Flash :: Hangs Up With Timeline Effects

Help With Timeline Effects
Hi sorry bit of a newbie to flash.
Im trying to add a timeline effect to a button so that on the over state the effect takes place, its the blur effect but when I go back to scene 1 and preview I place my mouse over the button the entire animation doesnt work I only get the first 3 frames or so...any ideas??

Help W/timeline Effects, Please
Hi. I'm new to Flash. Using CS3 on Mac. I want to use the Alpha feature in the Timeline Effect > Transform. I want a bitmap image to come up from white to 100% opacity. Using the Timeline Effect I can get the image to go from 100% to white, but I can't reverse the effect. Does anyone have any suggestions, please? Thanks.

I was just fiddling around in MX2k4, and right clicked on a shape, and saw the "Timeline effects" option in the context menu... Is that a new thing, or just something I never noticed before?

Okay after all these months with Flash MX I finally just found out about the Timeline effects options. I can`t belive I didn`t know about these. But I have a question, whenever I try anything but the Blur or Drop Shadow effect the computer freezes up and I have to quit Flash. Is it just too much to ask of my computer to apply an effect to 291 characters? Thanks.

Okay, does flash MX have timeline effects? Because I have a friend with flash mx, he says he can make them, and he even told me how to do them. But now I don't know how and when I go to Insert there is no timeline effects option! Can someone help me?

Hi , i am begginer in flash and just started working with some banners for my web page.I found timeline effects very nice for picture transitions (blur,expand,explode) but i was wondering is there some additional transition to be installed since there are just few preinstalled with macromedia flash.Is there some site or app from which i can find more of this?

Mx Timeline Effects Errors
Hi,
I have version 7.0.1 of Flash MX2004. Whenever I go to timeline effects and select an effect from any of the three options (assistants, effects, transform), I get the following errors. I'm hoping someone can help me to get rid of the errors:

first I get:
While executing in [the document name is here, say untitled1], the following Javascript errors occured: missing ) after argument list

then I get:
While executing in [doc name], the following Javascript errors occured: TypeError:Object.fxutil has no properties

next:
While executing in [doc name], the following Javascript errors occured: undetermined string literal

then it loads the window, but it keeps flashing loading preview and then pops up a window saying three times:
Error opening URL "While executing in [doc name], the following JavaScript error(s) occurred:unterminated string literal

if I change the values, say doing a blur and change the direction, and then say okay, it does apply the effect. I was hoping someone could tell me how to get rid of the error messages and enable the preview in the pop-up window. Thanks.

Does anyone here know where to find free downloadable flash mx timeline effects?

[F8] Timeline Effects Not Showing
I think I am missing something very basic here. I have a movieclip with its own timeline in a root layer. In that timeline I have shapes, and in layers above I have shapes that slide via shape tweens to reveal the lower shapes. Every shape is in its own layer and everything works great when I manually drag the timeline across but when I run a preview all I see are the bottom shapes and the sliding shapes are invisible.

It almost seems that the timeline "skips" the frames that the tweens are on. What I can't understand is why it works when I drag the timeline but not when I run it.

I've tried using timeline transitions and even changing my sliding shapes to movieclips but no success.

Any help would be appreciated.

Timeline Effects: Old School Guy Need Em?
A friend is learning flash and was having trouble. She couldn't get the results she wanted. I told her to send me the fla and i'd look at it. it was crazy messy, first problem. then i noticed all these timeline effects, which seemed bloated and unnecessary... more library junk. i've never heard of them before, but then i haven't been using much flash lately, are they new? are they lame? are they some kind of crappy shortcut? thanks. i'll also do some searching and researching.

Timeline Effects Error?
I have used the timeline effects successfully on my work computer, but here at home I just got this message when I tried to do the spin in transform. I also tried to do the wide and fade, but I got the same error.

Here it is:

While executing, in happy_dogs (my filename), the following Javascript error occurred:

What the heck does this mean? Can anyone help me fix it?

Just curious. I don't, but I probably would if the effects were better -- the system itself of applying and editing effects works nice.

Multiple Timeline Effects
Hello everyone.

