Flash :: Flash Vs Fireworks

I can't figure this out...i hope it's possible tho. I have a Web site i'm working on and i've got a top frame and a main frame. The top frame will have the buttons. I made an amazing little 3D thing in Fireworks as the Menu. It is something that is impossible to do in Flash 5. I want to export it and import it into Flash 5 as VECTORS. The only way i can think to do it is export it as a .gif and that is too big! i am big on having small files that load quickly. that is why i prefer to work with Vectors. I tried to export it as a .swf but when i import it, it loses ALL of the quality 3D things i did to it. It's just plain. Is it possible to do this? or will i need to export it from Fireworks as a .gif?

Fireworks And Flash MX
Does anyone else here use Fireworks? I have Fireworks MX, and it worked great with making graphics for my work with Flash 5, but in the last couple of days i got Flash MX and Firworks wont work with it. Everytime I try to copy something from Fireworks MX to Flash MX, it crashes Flash. But Flash MX works fine with other programs such as Photoshop or Paint.

Could this mean there is a problem with my Flash MX and .PNG files?

If anyone else has experienced this, or a similar problem, and might know what the answer could be, please reply to this message.

When i use a fireworks image map at the top of my page with several drop down menus, and i have 3 flash movies in the middle. why is it when i rollover the menus at the top and they drop down parts of the menu become blind right over the flash movies?

I have made some pictures on Flash. From the .fla file, i save them as a jpeg or jpg.
However, when i look at them in Flash all is crystal clear. But when i open the picture save as Jpg...all is blurry and it all looks like a painting where some water has been spilled on.

Anyone have any ideas my graphics look terrible when i have exported them from Fireworks and imported them into Flash.

i use the options settings and have tried using them all, but my graphics still look bad. When i go to publish the Flash file the graphics look real low quality and really really blocky!!

From Flash To Fireworks
I just created an animation in flash. I created the main files in Photoshop for my website. Now, I'm told to use Fireworks to create my slices before importing into Dreamweaver. Does anyone know if I can do this and if so, how do I export the flash file and bring it into Fireworks? As much detail would be very much appreciated.

I am not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this, but I will try anyway. I like to create my pop-up menus in Fireworks because it is a lot easier for me, but I can not seem to get them to import in my flash site. I can get the graphic to come over, but then there is action with them. I know that it creates a script, does that need to be imported to? I am sorry is this is a retarted question, but I was just curious. Thanks in advance for the help.

Im working in dreamweaver. I created a fireworks dropdown menu and also a flash animation. Both are imported to dreamweaver. When I test it, the firework dropdown menu will be under the flash animation. How will I move it over the flash animation so we can view the dropdown menu?

Flash 5 And Fireworks Pup Up Menu
I've a webpage with fireworks pop up menu at the top and a flash movie below, the problem is that the pop up menue is so long that it overlaps the flash movie and is partly hidden behind the flash movie. I want to know is there's a way that the pop up menue is always in front and the flash behind?

FIREWORKS -> FLASH Problems... :(
As both are macromedia products I would have thought the image I see in fireworks program would appear the same in flash, but, alas, its not...

I have made a simple image in fireworks and tried usiing the handy button in the corner to move it over to flash. I've tried using both the copy/ paste and the export/ import but both seem to give quite messy images.

Is this a problem with my image? Do i have to do something with it prior to porting it over?

Very bloody annoying... I'm sure it must be something wrong with me rather than the progs.

Fireworks MX To Flash MX Help Needed
I created a navigation bar with popup menus in fireworks mx and want to bring it into flash mx. I have saved the file as a .png file and exported the htm file (along with all of the files this produces- which would be used to bring it directly into dreamweaver under fireworks html) but I want to bring it into flash mx. Is there any way to do this, or is there a way that is just as easy to create a navigation bar with popups in flash.

Image Map Flash Vs Fireworks
Currently I'm about to start on a new feature for my webpage, but I'm unsure of something.

