Flash :: Floating Flash Movies Over Pages?

Fuzzy Menu And Floating Movies
A couple of questions. I am using FlashMX 6.0 on XP in Dreamweaver MX.

I am creating a bar with several buttons for the top which I am including on
all of my other pages for navigation. When I preview the movie in Flash it
looks good and crisp, however, when I preview in Dreamweaver or IE6 it is
fuzzy. I have been able to reproduce the fuzzy problem in Flash by
selecting Show All when I preview and I can correct it by selecting 100%
from the right-click menu. I believe the problem would be solved if I could
set the movie to 100% automatically either in Dreamweaver or Flash. I have
not been able to locate where to set the movie to default at 100% in the
publish settings of Flash and the option is not available in Dreamweaver.
Can I hardcode it in Dreamweaver?

My other question is about Flash movies that go outside of the designated
"stage" area. I have seen movies on Amazon.com and other sites that have,
for instance, a dropdown menu that drops down into the html area of the
browser. How do I do this? My menu I spoke of above is a dropdown and as
of right now, when it drops down, you can't see it because the movie
dimensions are not extended to the length of the dropdown. If it were, the
Flash movie would be huge vertically. Thanks for the help.

Do Flash Movies Always Require The Top "layer" On HTML Pages?
I am working on creating a Flash file that will go on a page similar to:

The Flash file will be in the main white area, just under the orange menu bar (with the drop down menus). However, the Flash file always takes the top layer, thus forcing the dropdowns in the background. Is there a way to fix this problem?

Empty Pages (breaks) Between Movies?
When I click on a button inside my site that loads a new movie...it gives me a blank screen and then the new movie loads...just like clicking between regular html pages....so there is no sense of one continuous site.
To solve this offline...I made each movie park in an empty frame and then load the new movie on the same level.
But when I go online.....it does not help.

Could it have something to do with preloading - although the download of each individual movie is very quick (this is still new to me)or could it have something to do with the fact that when publishing I loaded the first page into Dreamweaver and then just placed all the other swf files in the same folder and ftp'ed them all online. ......or none of the above.

Preloading External Movies Into Html Pages
My nav bar uses Get URL to load the movie which then loads the other movies into seperate layers. It starts with an Intro Page and you navigate from there.

What I want to know is can I preload the other movies into the cache even though there part of a seperate html page.
If I preload them into the first movie when the user navigates to the next using the get URL link then won't the movies have to reload?. Is there a way round this??

Arranging An Array Of Attached Movies Into Columns And Pages
I there.

I've developing a touchscreen application for my school that, among other things, will list particular files in a directory for users to print out easily. I'm using SWF studio and FlashMX 2004. The filenames in a directory have been split up into an array and set out as seperate movie clips using the attachmovie command. That's all working fine but I want the movie clips to arrange into columns, and if needed into multiple pages. Because it is a touchscreen application the buttons need to be quite large so my space is reasonably limited.

Here's the code I'm using to create and attach the movie clips to the stage.

Any1 Have That Problem With Loading Games/movies On Pages?
I use just simple 64k modem. And it works very slow.
But I want to say. It when I disconnect while movie was loading then refresh page sometimes it doesn't go after point it loaded before so I need to delete temporary file and refresh. Then it begin loading form begining once again.
Usualy I have this problem on some sites but it works allways OK on some other sites.

Floating Flash Help
In some web sites I see an image from flash that floats over the "real" html page, covering up a part of the page and letting the other part visible, like if it was "flying" over it.

Can you tell me how can I do that?

How do you create an ad that floats on top of whatever is underneath? For example, Yahoo! for a while had an SBC ad where the rocket (plane?) would fly around and then disappear. It's not a popup window. Thanks!

Hey I'm interested in learning how to make those floating flash pop-ups. They're usually advertisements and give the illusion, for example, of something ripping into the screen and out comes like, an ad for a new 4runner. They have little X's to close it down and such...Anyway I have some ideas for these things so if anyone knows how to make them or knows of a tutorial let me know. Oh and what they are "officially" called would be nice so I don't sound like a jackass when I'm talking about them. Thanks.

Does anyone out there know how to create a floating flash ad? I've got an urgent job for a client but have no idea how to go about this. The specs tell me the movie must have a transparent background? - can you do this in flash?

Does anyone have some simplistic explanation as to how these ads are made to float over the page? I have somewhat an idea, I mean I can definately animate them, but the coding I'm having complications with because so many people are telling me different things. Some are saying you have to use DHTML (whatever that is) others are saying use javascript or incorporate the two, I know how to get the flash transparent and how to get it to size, to do everything except get it to float on my page.

Also I've heard you have to have some actionscript in to call the javascript, is this the case and what's the easiest most simplistic way for this?

I've tried Double CLicks Ad Kit 3.0 which I can make the ad and it shows up in the .swf file just fine because the size is correct but when I test it on a page the ad doesnt expand the way I want. I've made a box sized 336x280 and I want it to expand to the left to 600x280, I see the animation for like a pixel to the left in html but it doesn't float it just stays in the box area, but I know my ad stage is 600 pixels wide and the bigginging is on the right side of the flash document expanding to the left. I know all that's correct, but how can I easily get it to float?

