Frameless Windows
Anyone know if it's possible to create a borderless window for an .exe to come up in?

I know you can sort of cheat with a browser window (make it fullscreen in JavaScript and then change the window size) but I've been playing with a downloadable app that's all Flash, but comes up in its own little window with it's own little border.

http://www.borealski.com - at the bottom of the screen, click to download the MountainLink. It's a neat little app that shows you current conditions at the mountain.

So, is that .exe really an all-Flash projector file, or is it Flash wrapped in something else to get rid of the window?

Pop-up Frameless Windows?

Need to know will this work or not, In my index.html when click to enter, it will pop-up a frameless window, for example:~ 400x400 in midle of ur screen. now i want another pop-up frameless window 50x50 just next to the 400x400 when it reach to frame80. Can this be done? What script i should use here?

All the time, I get popups in the corner of my screen that are above everything else...they have no frame and when I right click it appears they are flash. Anyone know how you can get that effect, the frameless effect, without keeping it over everything? Here's what I want to obtain:

When the user leaves my website, a flash application comes down from the top of the screen. It says 'wait dont leave' and all that good stuff, and has a link back to the site as well as a (very clearly denoted, mind you) button to close the window.

Here's the situation. I have a button in a flash that when clicked should open a frameless(without the navigation bar, etc) browser window. The window will contain an html file. Can the script be written within flash to create the frameless browser window or do i need to create a javascript in the html file that should appear in the frameless window? Either way can you help me out with the script? thanks--JOE

Frameless/chromeless Pop_up
I have seen that you can make a pop-up without a frame, I right click this pop-up and it happened to be a swf file, but the thing is that this file isn't in a window (or at least it apparently wasn't) So. I was wondering how can I make that happen ¿Is it some code in actionscript or is it java or what the heck, Please help me, my boss is after me cause she wants me to do that kind of stuff and for being sincere I HAVE NO IDEAAAA!!!!

Hi, I've been trying to get a 'frameless popup window' to work on my site. The best I've managed so far is using this code:

FrameLess Flash Animation
Hi

i'm new to flash and am currently designing a lil advestisment for my fast food premise that will run from a Mac mini on a 40inch LCD, most of the general design is finest for version 1 but my main issues are the frame surrounding the animation when i run it. I'd like to have it in full screen with no flashplayer title bars or no other title bars. It doesnt look too professional with the menu and title bars!!

How To Control A Movie Symbol In A Movie Which Is Loaded Intro Another Movie?

I need help with some script. I have a movie, which is my main movie, and to which I load all other movies, like sound clips, other related movie which load on request. the problem is with the sound movie which I created, it's a separate file and it has a sound loop which starts and then if an button is clicked it stops, and then starts again if the buttons is pressed again. Also in this sound movie I have another movie symbol with audio bars animation which plays only when the sound is playing, and then it stops when the sound is stopped. It works fine with this code:

...on it's own, but when it is loaded into another movie it works only partially, the sound stopps but the audio bar animation which you see here as instance name "sound_bars" is not working, it keeps playing even when the button is pressed. but like I said the sound stopps. So what I need to know is how to control that movie symbol which is inside a movie called soundloop1, which is loaded into my main movie. I know it's a level / tell target issue, but I just cannot figure out how to control it from another movie. If you can help me that would be greatly appreciated Thanks.

How Do I Jump From A Movie Inside A Movie Back Out To The Main Movie?
Im using MX Pro, i have a flash movie (Movie1) that has a button. I coverted the button to a movie symbol(movie2). i double click that movie symbol(movie2) and it opens into its own smaller movie. i am trying to write the actionscript for a button in the smaller movie (movie2) to take me to scene 2 of the Movie1. PLEASE HELP !!

Client Loading My AS3 Movie Into An AS2 Movie, Need To Close My Movie Afterwards...
I created an AS3 animation, and a client is attempting to load my AS3 animation into an AS2 movie that someone else created. They emailed me and told me to add this to the end of my animation...

