Shaking The Browser Window?
Looking through the tutes I found a very cool effect to shake the browser window at :

However, I'm a bit new to all this scripting malarky.... I kinda get the code (kinda) but I can't work out how to implement it. I tried pasting it into a html doc but I don't know how it would activate the shaking. The flash way looks handier to me but do I paste the html into a doc and then use a button or something in flash to point towards that doc.

thats the script that goes in the html file

and this is the script thats being used in the flash

ok now the problem i have is when i used this page by itself it works. but when i try to make this page work with a group of frames it dosent work.

the frames get broken up.

can some one tell me what i am doing wrong. may be there is a different way i could write the code that will shake all the frames not just one.

Shaking Browser Window Refresh Problem
Hi chaps and chappesses,

I saw a tutorial years ago on here:

Which i have used a couple of times in projects. Recently i noticed that when it runs the Javascript function the page refreshes thus (on a PC) it makes a page clicking sound, as when you go to another page.

Is there anyway around this, or can the same effect be done in a different way?

Having Trouble With "shaking The Browser Window"
I followed the tutorial just like the instructions said but I am having no luck getting the desired effect. My concept is to have the user click the text button and have it shake the window, and then load an html file. I have it as an object action for the button in the last frame of my movie. I have the javascript verbatim in my source html file. When I test the file and click the button, absolutely nothing happens. What could I be doing wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Signature Linking To A Forum
I am a member of a clan that plays games, i also dabble in flash because I enjoy useing flash so much.

However i am having trouble displaying one of my nick name flash movies. I have tried useing different tags like html and the ][ brackets (not sure what coding this is called). and still it does not display.

I have uploaded the file and it displays in my browser, not sure what I am really doing or where i am going wrong. I have contacted the forum admin and he couldn't figure out what was wrong so i am guessing its my movie?

Linking To Swf File For Forum Signature
Not even sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but...

I am using a signature for one of my online video game teams. I have set up my forum properties to get the link for my swf, but when I try to view the swf in the forum, it shows up as a red x, or blank pic.

I am not sure if it has to do with the actual forum, or if it is how I created it.

I also cannot prevent scaling when i make the window larger.

Any ideas? Your help is appreciated!

A Bit More On Shaking The Browser...
Earlier I posted, having had problems getting the browser shaking tute at:

working.

I got it working but I still can't get it quite how I like. I have been adjusting the (n) in the:

on(release) {
getURL("javascript:shake_xy(n);");

but it still looks wierd. When the browser window is maximised it seems like only a few bigish shakes but when the window is smaller it seems a more realistic shake. If you look at the tute it looks slightly different if u change your window size but it looks more prominent on my efforts.

Does any one know if there are more parameters I can change to try to make my shake more realisitc?

hey i want to be able to shake the web browser from within flash....example on mouse over a button i want the browser to shake...i am able to do this in dreamweaver by pressing a button(tutorial at javascript) but i was wondering if someone could help me with the script of what ever it takes to do it in flash.....i would be very thankfull and show you the finished product on the web when finished

I have tryed out one of the tutorials on this site entitled shaking the browser window, well I can't get it to work!

but the problem is, im more a graphics person, and less an even remotely knowledgeable scripter. My question is, for the "(n)" after function shake_xy<b>(n)</b>, do i insert a value?

I saw Flash site. The moving was playing and suddenly the browser started shaking for a second. How is it possible. I know that there are some javascript coding which can shake browser. I Can't Get Javascript To Work With My Flash Movie (script From Shaking Browser Tut)
I have tried everything I can think of to make my flash movie to load in the browser and get the window to shake on the last frame like it does on the "shaking the browser window" tutorial. I placed the get url in the
frame and cut and pasted the script given in the tutorial into my html. What am I doing wrong??

The flash animation contains two layers. Each layers contain two boxes. The boxes should enter the stage and collide in the middle. When they collide, the last frame stops and the browser window is supposed to shake. I have looked all over the net to find step by step instructions to combine java script with flash movies. Why can't someone just simply tell me step by step how to do this? Nothing tells me where in the html to include the java script and no sources are there to say exactly where to include everything.

"shaking Browser" Effect In A SWF
I read about and used a technique in Flashkit on how to use Javascript to get the browser to "shake" (kinda like a vibration felt when a dinosaur walks!) by imbedding the javascript into the html page and then calling the action from a swf file using the "getURL" command.

