Flash Randomly Stopped Working
I have been using Flash MX 2004 for a while now, and it randomly stopped workin on my login account, I am currently a poweruser, and it wont load up, but when the admin logs on it works fine, I now need the Admin password eveytiem I need to use flash.

What setting can be changed that will allow me to use flash, without having to sign in as admin all the time???

Flash Stopped Working In IE 7
After a recent Windows update Flash has stopped working in IE 7 on XP on my pc, I'm just getting a white area where the Flash movie should be and a 'Movie not loaded...' menu option.

Anyone else seeing this or have heard of a fix for this?

The usual install the latest versions of Flash and IE made no difference.

Flash Stopped Working On Mac
Hi There,

On this site http://www.pparnold.com I have used flash for two things.

1) As a dynamic header
2) As a jukebox to play songs (click on speaker icon).

Both are working fine in IE and FF on Windows and used to work fine on Mac's but now they don't.

That is - unless you upgrade to the latest version of Flash - then it works again.

I have searched online and have not been able to see anyone with similar problems - so I thought I would give this a try.

It worked on a mac until Firefox was installed - then it stopped working for both Safari and Firefox

I have inserted the flash header with javascript to prevent the "click here to activate" in IE - and for some reason I think this could be the culprit.

Flash CS4 Logtransport Stopped Working
Hi, Just started using CS4 and I get a message: "LogTransport has stopped working" every few minutes. Vista then says it is closing the application. No idea what logtransport does but when vista closes it, there doesn't seem to be any visible affect on the IDE.

I can't spot any pattern to it yet although it only seems to happen when I am doing something in Flash. I am on Vista x64. Anyone else had this or got any idea how to fix (one other case reported on Kirupa).

[F8] I Think I Broke Flash 8? (Ctrl+Alt+2 Stopped Working)
Oh my goodness what have I done? A while back I was working on something and suddenly the "center horizontally" and "center vertically" options which I use A LOT just stopped working. Not just the shortcuts (ctrl+alt+2 and ctrl+alt+5) but actually choosing it from the modify>align menu doesn't work either. I've closed Flash and reopened it dozens of times, and my computer has been shut down and restarted and it still has this problem. Did I somehow manage to "turn off" the centering feature? Please help if you can!

UPDATE: Nevermind everybody. It's fine. I did a search and found someone else with the same problem a while ago. I'm okay! Can I delete my own posts? I don't see the option anymore. Kill this thread please.

Flash CS3 - Shape Tweens Stopped Working..
Hello All.

Working on a rather large flash file, but am somewhat a newb .

I have been using shape tween to create a bunch of effects and now the shape tween function has completely stopped working?

I create a shape on keyframe say 60 and create a keyframe on frame 90 and delete the first shape and make a new one...

right click - create shape tween and nothing happens on layers 61-89?

This is the process i have used to create every other tween i have in the file and it hasn't been a problem but now it won't do it no matter what I do.

I'm guessing i've hit some kind of option or something?

For Some Reason My Flash Movies Stopped Working
If you check out the video section of my website at http://www.jonbarron.org/video/video.php and try clicking on any of those videos (which are videos I made in Flash 8 by the way) you will notice that none of them ever load. I tried them in IE, Firefox, and Safari and in Safari they don't load the first time but if you refresh the page they load just fine. The funny thing is that in IE they don't load AT ALL even if you refresh the page.

The even funnier thing is that last week ALL of these videos loaded fine in every single browser out there. Since then I haven't touched a single one of these pages so I'm wondering what in the heck could be going on here. Any ideas guys?

Flash Smart Preloader Stopped Working
Hi guys

I have created a preloader that can be dropped into any movie and it will pop up with a bar (named barInstance which is 96 pxls wide - i tried using the explicit number to see if it was that) that goes from 0% to 100% and advances the playhead on to the next frame in the parent movie.

I've used it on a couple of other projects and it was working fine with this project but it suddenly stopped working. I've checked the code over and it's fine as far as i can see (i've included it below) but when i checked the bandwidth profiler, the movie seems to load before the preloader. The preloader is on frame 1 at the bottom of the layer stack and the publish settings are set to load from the bottom up.