I knew this wasn't going to work, and it won't even compile and throws an error. I know how to close an external movie using event triggers and listeners using AS3, but not really sure how it works with AS2. Any ideas?

if you want to skip a defined explanation feel free to skip to the bottom ---- section.

I tried as usual to search the forums and came up with obscure references to this problem. (now that I've said that someones going to search for it and find the exact thread I should have found :p)

I have 4 movies.

A) Main movie (a website for a starting jewellery company currently found at http://zephn.com/aboutface/

B) Gallerydirectory (a movie in which there are several buttons which load various thumbnail movies)

C) Thumbnail movies (there are several options of these but each is filled with buttons that load swfs which has a picture in it)

D) Defined image swf's (various photos inserted into swf's that have a fade effect applied to them)

Now that I have explained the set up I will explain that curently this works but I am trying to alter this slightly and am encountering problems.

Instead of loading just movie "D" at the end of this chain, which has a picture inserted into it prior; I want movie "D" to load a jpeg into itself "when" it loads. I beleive the term used is dynamically.

This allows for image changes to the website without having to insert pictures to the movie "D"'s anymore.

I can just drag new jpegs into a directory and the movie set up will just load the new images instead of having me edit every individual swf.

-------------NOW the problems I am having is I am unsuccessful at creating a movie which loads another movie in a defined movie clip, which by itself loads another movie or jpg within itself.

here is my working source to date. Can anyone nudge me in the right direction?

In this source I have deleted all the excess content from the site to make it more easy on the eye and on translating what is going wrong. I have also provided three examples of what I have tried to do.

In example "1" I have loaded a jpg successfully.

In example "2" I have loaded a swf successfully.

In example three (the desired result) I have unsuccessfully attempted to load a swf which loads a jpg into a movie clip in another part of movie "A".

Problem Loading Movie Into Movie Into Movie Ect.
Problem: I Have a Main movie swf. where my navigation is. In that swf. is a blank movie clip where all the external swf./acting as pages. load into it. On of the movies that loads into it has buttons that I have linked to other swf. files/ is it possible to click a button in a swf file to make it unload and load a swf. in a different movie?,,I know that sounds confusing. sorry.
Right now I am toying with the idea that its possible if the blankmc is in a shared library. or maybe some export the blank movie for run time sharing?...wich I haven't a clue on how to do.

A Movie In Side A Movie Inside Another Movie
Hi , i'm creating a website for a group and i'm pretty much done with it.

My problem is I have the first swf loading the second movie like frame - the next section of the site. In that second movie I have a dynamic list which I want to load another movie into. it work fine from the point 2->3 but not if i run it like it was a whole 1->2->3

I'm not sure if I have to do something more specific with the patch for the third movie or if flash is just not capable of it.

I'm pretty sure the problem is with the third movie. If I open the second movie (datagprogram) then the movie that loads into that works fine. but when I'm in the main movie (datag) the datagprogram movie loads but the third movie doesn't load properly.

I did have a conflict which I think I resolved so it works a little better but my link on the right hand side still doesn't come up and the program text loads in the wrong place. (this doesn't happen when you run the program movie seperately!)

any got any ideas?

Getting One Movie To Load A Movie Into A Seperate Movie.
I've been looking around, haven't founa nythign to help me out though. Not sure if it's a newbie question or whether it's even very possible. I'm designing a CSS layout and I have a flash movie as a menu, and then I have a flash movie as the conetent area. Say the menu had two buttons home and... gallery. What would happen is you would come to the page. and the content movie would load your home flash movie, easy enough! well what do I have to include in the gallery button to make it load the gallery movie into the content area. In other word how to I send a call from the menu to the content area telling it to loadmovie? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I know that it would make more sense to do the whole site in flash but I really like my layouts and I like flash so i'm trying to find a sort of middle ground.