My question is this:

Can Actionscript be somehow implemented in a Flash movie (a swf file) to make JUST the swf do the same effect, that is, instead of the browser?

What I would like to specifically do, is have an interface type swf shake when an object alpha's in and sets into place. If anybody knows how to make the shake effect in the manner I'm asking, let me know. All I need is the correct Actionscripting to bring about what I want. It's all I lack, I have the swf setup how I like it and just need the applicable code for the effect. Don't know THAT much about Actionscript (yet) so I'm asking for help on this one! Flash Stage Size So It Fits Browser Perfectly-plz Help This Is My 6th Forum
Hi there,

Honestly i thought this would be a simple question but it seems no-one anywhere will answer it. Ive joined 5 other forums and posted the same message with no answer!

I thought this would be a common post but i have searched the post archives and found nothing relating to my question.

Basically i want to create a flash movie so when it is viewed in the broswer window it takes up the whole browser window.

I dont mean chromeless- where the movie takes over the broser controls aswell, but just the browser window.

Ive tried loads of different stage sizes but cant get it right. Can anyone sugggest the correct stage size so that it takes up the whole avaliable space.

Close.window Script In Flash Button Quits My Browser Window Or Crashes System
Can somebody please help me?
I have a javascript attached to a button in a .swf file to close the browser window it is in.
The code which was given to me yesterday by senocular is

however if you try it IE will unexpectedly quit or bomb my computer.
I tried it in Netscape and it didn't crash.

after intro go to print button and then to editorial button.
Editorial opens new window with editorial.swf inside. Click on top right button to close window and see what happens.

Pausing After Preload If Browser Window Is Not Active Window
Hi folks,

I'm trying to figure out how to do this, but so far I have had no success. The intention is for anything like a Flash trailer, intro movie or such like which is large to preload and once this is done check to see if the user is still viewing that browser window.

So if during the preloading the user opens/selects a different window and the preloading finishes then the Flash will go to a paused screen, awaiting the user to indicate they want to proceed (eg a play button). If however the user still has, or has returned to, the browser window it will skip the pause screen and play the animation.

For an example the 9th chapter of Ninjai.com seems to do this (I haven't checked the other chapters).

Any help would be appreciated.

Loading External SWF's Into A New Flash Window Instead Of A Browser Window?
I have this flash presentation where I have buttons when clicked on, a (_blank) browser window pops-up and begins playing external SWF's.

The problem is that, with windows XP, every time I click the button(s) to have the browser window pop-up, to play my externals, the damn 'virus protection notification' thing pops-up first, asking me if this content is allowed. Is there a way to turn this off? My client does not want to have to "allow" the browser to play the external SWF's everytime. I've tried everything but no luck.

Better yet, is there a way to have the external SWF's pop-up in a totally new flash window, on top of the main (presentation) window? I don't want the external SWF's playing in the same window, but rather show in a new window entirely. Can anyone help me? This project is past-due and it needs to go out today. I'll attach the current scripting I'm using so far, if it helps. Thanks so much!

Loading In New Projector Window Not Browser Window
I'm designing a portfolio site and Im sending it out as a projector. Is there a way that I can have images load in a new projector window, and not the default browser. My only succes so far is using the getURL, but this opens the image in a browser or in the same window, and I just want to open a new window with the projector, not an internet browser. I'm trying to load a new html file that contains a movie but I like to specify to what frame to proceed in that movie I try to write this in actionscript I think it is easier to understand.

Getting Rid Of The Top Of The Browser Window When Launching A New Window.

I have been having trouble getting a flash site to launch a new broswer window for a html document. It worked fine when opening a new flash window but not html.

Anyway someone on here kindly helped me and sent me this code:

Which made it work the only thing is it pop up including the browser menu at the top - does anyone know how i can get rid of this?

Also within the html doc - http://www.design8ed.com/digitalspir.../designcs.html i have a close button which when reviewed works but when published it doesn't close the browser window - is there something i'm missing - why isn't it working?

New Browser Window Help
I'll try to be as clear as I can possibly be with this question. Lets say I have a links page and I'de like a new browser window to come up from a button when I have pressed it or to have a new browser window come up when someone enters my site. But I want the new browser window to be lets say W=300 L=350. I really need some help with this one. Any help would really be appreciated!!
