Flash :: Flash Shuts Down After Start Up Screen

Flash MX Shuts Down...
Hey Folks,

I ran into a serious problem today. Flash MX 2004 Pro
shuts down every time I click on the text "Tools" in the
tool bar (the one with the pan/zoom, line/polygon draw,
and other such tools). It only does this when the tool
pallet is docked - it does not do it when the pallet is
NOT docked.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled twice. I don't know what
else to do (besides keeping the tool bar undocked). Any
help is greatly appreciated.

i got a problem here..... i've done a flash animation, i try to render, near the end, FLash MX just shuts down with no notice! WHY IS THIS. its driving me crazy.. please help. it sounds like some kind of bug in my program. this never used to happen before>?!

hi,

i've encountered a problem using transform. i've got a simple fla file with 2 mcs, a bitmap and a button. when trying to increase the size of a mc by streching it using transform, i cannot add anything to the main scene, since adding something else simply shuts down flash (both 5 and mx). found a way around it but it bugs da hell outta me.... reinstalling flash or renaming the file did not do the trick...

i've uploaded the fla to my site, and i'd appreciate any help on the matter...

Macromedia Flash Shuts Down Computer?
Hello and what the????

I am using an old Dell notebook - pentium 3- I upped the RAM to 384mb and swiped the old 12gig HD for a 40gig.  It's a bit bulky but it can hold it's own now.

I just tried to watch "The Meatrix" - quite funny- u should watch it- on this 'puter but after I installed Macromedia Flash for my Firefox browser and tried to view it my screen went BLANK and I had to do a hard restart.

Any ideas as to what iz happening here?

Start Dial-up Screen
Is there a way to start up the dial-up connection for go online in flash MX. Can you do it with fscommand "exec"? Or do you need to create a *.bat file or something. I saw on the web the following script.

Help With Bring Up Menu (start Screen)
I'm just learning flash and practicing with a tut. to make a simple player move and shoot, i'm using CS3,

the stuff i did so far works, i have 3 layers, spaceship laser and enemy.
when i run the game in preview the space ship layer opens and i can play.

what i need help with is i want to put a front screen up with a play button. so when i click the button the game starts
i have the logo and the button made.
but i can't get that screen to come up first. (Before The Spaceship Layer)
everything i try always brings the game up first.

should i have built the menu first then the game ?
or is there a way to get the menu to come up first then click the button to play.

Ive looked and i can't find a game tutorial that also shows how to make the menu.

Full Screen Mode On Start Up
i want to enable full screen mode automatically when i play the swf file using adobe flash player (not embing it in the web page, just by running the adobe flash player alone), without select the 'view full screen' option

is it possible?

didnt quite know how to describe it in a few words in the title but basically i have a menu that i created using movie clips but when i leave it and click off the menu on the screen i want the menu to go which i have the code for... but is there a code where you can click anywhere on screen to appy the code?

an example is when you click the start menu on windows and then you click somewhere else on screen and the start menu goes back.

I have a few apps that I need to have reset to the start screen if idle for 2 minutes.
meaning that if the apps is not interactived with at all, at any point in the app in the 2 min window. It will send the application back to it's start screen. I have no idea how to go about this. I'm open to any suggestions.

Drop Down Menu Shuts Music Off
Movie Clip (Men1) controls the drop down menu items that send users to next page. Basic sound (2 frame on/off) movie clip gets turned off when menu items are hit. If there is not enough info in my lame description! Try:

[CS3] CS3 Shuts Down When Actions Panel Is Opened

Hi,
I created a document with several layers, each with motion tweens. When I try to add an action to one of the layers by adding an actions layer then trying to open the actions window to write an action, the program shuts down. The moment I click 'Actions' in the menu, it shuts down instead of opening the window.
I thought I'd just copy all the layers and paste them into a new file in case there was a glitch in the old file, but I can't figure out how to do that either. It just pastes the image showing on the stage instead of the layers.
I can't seem to find the right info to resolve this in the help files or adobe's site.

