Help Making Animation In As2



How do I make a swf similar to this one https://www.unibet.com/casino/
("Winning right now") on the right side.

The idea is that whenever there is a new winner, the name and points of that winner should appear on top of the others, and the others should move down a step. There should also be a maximum of 4 winners shown at the same time.

How do I make the animation to start, when there is a new winner?

Making An Animation Fade Into Another Animation When A Button Is Released?
okay, so I have for exmaple a red animated background for 'home' but when someone clicks 'media' for example, I want that red animated background to fade into a green animated background.

I tryed using external swfs, but I don't know how to make the outro animation of the first red swf fade into the intro animation of the second green swf, so it creates the effect of red into green, rather than red to black, than black to green.

any tutorials that could help me?

Making My Animation To A Button
So i made a video or whatever... I want to make it a button now and not have to start over to make it a button. So i followed the tutorial and hit the button Convert into symbol|then made it a button and hit ok. When i do this it gets all messed up. Is there an easier way to make a button. I mean i already made the little animation for the button so now all i want is to have a roll over type effect in my website...

Making Animation For Buttons
Well, I can make a button, I can put animation onto it, and I can place the button onan html page... BUT, I dont' know how to make any neat animation. I have adobe photoshop and image ready, and I think I should use those to do this, but have no idea what to do.

My goal - create a button that looks like a clear tube with blue substance in it. WHen mouseover occurs, the blue substance inside appears to start moving. That is my goal. Anyone able to get me started? thanks.

I wonder if in MX can you switch animation around to play something backwards? Or wouldyou manually have to rearrange the key frames?

Making A Book Animation, Asking For Help
Greetings all - Very new to flash and am trying to put together a flash website. Got the main site done, see it here if your interested in commenting on it. Now what I need to do is make book animation that has a forward and back button at the top. When you press forward/back the animation goes off and the previous text is wiped while the new text is placed...make any sense? lol Im confusing myself here. Have the graphics I need, but need help on the forward/back buttons and how to animate it when those buttons are pushed. Planning on making this in a seperate flash file and loading it into my current site when link is pressed. Seen some tuts on loading a flash into a flash so I think I can figure that out. If I'm not asking to much and you have the time can ya help? I can post the images I have if your interested in doing almost all the work for me...heheh

Making This Animation Smoother
Hey everyone,
I'm working on this site and I'm having a bit of trouble with the smoothness of an animation. I'm still early on on this site... Here's how the rays spin. They are set to spin every 10 seconds. The rays are a vector shape which is masking a full size layer of blue colored wood texture. So when that way all the pixels align on the rotation and all. Anyway right now it seems kinda jumpy and not very smooth. Is there anyway to make this better?

Making An Animation Trigger Another Scene...
well, its me again.

after the great help i got from here yesterday, i thought i would try again.

i am making a bit of a menu screen with a picture in the upper right corner. when i click the button, the graphic flies off the screen and i want it to go to another scene.

what i CAN do, is get the button to triger the animation for the graphic to fly off the screen. or i can get the button to open the second scene. what i can't do, is get the animation to play, and then go to the next scene.

to get the button to triger the scene, i just set it to goto and play scene two on release.

this works, but it instantly goes to the next scene and doesn't allow my animation any time to work.

i tried putting something on the end of the animation to goto and play scene 2, but it wont' work.

i've also tried the "if this frame loaded" thing, to go to another scene.

do i have to do anything special to create a new scene? or can i just go to Insert/scene, and start creating and just go?

please help.....

Making Button Animation Gradual

When u edit a button, there are the initial frames up, over, down and hit. How can i insert more frames in between these ones so I can tween the animation to make it gradual, not instant. For example, in my button animation when the cursor is over it, the button gets larger. I would like that to be tweened from small to large. Plz help me with this.

Please Need Few Tips On Making Stick-animation
I'm quite new to flash, and now we have a new assignment in school to make an animation where we split up atleast one character in several layers and movieclips.... This is how he says it to be done but is there really no more effective way?


