As may be self evident I am not an expert..... Is it possible for a button (or series of buttons) on one page which, when clicked, opens another html page with an embedded swf movie and then goes to a specific frame in that movie ??? If that makes sense

Specific Html Page Triggers Specific Frame Of The Flash Movie
I have been playing with flash and html and wonder if any of you have a bright idea on how to do this.
I have a flash movie, which I call from html but depending on which part of the html page I call it from I want to start it at a particular frame and not always from the beginning.
I have created a variable within the movie in action script and given it a different value for each of the frames I want to start the movie at, and want now to designate the value I give to that within html so that the movie “jumps” to the correct frame. Is this possible or am I totally crazy??
Opening New Page To A Specific Frame
I am still learning Action Script but I have a problem with writing the full script for combing navigate to new URL and gotoAndPlay. More specifically what I want to do is use a button which when clicked will open a new page and then start playing my Flash movie at a certain frame on the Timeline. I have used buttons to navigate to a new URL and used the gotoAndPlay ( ) ; command to play a certain frame, both have been successful but when I combine the two I run into trouble. What happens is the new page loads correctly and goes to the specific frame but then opens the browser in a new window with the movie playing from the beginning. The correct sequence within the correct Webpage is playing but only if I close the current page, in other words what I am trying to achieve is running but in the background.

Link To Specific Frame From Html Page

I'm trying to figure out how it is possible to link into a flash movie - from a regular html link.
i have five images, representing five steps. image one is fine because it links to an html page with the swf file on it and the movie opens and plays starting at step one.
but my second image needs to go the the swf file step2 (frame label) and not to the beginning of the movie to play.
is this at all possible?

Hello. Does anyone know how to link to an html page with an swf file on it and have the swf open up to a certain frame number or frame label? as oppossed to opening at the beginning.
I divided my swf into five parts and i'm representing those parts on an html page and i have to have each part open to its corresponding section in the flash movie instead of just opening up the flash movie at the beginning.

GetURL Into A Specific Frame Of An HTML Page
I want to switch html pages that are loaded into specific frames in a browser window out side the main window that the flash movie is in.
In other words:
I click a button in the flash movie that is located in the Main window of a framed window and I want it to change out the html page in the Top, Bottom or Side frames. Without opening a new window.
Can I do this using the getURL command and if so how do I specify the
designated frame in the window?
I tried coping the same code that I am using in HTML now.
But it only opens a new window instead of just loading the html page in to the designated frame.
BELOW IS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT I AM TRYING TO ACHEIVE AND NOT .
YOU WILL SEE A RED TOP AND A FLASH BLACK BUTTON.
CLICK THE BUTTON AND A NEW WINDOW OPENS WITH A GREEN TOP.

I want to use a swf file as the navigation tool in html, I decided to use a frameset. but I can't get the Flash buttons work as planned.

I was wondering if you could help me with this:
I have a scene in a flash documents (the only scene called Scene 1)
In the scene I have a page called Page, then i have an movie clip called object_1, which inside has another movie clip object_2 and this clip has another movie clip, called object_3 which has a button that, when you click on it, is supposed to go and play frame 2 inside object_1.
How can I do that?
Been struggling for few hours now and I'm a bit like this now

I know this issue has been dealt with before but I'm still really stuck, if anyone can help I'd be very grateful.
I want to get my swf to open at a specific frame when the page is opened. I know it involves Javascript and I've been to plenty of sites but I can't get it to work. Does anyone have an example script of this exact proceedure?

Is it possible to link to a specific part of my flash movie from an html page. Is there any way to link to a frame number or label? The site is html based, but the intro/home page is flash. I don't want users to have to see the intro every time they go back to the home page from somewhere else within the site. Is there something that I can append to my link on my html page to make it go to a specific frame in the swf?