Installed Flash Player 6 -> Site Stopped Working
Hi,

I have this flash movie which uses LoadVariables to load some data into a movie clip.

After the command has been executed, the movie sits in a loop waiting for one of the incoming variables to trip it.

When this has happened, the movie moves to a different frame and displays the variables.

However, with the Flash Player 6, this rarely happens.

Instead, the loop trips and none of the variables are visible. If one moves to the next frame and back the variables then appear as they should.

Incidentally, the variable which trips the loop is the very last variable written to the page requested with LoadVariables.

Also, this page is requested using https.

Adobe Flash CS Has Stopped Working On Message On Vista
I'm Working on a project for over a month now and suddenly I get a Message from Vista:

"Adobe Flash CS has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and Notify you if a solution is available."

After restarting I get the same message.
I tried a older version of my project file....and strange enough I get the same message.
I tried the same FLA on my older XP machine and It works just fine.
So I tried several things to fix this but this irritating message won't go away!
Also when I start a new project, the message appears but only after I saved the file?

Tried: Running in XP compatible mode, Administrator mode, Switch off UAC and DES, installed Flash again...and some other stuff.

Vista just kills flash every time..Switching back from Vista to XP, would have been an option but thats an other story ;)

If anybode can help me out It would be great!

HELP .. Php Stopped Working
Hi, I have had such a bad week with my hosting and now my php has stopped working! I have changed from a linux server to a windows one because apparently only the windows plan supports virtual www. prefixes (long story) Anyway this finally happened last night, when I checked everything this morning my php mailer has stopped working. by that, it still sends the email, but it doesnt attach the informatiion from my sendAndLoad, but sends a blank email and returns a successful echo. Previously it worked fine so I wonder if I am better off using another script .. if so, what would you recomend, and how would I build a mailer with it?

SWF Stopped Working
I was making updates to this site for a client. Just the graphics of the home page, nothing to do with the Flash part of it. I never opened the Flash file or moved anything. After I uploaded the revised files, the swf movie in the bottom left corner that scrolls with images is no longer working. It still scrolls but the viewer was previously able to click on each image and see it pop up in a new smaller window. I have opened the Flash file and the actions are still there for each image to pop up. I did not set this up. It was created by another designer and I am still pretty new to Flash. I have posted the old home page, the new home page and a link to the Flash file. PLEASE HELP!

F6 Key Stopped Working
anyone ever have this happen to them in CS3 on a MacPro OSX10.5?

One day f6 just stopped working, and it's getting really annoying to not be able to create keyframes with it. Funny enough though, Shift F6 DOES work to get rid of key frames.....

I THINK i have tried about everything....
-Reset Keyboard shotcuts...
-Reassign F6 to create keyframe.(wont even enter into the field when i hit the key....ALL other functions keys DO however.)
- Switched Keyboards..i use a logitech wireless regularly, and have reinstalled drivers,(have yet to try older drivers), but i plugged in my apple keyboard with no avail.
- tried assigning f6 to my cintiq buttons specifically for flash
- deleted flash preferences
- uninstalled and reinstalled Flash...
- made sure my language prefs were set to US....

other than that i dunno what else to do....any suggestions...other than to just get used to not having it? :)

Flash Stopped "whitewashing" Backrgound When Working On Symbols
It's a bit hard to explain but usually when one enters a symbol to work on it, the rest of the scene (i.e. everythin except this particular symbol) is covered with a whitewashed layer (white screen with an alpha of about 50%).
My Program stopped doing this, and it is very difficult to work not being able to distinguish what is in the symbol and what not. I don't think it's the settings because if, for example, I open and old file and work on it, it's fine as far as I can tell. Anybody knows what's going on? Thanks a lot!

Scrollbox Stopped Working
I had a scrollbox that scrolled when the user passed the mouse over the "up" and "down" buttons.
But now I made a preloader and put it in a different scene than the scrollbox, so that when the movie is loaded it would call the other scene (the one with the scrollbox), it works until this point, but my scrollbox doesn't work anymore.....
All other pages in the site in which i did this same preloader thing, don't work anymore...

