Can My 1024x768 Designed Site Still Be Viewable For 800x600 Screens?
Hi,
I've just spent the last 3 weeks designing my site in Flash (the swf is 955x600 which is best for 1024x768 screen resolution). Now, I have placed those swf files at the top and centre of the html pages in Dreamweaver (so when it's opened in Internet Explorer, it fits just nicely on a 17" 1024x768 monitor). I've just realised after using other peoples computers with 800x600 screen resolutions, that the swf file is way big out of proportion. Now what I would like to know is, is it possible in Flash that there is some way that the swf file can shrink to fit 800x600 screens? I just don't want to have to worry about my website overlapping on all the people who check out my site with 800x600 screens.
I'm thinking of just redesigning the whole website so it is 800x600 compatible. But that's gonna take ages.
Check out www.ds-d.com to see what I mean.
Thanks for listening.

Centered In Flash Player, But Not In Browser
Hi all,
I made an swf (http://www.coolschrank.nl/mrfleece.swf)
and everything is centered properly when I view it in the standalone flash player.
But when I open it in a browser, everything is shifted to the bottom right.
It does not matter what kind of publishing settings I use for the swf and
HTML (Flash CS3).
How can I solve this?
Thanks in advance!

How To Publish A Centered Flash Web Site?
Hi,
1) I created a web page in dreamweaver with a 100% table and a 600 pixels table inside. This way my web site is centered. I inserted my flash web site inside the 600 pixel table. My Flash .swf has black background and my web
page has also black background. However for a few moments, when i access my web site, the 600 pixel table is empty and with white background while everything else is black...it only turns black when the flash movie shows
up. I really don't understand this...
2) I also tryied another thing: i went to Flash Publish Options and i set the horizontal and vertical position to center. Then i clicked Publish. I clicked the HTML file produced and it Flash site appeared but was not centered.
What is wrong?
Anyway, could someone advice me on how to publish a Flash web site?
Thanks,

Truly Centered Non-resizable Swf In A Browser Window (flash 5)
I found a page that launches a full-screen browser window with a SWF in it. This SWF is non-resizable, and it is centered inside a browser window in such a manner, that both bottom AND TOP get cut off if the screen size is smaller than that of a flash file.
Usually an embedded SWF would be tied to top left corner of the browser window in case of a smaller screen. In other words, top edge and left edge of a SWF file would always start at 0, 0 if the screen is too small.
Not in this case though. Check it out at designchapel.com : http://www.designchapel.com/
Java script on the index page launches the full-screen browser window. But what makes the movie inside that window perfectly centered, even on a smaller (i.e. 800x600) screen, letting its BOTH bottom AND TOP edges be clipped? Is there some flash code for it? I couldn't find anything in the html code.
Thanks

[F8] Full Browser Flash With No-scale Centered Content Clip
Hi there,
I see this done on many sites and need some help to achieve it. (looked around on the web for ages but can't find exact solution) I need to:
1. Main (main.swf) flash file loads in browser fullscreen (100% x and y scaling)
2. Content (content.swf) flash file loads into main.swf and is embedded centered with exact dimensions eg. 400x400px
So no matter what size the browser is the main.swf is always fullscreen, and the content.swf is always fixed width and height
Thanks in advance!

Point Blank: Full Screen Browser Window, With A Flash File Centered Both Horizontall
Here is the deal.
I would like to create a flash popup that creates a browser window that goes fullscreen. Not the fullscreen that takes over the whole screen, and you need to esc to get out. But fullscreen so in a window that has no toolbars, search bar, etc.
That's the first challenge. Within that window, I have a flash file that is 1100 x 700. I would like to have that swf centered both vertically and horizontally. I would also like to have the background of that file extend to all sides....so that I can change the color of the background. To accomplish this I used this link and modified the file that came with it...
http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx2004/fullscreen.htm
The problems that i have run into are the following... I thought I had it working with this...
http://www.leereedy.com/test/splash.html
It was working on Internet explorer....automatically launching a full screen pop up. But it doesn't even work on safari or firefox. I was using a code that I got from some pop up java code generator.
Is there a way to do what I'm trying to do? I've been wrestling with this for so long. I want it to just go away. If you could impart your wisdom on me, and or post an fla, or html file....that would be amazing.
Thanks.

CENTERED IN BROWSER PROBLEM
Hi,
I have my flash movies ready as well as my regular html content ready to put on the web. Here's my problem--different people have different screen resolutions. Is there a way I can add a javascript to the windows so that when they open up they are centered in the persons computer screen. I've seen it done but I dont know how or where I saw it. It would be a big help to me considering it would look kinda wierd if a window launches and opens up in the top left corner of the screen. Thanks for any help.