So I begin with creating all the body-parts on my stick-character and made them Movieclips and put them in the Libary. Second I made all the body-parts to one Movie-clip. Then I entered the movie-clip of all the bodyparts (named "Body") and made movie-clips of smaller body-parts into larger bodyparts (for example I made the Left_Biceps and Left_Underarm to Left_Arm). Then I entered the movieclips and put every "small" bodypart into new layers (for example in Left_Arm I put the Left_Biceps and Left_Underarm into two two different layers).

Then it was time for me o make an animation. I made all the legs and arms basic movements in the "Body" movieclip with Motion Tween and made the smaller animations for the smaller bodyparts in the different movieclips in the "Body" movieclip (for example to make the Left_Underarm move upwars when walking I entered the Left_Arm movieclip and changed it there). Now the problem is that it's very very hard to see what to do in different situations because I can't see how to move the smaller bodyparts layers (example Left_Biceps) to look good and match the movements of the bigger bodyparts layers (example Left_Arm) for example when the character is walking... So I'm wondering if there really isn't any easier and more effective way to animate characters than this??? ....Phew hope I made myself clear...... Really appreciate answers!!

Making Sure Animation Syncs With Audio?
I'm working on a small "intro" animation for a band, pretty straight-forward stuff. They want a music clip playing and some words and photos animated during it. I had worked on it so that when previewing the animation in Flash, all of my small animation events synced up with different points in the music clip. However, once uploading the exported version and viewing it online, stuff does NOT sync up at all. Is there any easy to make sure that what I have going on in the timeline occurs when I want it to in the audio clip?

Question About Making Animation Smoother
Hi!

I'm working on a flash game (on MX2004) where I have a character who is running 'into' the screen. I've used motion tweens to shift the gfx on the sides to create the impression of movement and I have used Poser to create a 3d character and then placed that into flash.

Movement works using the arrow keys. Each movieclip (the scenery and the character) has a stop in the frames and when an arrow key is pressed this plays the movieclip and then stops.

Unfortunately I've found that the movement of the scene with the character is not very smooth but this could be fixed by changing the character gfx.

The main issue is that I also have a timer which acts like a countdown- this needs to run smooth. Unfortunately I'm getting the annoying problem that when I press a key the animation will move but the timer 'freezes' as though it can't update quick enough. When the animation complets the timer continues as normal - it's like a jerky motion.

Can anyone advise whether this is due to code (like I should put the timer in a special place, or handle the movement some other way) or graphics (I took the jpegs from Poser and just used trace bitmap to convert them into graphics in flash)?

If I need to put the same simple animation on a LOT of different movie clips, how could I do this in Flash?

Making A Scrubber Bar To Control Animation, Not FLV
Hi -

I've been searching for weeks and can't figure this out.

I need to make a scrubber bar to control a simple timeline with streaming audio and animation.

I've figured out how to make a scrubber that will allow me to drag it to a point in the animation, and continuing playing the animation.

It's buggy though, when I move the mouse it jerks the animation. I also need the little scrubber bar button to follow the progress.

If anyone can help me out with this or point me to a place where I can learn how to do it, I'd be much appreciative!!!

All the tutorials I've found are for FLV scrubber bar control, not animation.

Voice Over Is Making The Animation Slower?
hey there,
i'm currently working on a Flash presentation where i have to synchronize the animation with a certain voice over, everything goes well if i set the sound properties are set to (stream), but since it's a voice over, i have to set the sound properties to (event) so i can get the best sound quality.
The problem is that when i do that (set the sound properties to "event") the animation becomes slower when i export to swf and not synchronized with the voice over (which doesn't happen if the sound properties are set to stream).
Does anyone know what i should do??

PS. frame rate is 25
file size is 512 x 720 pixels

Suggestions For Making Simple Animation
I want to make a movie clip that has 2 simple radio waves similar in
style to this podcast logo:

I want each of the two waves to animate by first showing the circle,
then the first wave, and then the second wave and then it will repeat. I
did this by placing the graphic in a movie clip and copying the frame to
2 other frames and then going back to the first frame and deleting both
waves and on the second frame deleting only the top wave and leaving
both waves on the final frame.