Button Stopped Working.....PLEASE HELP
I've got a button with a print function on it so that when somebody clicks it part of the movie disappears and other parts are enlarged and moved (I used _root.movieclipname._alpha = 0; _root.movieclipname._xscale = 140; _root.movieclipname._yscale = 140; _root.movieclipname._x = 400; _root.movieclipname._y = 255; to do this). This works perfectly. I then assigned #p to one frame and then on the next frame (which contains nothing but a bounding box to show the area to be printed) I assigned the label of #b. Now the area I want printed fills the page, but none of the other functions assigned to the print button work. What can I do to change this and make them work again?

I followed Flash's instructions on printing and they said that I should put the #b label on the frame next to the one with the #p label. This extends that layer one frame, but none of the others are extended. I did try extending them all, but for some reason nothing was visiable. I've also tried outting the #b label on another layer so that it's on the same frame as #p, but then it didn't work at all.

Keypress Stopped Working
Hi,

I have a keypress that did work fine but has stopped working for some reason. If I cut all the objects and actionscripts and paste them into a new file it seams to work ok. Any ideas why this is?

My Forms Stopped Working.
Hello,

This morning I got an email from my contact form.
The email came blank. The information the user filled out didn't come through.

I did a test myself and it came out blank too.
I did a test on my other forms and they came blank too.

I did a test my shopping cart and I get no emails at all from the cart.

So I emailed my hosting and so far they haven't been able to figure out what the problem is.

So I signed up with another hosting to see if it does the same thing. And to my surprise, it did the same thing. Blank form.

I have not touched the forms so no changes has been done to them.

Any one has a clue or having the same problem?

GetURL Stopped Working?
I'm not sure what changed, since the last week or so, my getURL buttons stopped workign completely .. on both IE6 and FF under windows...

now this is strange, the links work if i run the swf in flash player (or test inside flash pro 8) but when i put it into an html page in any browser it doesnt work anymore.. it seems like something to do with local/network security.. but i havent a clue what changed and why! I repeat, this sort of linking worked just fine until a week or two or so ago..

I have here just a sample button i made and the published html from flash pro 8.. i hope some1 can look at it and see what's changed and why it doesnt work from html mode but does from raw swf...

Buttons Stopped Working?
Hey all.. I made some buttons in flash for a menu, gave them all some action script to get them to do stuff, and they were all working fine. I did originally have all the buttons on the same layer as each other, but then decided to animate them! So I placed each one onto its own layer, and quickly tested the fla, Nothing!! It all just stopped working, all except the home button which is also on its own layer, and works just how it should. Has anyone got any ideas why this might occur? Cheers all

My Buttons Just Stopped Working
hey guys!

im 95% thru my boss' website and all my buttons have just stopped working...
theyre movie clips btw and not 'buttons'

They were working fine when i added in a new "intro" scene to the movie. But as soon as i added a third "preloader" scene to my movie my buttons stopped working...ill post the movie if needed but if anyone has any quick fixes or ideas they would be much appreciated.

"Flash 8 Has Stopped Working" Error
When I had Windows XP Pro, flash 8 ran just fine. I installed vista a few months ago and hadn't opened Flash 8 in a while. Today I decided to use it and it showed me an error which said "Flash 8 has stopped working" Windows vista is looking for a solution. I tried compatibility for windows xp sp2 and nothing. I tried reinstalling it 4 times (through the trial I had lost the cd) and nothing happened. I tried previous versions of flash and still nothing. Please will someone help me? I don't know what to do.

My Trial Version Has Stopped Working
Not that I am pissed with Macromedia but I think that if they have an issue with virus software and the installs of their 30 day trials they should post it... I installed this morn at 9:00am west coast time and had used the download for all of 10 mins when I had to leave to head to my next location... brought my laptop with me with the trail on it... and when I started the system back up the download told me it had expired... I know that we have Macromedia people on this board and would like them to tell me why their CS people (customer service) do not have the "tool" to fix this and also why something is not stated on the macromedia support site? I would really like a reply please... feel free to email me also...

Actionscript Inexplicably Stopped Working
i'ce created a movie split it into different movie clips on different layers, with this at the end of each movie:

It was working fine, but then suddenly stopped working without me actually doing anything to it!!! When testing the movie this comes up in the pop up box thingy:

could anyone please help - it's driving me mad!