Please could someone assist - I have an HTML frameset with a leftFrame and mainFrame. My navigation has been built in Flash and the SWF is embedded in the leftFrame. The pages that the nav link to need to load in the mainFrame.
I have gone through your tutorial "Flash & HTML Frames" but unfortunately it doesn't work - it opens a new window.

Hi there,
I am a newbie to Flash actionscript and there is a particular thing which i am wanting to achieve.
I'm building a menu in flash which is to be placed on a HTML page. I'm wanting to pass variables from the HTML page to the movie and tell the movie to play a specific frame.
Now, i have managed to add a variable of page to a dynamic text box, which displays the page variable from the HTML. For example - when my page is default.asp?pagenum=1 my flash movie reads the variable and displays a number "1" in my movie. So, in essence, i have already passed the variable.
However, what i'm actually wanting to achieve is for the movie to go and play a particular frame according to the page number, not display it within the text.
Does anyone know how i can go about doing this?
Like i say, i am very much a newbie to actionscript, so i need things explaining very basic terms!

Loading A Specific Frame In Another Movie-clip
Hello,
I have the main menu in a movie-clip called first.swf. Then I have the whole site content in another movie-clip, second.swf. Depending on what choise the visitor makes in the menu, I want a specific frame of second.swf to be loaded.
Is this possible, and if so how is it easiest achieved? I don't want to split up second.swf into several smaller swf:s.

Specific Frame Rate Change To Clip?

I am currently testing out a new menu system for my web site www.aidanmack.co.uk
.... the menu is the odd shape towards the top left.
I am pleased with how it works un stuff however it does take a while for it open and close fully. and as it was built in swift its not just a case of simply changing the motion tween (its all individual frames).
I can go to properties and alter fps rate but this alters the whole site. is their anyway of just changing that specific movie clip?

Hey, Im trying to create a tile based world and have all of my tiles in sequential frames within one movie clip. I seem to be having problems getting certain tiles to diplay in the right place. The movieclip name is tile. This is what i currently have:

AddEventListener To Specific Frame In A Movie Clip
Hello wise coders, I need your help.
I have test_mc in root. I click on test_mc, test_mc plays up to frame 5.
In frame 5, there's a button called test_btn.
I'm trying to attach addEventListener to this button in frame 5.
Code:
test_mc.test_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, testClick);
This doesn't work because the playhead is in Frame 1 before it can attach this event. This is the error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
I don't want to put any code in Frame 5 of test_mc to keep all the code in root. Any way to work this out or around it?

From a Different Movie Clip, I need an actionscript for the button to jump to a different Movie clip. In the movie clip, i've got 2 scene. Therefore, i need it to jump to a specific scene and to a specific frame number.

I need to enable a series of buttons to activate specific frames within a movie clip. I am using the Flash MX 2004 tutorial book, but cannot find any reference to changing arguments for timeline control.
This is the basic button command I'm using:

How To I Get A Button To Print A Specific Frame On A Clip? (Using Flash MX 6)
Hi,
I have this script on a button, which is on the last frame (130) of a movie. I want it to print the last frame of the movie (the movie is one level down from the main timeline).
I tried this:

You would think that would do it.
The instance name of the movie is "sydneyCar". Remember, it's the last frame of that movie that I want to be printed, but for some weird reason when I go to print, it wants to print out 20 pages (which is the first 20 frames of that movie) instead of the frame that I'm specifying in the code!!!
Has anybody gone through this before???? Can anybody lend a hand??? MASSIVE appreciations if you can.

I´ve looked in the forum for threads regarding playing a flash timeline backwards. As a matter or fact, I´ve found plenty of them... However, all of them just teaches us how to tell flash to go from the last frame to the first frame of the movie. What I need is to find a whay to tell flash to run backwards to a specific frame.

I know it's possible using the goto commands to call specific frames, and I'm wondering if it is possible to call a movie to the _root level and then target a loaded clip, then a frame inside said clip?
ex: inside mc1, you want to click a button to follow this path - go to the _root, load mc2, but load it at frame 2.

