Anyone Other Then Flex Can Help Me Out On This Please... HeadLab News Ticker...
If you check on the tutorials section , in special effects section under MX. You will see 4th one down is News Flasher.

I been trying to get this thing to work with no success. I have followed the directions. I downloaded the zip file for the component. I opened the movie. Made a dynamic text field with the center / html / multi line settings. Made it myText instance.

I created the notepad text file and copied and pasted the exact lines they had on the tutorial. And put the & infront .

When i publish the ticker, The news is shown with the html codes all there. It also only shows the first line and the "the best flash learning source " line. With all the stupid html tags and nothing else. Can anyone tell me what im doing wrong. What are the two layers in the fla for ? Im so helpless

i was wondering if there was a tutorrial for news flasher in mx 2004. i was given this link (http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/newsflasher.htm)but in this one the text stops in the center, i was looking for one which has a continous flowing text like the ones you see on news channels " breaking news" kind of stuff. thanks for the help.

the link for downloading does not work anymore...so i found the smx somewhere else on the internet

umm.............mines doesnt work......

i test inside flash and it works, i export it as mov and when i click on the actual swf it works fone. it reads from the txt file and all but when i preview index it doesnt work. i uploaded to site server and it also doesnt work

any help plz?

Create a dynamic textfield and give it an Instance name, label it myText.

Align to center the textfield ( so the text loaded into it will be centered).

Select Apply HTML tags.

Then, drag and drop the component into the textfield

urms.. hi guys. i'm here with a question (once again =.=")

i was tryin out the news flasher tutorial (http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/newsflasher.htm).. but it only showed my first "news" and is looking through it..

the content of my ticker.txt looks something like..

or is there any specific parameters i need to edit to make it work?

hi, I can't seem to mask the news flasher tutourial. Is it becasue the text is a dynamic textfield and therefore I can't mask it.

Hey All,

Not sure on where to ask this question. But Im trying to use the headlab news flasher component, well its now K-Lab, but when I try to edit the parameters I get an error in flash stating "There was an error opening the custom UI for this Component" Can anyone explain what this means? Ive tried reinstalling the component but I get the same error.

I was trying that News Flasher Tutorial and when I try to drag and drop the component it says:

"Embedding OLE objects is unsupported. Use File->Import to import media."

What do I have to do to get it to work?

I have the text file in the same directory as the fla file itself... i set the path to nothing cuz its in the same directory.... why on earth isnt it working.... i just wanna experience flash goodness

News Flasher Wont Work In Ie
first of all, the script works in "preview" in Flash MX and in Flash alone when opened from Windows or Dreamweaver MX. However, when I place it into the page (.php), it does not preview correctly, and if I don't enable "loop", it doesn't even play.

hi, I was doing the news flasher tutorial, and I dont really get the step 5 and 6. It tells me to publish an movie with nothing but an empty text field and component, then open the notpad. the part I dont get is..do I open a new notepad, and then copy and paste all that format to it? what do I name it? or when I published the moive it does also publishe a notepad file? HELP!!

News Flasher Component Language Problem... Or Not?
Hi I wanted to create a field of dynamic text that could be updated from an external .txt and that would work as a news flasher, as teached on the tutorial on www.kirupa.com. But I think my problem is about the language of the text I am inputing on the external .txt! I am inputing portuguese text, and some characters just appear as a square, such as "á", "à", "ã", "â", "ç" for example... If it matters, to accomplish that news flasher the kirupa tutorial tells me to get a component from

Okay here's a question for any of you guys who've had experience with the Headlab Newsflasher component in Flash. I'm trying to get it constrained to a small part of my larger movie - i.e. I have a section of the screen layout set aside for the news ticker - but the problem is no matter what I set the xwidth to or however I import it into a movieclip it still plays using the full width of the stage. Does anyone know how to get it to only scroll from a certain point of the stage? Cheers!

Hi there. I have got the headlab news flasher component within a header on my webpage. It displays the text located in a simple html file on the server so that the content is easily updateable.