Ie7 Loadmovie Loading Jpg And A Slow Server Problem That Shuts Down Domain For Client
The flash movie does a createnewmovieclip followed by a movie.loadMovie on a jpg image. Most of the time the image loads up and there are no issues, but sometimes this server is slow to respond and for a time there is no image. If you wait about a minute to two minutes the image will load up, but if in that period of time the user gives up and closes the movie its all over with, the root domain will not deliver any further content to that client. In order for the user to see anything from that domain again they must close out ALL instances of IE first and then start over.

This does not seem to happen with firefox or safari ever. Often the image might not load right away, but closing the movie early is not an issue.

I'm thinking i need to rewrite my loadMovies to detect if they haven't loaded in after a few seconds and then call the loadMovie again, or something along those lines but looking for suggestions from people who have seen this and dealt with it.

In case you haven't read my intro topic. i am working on an online retail website. It is relatively old and only displays 1 picture of the shoe. I have looked around other websites and some appear to have a flash script, that enables the user to click on the picture and make a grayish box appear in the screen. This small box has thumbnails of the images which can be clicked to be enlarged and also the ability to zoom in a fair amount and move around the picture. Below are some screen shots i have found. Any ideas or suggestions would be very much appreciated

^ This is one i found on a site.. its flash and allows you to click on the smaller thumbnails to bring it to the top. also allows you to zoom in.

Full Screen Flash Projector Reverts To Windowed When Exiting Screen Saver
I've created a flash projector that displays a companies product catalog on a 50" touch screen plasma display.
It looks great and plays great if I launch the projector and force it to full screen.
However, since this is a plasma, screen burn in is a major issue to contend with.
I've set the Windows screensaver to activate after one minute of inactivity.
The problem is that when the screensaver is exited by a touch, the flash projector that was running in full screen mode is now back in windowed mode so CTRL-F has to be hit to force it to full screen again.
This isn't good.
So, I guess my question is two-fold:
Is it possible to programatically force the projector to full screen mode so that no user intervention is required? (fscommand works on the first launch, but when the screensaver kicks in, all bets are off.)
And/Or
How would I go about creating a timer to activate an internal screensaver and insert it into the actionscript for the XML gallery?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Flash Presentation On 16:9 Screen Or A Wide Screen Plasma Tv
Hi Gang,

I am new to the forum, so big hello to all your hot flash gurus!

I have been given a project where I need to create a flash site, that will be played on full screen on any computer.

However, they also would like to play it on a wide screen tv, like a plasma screen.

When it comes to proportions I am not sure where I should begin.

For example, if I begin the site for a website I could start with 800 x 600, 1024 x 768 these all being the 4:3

If the site works full screen on 4:3 then thats great and thats my goal, but I want to make sure that when I play the flash site on the WIDESCREEN plasma, it doesnt distort.

what I am hoping will happen is that when we run the projector file, the site simple opens, but the box where the site compotents are, simply sits in the middle and there are spaces on the right and left, where its been centred inside the widescreen display.

The second concern is pixel size, I know that the shape of pixels are different on TV screens, to computer monitors, do I need to worry about this? or will the computer that we play the Flash projector file through, on to the PLASMA just sort all that out, as if I was playing the site on a normal computer screen.

How To Make Flash Screen Saver Always Fit Screen?

i'm trying to make a screen saver just for the pleasure of myself and a few close friends in my team. i've searched everywhere but have not found an answer to the following problem. although i use this command:

in the first frame of my movie, the screen saver does not fit the screen all around as it should. yes, it does scale to a certain extent, but only according to the dimensions of the original fla, that is, it'll stretch only horizontally or vertically until the stage limit leaving a gap either to the top or sides... and this won't do as my friends have different stage dimensions as me.
so. can someone please tell me what i'm missing? i'm using flashforge to produce the .scr. i've tried with trial versions of a couple of similar converters, but the problem persists. must be something with my .fla settings.

The problem I have is that I designed a website 800x600 (page size).