I need help to understand how to make a movie loaded into another movie understand it´s relative position in the folder system on my server.
example:
A.swf is located i folder MAIN. B.swf located in folder B in folder MAIN loads into A.swf. Then I need to load 01.jpg located in folder PICT in folder B into B.swf without doing; URL: B/PICT/01.jpg but rather URL: PICT/01.jpg since B.swf is already in folder B.
As you understand I´m not the script guru. Grateful for hints on where to look to learn more about this!

Using A Button In A Movie Clip To Control The Movie(and Not Movie Clip) Timeline
Ok i have a button placed in a movie clip. I want this button, when released, to go in another scene, frame one, on the movie(scene) timeline and not on the movie clip timeline.

So i tried: gotoAndPlay("mission", 1); (mission is the name of my scene)

But it goes to the frame 1 of my movie clip, It would be great if someone could tell me how i can control the movie timeline while my button is in a movie clip

Loading Movie Into Main Timeline From Movie Clip Within Main Movie
Hi there,

I'm having major difficulties loading external SWF's into my main movie. The button actions are in a movie clip within the main movie. I've used the following AS to load in my external SWF files on higher levels:-

Similarly, my external text files are not loading!

Passing Variables From Loader Movie To Loaded Movie, Flash Satay Method
I like the Flash Satay method for its clean integration and standards-compliance, however there are still some things I can't manage the way I want to... I'm trying to implement a working method to pass variables from the loader movie to the loaded movie. As you may know, the Flash Satay method uses a small SWF file which uses a bit of code to load the desired movie, all in order to allow IE browsers to retain streaming capabilities when rendering Flash content through the <object> tag. Basically it's just a small file with the following AS2 code in the first frame:

loadMovieNum(path, 0);

This means the c.swf file is ENTIRELY replaced at level0 with the desired movie, and any variables that were passed to the loader movie turn to smoke.

I'm trying to generate a querystring using all other variables the loader movie receives, and pass that along with the filename for loadMovieNum. This seems to be working very well in most cases, but whenever there's a URL in the querystring (even URLEncoded), BAM, everything turns to lowercase... EVERYTHING... here's an example:

c.swf?path=banner.swf&myLifeSUCKS=true&Icantbelieve=ITSNOTBUTTER

this successfully loads banner.swf in place of c.swf, with the following correct querystring appended

banner.swf?myLifeSUCKS=true&Icantbelieve=ITSNOTBUTTER

If I try:

c.swf?path=banner.swf&clickTag=http://www.myurl.com/&ANOTHER=variable

this successfully loads banner.swf in place of c.swf, but I end up with lower-cased querystring (all of it!!):

banner.swf?clicktag=http://www.myurl.com&another=variable

what happens to my capital letters?? I need these to remain case-sensitive as there is no saying how the loaded movies are programmed. The generally accepted convention for "clicktag-enabled" banners is to use _root.clickTag as the link button's URL...

Even URL-encoding the URL doesn't change this

Having Problems Loading An External File Into A Blank Movie Clip In The Parent Movie.
alright I have a main swf. and there is an empty movie clip called window1.

I have an external swf that is loaded that contains the menu. i have the clip loaded into level 14.

i am having problems having the menu load an swf into the empty movie clip.

Code:

loadMovie("about.swf", _parent.window1, "GET");
}
in firefox, the code above loads the swf, but it replaces the menu. it does the same thing in ie.

Code:

loadMovieNum("contact.swf", _parent.window7, "POST");
}
and this bit of code makes the swf open in another browser tab in firefox, and in ie it replaces the whole parent movie.

I need the menu and the parent movie to stay intact.

i really need help with this asap.

