Gradient Fading To Transparent
Is it possible to make a circle with a gradient fill the fades from a color to transparent? I hope I've made this understandable. Thanx in advance.

I know no question here is stupid, however I'm probably being an idiot as the solution could be staring me in the face and I just don't know it. But here is the problem....
I have seen a few websites using what appears to be a masking effect with a linear transparent gradient to make objects do a cross-fade in or out of the scene, with whatever backgrounds under them showing through as they are cross-faded away. No matter how hard I try, I cannot achieve that same effect and I'm about to go nuts trying to find any open-source examples of this for a week or two now. Please help.

Transparent Gradient Masks
ok, i think the time has come to talk about transparent gradient masks. it took adobe up until version 9 to have transparencies and mask transparencies in illustrator. i have been waited 4 years for Macromedia to come out with a transparent gradient mask. i don't think its happening anytime soon. does anyone know anything about this? i say we start a TRANSPARENT GRADIENT MASK IN FLASH ver 7 revolution!!! WHOSE WITH ME!!!
seriously, does anyone know anything about this? and macromedia should drop the whole bezier tool thing if it can't do it right. i can understand if it didn't get it right on Flash ver 5 (you have to start somewhere), but Flash MX??? come on! The way Flash MX is touted I should be able to predict the gender of my baby before i even know who the mother is!
other than that i think Flash MX is a wonderful program. as both a designer and a developer i can say that Flash MX actionscripting is way beyond. there are times i just imagine something and that functionality is already built in, or at the very least i have the tools to be able to create that functionality. but as a designer i have to admit that Flash is a little bit lacking.
p.s. can someone send this to macromedia? they won't let me through the gate and i think they know my face.

Gradient To Transparent, Can Flash Do This?
Is it possible to make an image (like in photoshop) gradient to transparent (the background) in Flash? Does Flash5 or MX offer this feature and how do I do it?
Even something as simple as a box that is a solid colour on one end but fades to trasparent on the other.

[F8] Transparent Gradient For Images?
Hi,
Basically I have a set of grouped images in a row, and want to fade them into black at the bottom. I have tried using the gradient tool and setting the top to Alpha 0% but can't seem to do it. I have also tried using mask layers but no luck there either.

Real Gradient/transparent Mask
back when still in an era of flash 5, i together with my friend, found a way to make the use of gradient in mask. we used some AS for sure.
but the problem is, i forgot how to do that, my friend is in malaysia and lost contact since then.
i've asked and searched this technique on the net and no one knows.
it's a long-lost technique i might say

Is It Possible To Create A Transparent Gradient Within Flash
Im wondering how is this actually done. I have some old flash fla's which i must always access which have loads of different gradient combinations and so on. Quite often i need to be copy pasting these into new documents. Anyhow got me thinking how does one and is it possible to create say transparent gradients (example black to 0) simply within flash without say having to use illustartor etc..thank you!

Mask Gradient (fill BLACK ->TRANSPARENT)
A potentially obvious question, but thank you very much to anyone who can help here cos I can't find the solution!
I need a gradually revealing mask, not one that's either off or on. I don't mean gradually over time, I mean gradually left-right.
If there was nothing behind it then I could cheat this with just a coloured block in front of the object I want to mask, except that I'd need to fill this block with a gradient fill of black->transparent. Is there a way to even do this?

Transparent (gradient Mask-like) Fills (like Smoke)
I have seen different flash sites use images that overlay on another image with soft see through edges, almost like a layer with a mask on it like in Photoshop. How can you do this in flash?

how can you get the smoke to overlay the back images with smooth gradient fades like that? Say I wanted to have an image on a layer over another image. Can I have that image fade in some spots to reveal the image below it in Flash? Whenever I create a layer like this with a tranparent backround in Photoshop and export it as a transparent GIF, then import it into Flash, it makes a jagged edge and not a smooth fade, what gives!

Fading Into Transparent Swf Background
Hey guys,
I'm working on a flash site where the background of the movie is transparent. I want to do a fading scroll menu of thumbnails going horizontally. I did a fading scroll similar to this before however it was a black background and it was basically a gradient with 0% alpha to black, that is not working this time.

Are Transparent/fading (alpha) Masks Possible?
Hi,
I'm trying to make text on a website come in in a cool way. I would like the text to fade in line by line and the only way I can think of achieving this is having a mask over top of the text and then getting the mask to fade alpha from 0 to 100%, thus making it a complete mask and showing all the text. However when I click to make that fading layer a mask, the tween doesn't work on the mask. It instantly goes from 0 to 100% alpha on the mask, know what I mean?
How (if you even can) can you make a mask that has an alpha tween from 0 to 100%?
I'm using Flash MX 2004.

Button To Morph To Transparent On Rollover And Stay Transparent?
hi,
trying to get a button to go from a solid 100% to 0% alpha and then stay at 0% alpha, not go back to the original upstate. as they do in http://www.requiemforadream.com/
i made a movie clip that does that then put it in the upstate of the button.
problem i can't solve yet... is,
the movie clip plays immediately rather than waiting for rollover. (it plays whether i have tell target actions or not)

Transparent Background & Transparent Color In Flash Player
Hi...
I know I can make the main _root background transparent by adding awmode = transparent property to the html embedding code. But what if I want more complex effects... it´s easier if you see what I´m trying to do... visit this URL and note the flash animation -> www.chapeco-online.com.br/test . It has a transparent background and a little fade in effect done by a simple motion tweening... what if I want to motion tween from a transparent color (so the html background shows up) instead of white? Is that possible?

From Gradient Dynamic Text, To Gradient Dynamic Image.
Earlier I had a huge struggle getting to be able to place a gradient on Dynamic text, where the text is entered using Action Script. I figured it out though. Now I am wanting to place a gradient fade on a Dynamic Image, using loadMovie.
Here is the code I used for Dynamic Text Gradient

Fading And Reverse Fading Text
I'm so new to this it's sick. But I figure I can take a few days and learn as much as I can. I'm building a website wherein I'll have a splash page before entering the main contents of the site.
I'm using Flash 5. On the splash page I want to know how to create a text object that appears in a 'reverse fade' fashion. I imagine a 'reverse fade' function can be done with any object or graphic - I've seen it on these awesome websites listed at FK.
I don't know if I'm evening asking this question right. I'm able to use CoffeeCup Firestarter and make things appear and fade easily (duh - who couldn't with that program) but can't view the code the Firestarter program produces in order to learn how it happened.
Appreciate any help someone could give me.

Transparent Image Not Recognized As Transparent
I am loading a PNG with transparency into a UILoader. This part works correctly, transparency and all.
Now I need to find out the rectangle that is transparent. I found the getColorBoundsRect() function, and copied the UILoader.content into a bitmapData, but when I run the getColorBoundsRect it comes back with a Rectangle that has no width or height - IE, it finds no transparent pixels.
To test, I tried using getPixel32 on an area of the image I know is transparent, and it comes back to tell me that the pixel alpha is 255?

I want to create a transparency gradient.
Basically on the left bottom corner the alpha would be 0% and then it would change to 100% in top right corner.
Always using the same color.

Linear? Gradient
argh,
this isn't really an ActionScript question, but does anyone have any idea about the curve used to produce the 'linear' gradient??
I was hoping that if I had two gradients
from 0% to 100% (/)
and
from 100% to 0% ()
then when laid one over the other, I would have a solid shape
this is far from true, it's still fairly transparent
does anyone know how transparency is combined, I would have thought that they were just added together
I guess if flash had some kind of control over the gradient curve...
any ideas from all you clever people