When I publish the website in 800x600 screen resolution the website doesn't fit in the whole page (it stretches).
I then designed the website taking up half of the 800x600 page and published it. It viewed full screen on 800x600 screen resolution only and on other screen resolutions it shrinked.

Rewind, Pause, And Start Start Buttons For Base Movie And External Mov

I'm lost...

I have a base movie that contains three buttons (Rewind, Pause, and Start)

The code for the rewind button that sends the base movie to frame 2 which is set to play and then reloads the external movie (images/4_24.swf). works perfectly and is shown below.

Start And Stop Streaming Sounds (start Stopping Currently Playing)
Hi there

I am novice user of flash and have no real AS experience.

What I want to do is..

I have 18 songs from an album and have taken 30 sec from each and down sampled them ready for flash.

I want to be able preview them all from one flash file.
I will be streaming the songs in, so the initial download time is minimal.

With 18 start stop buttons for each one, but because customers are lazy, they are likely just going to click the next play button for the next preview, so I need the play buttons to stop 'this' preview before playing the next with stop control also being a stop control for those who have had enough or are well behaved browsers : )

I hope this makes sense and look forward to hearing from someone.

Flash Wont Start, Quicktime Wont Start And Wont Uninstall
Quicktime will not run.
I have tried to uninstall quicktime v 7.1.5 and recieve the msg fatal error during installation.
When I try to run flash 8 it crashes with no error message.

I think it is a problem with Itunes and quicktime conflicting with flash. I require flash and use it frequently am not so keen on itunes yet i'd like to use my ipod.

If anyone can help, I'd be verry appreciative.

Full Screen Flash. No Toolbars, Controllers, Just The Flash Page On Full Screen - How
Ive seen this on DVD Roms, Multimedia Roms, Presentation Cds, etc.

People insert their DVD or CDs of their Flash and it plays automatically and at Full screen. There's no Controllers or anything except the one you make in the Flash itself.

There's no browser either. Its like watching a DVD where all you see is just the movie.

Anyone know exactly what this method is called and any tutorials or samples on how to do this with your Flash page.

FLV Start Time? Can I Start It Playing 2 Secs In?
Is there a way with actionscript to tell an FLV to start playing 2 seconds into the video. What I have is an FLV that has 2 seconds of black at the beginning, but I don't want that to play.

Or if anyone knows a way to re-encode an flv so that I can get rid of the 1st 2 seconds. I've tried re-encoding it with Riva Encoder but it just gets all screwed up. And the Flash encoder won't even let me add it to the que. Any help would be appreciated.

Sound Start Doesn't Start
I've been experiencing this problem. Sound.start() doesn't always start. A lot of times, it does, sometimes, it doesn't start for me. Sometimes it happens even after sound load has just finished. Has anyone experienced the same? any suggestions?

Flash Won't Start
My copy of Flash MX wont start.
When I click on its short cut the splash screen appears but it never goes further than that.
It used to work fine.
Occasionally it will start but most times it doesnt.
I have tried Flash 5 also and that does the same thing.

Is there a fix for this?

I have a small program done in flash. It has a inventory of items that are swf movies pulled into emty movies. Pretty basic cept for the masking. I am using Flash mx. My question is this.

I would like to be able to create a text file that would be able to assign a certain number to each swf file. I would like to make this a option that can be changed easly. Can this be done in Flash or do I need outside programing assistance. If it can be done in Flash where would i start? and if not where would i start?

Somebody told me a while back before I had time to start this that it was xml coding? Outside of flash I kinda get lost.

Flash Will Not Start
After upgrading to a new computer with Vista Home Premium, I have tried to install a trial of Flash CS3. Installing the trial worked fine on my old computer with XP, and Flash CS3 installed without any errors on this computer. However, when I double click to start Flash, the cursor changes to loading for around 3 seconds, then stops. Flash.exe shows up in the Task Manager, but it is not on the desktop or task bar. I've tried reinstalling and that hasn't fixed it. Has anybody got any suggestions?
