For Those Of Ya That Know Metal Gear Solid.



Hi! I'm making a sequel to my Metal Gear Solid parody, and I need a place with music from it. I've seen other parodys of it, and they have the music from the game.

And also, I read this tutorial a week ago, and it said "Each scene is for different parts of the movie, such as an Intro, the Main Part" and blah blah blah. When I finished making my first Flash (my parody) there were so many folders filled with layers, it was hard to keep track of. Would making a scene for the Intro, first part of the movie, second part of the movie, then credits change anything?

I could learn a preloader, but I'm lazy Does a preloader do anything besides perform actions after it is done loading and tell you how much it has loaded?

Why doesn't the movie clip timeline show up with the main timeline when you play it when you're editing it, but when its in .SWF format, it shows it?

When I played my movie in .SWF format, the sound loop would go *plays loop, stops half a second, plays loop again*. Why does it do that? Is there any way to prevent that?

3-D Gear Motion Tween
Using Flash MX

Turning Gear Making Faster
Hi all

I have made a movie clip in which there is a gear turining around in clock wise position...

well i want to make it so when the mouse goes over that gear it start to turn muchfaster than its regular turn..and when i move the mouse out it restores its firts turning speed...

is there anyway to do that ?

Gear Rotation After Button Press
I have yet another problem.
I have an external "nav swf", that controlls another ex. swf (content)
When I press a button, the "content" slides, left and right. I want a gear to rotate after pressing the button as well. I have no idea how to execute this effect. So far this is what is in my button (which works so far):

I would like to sync the rotating of the gear, to the sliding of the background.

Rotatiing Gear Or Symbol For Loading
Hello Forum Members,

I have seen (particularly when a MAC computer boots up, etc) a "gear-like" symbol that gives the appearance
of rotation that some flash programmers use when an image loads. I have seen this on various flash sites (like JetPhoto.com). Where can I get that symbol? I would like to use that instead of text indicating percent loaded, etc.

Any tips?

Building A Gear-and-rack Loading Bar--need Script Help
I am building a web page that requires a loading bar. I want to make mine unique by using a gear and rack instead of a bar. As my site loads (swf), I want the gear to rotate counterclockwise slightly and the rack to nudge forward 6 px.

See the example image, please.

When implemented, the portion of the rack outside the designated area will be masked-out. This will obviously be a much more complicated movie clip than the standard bar animation, but it will kick *$$. I have Already successfully made a gear-train animation that rotates flawlessly and endlessly with different sized gears. It looks cool, and I want to do this to keep continuity in design.

I need help scripting this. I have never scripted a load-page, before. I am actually a novice scripter. I use Flash CS3 and actionscript 2.0. Please help me write this. I think I can figure out the part for the rotation and translation ITSELF, but I have no clue how to make it dependant on the percent of the scene that is loaded.

Can anyone help?

I've got this white box, with round corners, and with a small inner shadow. What I want exactly is:
When I rollover the box border, it moves and waves, just like if the box was made out of liquid metal, like T-1000 from Terminator2. Here is my box:

Zoom In/out + Rotation For Video (like Those Snowboard Gear Website)

I am not sure if this is the rigth section to post, but I'll give it a try. A Flash newbie with my first post, any help is much appreciated!

I am trying to create a video/3D animation with zoom in/out feature. It would be great if it can be rotated so that i can see all views.

I'm not sure what my approach should be, in terms of particle generation. What I'm looking at at the moment, is to hand build something close, and tile it.

Not very re-usable or cool.

How do i make an object solid---like i want it so the character cant pass thru it. i think u use .hitTest or .getBounds but im not sure.

Fading An MC As A Solid
hi,

I have a few movieclips that I am fading out alpha with actionscript

The problem is the MC is not a solid shape, it has layered shapes in it, so you can see all the shapes within it fading indivually

Is there a way of fading an MC as if it were a solid (bitmap?)

Is there an easy way of converting a vector mc into a bitmap in actionscript?

Solid Wall
I am making a labyrinth in Adobe Flash at my school. I have already made the ball, which you must play with through the labyrinth. You click the ball with mouse and move it with your mouse. How I get the walls of the labyrinth to be solid that the ball cant go over the walls?

