Where Can I Store A Swf. Flash File So It Can Be Fully Downloaded ?
Where can I store a swf. flash file so it can be fully downloaded to a persons computer?

The size of the file is 4.11 meg. It is a music video I just completed.

I want to find a place where I can

1)upload the file
2)link it to a page for it to be downloaded

Does anyone know where I can upload a swf. flash file so that people can download the full video?

Fully Flash Website (big Swf File)
hi all,

i have this swf file as big as 30mbs in one swf file..i play a lot with flash but i have 0 experience in webhosting.the flash file itself has 4 page (4 keyframe) in the _root. .so my question is if i were to upload an index page with this one swf file..will it load straight the 30mbs? so im sayng it will take quite some time to load.. or it will just by keyframe?

Does Flash Have Any Fully Automated Features?
Like reading An Imported Fireworks Page And Suggesting to the user(me) some of its most powerful cool features its noted for, and putting them in to action for me, sorry; I know that sounds lazy, but Im not a programmer, Im just a designer.

Fully Flash Site Problems
Any have any recommendations on how to make a site fully in flash?
I have found, so far, two methods-
1) using _root.xxx.loadMovie("xxx.swf"); command to load a movie in part of the frame
2) using goTo() to send you to a specific keyframe

It seems to me that option 1 is much more elegant and even easier but is this the best way?

BTW, I love this site- www.silverado-weblab.com . How does he go from page to page, could it be using loadMovie? I'm kinda lost...

Why Is There Aversion To Fully Flash Sites.
Why is there aversion to fully flash sites?
I know that everyone here has preferences as to how they code or design but I'm getting sent in circles.
Don't use html, use CSS
Don't use java script, Use flash.
Don't use flash, use ....
and so on.

Can anyone make an educated guess as to the use of flash, javascript etc. My main clients are small service businesses and visitors tend to be not as savvy as most people here in this forum.

What the best way to get stats on my visitors and their use of browsers and features enabled. Sure there are a lot of free counter out there. In fact there are so many that I have no idea what is the best idea. What is your favorite?

Flash Not Fully Loaded? Hmmm, Check It Out.
I have finished a site with a preloader. Sometimes when folks visit the site, after the movie is loaded it just shows like 2 buttons and the rest is blank. A simple refresh quickly restores this, but I need to know why it doesnt fully load, or seems to fully load but requires a refresh once and a while.

Fully Contained Flash Website - Problems
Hi all,

Basically, I've designed this website:

However there are a few problems I've got with it.

1) The site takes FAR too long to load
- There are minimal things I can do to combat this bar reduce photo quality, but this leads to sub par quality images.

2) The overall design is far too simple for my liking.
- I'm going to do a rehaul to redesign it and jazz it up a bit more.

3) I'm not amazing at Flash, as I just do this every now and again for fun, and have never delved into the depths of actionscript or anything.

4) There is no centralisation, which is a minor problem but before anyone points it out, and there is no non flash alternative which I will be working on once I've done the basics of the new site.

I'm looking at a time frame of a week in which I want to redesign this website and overcome the problems I've got.

For the new site I'm looking to do something different. At the moment the images are being loaded through the .swf - which means the size of the file is over 5mb.

What I'd like to do to reduce this size down dramatically it use the 1st index page to load all the jpgs onto the server, then use a flash document as a shell, which literally just takes the images from the server, puts it into its own frame and shows the image that way, rather than saving the full image in the swf.

This is probably quite complex, and would require some sort of script, so if anyone knows of any tutorials for this, I'd be grateful if you could send it my way.

Secondly, in terms of jazzing it up I'm going to be redesigning the buttons, and making things a bit more interactive. If the shell idea works, this would allow me to make things more interactive as it won't be as large.

Any ideas etc would be brilliant.

Uploaded Flash Page Not Fully Loading
I created a Flash document that contains 6 hidden FLV files that reveal and play with a mouse rollover on respective text. The file tests perfectly well. However, when I upload all FLV files, as well as the respective SWF and HTML files, and then access the site on the web, I can't get all six video files to fully load. Sometimes all but two of the video files load, other times only three, other times only two. Is this a function of having too much data in one Flash document so that my server can't handle it all? The 6 FLV files range from a maximum of 12 Mgs, to 4 mg--perhaps 25 mgs total.

Fully Flash Website Hosting Problem
i have create a fully flash website and already put into the web. My flash file size is 40MB++. The problem now, when people trying to open the website, it is too slow to loading the flash. Sometimes it can take about 30 minute or more to let the flash play. It the any suggestions that i can do to make it more faster? or is there any effect if i get the hosting package with the high bandwidth?? what is the minumum bandwidth should i use?

Video Files Not Opening Fully In Flash?
Hi, need some help. I'm a flash animator and I am currently rotascoping some animation using mpeg imported from my dv cam. The whole file is seen in edit, but only a few frames actually show on the time line, even when expanded.
Other formats open fine?Any ideas?

[Flash 8] Swfs Appearing Before Fully Loaded?
I'm having a strange problem while preloading external swfs. I have about 6 external swfs that load whenever their respective button is clicked. Each swf will have a short animation that builds the page. Initially, i was testing the swfs with the full page assembled on frame 1.

