programs? I mean that is Koolmoves better program cause there is no support section for Swf Quicker in these forums? I would like to use actionscripting too but i've understood that both programs are able to handle that.

Do people have experiences about these programs and especialy about Swf Quicker? I've used it a bit and it seems quite ok.

I know very little about making a Flash. I don't even have a program yet. And there's my problem: which program do I download? There are a lot on the Macromedia site. Do I need a really good one right away, or do I start kind of basic?? A little help would be very cool.

Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum; however, I've been using Flash CS3 for a while. I'm good with the design side; however, ActionScript not so much.

I am going to try to build a simple point of sale application within Flash for a business I just purchased. Its a small ice cream business. This application will only be used by me locally on one machine. I'd take customer's orders and customize it (Would you like that supersized ) I'd need totals, and cash back calculations. It would be great to connect to an Access database to keep track of orders and to make my own daily reports. It's not a big business that needs an incredible system; however, anything is better than a simple calculator. Flash might not be the best program to use, yet I'm most comfortable with it.

I've been thinking about it and doing some research. I know there will be lots of variables and functions but I don't even know where to start. Can somebody push me in the right direction? I can't seem to find templates or tutorials online that would help me. I'm thinking I need alter a shopping cart application to meet my needs.

Any ideas? I'd appreciate anything!

What Flash Program Should I Buy?
I've been a web designer for 5 years now, making simple sites for clients. I've used Flash 5 for simple header animations - fades, etc.

I'm growing up a bit and learning some new tricks, and figured it was time to buy a new flash version (Flash5 came out in 2001!).

So what program do a buy? I've looked over the Flash basics on WIKI, I know there's a flash 8 2005 version, and I know CS3 is the new thing.

So basically, I'm going to spend a few hours a night for a month learning one animal inside and out - what should it be? Also, where should I pick it up, and what is a good price?

(I dont want to violate any spamming here, so if that info is bad, feel free to PM it to me - I'm just worried about typing flash into ebay, and ending up buying a classroom program for $900 from some site when I should be buying another program from less, and I really don't know what place to buy from)

Hi, I'm trying to find a flash programmer/compiler for my son. He bought the book "Beginning Flash Game Programming for Dummies" which requires Flash MX 2004. All of the programs i can find are several hundred dollars. Is there a shareware program he can use at least to begin learning?? thanks

Run Program Flash MX
OK I am a totaly newby to Flash so I have probably done something stupid.

I am trying to create a menu to launch programs using flash mx. I have created movie with 4 buttons, and I can get the buttons to do various thing in the up, over, hit etc. frames. But when I try to add an action like fscommand the action editor box has 'this selection cannot have actions applied to it. What am I doing wrong?

Step by step instructions would be gratly appreciated.

Flash Program
I want to make a CD that when I put it on the computer it plays my Flash picture viewer. How can I do that? Export movie as a Windows Projector (.exe) then what? And how can I make it full screen without distorting the images? Also once it's full screen how can I make a "close window" for it?

Does anyone has a sample template for this? OR at least be able to answer those questions.

Flash Program Help.
My Flash program is like... dead?

I try to start it and the program makes it to 'loading user profile'; then it just never starts up. I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling it but that didn't do anything.

If anyone has any ideas it'd be really helpful because as of right now I can't use Flash. :(

Flash Program?
I have Flash MX and I just purchased a Flash template. When I open it up I get an error saying Unexpected File Format.

I went to the properties of the file and it says it opens with Flash 6.0 r25.

Problem With Flash Program Itself
Hey folks, okay, here's the problem:

Whenever I move anything (i don't mean motion tween, this is within the development stage), my movements lag like crazy. It feels like I'm on a 133 mhz p1 with 64 megs of RAM.

Here are my comp's specs: 1 gig Tbird chip, 512 MB of pc133 RAM, ati radeon 32 meg, 19" monitor runnin 1280x1024.

I think it started happening when I changed my vid card from a 4 meg POS to the ATI, but I'm not sure.

Any ideas oh flash gurus?

Best Drawing Program For Flash
Would appreciate some opinions on the best drawing program for creating some cartoon images, objects, backgrounds etc. for Flash projects.
I've used the drawing features of Flash 5 to good effect with a Wacom tablet, but would like to see if something like Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand or ?? would produce even better/fancier/sharper drawings.

I realize Photoshop 6 would be ideal, but budget won't stretch that far.

A Paint Like Program In Flash
I am trying to figure out how to draw in a Flash movie while it is actually running.

Essentially i just want to have a drawing tool (like the pencil tool in Photoshop or even MS Paint).

Ive tried duplicating a dot whenever hte mouse moves and setting it to the location of the mouse, but that creats a TON of instances and really slows the movie down. It doesnt even make smooth lines because hwen you move the mouse too fast the dots start to skip.

Flash Is Such A Naughty Program
A couple of questions you people might help with.
I've noticed that within a couple of my movies when a button is deactivated, and when the mouse isn't moved, the cursor remains in its 'button mode' ie a pointer. Why, and is there a way of mending this.

