Flash :: Fuzzy Buttons

Fuzzy Flv What Gives?
I created a video and converted to flv high quality and it looks fuzzy and edges are jagged. I put up the data rate to ridiculously high value and it still didn't help. My original video file looks beautiful. Nice edges and everything. But the high quality .flv looks horrible.

I have tried streaming it, embedding it in timeline, importing the .mov file and converting within flash. I tried an uncompressed .avi. I tried using it with an alpha channel. I tried converting a .png sequence to .avi and then to .flv. I tried different codecs for quicktime (jpeg, animation). Nothing at all works. Video still looks bad as an flv.

When I import the .png sequence into flash the images look great.

Can anyone help??

Text Is Fuzzy
Hi there,

I'm currently building a Flash site in MX but I'm having a problem with the text looking a bit fuzzy...

I've tried using different fonts, turning Anti-aliasing on and off and positioning the text on exact pixels (eg. 5.0 instead of 5.2) but none of this seems to have made a difference.

Is there something I'm missing here?!?!

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Working on a site with a lot of static text. Originally the site was done in Flash 5. When I saved it as Flash 6, the text changed in appearance and looks larger and fuzzy. I'm just using Arial - nothing unusual and I have Adobe Type Manager installed. The text has been made into symbols. So I have no clue!!! pleaase halp.

Fuzzy Publishing
Does anyone know why my flash looks fuzzy when I do previews? curved lines that are supposed to be a hairline wide go weird, and text typed in at lower than 10pt becomes hard to read due to the fuzz. Why is this only happening to me? I see lots of sharp, crisp flash sites, and I can't get mine to do that!

How can I keep my text sharp and clear. I noticed that when i create text in flash and go to publish it it is all fuzzy and not clear.. i see these sites where they have text extremely small and its still amazingly clear as a bell.... here is my site you will see what i mean by the text being fuzzy

Fuzzy Letters
Most of the time when I use Arial anti-aliased font at 10px, it turns fuzzy when I play the movie. Anyone know what causes this, and/or how to stop it from happening, because it's getting really annoying with the site I'm working on.

Fuzzy Fonts?
The font on my About me and Travels page is fuzzy? I placed the starting position of X and Y at zero - this is the same method I used on my navigation bar.

Any ideas?

I've had this problem before, but I've never known how to get rid of it... It happens whenever I insert text.. it just becomes fuzzy. How do I make it clear and crisp??

Actually, I have fuzzy images on my site. I've finally managed to program it, and everything seems to be working correctly. Now the problem is that some of the images in the portfolio section are terribly fuzzy/pixelled/blurry... Any suggestions?

Mac Font Looks Fuzzy
Hi made a flash file where i load all the text from an xml file. I embeded the font in flash.
It looks perfect on a pc but on a mac the text is fuzzy and when you use a break tag in the xml file the text looks lika it uses another fontface. The kerning is also funny, it can differ on some part of the text.

If I set the text to static its all fuzzy unless I zoom in. if its dynamic its perfect.

i have flash mx. i created text in century gothic, size 10, which should be a crisp font and easy to read. but instead, it appears fuzzy no matter what i do.

i have looked at the altering the settings of my screen to a 1024x768, but it doesn't do anything either.

Fonts Look Fuzzy
Whenever I use text in Flash, the letters look fuzzy like there is a blur on them. What am I doing wrong?

I am looking for a solution so that dynamic text in Flash is not "fuzzy" - that is make it look as the static text, but also be capapble of tweening. Is that possible in Flash 8? Or at least in MX / MX 2004?

Fuzzy Match
This was writen with inspiration from Senocular's array matcher on http://proto.layer51.com. It happened to be the first post I read on this NICE site. But yah, it's 4:30 AM...

What this function does is compare any two... anythings... and tell you if they match. It loops through every element in every element, meaning that you can have massively constructed multidimensional arrays with objects in them with properties of arrays... whatever.. and the function will return true or false if all the element match, even if they are out of order. For example:

[[1,2,3],[4,5,6],7]
[[4,7,6],7,[3,2,1]] will return true but

[1,2,3,4,5,6,7]
[1,2,3,4,5,[6,7]] will not.

[[1,"2",3],[4,5,6],7]
[[4,7,6],7,[3,2,1]] won't either because it type matches

I hope to write much more action script; while I'm quite familular with other langauges, I have just started AS.

Why is it when ever I draw a shape, whether it be a square or circle, with an outline, the outline looks fuzzy and not crisp. I've made sure the shape had whole values for size and x,y placement, just like you would do with text and when I look at it at 100% it look bad. Any suggestions,

I have trouble sometimes when I create a button, movie, and graphic. Whenever I create one it sometimes makes the symbol look fuzzy. I just wanted to know if anyone have encountered this problem and if there is a solution. It doesn't do it all the time so I am a little confused with this problem. Please... I need help.

Why does my text look fuzzy on my web page? I've experimented with many different fonts, colors, backgrounds yet it never looks crisp like you might find on most sites including FlashKit.

Printing Fuzzy In MX. Anyone Have Some Ideas?
Alot of my clients want to print their pages from flash, and they always print out fuzzy.

Can anyone give me some pointers on fixing this problem?

Also they want to print the whole page, and it just prints what is on the screen.