First my final piece will end up in flash so the question I ask.
Would I get a lower sized flash file if I

1. Export the whole image (reduced file) to flash
*and then break it up,
* select the image maps
*and then convert them into symbols.

Or should I export the whole image to mx fireworks then using the hotspot tools,
* select the image maps.
Then saving and individually exporting each image map.

Which one will give me a lower fla, or would you say that there wont be much difference.

Fireworks Texture In Flash
I need to use a simple texture like diagonal lines in flash. When I import this as a Fireworks .png it always turns into a bitmap. This works OK within flash however when I test the movie it distorts. I'm wondering if theres a way to create the texture in flash so it is crisp like a bitmap font (Actionscript?). Since this type of texture is used a lot on the web I'm also wondering what the standard way is to get it into flash?

I put in a fireworks menu and a flash banner on the same html page. for some reason when i click on the menu the flash movie stutters... does anyone know why? Flash And Fireworks Crash
I really need help. I've had Studio 8 for about 1-2 months now. It was great until about 2 days ago. Fireworks and Flash JUST WOULDN'T START.

For flash, it just gave the "Flash 8 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." when it showed the Splash screen.

Same with fireworks too except that it gave the message, "Could not launch Fireworks. An internal error occurred."

My laptop has the same installation and it's still working. I started this computer in safe mode to see if another program was interfering with these but that did nothing. I re-installed both programs and they still don't work. Flashpaper, Dreamweaver, and Contribute still work.

Help please!

Wierd Bug With Flash+fireworks
I've recently been trying to create a flash movie and I edit many of my objects in fireworks and then copy/paste them from there into flash. This works the first time I paste but if I try to do it more times after that the whole progrom just closes altogether, it doesn't ask me to save or anything it just instantly closes. Its not really a major problem that prevents me from doing anything but its VERY annoying having to save after every image I paste, then reopen and load my flash movie every time. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can prevent it? Thanks.

Flash And Fireworks MX 2004
Just a little stuck. What I'm trying to do is export artwork created in fireworks into flash. Easy! I hear you all cry, all you have to do is copy and paste, there is even a little button to copy into Flash. Yes I know, thats perfectly right. But here is the real problem. When I copy into flash, all of the artwork is converted into a jpeg, gif or bmp, and then pastes into flash as a movie clip with a bmp inside. What I want is to be able to import the artwork as a vector graphic so that it can be resized in flash without any loss of quality. While bmps can be enlarged, they look really bad when the flash player changes the size, this isnt a problem with vectors. The artwork is only simple shapes created in fireworks. No photos or anything complicated. Can anyone help?

Fireworks Import To Flash MX
I am creating a website for a company in fireworks and would like to import it into flash so that each shape is a different symbol. What happens though is that I import it and flash decides to screw it up. I have a few drop shadows on the information boxes and whenever the file is imported into flash it makes that shadow expand out more. Are there certain things I have to do to get a fireworks website to look like it does in fireworks in flash?

Macromedia MX: I am working on an image in Fireworks and would like to incorporate a flash movie into this image so that I can put it into Dreamweaver for my website. A quick example of the image is a square inside a square (kinda like a TV set). Is there a way to layer the Flash movie into the Fireworks image so that the Flash movie plays inside the inner square but is not visible on the outer square? (since it would overlap somewhat) Would I import the image from Fireworks to Flash and work on it there, or import the Fireworks image into Dreamweaver and insert the Flash movie there? I am not sure how to go about this task. Thanks for any suggestions.

Fireworks Rollovers In Flash
I've just come across sitepoint after borrowing Mr Yank's excellent PHP/MySQL book from a friend, the community seems fantastic, so hi!

I'm currently designing a presentation which displays two tables of data. When the user hovers over an item in the left-hand table, lines connecting that item to related items in the right-hand table should display.

This of course could be done with buttons in Flash, but would require a new button for each table item(?) and so is a very long route.