Everything worked as it should until i started building the animations. Now, instead of the animation starting when the swf is fully loaded, it starts when the preloader is around 60%. This happens everytime at 60%. If I take the animation off and go back to 1 frame, it shows up when it's supposed too, at 100% loaded. I thought i could get around it by putting a stop on the first frame and telling the swf to play with onLodInit(), but it still shows up early with the stop() on frame 1. Just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this weird problem?

Fully Justifying Device Fonts In Flash
How do you fully justify device fonts in Flash?

Every other text format seems to work fine, you can left justify, right justify, even centre them... but not fully justify them it would seem. It looks okay in the editor but when published or previewed, it reverts back to left justification!!
I've tried using system fonts, but this has the same problem.

Entire Flash Movie Not Playing Fully In All Browsers
Hey there,
I launched a flash site this morning and then discovered that the movie isn't playing in it's entirety in all browsers. It plays perfectly in Firefox but stops half way in IE and Safari.

I checked to see if I had any stops in the code but couldn't find anyway. When I do a test movie it looks fine.

Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?

Flash Audio That Begins Playing Before Fully Donwloaded?
I'm trying to help a friend add flash audio to his website. The problem is that the file won't play until the whole thing is loaded...he uses a so called squeeze page and many people will leave the site before the audio is fully loaded so they'll never hear the message.

Coding Needed For Pre-loader So Two Flash Movies Fully Load

Does anyone know what code I'll need for my pre-loader so that the main base flash movie loads, plus the other one which is being called into the movie at it's first frame as loadMovie. I want both of these movies to load fully before we go from the pre-loader to the full flash. Here is my code for the pre-loader so far:

Media Files Prevent Flash From Fully Loading External XML File
Im trying to debug a flash widget we created, and it loads fine on the 20 odd computers we tested on EXCEPT for one computer where, the application doesn't load an external XML file that calls for 3 small mp3 files and a FLV file to load as well.

In a debugger, we noticed that when it tried to load these mp3 files it was getting a Forbidden access message. The FLV just prevents the FLV player from showing up at all (not even the skin).

Can anyone figure out why, that it would work over all the other computers and NOT the one? On that person's computer, we tried it in IE, Firefox, even Chrome and the application doesn't load. We even cleared the cache, did a hard refresh and still nothing.

However, the other computers work just fine.

ALL the computers have the latest Flash software installed.

What could cause this problem?

Php In Flash E-store?

I have a theoretical question about constructing a e-store in flash. There are some free ready-made shopping cart systems for flash that use PHP. Why exactly is the PHP script used? To avoid running out of stock?

Im not very comfortable with PHP, so I wonder if it is possible to make a simple shopping cart system using variables. For example after pushing a button “add to cart” the price and quantity is added to certain vars, that can be used afterwards to send the client the bill via mail.

I would like to offer clients to choose between “bill to mail” and bank link. Could somebody also tell if the var system can be implemented in the “bank link” system with SSL security and stuff? I will hire a programmer to do the bank link system just don’t want to run into unpleasent surprises when the programmer will take a look at my var system and start laughing.

Can Flash Store Files Within Itself?
Hi i have an SWF which plays mp3s from a remote server. The mp3s are generated by the server and updated on an irregular basis. What I'd like the SWF to do is play the mp3 from the server only when the mp3 is new i.e. not updated. I've made a text file with a timecode in it, when the mp3 is updated the timecode is updated also, the SWF will check the text file if the timecode is different to the previous timecode then i want it to go to the server and play the new mp3 BUT if the timecode is the same I'd like it play a cached version of the mp3 i.e. not go to the server at all hence making the server do less work.

So really my question is can you play an mp3 from a server and get the flash to store it so if you want to play it again you dont play it from the server?

right i think that all makes sense, hope someone can help.

Best Way To Store Data In Flash?
I'm having trouble figureing out the best way to store data. I'm creating a Flash application for work and basically it's a module to add a medication to a patients chart. There is a screen with drug name, drug class, dosage, etc. I want to hold this data in an array and then take that data and apply it to a data grid. I've done this without the array, but I wanted to use the array because I need to use this data in other ways.

Say I have 4 fields:
Drug Name
Drug Class
Drug Dosage
Reason Taking

Would it be best to have 4 arrays; one for each type of field and then if I want say drug number 5 look at the 5th position in each array?

Best Method To Store A Database Using Flash ?
Hi, I need to store a huge database with many member's Name, ID, Country, Favourites, School, etc. I will need to do some searching and sorting to arrange them in correct sequence. Currently, I have been trying to store all my data into one .XML file. And when I need them, I will search & sort through my database to retrieve those data that I want. Is using this method good and is it fast enough to get what I want?? Or anyone got better recommandation for me??

*My database might grow as huge as ten of thousand. I dont need to download any data through internet (~Mine is a standalone software on a PC)

Making A Store Site In Flash
Well like the title says, im making a site to sell stuff. I'll be selling knives and the like, irrelevant. My question is, can i have a goup of items and set attributes to it like a class, like military or kitchen, brand and price? Furthermore when i do select military or kitchen or a particular brand or price range, select those that apply and list them? Additionaly, if one seleced to buy an item, could something like a stock number or something be strored somewhere for the checkout. I plan to have the stored items to be taken out and put in a new ie checkout window thing. First post so i apologize if its in the wrong spot. By the way im using Flash MX 2004.