Everyone has come through for me before, I hope you can help now.

my problem is a simple one, my text is showing up 'fuzzy'.

the facts

- fuzzy when i type it right in;
- fuzzy when it is programmed in with actionscript;
- sometimes it gets fuzzy ONLY on a certain line (eg line 3);
- i am NOT 'bolding' and or 'italicizing' the text;
- it happens with Arial, Tachoma, _sans, Frutus T, Verdana ,...;
- size doesnt matter;

Fuzzy Pixel Fonts Help
I am using size 8, embedding the font, all for a dynamic text box and the text comes out fuzyy. I got the font from FFF and originally hadn't embedded the font, until I found out that the flash was only showing up on my machine. I have snap to pixel on and I have tried everything to get it to unfuzzy. Please HELP!

Hairline Line Looking Fuzzy?
hello all,
i know for a fact i'm using a hairline lines for a rectangle (located on level2) but when i publish the movie, the rectangle looks like it's been drawn using a brush with a width of 1 or 2.

i've made sure that the coordinates of the movies are integer values and the rectangular lines have widths and heights of integers. suggestions?

When ever I type on the movie the text comes out fuzzy, but text in the text box is crisp, is there any way to change this?

Fuzzy Lines When Drawing?
Suppose I'll post in this forum. Sometimes I'll draw a simple line and curve it to make a picture. Sometimes the lines look perfectly smooth and other times they come out looking all fuzzy. Is there something that can be done about this or is this just me screwing something up . Here is a pic of a recent drawing with the fuzzy lines. It's not the file saving format issue because this pic is a screenshot of what it looks like in flash.

Does it have something to do with that or a conflicting version of flash player? Do I need to optimize through Fireworks or something? Not really sure what else to try.

[F8] Fuzzy Video In Flash 8
I have an .avi file that I have imported into Flash using the "Embed video in SWF and play in timeline" as opposed to "progressive download from a web server", because I need to edit the piece first. I've compressed the video using Sorenson Spark codec. Two things...if my flash document was 12 fpc and I'm importing video at 30 fps, am I better off syncronizing to the Flash document, or changing the fps of the flash document to match the 30 fps of the video? Also why does my video appear to have much less quality once imported than the original .avi file played in Quick Time Player?

Pixel Font Looks Fuzzy?

I'm using FFF Galaxy at 8pts in Flash MX. It looks fine on screen, but when I export as an swf, it appears ant-aliased?

How is this? Any ideas how to stoip this?

Pixel Fonts Fuzzy In 7 But Not 8?
I'm having the strangest problem. When I load in an MC containing pixel fonts, like so:

The text ends up coming blurry. When I test "mca_news" on its own, the text is clear as day. When I load it directly into the _root, sharp as a razor. But when I load it into an empty or attached MC, it ends up looking like crap. And believe me, I've checked, rechecked and triple-checked the positioning on all the elements and made sure it was all pixel-perfect.

When I publish in 8 it doesnt have this problem. Its only when I publish to 7. Help!

Fuzzy Type For 2 Years Now
I've been fighting fuzzy type for 2 years now on buttons especially. They are static text, perfectly on even coordinates, anti alias off (the sharper way). Certainly others must know the final answer on this by now? Please

Image Fuzzy After Rotation
I need to load an external photograph picture and then rotate it 10 degrees after loading it. It's a photo, so of course it's a bitmap. Once the pic has been rotated, it looks really bad in flash. Are there any filters or settings anywhere that I can apply to the image to make it look better after the rotation? I've tried jpgs and pngs, and they both look equally bad. Any other format that might do better? Thanks!

Fuzzy Rastor Images
I'm confused. Sometimes (seems like most of the time here lately) when I import a rastor image into flash, when I test the movie it looks fuzzy. I noticed if I change the size at all (either up or down even in the slightest) this happens. But I've even seen it happen when I didn't change the size of the image. Am I crazy? Why can't I get my rastor images to look good?

for some reason, all vertical lines in my FLA look fuzzy, i'm using a hair line width, yet they look thicker and blurred, they are all on solid coordinates..

Fuzzy Text Problem
i was wondereing if anyone can help me with this i have purchased a flash pixel font from miniml and have used it across my site.

the problem i seem to get in places is that the text in some areas looks fuzzy not as clear as it should do, i will use the font in one position on the same page and it will look fine ( nice and clear as it should ) i then say use it underneth the first one and that one will look slightly fuzy just not as clear as the others.

im confused can any one help, i also get the same problem on some input fields as well, but just to let you know i have embeded the font for the input fields.

it also is not dependant on font it will happern with standard fonts as well

How Would I Achieve Fuzzy TV Effect?
OK this is difficult to explain I dont even know where to start but this is what I want to acheive I want to have like a monitor on the stage and the fuzzy effect you know like when a TV channel isnt responding and then when you click on a button a picture appears there and then when you click a different button it goes to a transition like to the fuzzy effect then into the next picture and so on for each button, does anyone know how I would do this?

Fuzzy Buttons

I seem to be having a possible variation of the fuzzy font problem. Whenever I test a movie, the "over state" of my buttons appear fuzzy. This does not happen on the stage when simple buttons are enabled. It only happens when I test the movie. Any ideas what the problem/solution might be?