How Do I Make A Specific Frame Of A Movie Clip Display?
I have a project for which I'm making subtitles for the narration, with the ability for the user to turn them on or off.
I made the subtitles, covered them with a rectangle the same color as the background, and made a button which toggles between "SHOW TITLES" and "HIDE TITLES" -- when "SHOW TITLES" is selected the rectangle becomes invisible so you can see the titles, when "HIDE TITLES" is selected the rectangle hides the titles. The default is for the rectangle to be visible and the titles, therefore, hidden. (A script in the first frame sets the visibility of the rectangle to false)
The problem is that the project is organized into 8 separate scenes, and so when it goes to a new scene, it was reverting to the default. So, I had the button create a variable, and then put a new script in the first frame of each new scene that checks for that variable and shows or hides the titles as required. So now the titles stay visible or invisible, but when it goes to a new scene the wrong button is displayed (the "SHOW" and "HIDE" buttons are in a 2-frame movie clip)
How do I make the proper button show up?
There must be a script to have the movie clip display a specific frame, but I don't know what it is.

Telling A Movie Clip To Play Until A Specific Frame
For instance, i have 5 buttons, so when you press the first button the movie clip should play from its first position to a second position and stop, then if you press the 2nd button, the mc should play from the second position til its third position and stop so on...

I am fairly new to action script so I am trying to animate this piece with frames.
Basically, I have adrop down menu, which contains about 20 buttons. Each button is set to _root.Keys_MC.gotoAndPlay("frame label"); a specific from within the Keys_MC which is on the main timeline.
The problem is, no matter which one I click, it always links me to the first frame of that movie clip. Does anyone know a solution to this problem??? Any help/suggestions would be awesome.

I've been working on this problem on and off for weeks now, and am hoping I could get some assistance, as it is driving me batty and my deadline is quickly approaching. Here is the basic setup:
I am creating a Flash webpage. I created a Flash movie with 6 frames, with a movie clip on each frame, each movie clip being a single page of the website. What I would like to do is have button within one movie clip (say a button in the movie "contact" which is frame 5 of the main movie) link to a frame within another movie clip (say frame 3 called "project3" within the movieclip "portfolio" which is frame 2 of the main movie).
With all my efforts, I am only able to get the button to go to and play the called movie clip at frame 1, and no other frame number or label.
I have tried codes such as the following:
on (release){
this._parent.portfolio.gotoAndStop("project3");
}
on (release){
_root.portfolio.gotoAndStop("project3");
}
... and countless other options, but nothing seems to work. I would greatly appreciate any assistance with this matter. For the record, I admittedly do not know much Flash and am learning most of this on my own with a small base knowledge from a design class I took years ago using UltraDelv! Please let me know if I need to go into further detail.

Hi, I have thirteen scenes, each one has 2 frames, one with audio (loadSound) one without. What's the best way to tell flash when a user clicks on a nav button (which calls a scene) to go to the 1st or 2nd frame of the scene depending on if the previous scene was playing the 1st or 2nd frame?

How To Load Specific Frame Of Specific Movie On Another Layer
Here's my setup:
Layer 0 = main movie
Layer 1 = navigation movie
Layer 2 = products.swf
Using a button located on Layer 1 (that contains navigation.swf), I need to load on Layer 2 the products.swf, and it needs to land on frame 54 of that movie.
I'm fairly illiterate r.e. ActionScript, so go gentle on me, please, LOL

Tell Frame To Change If A Specific Frame Combination Is Loaded

You can see that when a different munk-e color is selected and you have his ear extentions on(bottom left in the piercings menu)that the colors dont match.
So.... when the color movie/orange frame is selected and the earring movie/ear extensions frame is selected then the orange frame will tell the earrings movie to go to the correct corrisponding color earring.
Man I hope this makes sense, it barely does to me.