However, whenever I go to a new page on my website it starts the animation from the start, so what i would really like to know is if i can make this random? - ie can the actionscript call any line of text from the html file rather than in order?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Component HEADLAB-NEWSFLASH V1.0
I`m using the component HEADLAB-NEWSFLASH v1.0 on a cd-rom project.
It loads a external txt file.
The problem is that the text is in portuguese and some words has acentuations.
In some computers the text loads with incorrect acentuation.
Is there a special way to write the text? What should I do?

Banner Rotation And HeadLab Text Scroller Probs

I've had a problem with a flash banner (that uses the Headlab text scroller) that has been placed on a java based rotation script.

Problem is the banner freezes. Anyone got any experience of this or know how to correct this.

I profess I know very little about java so any help would be much appreciated.

News Section In AS3 - Easy Method To Add New News Etc
Hi there. I am trying to create a nice frontpage news section on the frontpage of my site. I wanted to somehow do it, so that it is easy to update and automatically loads into the site.

Hi Everybody,
I am just starting out in Flash and have found a lot of cool information here at Kirupa. I based my first Flash project on the Flash 8 Creating a Simple Animation tutorial but I am having trouble with a couple of things. I am including the link to a test version of the home page of my website. At the bottom of the page is the simple animation I have made.

Now here is my problem. As you can see from the animation it starts out with no letter on the page and then they appear. When I was making it I just moved the letters off of the page on to the stage and using the timeline they appear and do what I have them doing. OK when I close the fla and reopen it the letters are gone from the stage and there is nothing in the timeline except Layer one. I can go up to control and play the movie but I no longer have all of the letters or the motion tweens in the timeline. I have another animation that is very similar except the letters are already in the document. If I right click on one of the letters and then click Edit In Place all of the letter layers show up and so does all of the motion tweens and what not.

I hope this is making sense. Any way, I know there is probably a very simple explanation on how to get all of the information back but I have skimmed through the Flash 8 Bible and Friends of Ed’s Foundation Flash 8 books and I cant find the information I need. It would kind of be like closing a Photoshop file as a PSD file and when you re-open it you have all of your layers and layer styles and such back. I will include a link to the fla so if you think down loading it will give you a better idea of what I am talking about here it is.

I have just been looking at this site.

If you go into the section where it says "good news - bad news" there is a piece of work that I think is very clever.

Any ideas on how this was created? I would very much like to have something similar in a project that I am working on - somewhere that users can post pictures and a little line of copy to go with it.

Any one know of any tutorials/components/open source that will give me some kind of angle on achieving this.

It is very clever though - I tried emailing the site but have had nothing back yet

Expirenced Flasher Needs Help Please.
I can't get FScommand to execute other programs.
yeah, pretty weird. Here's my "simple" code:

That simple. Yet it does not work. The path is correct and I tried many other applications with no avial. So if you can help out, it would be most appreicated.

Yes, I know that title came out wrong, but I'm looking for somebody to become a "Flasher" for my site. The site is titled "The Pixelation Station" and will be a site dedicated to pixel art and sprites custom-made and from video and computer games. How do we call another program from flash? For example, I am making an .exe out of my flash presentation. Now I want to click on a button and execute an installation of another program which is in another folder? I tried looking for a way but I couldn't find anything. I know it can be done 'coz I seen it before. Please help!

Volkswagen just recently had a "buckle up" video contest. the contest was to make a 30 second seat belt PSA. a buddy of mine spent hours upon hours on his. he did it all in flash (the only of the finalists) and made the finals. there are three videos now, the artist of the winning video will win $10,000.

The actual picture can move if you get your mouse to the photo's.

I really want to know is this made by adobe flash.
I am really new with flash and creating things. I know working with photoshop cs3 and like to get some more out of it.

For a newbie. Is this kind of photoflash result for a website hard to make. I am looking for tutorialsites with google to start a little reading. But before I actually spend more time to it. I need some help and answers from you here.