Full Browser Problem ... SWF Not Centered
I know this problem has been discussed many times before, but I am having an issue that I could not find, when searching for it. Specifically, I already know how to make the Flash fill the browser, and be centered...but this is only when the browser is sized to maximum size. When I resize the browser window in either Mozilla/Firefox or Internet Explorer, the movie does not center itself in the browser.
An easy solution would be to tell users to maximize their browser before launching/playing the movie. However, ideally, I would like to make it so that the movie is centered regardless of browser resizing.
Any solutions/ideas/suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
hooman

PopUp Centered In Browser Not Screen
Hi,
I finally have a Javascript that makes my PopUp-windows pop up in the center of the screen. I am now wondering if it is possible to center the PopUp in the browser-window; i.e. the browser window is a quarter of the screen size and in the upper left corner of my screen - the PopUp should then appear as well somewhere in the upper left corner, centered to the actual browser-window position.
I hope i expressed myself clearly.
Thanks in advance.

Centered Clip & Browser Scrollbars
Hey everyone - I have a question. I'm building my new portfolio site (since I renamed my business) and I need some help. It's a 100%x100% flash movie with the content centered, no problem. The problem comes in when you resize the browser, there are no scrollbars if it goes past the main flash content.
I added a spacer image the size of my main movie so that if the browser is resized smaller than that, the scrollbars will appear, the onlt problem is that it scrolls to black, the flash doen't extend past the visible area and down into the scrollable area like I thought it would. Any thoughts or help on this would be GREAT!!

Im wondering about this, because I see plenty of flash sites that have fully-centered movies, that aren't like mine which are at the top-center portion of a fully-opened IE browser.. Anyone know how to make it more lower near the center of the window ??

Centered Pop-Up Tutorial From This Site
Hello,
I have been searching for a pop-up solution for flash sites.
It appears the tutorial on this site is perfect. The tutorial works fine on the site, but when I add it to my server I get a white page
with this URL:
javascript:var%20myWin;%20if(!myWin%20||%20myWin.c losed){myWin%20=%20window.open('http://www.kirupa.com/modular/pop-up.htm','kirupa','width=400,height=300,toolbar=0,l ocation=0,directories=0,status=0,menubar=0,scrollb ars=1,resizable=0,top='+((screen.height/2)-(150))+',left='+((screen.width/2)-(200))+'')}else{myWin.focus();};void(0);
I downloaded the source files from the site, published it, then put the html file and the .swf file on the server. Seems like a no brainer!
Any gracious guru have any ideas they wouldn't mind sharing??

Is Flash Optimized For 800x600?
I had problems with 1024x768 flash applications. When I run tests I found that fps drops when MC crosses 800x600 resolutions.
Specifics:
I made flash file with resolution 1024x768 and made an MC(movieclip) that increased it height and width and changed alpha. It hasn’t had any problems until the rectangle extended 800x600+.
SWF is made for 30 fps. With one movieclip it was 29-30 before 800x600 and 21 after. With 10 movieclips it was 28-30 before and 9-10 after.
I checked fps with the code:
Attach Code
Current = getTimer();
trace(1000/(Current-Last));
Last=Current;

Flash Site Won't Work In Browser
This is my first attempt at building an entire site in Flash (so don't laugh at it). Everything works fine when I open the .fla files in Flash and even when I preview in browser from FrontPage. When I uploaded the files to Tripod, the initial page worked (my main MC is "menu.swf"), but nothing else will load. When I click on the buttons, the MC's for my other pages don't even show up and I end up just looking at my Menu page.
The URL is www.matt2645.com
I am including all of the files in a zip file here. Like I said, everything works in Flash and when I preview in FrontPage. I want to find out if I am doing anything wrong in Flash before I e mail Tripod and have to wait and wait for an answer. I had a different site up there that had a Flash menu and it worked fine.
Thank you in advance!

Enabling Scrolling In Flash Movie When Resolution Is 800x600
I am using fullscreen flash, and it works great at all resolutions, but when using 800x600, the swf gets cut up and makes it unusable.
A simple solution would be to re-direct people using 800x600 to a seperate page, but it's far from perfect as it would require more work.
Right now I am using Stage.scalemode ="noscale"; on the movie. How would I go about either enabling scrollbars on 800x600 or when someone's mouse goes to the bottom of the flash movie, it scrolls down by itself?
I assume it would be done using stageListener.onResize, but i do not know how to implement it.
any help would be very appreciated
Thanks

All Flash Site Is Small In Firefox Browser.
Hi All I 'm new and would like to say hello and I'm very happy to find and join your forum.
I am a designer and about three years back I put a hard month into learning flash and learned enough to make my portfolio site http://www.sterino.com.
My problem is after losing my job recently I need to make sure any and all can view the site as intended. Unfortunately an Art director mentioned they could not view in Firefox at actual size?
The flash .swf file was set up to strech to any size as you drag the window it is in, and it works great in IE7 and safari.
BUT not in firefox!
I just have a Dreamweaver basic index.html page that points to the .swf file which is the entire site including preloader. I have tryed to change the code to be more CSS friendly but to know avail.
I have tryed the satay method but could not get it to work.
Million dollar question how do I or how do you guys load ALL flash sites to the web, am i missing something

Need Flash Site To Size To User's Browser Window
I thought that when you go to Publish Settings in your Flash file and choose "Percent" for Dimensions and make the percent dimensions equal 100 x 100, that would cause your Flash file to size to the user's browser. But, my file doesn't always fit the user's browser. Sometimes it is tiny with lots of blank space all around, and sometimes it is huge, where you have to scroll around to see everything. How do I fix this?
