I am trying to make a gradient as my background color, and I was curious if there is any way to do that. It radiates the color yellow into mostly orange, but the problem is, if I draw a rectangle over the stage and do it, when I publish, I get an ugly white border around it. I just want to make it all a gradient.

How do I do this?

Gradient Backgrounds In Full Screen
This has been puzzeling me for days now. Can anyone help me please. After seening a website recently, www.fabrislane.com, I have been wanting to recreate the way the background gradient is changed at every section, and it is also full screen. Those of you how think you can help me out must checkout this site to really see what I mean.

Any info at all would be grand.

From Gradient Dynamic Text, To Gradient Dynamic Image.
Earlier I had a huge struggle getting to be able to place a gradient on Dynamic text, where the text is entered using Action Script. I figured it out though. Now I am wanting to place a gradient fade on a Dynamic Image, using loadMovie.

Here is the code I used for Dynamic Text Gradient

I tried to change it to loadMovie, and place a jpg image into the same folder as the .swf but it isnt gradienting. I get the image, just no gradient. Some help would be much appreciated.

THE PROB:im makin a animation where a guy is drunk and hits a tree.i want to put a moral at the end saying not to drink and drive.wen its over i want the next keyframe to be black and the writing white.but when i add a key frame then try to change the background colour so i can write the moral,the background for all the other frames turns black 2

Just building a site. I know it is not strictly flash, but how do I achieve the sort of background that can be seen on e.g http://www.mandchou.com (go in to the main site, the face type thing).

Is this done on an external program and then imported into Flash?

If so, what are the file size implications?

Although I've used flash a bit, this is the first time I've brought it into dreamweaver - just a tiny, simple Logo. I've tried a zillion things in both Flash and dreamweaver and still the initial background is WHITE - YUK! Since the page background is not white this really stands out even though it's just for a second. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Here's the site:

Can't Get Rid Of Backgrounds
I have created some graphics in paint shop pro that I wish to use in my flash movie, However I can't seem to be able to get rid of the white backgrounds that come with them. Is there any simple way of doing this. Please help!

I have a website with mulitple scenes. Each page of the site needs to have a different background. I have my manin page complete with the navigation menu with the background I want. I am trying to set it up so when I click to another page, it loads a nerw background in but keeps the navigation and website graphic in the same spot. Is it possible to just load a background picture into the scene and leave everything else aloe. Everytime I try loadmovie, it overlays everything and presents just the background graphic. I have tried with movieclips, levels, etc and nothing seems to work.

I am very new to flash..I am able to do basic animations etc, but I am having trouble with my background. I want a plain black background. How do I achive this? Is there a way of automatically changing the background colour or do I have to use the rectange tool and fill to the size of the scene?

Ok i love flash, and i want to be an animator, i recently received a graphics tablet from my uncle, the only catch was i had to make him some animations,i havn't yet-i feel bad, but unfourtunatly i am still getting there and i said that i would be able to draw backgrounds like outa bitey of brackenwood, but i can't i need help. Hey everyone!

I've only just joined Kirupa coz my boyfriend (Lewwy) has also got me interested in Flash - so I'm just a 'beginner'.

I just wondered how to fill the whole stage with a background when using just a small tile. Is there any way to do this without repeatly putting the small tiles in place?

Can you help? I'm just starting out with Flash and getting to grips with it, so apologises if this question has been asked before.

I have created my project and added layers. i have one layer with a background image in it. How do i get the image to appear in all the layers?

Do i need to copy and paste the image into all the layers or is there another way?

At the moment when i play it back (I'm creating a bar chart that the bars grow slowly across the screen) the background is on for a few seconds and then disappers.

i'm having trouble duplicating a movieclip to give the impression of a perpetually scrolling background.
on a 640x480 movie, i want the clip to duplicate itself onto the end when it scrolls left off the stage, but the duplicatation doesn't take place:

'xmvt' is the speed with which it scrolls
with the remove movieClip, if the original goes off screen, it should vanish totally...

I'm planning to use a photoshop image as the background my swf, what is the best file format to import in flash 5?

Or is it more important that I use compression on the bitmap when the swf is exported?