Also the server we use I can't just upload java per page, we use an upload service to place our ads in preset positions in the HTML, so the java wouldn't work to well as it would be a strain on our programmers, but if this the only way, if someone could give me a good basic rundown and all I have to do is create the ad and they can copy the code to html for any floating .swf all we'd have to do is change the size, position and name of swf it's calling that would be perfect. I just can't find it. PLEASE HELP!

Have you ever been on an HTML site and in a corner of the site there is a flash ad or a banner that when you mouse over, it takes over the entire page?

I always thought that with flash your always constrained to the size of the movie but it seems that there is a way to make your movie "float" over HTML when "on mouse over"

If I could get some help on this terminology to find a tutorial or if you could provide some help it would be greatly appreciated.

Flash Header Is Floating Around?
I designed a site using Flash and Dreamweaver. There is a flash top banner area with html text below that in tables. For some reason, if you scroll down on the page, the flash banner will reappear wherever you stop scrolling. This doesn't happen on all computers. So far, I've only heard reports of it happening on a mac. Can anyone give me any insight on this? Here's the site, if you'd like to take a look:

Floating Two Css Layers Over Flash
I am building a site that hopefully will take advantage of the design excellence of Flash and still be friendly to Google and other sites. To do this, I have created a background that is essentially flash and want to float text, that can be indexed by Google, in CSS layers positioned over the flash.

I've had success with floating one layer, but not a second one and I cannot figure out why. The wmmode thing is set to transparent and the flash file itself loads into an i-frame.

My first layer, which consists of text explaining what my company does, floats neatly (and with 80 percent opacity) above the flash file. No problem there.

To further appeal to the Google gods, however, I want to have a rss newsfeed appear on the site. I have found a way to take an RSS feed, convert it to an HTML, then load the html into an i-frame. On another site I did, I had no problem loading all this into a layer positioned by a stylesheet. But I cannot for some reason get this to work in the second layer on this new site, no matter what the z-index I set.

Oh, it floats above the flash file, but not by the coordinates set in the stylesheet. In fact, no matter how I change the stylesheet, the newsfeed i-frame layer stays put. If I can float one layer above an i-frame containing the flashfile's html page, why cannot I float a second layer? Is it because that second layer also has an i-frame? I'm mystified and very much a newbie.

Floating SCROLL BOX In MX FLASH
PLEASE HELP! The problem that I am having is with these floating text scroll bars which were created on a Mac using Flash MX.

I.E. Please go to www.ericmantel.com - click on "ENTER" click on "ABOUT ERIC" then click on "Endorsements" and you'll see exactly what I am talking about!

They need to be expanded to fit for more text if needed. The text area is too small. They can only fit a certain amount of text in the text area before it gets chopped off. I figured out on how to expand the text inside the scroll area but the text scroll bar itself doesn't stay within the scroll arrows of the scroll bar, it goes beyond. What I need to be able to do is, expand the text so the scroll bar stays within the arrows of the scroll bar. It needs to expand to the amount of text being typed inside.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! I have been trying to get this problem fixed for over a year now and no one wants to help me!

I need to have a link inside a swf that will open another swf which will float over an html page.

I know that the new swf I am opening will need to be set with css and z-indexing, but how do I have this open in the first swf? In other words, what would the scripting look like for this link?

I have taken over a Flash project and am wondering how to proceed. Any input/links/tutorials would be greatly appreciated.

There are 4 separate areas to the site (all separate Flash movies) and a 5th movie that acts as a "communicator" between the sites. The communicator should pop up and float over the open site (with the open site still visible underneath) and contain the links to the 4 areas.

What are the methods to accomplish this? Is it done with ActionScripts and layers in Flash?

I have this 160X600 ad banner that I want to trigger a football to fly across the screen (entire web page) and land on the banner. I know about the layer and winmode option but is there a way within the flash file to have it load, play and unload another flash file (say the football).

If so could someone point me in the direction of a tutorial or help me out on this. I am running out of time on this and sure could use some help. I could make it worth your while.

Some notes I have taken.

Floating banner should be saved as Macromedia Flash 6.0 form, or earlier. Animation’s suggested speed is 21 fps and it can not be faster than 25 fps.

It needs to include active layer (button) on the top, including the following action:

Floating Flash With Transparent Bg
I have searched for the past hour in this forum but still am unable to find an answer.

I am trying to float a Flash movie of a person overtop a web page. I already know about adding the parameter wmode and setting it to transparent. The problem is that I am getting the movie to display, but it displays with a white bg. I can't seem to get it to go transparent.

I have my original video clip of an onscreen talent in front of a greenscreen. The file is in mpg format. So how do I produce an swf file with a transparent bg? I already tried in Publish Settings to set Window Mode to Transparent Windowless, but no luck.

I have also heard the term alpha channel, but I can't seem to figure out where to access that in Flash.

I should mention that I am using Flash MX2004 Professional. Do I need to upgrade in order to achieve the results I'm looking for?

Problem With Floating Flash
Hey everyone! I've been working on a website in my independent study, and I'm trying to make it look like the website of a popular magazine. I was hoping to get some floating flash "ads" to slide across, but I'm having problems. It's at www.completemagazineonline.com

Is it possible that floating flash doesn't work with php? Because much of the page is included in a header file.

Floating Flash Elements?
I created a cool flash element that I want to float left, and have text to the right, but I tried in the code to do a float but it didnt work. Can i fix with css? Im also using Kirupas flash embed fix, which im not fimiliar as i was with old embed tags, oh an i have to have it validate? Im on a deadline by tomo, any suggests??????
