Flash :: FlashKit Question

Where Do I Look In Flashkit
where do i look for something to do this:

at the bottom of the page, there will be a list of thumbnails of pictures side by side.

when you put the mouse over one, a semi transparent gray block moves from wherever it is to the picture that the mouse is over.

at the same time, the full picture on the main part of the screen slides over.

the main idea, is that i want it to move directly from where it was to where the mouse is, and be able to keep moving towards it without stopping.

i've seen a lot of message boards like the one here at flashkits, my question is how can i generate my own message board (but my focus is on music)? is this something the host should provide? or do these people program it themselves?

I just have to say that you guys on these forums are the best. I am a big-time newbie to Flash and while I have the books that came with Flash 5, The Flash Bible that I borrow from work, and another one, and two graphic artists at work - most of my problems get solved right here on "Flashkit". The guys that have answered my posts have not only done their best to help, but they've gone out of their way! Trying to replicate my problem, taking screen shots to demonstrate something, or just going into minute detail to help me out.

This is a BIG THANKS to all of you guys who make such an effort to help newbies like me. You are the best!

I have downloaded the flashkit guestbook and have installed it all as the tutorial said...when I look at it online - it gets as far as "read entry" and then just sits there...any ideas???...I looked in the Fla and there is a keyframe that makes it loop there if the variable "eof" = false.....I don't know what eof is.....any help would be cooel

Flashkit Pop Ups Not Working
Can anyone give me a quick answer to this one.

I recently downloaded a 'pop up' stopper which I have since un installed.
Problem is...every time I am on a site like flashkit that opens new windows for downloads, the new windows only half open.

They just go as far as the window frame and remain 'hollow' on the inside.

I assume that my settigs are screwed up somewhere along the line but I don't know where to look to remedy the situation.

Someone help me please, it's driving me NUTS!!!!!!!

HELP FlashKit Slideshow Or...
I have been trying to get my slideshow to work like the FlashKit tutorial but I can't seem to get it so that the picures are continuous. I want the last picture of my group to be followed by the first picture so that it continuously is looping around. I hope I said that right. If not, let me know.

I have a Mask Layer and I tried making 2 that are Masked layers. I have been fooling around with this for several days. HELP!

there is something i do time to time and i also saw other persons doing now and then: when i read a message in the forum, i click the button post reply to answer, but sometimes (my fault) i click post new by mistake.

This is just a sugestion: why don't put the 2 buttons a little bit more separated or far from each other.

Anyway, just a sugestion.

Help Me Flashkit, U R My Only Hope
I am havin a bit of a 'mare with a contact form on my flash website. I have been searchin the forums, but can't find an answer for my particular breed of problem!! I am using MX on a Mac (OS X).

I have set up 3 input text fields with the variables: : name, email, comments
then I have a send button with the following script on it:

loadVariables("http://cgi-bin/mailback Script provided by my website host", _root, "GET");
}

gotoAndStop(2);
}

When I publish this from Flash (as a swf), it works perfectly, I receive an email with all variables accounted for.
However, when I upload the page (using Fetch) I t doesn't work. I don't receive any emails. It doesn't matter what browser or platform I use (tried em all), nothing!
It doesn't even work from the swf file I publish from within Flash, when the page is uploaded on my webspace!
Can anyone guide me in the right direction, as this is driving me up the wall!!! Any help is much appreciated!

Hello All,

Quick question about the SoundFX section of this website.

If I go to SoundFX and then click on the Interface button(http://www.flashkit.com/soundfx/Interfaces/) I see that the "switches" section for example has over 3700 sound effects.
However, when I go to listen to them I only seem to have access to about 12-20 of them.
Where's the rest?

Preload XML or something else I've overseen?

Hello flashkit...in the past I've just trolled and searched and always found my answers...but this one baffles me. No one seems to know the answer...so I've posted here

In re-designing my web site and adding a gallery with XML, dynamic mcs, etc...I've learned a ton in these forums.

The gallery is almost done, but I have one bug that I can't squash.

Fisrt...I've pushed my XML document into arrays. I want the first large image in my array to load, if you look at the AS, at the end I've commented out what I thought would spawn this...is this a preload XML thing? If so, how would I attack a fix?

I'm embarrased to post my code as I think it's probably poorly constructed, but I've swallowed my pride and posted here.

these books wont be gargantuan novels just simple short and to the point easy to understand ABC books with pictures.remember these books are for NOOBS so if you have any input on this project then make it simple.

Hey guys this is the first time I’m going tackle Adobe After effect witch i think is the program I need.

As you can see this site has an effect on the middle layout like it dose a weird zoom in and out, I been trying to find somehow where I could learn this technique either threw a friend or a tutorial that someone will kindly make for me.. Now I been trying to get this for like 6 months or so and never thought of posting here because barely anyone replies to me when I post. But Il give it a try before I switch forums, if Flashkit dose help me out I would probably stay and give it an other try of being in the Flashkit family.

Either way I’m guessing this is done in adobe after effect.

Looking For Old File In Flashkit Does Anyone Rem It?
Over the last 4 years i´ve come across the file i´ll now describe below which had novice design but had great source code:

Title could be something like: pseudo 3D, 2d rooms, walkthrough, and so on...

It was a pseudo 3d walkthrough of a building from the 1st person point of view, you walked down a corridor and when you came to a decision you moved your mouse and went in that direction. You could enter a room or two or walk around, it was predominently Yellow and Grey colouring with weird chalk boards with symbols on it.

Does anyone remember it, or does anyone have it, or know what the name is etc - i´ve spent 2 days now looking through all the relevent sections in flashkit but to no avail. HELPPPPPPPP!!!! x

hey, I'll try to describe this in the best way possible. I have a couple of swfs loaded on to the stage, but are in layers and not all visible at once(important). and i have a simple frame based mp3 player above the loader component... is there anyway to pass data to the player from a swf? All i need to do is change the frames basically to trigger the correct music, basically I just need to know if its possible to execute commands from a loaded swf.

I have customized a flashkit movie which has been nested here for quite a long time.
Now I'm about to launch my website and want to have confirmation that I can use this material.

I came here some weeks ago to see who's the author and found his email addresse.
I've sent him a message but had no answer in return.

So, do I have the right to use a movie coming from here (of course it's inspired from it and not a simple copy/paste. Even though, you can still see where it's coming from as long as you know it....