Shifting Backgrounds
hey folks, just another noob question for you all to shake your heads at

i've seen this done in other movies and was just wondering how it works: on my movie i have a background layer as usual with a background drawn and everything, but at a specific moment in my movie i would like the background to sort of "fade to black" as it were i tried making two seperate instances of the backgrounds, one of the norm and one of the black bg and tried to tween them but it dosen't seem to be working out the way i planned, thanks for the help!

Creating Backgrounds
I'm wondering how does one go about creating a background for a web page? My web page consist of my logo going accross the screen (using flash) and then 5 circles in the shape of a pentagon(each have a mouse over - middle of the pentagon shape is some text that changes with each mouseover and a satellite tower). But it looks kind of blah...I need some sort of a background on the page. Nothing too "flashy" maybe a 3D star or something...My web page consist of 2 colors basically (navy and yellow - these are the company logo colors) -- so I need something that won't be too much of a contrast, yet something creative...

How would I go about creating a background? The backgrounds I see on other websites look so neat...I'm not a super creative person(I've just got thrown into graphics - would rather just program) -- so what's the trick to designing a nice looking background?

Transparent SWF Backgrounds
Hi All.

I am new to Flash and this board. I need to know if it is possible for Flash MX to create a SWF that, when placed onto a web page, has a transparent background.

I need to place a small animation on a page with a background that would not accomodate a square SWF button. Transparency is necessary and I am really not interested in the Animated GIF option.

If anyone knows how to do this, it would be greatly appreciated if you wouldn't mind sharing.

anyone know a action script for a scolling background, or a method of making one, like a continuous backround that keeps moving ex: 2advanced, the clouds keep moving the whole time...???

Moving Backgrounds?
Is it possible to use a clip from Mix-Fx and use it as a moving background? (it's less than 3k so size shouldn't be an issue?)
I couldn't import it onto the stage as I can with swf's created with Swish (??) so I finally got my head around the loadmovie command and got got my mix-fx created clip playing, but now it would seem that to get anything else to show I need to use the unloadmovie command? What I've found that if I import a Swish swf I can import it right onto the stage as a mc but this won't work when using a Mix-Fx clip ( nor can I import it to the library either)
I'm guessing it's because Mix-FX outputs in Flash 4 format and MX won't touch it. If this is the case is there a way to change the format from Flash4 to 5 or MX?

Or should I give up on the notion of having a moving background?

hi,

i've been looking at some sites which use different fills and textures for objects and backgrounds... one of the popular ones is that grid kindof thingy (basically just a grid over a plain colour to give a high-tech kind of look)

anyway, would this be bitmapped or many lines? if it's a bitmap, wouldn't it be fairly large in size?

Can you make the background of your flash movie be invisible when on a webpage, so you can have a background image on an html page show through the movie.
This would be cool, so you can have the background on a whole page, but only have the movie on one part of the page, therefore not having to make the movie the whole size of the screen for the background.

I tried posting this earlier but it didn't look like it happened so here it is again for the first time: I would like to have a background scroll behind my characters to simulate movement. Looping Backgrounds
How in the hell do you loop backgrounds? I haven't been here for a while, but a few months ago I remember some people had sigs with looping backgrounds of, say, rolling hills?

What I'm looking for is a way that I could have the hills loop to where the hills seem like it goes on for infinity, instead of the hills showing up and disappearing. I hope I explained this right.

Those of you who know of Scooby Doo or The Flintstones cartoons know what I am talking about. The backgrounds look like they go on forever. This has been puzzling me for months and months on end, on and off. I gotta know how to do this.

I've just downloaded a hangman .fla from the full game code section of this web site. I want to be able to have a new background load everytime a new game is played. i.e. the player gets the word correct and moves on to the next word with a new background. I've developing the game into a hangman with a cricket theme, so I want to be able to load a new picture of a cricket player everytime the user moves onto the next word.

I would like to know how to to generate random backgrounds.

i have a flash movie and have imported images as png format. I've noticed a faintbackground around the image standing out from the flash background. The png doesn't look completely transparent on top of the movie background. I havn't noticed this before and wonder if i changed a setting? Is this normal? How can i resolve this?