Button Actions Stopped Working
I'm sure this is a simple problem for most of you, but I can't figure it out.

I've created an online brochure in Flash, with buttons that take you to the next page by loading another movie.

The client decided he wanted green 3-D buttons instead of the ones I used, so I swapped them out.

I didn't modify the button instance; I modified the actual button in the library. As a result, all of the instances of that button became green buttons.

Now the Actionscript is applied to each instance, not to the actual button. After the buttons were changed, I confirmed that the Actionscript was still applied. Everything seems the same when I compare my original files with the revised ones, but now the buttons no longer function. Can someone enlighten me? Thanks!

Code Recently Stopped Working
i am a web developer/coder and was asked to come up with a flash file that will display a different logo depending on the incoming url. The url value is passed to the file and then an if/else script selects the logo display.

frame 1 has this:

frame 3 has the logo specifically for license-europe

if the url http://www.license-europe.com/ is entered no logo displays. however, a simple shift-refresh will cause the movie to show properly. once the logo image is cached it works properly every time. if i clear the browser cache and try again, it's back to the problem. the same acts for the default display for http://www.licensemag.com/.

this used to work back in the spring and only last week it was brought to my attention that it no longer does.

[MX] My Scrollable Text Stopped Working
I am mystified; the scrollable text I set up and had working, flash MX file attached, has stopped working. I'm sure it must be a very simple thing that's gone wrong. but I can't work out what exactly. Can somebody PLEASE help?

[F8] Preloader Stopped Working. Suggestions?
I have a preloader on my site, and during first run-through, it worked fine. now, after months of editing, and the site ready to go live, I've noticed it doesn't really work anymore. my swf is 1.7MB, so I kinda need the preloader to work - or I get a black screen.

here's my code. it's placed inside a clip on frame one of the clip, also on frame one of the root timeline:

[F8] Navigation Buttons Stopped Working
S.O.S. save our site.
I am having a problem with the navigation on my site. All the buttons are loaded into the main flash file, Main.swf, as a seperate movie, HeaderNav.swf. Also this same .swf file, HeaderNav.swf, is loaded into a movie called Header.swf. Now the buttons in HeaderNav.swf will not navigate to a new page from the Main.swf file. Now if I load a page with the Header.swf file the HeaderNav.swf file works? So from the home page the buttons will not work but from an internal page on the site the buttons do work? Same SWF file just loaded into two different swf files. Also once the HeaderNav.swf file is loaded once from the internal pages then the nav on the home page starts working?

Music Stopped Working Once In A Browser
Has anyone had this problem.

My music works fine when its NOT in a browser. But if I preview it through dreamweaver it works, but not if opened online or when you open a browser from your HD./

NetStream.onMetaData Stopped Working
Hi
I think I have stumbled on a flash anomaly.
I have the regular flash video code that I have been using for years and now suddenly one essential part of code stopped working -

netStream.onMetaData = function(obj) {
trace("metaData") // nothing
n = obj.duration;
framer.onEnterFrame = playhead
};

onMetaData function is not called however the video file plays, netStream.onStatus works.
I use Flash 8 video(On2).
What could be the problem? Faulty video file?

Forms Stopped Working When Upgraded To Fv8

I have been searching for days on a fix for this simple problem. When I switched to Flash 8 I redesigned my site and have lost the functionality of my contact form. I know you guys get this question all the time - I've read all the post and applied the answers but to no avail. I keep getting blank emails from my form.

I was using simple php:

SWF Files Stopped Working Flash8

I have uploaded my swf file to the web. It is a video clip . Some of the swf loads on the web (the text part) when I click a button, to load it, but the video does not show ? see page 2 of link below

Scale Mode Stopped Working In AS3?
I put in the time line some AS code:

var yOffset=stage.stageHeight;
stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
yOffset=(yOffset-stage.stageHeight)/2;

Swf window on website is bigger then document size. Value of yOffset is
always 0. Similar construction used in AS2:

var yOffset=Stage.height;
Sage.scaleMode = "noScale";
yOffset=(yOffset-Stage.height)/2;

works fine and calculates how many pixels content of SWF must be shifted in
no scale mode when player window differs from document window.

Is it a bug? How to retreive information about original document size under
AS3?