Is there any way to make it solid? Another idea I had is to make te ball jump one pixel farther from the wall when it touches the wall.

I have tried some several scripts, but all I have achieved is that the ball jumps over the wall, so in a way the wall is solid, but I want the ball to bounce from the wall.

The game is simple. The ball is drawn movieclip and the walls are lines made into movieclip.

Since it been a little whle since i did a hittest.

I need a hitest that stops guy from going thrugh the wall..

I call this a solid hittest..

Im making a zelda type game with zelda graphics and some strange character..

I know that i have to MAKE A MC

The bottom layer in the main scene is a jpeg image it has water and tree hill etc. what i want to is set boundrys for my charecter too not pass through them as if they where solid. i cant even prevent him from walking off the stage? this puzzels me he walks about just fine just like but he walks to fine even on top water and tress. how do I make limitions to his movement heres the .fla link http://24.98.190.46/beta.fla

Making Objects Solid- Please Help
Hi! I'm new to flash, and I have made some simple things. I am trying to make a game, and am having trouble with ActionScript- I have movement of my "player" down pat but how can i make things like walls, obstacles etc?

[AS3] Drawing API - Solid Overlap?
I'm trying to simply draw a solid shape consisting of various other shapes, however, when I overlap two shapes, the overlapped area becomes transparent again. For instance:

How Do I Make Objects Solid So Te Car Cant Go Through Them?
I've made a car move around with the kyboard buttons, but i want to make objects that the car cannot pass through and hopefully bounce off how would i go about that?

I want to see if i could use the the flash drawing engine as well, so that they could draw their track then it would be solid, so they can race the car round in it? is that possible?

LocalConnection: Solid Or Brittle?
I'm building a site that will stream audio and video recordings in a custom Flash 9 media player.

The recordings will stream in a pop-up window. However, I would like to display some info about the currently playing recording in the main browser window (title, time elapsed, etc.) and also provide a play/pause button. Basically like embedding a "remote control" for the pop-up in the main page.

The most obvious choice to accomplish this seems to be local connection. Having never used local connection before, I'm hoping someone with a little experience with it can quell a couple of my concerns; specifically:
Is LocalConnection brittle? (i.e. cross-browser issues, buggy, etc.)
While using the player, will the user experience side effects if navigating to another site that uses local connection?
As LocalConnection has been around since Flash 6, is there now a better method to facilitate communication between the remote SWF and the player SWF?

Random Particles To Solid
I'm trying to figure out how I might achieve the reverse of Andy Fould's beautiful photo transition effect (http://www.andyfoulds.co.uk)...
basically I want a number of particles (squares) to begin small and invisible and then each have a random path and velocity as it scales to 100% and alphas in to form a larger, solid background. My main problem is with randomizing its movement from one place (random position on the stage) to its final destination (each square next to one another to form a solid). Any help would be much appreciated.

Text Transparency With Solid Background
hi,

i'm trying to create a menu setup where the menu option "inverts" on a mouseover.

i have a picture as backdrop, and white textual menu options. The text has no background or border, so the options are just white text floating over the background.

i'm trying to make it so that when you hover over an item, it changes to a white text background, and the text becomes transparent, so that suddenly the background becomes visible through the text.

does anyone know if this is possible? If not, i'll have to go with black text on a white background for the mouseover. one thing that strikes me is: are negative masks possible? could i make the text a mask so that it appears to cut a transparent hole in a white box?

I am trying to change the rbg color on photo of a car. I tried a few things from some of the threads on the site here but didn't get the results I needed. It would turn the picture into one solid color.

The pictures are of cars on a white background so masking should'nt be a problem. Any help on a tutorial or maybe a thread I missed would be appreciated.

Flash Movie Displays As Solid White Area
Hi there. My movie views perfectly in 'test movie' while still in flash, however once I dump it into a cell of a table in Dreamweaver, it displays as a white background when previewing in explorer or netscape. Can anyone suggest what might be causing this?

I'd like to know how I could recolor an existing display object (like a movieclip or sprite) dynamically. I want to let the user pick colors or patterns for the sprite from a color picker I've already programmed.