Fast Forward And Rewind Buttons To Control Movie Clips AND Main Movie
I am creating a software training movie in Flash (MX). The main movie has text, sound and animations directly on the main timeline, and also includes external swfs (video screen captures) that are loaded dynamically into a movieclip target.

loadMovie("bkr_openpgm.swf", "mc_finvideo");

I'm not importing these videos because they can be quite large after importing (my video capturing software can export as swf and avi). I will never play more than one movieclip at a time (so I use the same movieclip to load all movies: mc_finvideo), and there can be many frames in between movie clips where there's only non-movieclip stuff going on on the main timeline.  After I finish playing a movie clip , I unload the movie from the movieclip using the following on the frame on the main timeline where the movieclip should end

mc_finvideo.unloadMovie()

I have play, pause, fast forward and rewind buttons on the main timeline that control the main movie just fine. The play and pause buttons also control the movieclip fine.

However, I'm having problems with the rewind and fast forward controlling the movieclip. The button logic works fine (moves play ahead or back 100 frames) UNLESS I click the rewind button at a point within 100 frames AFTER a movie clip has unloaded. Then (assuming the last movie clip was at least 100 frames long), the movie goes back to a frame where there should be a movie loaded, but of course there isn't, since the frame that loaded the movie clip wasn't hit.
Here's the code for the rewind button's on release event:

The fast forward button is similarly problematic -- if I click fast forward within 100 frames of a frame where a movie clip will load, the frame that the movie fast forwards to has no movie clip playing because the frame that loads the clip was skipped over.

Can anyone help me make this work? (Maybe I'm going about this whole thing the hard way?)

How To Create E-mail With Flash Movie Played On Arrival Automatically (movie Should B
Hi,
I am looking for simple but working solution to send Flash movie as a part of e-mail. I would like to send Flash movie with e-mail (part of e-mail itself or as attachment) and it should start playing as soon as message is downloaded. I was using HTML page as stationary (script was downloaded from the net, with embedded movie as object). It worked perfectly fine as long as I was sending email to myself and it played within Outlook or Netscape. But on other computers with appropriate player was installed nothing happened despite enclosing Flash movie to e-mail.
I believe that it should be simple solutions. Can anybody direct me to place where I find right script or advise how to point flash player to sent movie and make it play.

Movie Clip Runs Slow When There Are Multiple Movie Clips Running
Hi, Can someone help me out? I have made a flash where a movie clip containing text runs at the same time that a second movie clip runs (movie clip 2). I used function updateCursor() to replace the standard mouse symbol with the movie clip symbol (movie clip 2). After the scene runs a few times at the correct speed, everything within it slows down markedly, which I don't want. Why is this happening? Any ideas? I have actually seen something similar in Flash 5...but I can't figure out how to keep this from happening!!

My Flash file is huge. It is beyond 16,000 frames, the Flash size limit, as I was told. Therefore, it is not working ---my long narrations stop working. I have four scenes, so I came with a plan B to save my efforts on trying this file to work. I can break my Flash in 4 smaller files and then, call one from another. Is that possible?
How I do that? I will have a main file from with I will call the others. From a secondary file, can I come back to the main movie?
I looked at my action script book, but could not find a specific (or direct) statement about it.)

Is there an extension or particular method to get this to happen perfectly.

I have been opening browser windows and setting the dimensions manually in behaviours to the same as the movie dimensions, but its never right. Its often bigger.

there must be a way to do this so that its the same as the flash movie size pretty much cross-browser - its ok...i hold no hope for Netscape

Control The Play On The Main Timeline From Within A Loaded Movie (not A Movie Clip)?
Question... I have a movie (main movie) that loads another movie (movie 2) automatically. Movie 2 contains a button that loads yet another movie (movie3). Now I’m having trouble with this next part... When movie3 loads I want "main movie" to stop where it’s at in the timeline and stop all other loaded movies until the user clicks another button where upon movie 3 will go away and "main movie" will resume. Movie 2 is like the paper clip guy in Word and movie 3 is my help movie. Therefore, it can be accessed at any point during the main movie and I don’t want to use a goTo command to jump to a frame label or scene. Does anyone have any idea how to control the play on the main timeline from within a loaded movie (not a movie clip)?