1. It is kind of jerky from the last frame when it goes back to the
first frame. How can I make it transition from the last frame to the
first when it repeats more smoothly?

2. I also thought about leaving a trail after each wave appears. So the
first wave appears and the next frame it leaves some sort of trail
leading into the next frame. Any ideas how I can do this?

Preloader Animation...not About Making A Bar Move.
i know how to get the status of the loaded content etc, but what i dont get is how to set up an animation that occurs before and after something is loaded. say...i click on a button, then in a movie clip theres an animation, then the loader bar appears and does its thing, then another animation occurs then shoes whatever is loaded there. how do i go about setting up the before/after animations? do i create 1 movieclip with stop actions for a universal preloader, or...?

Making A Movie Clip Appear Only Once In A Looping Animation

I'm making an animation that relies a lot on looping & movie clips.
It's of a character skateboarding down a street. The houses is the background move and loop to make it appear as tho the character is moving forward, but he is just bobbing around..

I want character #2 to appear once on the sidewalk, waving, so that skateboarding character #1 can swerve around him, and continue on his merry way.

Does anyone know if I can make character #2 appear only once in this looping animation, and how this can be done???

Making A Button Play A Certain Animation If Not On A Certain Frame?

Right now, the only button that works is "news" - I'd like to have another button, say "updates" do the same thing as news, only with a different text file. I have that part figured out already - here's what I need help with. See how my site opens when you press news? I want the "updates" button to do the same thing as news, but ONLY if the site is already closed. That way if the site is already open, and they were to press "Updates" it wouldn't play the opening animation over again. I vaguely understand what I need to do, I just don't know how to do it in flash. Basically, what I want to do is this:

on click if frame label = open
load updates.txt
stop();

else
play frame label open
load updates.txt
stop();

I think something like that would hypothetically work. I just need to know how to implement it.

EDIT: Also, something I just realized - I like the way you can click the current "news" button and have it open and close - I'd like to keep that, however with my current setup if you were checking out the news section and then clicked over to the updates section, the site would close. Is there some script I can throw in there that would only close the site if the button clicked equaled the current section of the site? For instance, if they're looking at the news section, I'd like the site to be able to close, but only if they clicked the news section again. If they clicked the updates butotn, I'd like the site to stay open. That'd rock.

Urgent Help Needed - Making A Fireworks Animation
Edit: I'm using Flash 8

I say urgent because I'm under a time constraint to make this (it's gonna be a present for someone, strange as that may sound).

Anyway, here's my dilemma. It's a fireworks program. What it'll do is pick a random message (I'm gonna use an array to store the different messages), shoot up a firework (with a random color, and preferably with the ability for the firework to be shot up from a different position every time), the firework will detonate, and a message will "sprinkle" down (see: http://www.homestarrunner.com/main12.html under email to get a basic idea if you can't visualize it).

So far, I've experimented with a shape tween (I essentially quartered the image - I started with a keyframe with the text on the top, broke it apart twice, pulled it down below the stage, cut it into tenths longways, separated those out, cut it into tenths sideways, and separated those out), but it's really tedious, and I'm not sure it's working exactly as I want it to. So does anyone have any ideas as to a better way to accomplish this? I'd appreciate it so, so much.

Ok can anyone help with this please? What im trying to do is make an attack animation inside a movie clip so it doesn't take many frames. Basically im trying to make the animation in the mc and then make a variable that stops it at frame one/ goes to the previous frame in the timeline.(not sure what its called but its not the previous frame in the mc)The reason im doing this is because I need it for battles so the files not to big and I can find things easier. ^^ thanks

Making An Animation Stop When Reaching A Certain .y Figure
Got a up/down animation that is controlled by buttons and I want it that when the movie clip on the stage reaches a certain .y number, the animation stops. Trying a while statement (also tried an if/else) but it's just stopping the animation in general. I guess it's because I'm nesting this command inside of a function instead of its' own function. Am I right or is there another solution. Here's my code:

Making Flash Animation For Cinema/Theatres
im just wrapping up a film for a client. its a cinematic short and will be transfered on to film ( i dont know much about this) however the resolution they asked us to work in was 2048 x 1536 (which i think is a carry forward from the usual) 720 x 540

now my question is - is this the right way of going about this? i know Phil Nibbelink who did Romeo and Juliet and went straight from Flash to Film worked in 2048 x 1234.

anyone have any ideas about this?