I thought instead about creating a rollover map in Fireworks, where hotspots are linked to different frames. This proved a perfect solution until I imported the .PNG into Flash.

Firstly the formatting screwed up, but that it something I can perhaps work around. The major issue is that the imported .PNG (now a Movie symbol) simple loops through all the frames.

The hotspots, rollovers and control created in Fireworks is gone.

Has anyone any suggestions on a method to solve this issue?

Just simple firework effects will do... eg. light balls shooting upwards at random then bursting into a few balls... stuff like that.

Fireworks To Flash Exporting Probs....
I was wanting to import some images I made in fireworks into flash. However, whenever I do I always seem to import some of the background too...

Ive tried trimming the canvas but it never trims close enough, I've tried turning the background to
the same colour as my movie, but I wanted a small amount of over lap so that won't work, Ive tried putting the background to transparent but the imported file still seems to be white around the outside, I also tried cutting and pasting but for some reason the image gets chopped in half and swapped around....

With both being macromedia products I guess it is easy enough to sort out but damned if I know how....

Any help would be great

Import Fireworks Buttons Into Flash
I have created button symbols in Fireworks MX and want to copy/paste them into Flash MX. When I do this, the buttons remain symbols, but instead of being buttons in Flash, they have been converted to Movie Clips with a layer for each button state. That seems kinda silly. Why wouldn't one be able to copy/paste a button and have it remain a button?

Does anyone know how to do this?

I realize that I can import the Fireworks PNG and the buttons will remain button symbols, but I have a several frame Fireworks file and when importing the PNG into Flash a lot of other things get screwed up, so I would prefer to just copy/paste certain elements at a time.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have used dreamweaver before. I konw how to put simple pages together with roll over graphics that I have made in photoshop. I am trying to learn how to use flash and I am not sure how flash, dreamweaver, and fireworks work together or can I do everything in flash, including all my navigation pull down menues ect. Problem With Fireworks MX, Flash MX And Dreamweaver MX Help
I created a popup menu in Firework MX and imported into my index.html page in Dreamweaver MX. I also have an Flash(.swf) file imported into the page too. All is fine, except that everytime the popup menu pops up, it is showing behind the Flash(.swf) file. How do I go among bringing the popup menu to the front where it can show over the flash file?

Cannot Get 'EDIT WITH FIREWORKS' To Show Up In Flash
Ok so I'm going nuts and about to drive from ny to california or wherever Macromedia programmers hide and kick some butt.

I'm on a g5 OS X 10.3 with the MX suite.

I have pngs that I import into flash and desperately need to be able to right click the image on stage or in the library and 'edit with fireworks' but I cannot cannot cannot get it to work.

If I take all the files into photoshop and resave them as pngs and then import them into flash, it can edit with photoshop. BUT photoshop can only save PNG 24's not PNG 32's. (Do png 24's not have an alpha channel?)

AND BEST of all, is lately I installed HALO, and now instead of at least showing up 'edit with photoshop" in that menu, it now shows 'edit with classes.nib' which is some weird file from the halo installation.

Fireworks Menu Over A Flash Movie
Ok, I think I need help with this. I built drop down nav in fireworks MX and exported the html and images when I insert a flash movie underneith the menu/nav in a table, the rollover works but when you scroll down the navigation, the rest of the drop down disapears and only shows the button that the user is over. What Im trying to do is the same thing pebblebeach.com did on their home page with a non flash drop down menu on top and flash movie below it. Can someone please tell me what Im doing wrong? Im not a wiz with html, Im more of a flash designer so please be patient with me.

The panel at the top of 2nd link, is done in Flash where I intend to put some fading of imagery, etc...I'm concerned about the jpeg quality here, as I copied the elements from Fireworks and pasted into Flash, then exported with jpeg at highest; but it still looks bad in parts. Was this the best way to do it?? You can see the quality degrade on some of the blue and red rounded corners between these two links...
Any advice appreciated.