Help Load A Movie (and Frame) On A Specific Frame In My Timeline
I need to Load a movie and go to a specific frame within that loaded movie.
I know how to do this "on press & release" commands but how do I get it to load when a certain frame is reached in my timeline.
Example. When finished preloading it plays frame 25. When it gets to frame 25 I wan't a movie to load and start on a certain frame.

Help: How To Go To Specific Frame Automatically When Hit A Certain Frame?
Im trying to make a project where i have a set of picture "destination" and when you click on a button on that picture, it takes you through a series of pictures that plays automatically, but when it finishes, I want it to go back to a different picture destination automatically that wouldn't be the frame right after the one that just played.
All I know is how to go to different frames with buttons with the onrealease gotoandstop/play stuff but don't know how to make them go to a frame when playing without the use of a button. please help!
Go To A Specific Page In A Pdf From Flash?
Is it possible to go directly to a specific page in a pdf file? The getURL command is fine to go to the first page, but from there the viewer would have to scroll thru the document.
Anybody got a fix? How about a clue?
Displaying Specific PDF Page
Greetings, Flash users--I am new to the world of Flash, and have gleaned several goodies from reading other posts in the Newbie forum. With the assistance there, I was able to build my Flash presentation to open a PDF with no trouble.
Here's the kicker..the full PDF I will eventually use is 546 pages long. It is divided into very specific sections. I have been able to trick the system by inserting a "fake" PDF page at the very front. I created it in Word, made it a PDF page, then created links from it to the various "jump points" in the large file. However, when I want to go to a different section, I must go all the way back to my Flash scene that gets me to the linking PDF page. My potential clients are not guaranteed to be well versed in Acrobat that I can count on them using the bookmarks once they open the file.
SO..I am wondering if there is a way to create a link directly from within the Flash scene to the 4 specific points in my PDF where sections begin.

Opening To Specific PDF Page On A CD
I have a Flash Projector that opens a PDF on a CD to a specific page, and this seemed to work fine in IE6. With IE7, I can no longer open to the specific page. If the PDF resides on a web server, I can go to the exact page, but not if the PDF resides on a CD. Can anyone help me here? I've checked out JStart, but I don't see how that opens to specific pages, and reading their forums has not been encouraging.

Targeting A Specific Page Within A Pdf...

So, the ever present problem of a customer insisting on a Flash CD-rom, but wants it to contain lots of text (.doc files and .pdf files). Preferrably, of course, everything should be inside of Flash, but I gave up on that idea pretty soon. Launching the application which is associated with the file your trying to open is not the problem, but my real question is:
If I want to launch a .pdf file, thus launching AcrobatReader from my Flash.exe, is it possible to make AcrobatReader straight away jump to a specific page within the .pdf file?
I have been hearing a lot about the Flashjester range of tools, and they sound great, but I would rather not use any third party applications for this, if possible (And before I get the O.K. to purchase new Software here...let's just say, delivering this CD-rom project in 2008 would not do it for the customer...)

If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. I'm working on a piece that uses code to open acrobat from a button within flash. Works fine except I'd like to open it to a specific page if possible and I'm wondering if there is some sort of command line I could add in or something to that extent.
Flash Jester and Adobe Acrobat forum seem to say it's not possible but I wondered if any Flashers out there may have beat the system.

Bookmarking To Target Specific Page
I am developing a distance learning course using flash and now the client told me that the user must be able to close out (or if they get kicked out) be able to log back into the course and continue where they left off. I am not sure if this can be done or not. I use Cold fusion and sql2000 so I would think there would be a way to pass the page to the database and then call it again upon login. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have had a hard time finding anything on this.

Need To Redirect Page To Specific URL (Beginner - Please Help)

Forgive me if this is not the place to place this question, but I'm not sure where else to put it.
I have very little knowledge of actionscripting and I have a flash component that displays a gallery of images. It works great, I just need to modify it so that it takes you to a specific website when you click on the enlarged image.