Also, having noticed that within Flash MX the tell target command is now deprecated, I wondered what the alternative was? I've looked in the actionscript dictionary, but it just mumbles something about dot-notation.

Lastly, now that call action is frowned upon, what is the alternative? Once again the AS dictionary is not helpful. If it's decided that a function is ill-advised then whatever, who cares, as long as an alternative means is fully explained.

Mustn't grumble though- Flash is still the naughtiest ever proggy when it comes to keeping me up at night!

Launching Program From Flash
i'm having problems trying to launch a program from flash MX. ideally, i want to be able to launch Word, Powerpoint, etc locally from my machine using a projector file. i went by this tutorial and followed it to a T:

result: nothing happens. including the DOS pop-up does not open or attempt to start. upon further testing, i found this programming works for a flash 5 .exe but not an MX.exe.

i've tried seraching this site for an updated solution. an someone help me "update" this code for MX? or explain what i'm doing wrong this time around?

Program Launcher In Flash.. HELP
Hi,

I got this weird idea to make a programs browser in flash. Basically i have a whole bunch of diff little programs and wanted to make an uniform menu in flash that will load a bunch of variables from a file (names, paths to files, paths to icons. etc) and then display them along with a description or something and then execute them from flash via the FS command "exec".

Well thats all nice and it works fine after an hour of tinkering. THe variables get loaded fine, integers go to integers and so on.. The buttons align and duplicate as many times as there are items in the correct place and display the correct names (programs) and all the links and variables get assinged to correct mc's

the only problem is that the FS command exec will not work. I have tried almost everything from putting the .exe file in the same dir to giving it a direct link to trying to go through a variable but nothing seems to work.

After doing a bit of reading found out that you have to make a folder called fscommands in the same level as the projector file and put all the files you want executed in there. This seems horrible because then i might as well make a folder on my desktop with a whole bunch of shortcuts.

My questions are

1. is there a diff way of doing this... ?

2. will a path to a shortcut of a program work? (i.e. instead of directly to a .exe)

P.S. i am using flash MX but have my flash 5 lying around somewhere. Would it be better to use flash 5, or export to flash 5 from MX?

thanks a lot for any help. This is just for fun and yeah i could make a folder with a bunch of organized shortcuts but then i woudlnt know if this was possible plus it wouldn't be nearly as hard.

In the end i want to have one file on my desktop that when clicked (a projector) would generate a menu of all my stuff. Everything works but the exec commands once more. Thanks in advance!

Call To Another Program With Flash
Is it possible to have flash contact and receive data from another program. For instance I am currently running flash on a server and it is calling a php or aspx page to query and send the info back to the app. Can you do this also with, for instance and executable file. Maybe written in VB or java or something? What I want to do is allow for users to download a small app that will run locally without calls to the server. Any ideas, or suggestions?

Program Launching W/ Flash MX
I have searched for the answer and found some that have helped. Now the problem is when clicking on the button, there is no execution of the program.
First I,
1) Made a button symbol and dragged it onto the stage.
2) Highlighted the button and added the action script needed.
Here is the action script I am using:

(I have also used restore.bat and no change it solving the problem.)
I have the published flash file in a folder labeled "desktop". Within that folder I have another folder labeled "fscommand". According to what I have read, when using the fscommand, the "desired" executable needs to be in the fscommand folder. I have placed the restore.vbs in the fscommand folder and still no execution is being performed. Also have placed it in the desktop folder and still no progress. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is My Flash MX Program Damaged?
I have built a number of movies. The first few movies I did I could publish in Quicktime. Now I can't even publish a virtually empty new Flash movie in Quicktime, it says it doesn't have "handler for this type of Flash movie."

I also had somebody have a problem seeing a .swf I created recently, it had an improper "media file" or something. I'm running more tests to see if I'm really screwed.

I recently installed, and just uninstalled, SwishPowerFX.

Can any kind soul please lend me some advice?

I Hate The New Flash Program
I just got flash mx 2004, and I started building my site as normal. I have it all planned out, which button does what, where it goes, and so on. However, when I tested my flash just to make sure everything was in order, the output popped up with errors for all of my buttons. I've been reading a flash mx book to try and figure this problem out, but there is nothing in here about button navigation within a flash. Please download this file and see what I'm talking about, if you think you can help.

Is it possible to run an .exe program stored on someone's computer through flash? If so, how would you go about doing this? I'm interested in any suggestions you might have. What I need to do is have a button in a flash movie that will open a program on the user's desktop. Note: Copyright and patents are different. Technically, copyrights really don't apply to the code (even though everyone puts a copyright notice in their code). Copyright is more about graphical design.

I want to protect my code and the way the flash application interacts.

So, obviously Flash is patented but can I patent an app i made in Flash?

Do i have to write it in proprietary code and not use flash to be able to patent it?

If i wrote it in C++ isn't that the same as writing my app in Flash?