I am using a timeline effect to fade in a logo. CLICK TO ENTER text then appears under the logo. Upon clicking the text, I would like to initiate another timeline effect (Transform) whereby the logo rotates 720 degrees counterclockwise and shrinks in size while moving to the upper left corner, and after about a second, a hyperlink is followed.

The fade-in works, and the text appears, but I am having a problem with the rest.

Can someone please help. Thanks much.

Well, I've only played with them a little bit but I think I hate them thus far. the preview is incredibly slow and the effects are limited. Am I missing something here?

Timeline Effects Error?
I'm seriously frustrated with this!

My Timeline Effects option doesn't give any options...when I choose - Insert - Timeline Effects - the only option says "effects list". This also happens when I have clicked on my object or text from the stage and then right-click to bring up the context menu to choose timeline effects.

If anyone else has had this problem or knows how to fix it please let me know --

Timeline Effects Don't Work Sometimes
Hello,

Do you guys also experience that the timeline effects such as "Drop Shadow", "transformation", "transition", etc don't work. Sometimes I select an object and then go to
timeline effects and try to add a transformation for example, but then it won't let me do it. I mean when I click on "transformation" the stage shakes slightly, but nothing happens and I dont' even get an error message. Some other times it works and another window opens and gives me different options for "transforming" the object.
I don't know why sometimes it doesn't let me to perform the effect.

Timeline Effect > Effects> Explode
Hi, i am fairly new at flash, but have some knowledge and could mostly likely figuere out what to do if you gave me some brief heads up of what to look for. Alright here is the scenario. I have a layer made that contains about 343 blank frames (due to other layers containing stuff) then i created a frame, inserted my picture into it and extended it o say 25 frames. so i highlighted all those 25 frames, went to Insert > Timeline Effect > Effects > Explode (so that i could make my picture explode out of scene) and it came up with the following errors: TypeError: sel[0] has no properties (so i hit the ok button) Then it opens the Explode screen and flashes Loading Preview. My output box opens and says:

Error opening URL "file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Mitch/Local Settings/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash MX 2004/en/Configuration/preview1.swf"

so i hit ok then it says that some Java script error occured and at line 41 of "the directory to explode.jsfl"enterEditMode: no selection
then i hit okay and it says:

TypeError: fl.getDocumentDOM()selection[0]has no properties

Then an Explode 1 layer appears on my scene but with nothing in it, can anyone please tell me what to do, i really want my pic to explode out and i just cant figuere out whats wrong. It would be much appreciated seeing how i did take awhile to make this post.

Reversing Premade Timeline Effects
Hi,
Lets say i have some text. I take that text and break it apart, and apply the premade timeline effect blur, to kind of "blow up" the letters. Then lets say I want to take that blow up kind of thing, and in another layer reverse the process and have it start "blown up" and assemble itself into another word. I make the new text and apply the effect, but it wont let me reverse the effect.

Any Ideas>?

Shorten Effects On Timeline After They Are Built
I have built an effect(shape tween) that Iwould like to make smoother and shorter. it runs for sixty frames, Iwould like to shorten to 3o frames yet keep some ballance. it is to layers thick, is there a keyboard short cut, or an easier way than rebuilding it? Or should i just remove 1 frame at a time. thanks every body.

I have added a timeline effects->Transition to a line of text, I set the the transition to play once, the text resides on one of a series of slides. however when I view the flash the transition gets played over and over again, why?

Flash Timeline Effects Problem
Hi All

I have created quite a complex animation, well complex for me anyways!!

However I wanted a logo and enter link to fade in at the end of the animation, if I simply stick the logo for example in a keyframe of its own and in a layer of its own, and then right click timeline effects - transition it just doesnt show up on the animation preview at all. If I double click on the instance of the logo in the timeline then do timeline effects - transition it shows up but just keeps on looping even thought the remainder of the animation is static. I tried removing the loop by selecting play once in the properties panel, but all that does is remove my main logo which it has nothing do with????

Sorry for the long story, I have tried everything I know for the last 2 hours and pulling my hair out, any help would be fantastic. I have attached a screenshot to this post.