Making A List Component Collapsible With Animation
Hello all,

I have a List Component on the stage with a height of 240px. I want to create a button so that when clicked, the height changes to 480px, and if clicked then, it goes back to 240px.

I can do this by just doing:

myList.height = 480;

Easy, right? Now, is it possible to Tween or Animate this change? If I do a motion tween and do a Copy Motion to ActionScript, it scales the component. I couldn't do a shape tween on just the bottom left and right anchor points. I'd like this effect, and as a bonus, easing would be super cool.

Any pointers?!

?making A Radial Loading Indicator And Animation Problems?
i have given up on the other preloader flas that i was working on, im starting anew, maybe people will actually help me this time, how do i make the load"bar" reflect the amount loaded , but do it RADIALY, like a circle (or a better way to say it is a PIE) that fills in as the content loads.

also, another question, when i try to open the page that my flash animation (just the plain old animation, not the preloader, the preloader just f***s up even more than the regular file) is on on my friends computers, it doesnt load, the browser says its loading the page, but you could let it sit there over the weekend and it wont load???!!!!!!!(ive done that, so take it literally) what the F*** is going on, its just a simple little animation with a sound file behind it, it SHOULD NOT take that long for people to dload it, of course i can see it in a decent amount of time on my comp because its cached, but even when i clear my cache, it loads fine on my comp.!!

Tricky Animation Idea Of Making A Log Break From One Side And Swing Back And Fourth
I have a question about doing some animation. i have a logo that looks like some lights with the name someone named simon and i want one side to fall as if it broke off the wall and swing back and fourth until coming to a stop with the right side still hanging on the wall in the exact same place. imagine a picture hanging on the wall one corner lets loose and the picture swings back and fourth. That's what i want to do. any ideas on how to do it. i've tried some ways but no luck. thanks for helping me out.

Whats The Trick To Making "smooth" Animation?
I guess the best way to explain what I mean is to show you guys.

Notice how the text just zoom in and out of there sooo smoothly (not to mention almost as fast as a blink of an eye-which makes it hard to analyze how its done).
How is this done? Do they use motion tweening or simple put a second instance of the image on another layer and move the location farther to make it appear that its "zooming" at the speed of light? Or is it how you set the FPS? More makes the animation faster?
Im asking because I can do a simple motion tween, but the effect, doesnt look the same.


Also on the last part of the same example,
How they make the audio amplifier image just seem like it 'warped' in there?

Need Urgent Help How To Combine Transition Class Tween Animation And Keyframe Animation?
Hi! I have a transitional tween class animation assigned to "mc_logo" on frame 1. However on frame 100, I have "mc_logo" animated on the timeline by regular keyframe animation.
I have assigned the tween class animation to "mc_logo" on frame 1 and the regular timeline animation starting on frame 100 does not execute now when I test the movie...why?

Do I need to end/clear the tween class animation so the regular timeline animation will work again?

Here is the code on frame 1 so far:

How would i implement this effect into a button I made that contains a MovieClip as the over state? ::

onMouseOut{
stop button's Over animation on current showing/playing frame;
then reverse animation back to start
OR
fade out current showing/playing Over animation frame, back to the button's load state (not over)

Playing A New Intro Animation On Release During The Previous Outro Animation?
I know about external swfs and having intros and outros, but I want my intros and outros to overlap...

for example, I want a background that's red and rotates when you click button 1, but I want to it rotate and change yellow when I click button 2, or rotate and change green when I click button 3...

I don't want it to rotate than fade to black and finish before the next animation has started, cause otherwise I don't get the smooth colour change from red to yellow, rather it's red to black than yellow...any tutorials that can help me?