Newbie Fade In And Out Using Timeline Effects
Hi All
Having a great time using tweening fade in's and out's but this fancy software lets me use the timeline effects to create a fade in or fade out. I would like to fade in and then fade out. Call me crazy or maybe just tired but I can't figure it out.

Example: Want to fade graphics in and then out and then another comes in and what a wonderful time I could have...

Let me know how I can make the images fade in and out.

Problem With Loading .jpgs Externally And Timeline Effects
I need to have an .swf that loads multiple .jpgs externally, that I can do. I also have to have it fade each one out in a slideshow fashion along with having a next/previous button, and I've got that much working as well.

However, I'd also like to add a pause button, but that's where I'm having my problem. Whenever I stop the animation, the movieclip that has the fade out effect continues to loop, which it shouldn't do. I need it to just stop playing exactly where it is.

I've included the .fla of what I've got at the moment, if that helps any.

Advanced Masking Effects In Transitions--programmatic Or Timeline/graphics?

I've cobbled together some of my own effects to do less complicated stuff like this, but I'm hoping someone can sort of tell me "yeah, this is how they do that":

I've seen galleries with transitions between images, or transitions between content on Flash sites, where the wipe to the new content is some very complicated graphical mask--like maybe the old sort of breaks up into hundreds of "shards" and disintegrates to reveal the new content. This is programmatic, right? Or are people using manually created mask animations to do some of this stuff? Does anyone have any links to tutorials of this type of animated transition stuff? I've seen many variations, but all SEEM to be some type of heavy-duty programmed animated masks or programmed manipulation of the leaving bitmap data that is happening at runtime.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. THanks!

Streaming Files Effecting My Main Timeline Sound Effects? Out Of Sinc?
Hi,

I have a question regarding streaming sound effects happening over your animated movie time line. I must be doing something screwy!

This is fustrating. When I add another streaming sound file, it effects the other sounds in my time line that are supposed to happen at that specific time.

When I add a sound effect over a certain part of my main timeline (say a boom sound) I want it to happen when 2 objects collide. I can do this. Pretty simple stuff.

However, It works fine when its by itself, but when I when I add other streaming sound effect over my same movie somewhere else on the main time line it changes the sound so my original "Boom" sound does not play over where it intitially played before in time with the colliding obgects. It is off and and it is not in time.

What can I do,

my problem is that i m submitting data from a flash movie to mysql inno server, it works well but when i try to play its swf it got hangs... what is the problem.. ne suggestion

I am experiencing irritating problems with flash video matches from a website know as mlb.tv (mlb.com). I have updated my flash player and that's not the problem. I think it may be related to a register key (regedit) and something I need to get rid of there. If anyone knows how to solve this problem, help me please.

Preloader Hangs Up
I'm using the same preloader scene in various .swfs, and I have one that just seems to hang up (lock) after about 50k is downloaded. Normally I'd "blame the internet", but this is damningly consistent. Since I'm using the exact same code in different .swfs that preload fine, I'm wondering what could cause this. Could it be a content issue? What's the easiest way to find out what content could be the trouble?

Movie Hangs

I have a movie that contains one movieclip for each record in database... i get by duplicating a movie clip. now if i have few records its working fine. but if i hav a large no. of records, it just hangs.... I guess ythe loadvariables () call and loadvars object taht i use to populate the movie clips text boxes are taking long time so hangs...
what is teh solution...

Browser Hangs
I am having problems from the client side saying they are able to see only a white screen and nothing else.
I have a main html page with links to all the topics. Each link opens a popup html window(800 X 600) which has an .swf file embedded in it. Each topic has seperate html files with .swf's embedded in it.
what i have found is that, if i close the browser popup window using the browser default Close(X) button while the swf file is loading, the browser hangs after some 4-5 files. Any further clicks does open the popup window, but doesnot load anything. even the parent window hangs after that.
Refreshing the window only shows a white screen and nothing else.

pls help me with this asap.

Navigation Hangs
Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction here. All of my navigation is loading swfs into empty movie clips on the a main timeline. Now, the problem is that once a button is Released, nothing loads until after the mouse moves again. Has anyone had this happen? If so, any solutions? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am using Flash CS3 and Actionscript 2
