Movieclip With Action OnRollOver Affect The Buttons Inside It
Hello,

I've got a movieclip with an rollover function. The movieclip has buttons inside, but they don't work.
The action applied to the movieclip is the the scale (I'm using Tweener to make the scale action).

How can I resolve this issue?

MX: On Mouse Events Affect Other Buttons
I'm trying to build a small draggable flash window to display error messages in another bigger flash movie. I built it as a symbol, which includes the basic graphics, a hitArea symbol and an OK button. Thing is if I use some code like

this.onPress=function(){
this.startDrag(false);
}

the OK button loses its button ability. I know the onPress code is affecting the OK button cos if I remove those lines the OK button works again. I've already changed the hit area so that I can only click and drag on the upper part of the symbol, and the OK button is way below it. Any clues anyone?

Mouse Speed To Affect Volume?
hey,

Hoping someone can help me out. I want the speed with which the mouse moves to control the volume of an audio loop, ie when the mouse moves quickly the volume gets higher, when the mouse is not moving the volume is at 0. My mouse is already dragging a movieclip, so it would be ok for the speed of the movieclip to affect volume rather than the mouse, if that is easier.

hello! hope someone can help me out. I am a newbie using Flash MX and I have a basic question. I am sure you all have seen this on a lot of flash websites: when your mouse hovers over a graphic object or whatever, and an action happens. just in case, below is a link to a website that demonstrates what i'm talking about:

I've got a flash movie that is a menu with a photo that is approximatly 700x300. I want an action that will trigger when the mouse leaves the flash movie all together. Is this possibe?

Does The Server Affect Flash?
I created a dynamic hierarchical menu for my site http://www.ls3k.com

Each submenu is a separate movie clip that is set to _visible = false
When triggered they are changed to _visible = true

For some reason when I put the .swf on the remote server the submenus won’t trigger. However, they work fine on my local Dev server even when the embed string points to the .swf on the remote server.

I also went to another computer and tried it with the same results. When the HTML page is requested from my host’s server the menu doesn't work. When requested from the server on my computer the menus work.

Anybody have a theory as to why this doesn't work?
Remote server = IIS 5.0 on Win2000
Local Dev server = Apache 1.3.2.0 on Win2000

Wobble Affect Using Flash?
The Wobble affect (if I am not mistake) is not the same a the pendulum affect (which is done using sin and cosine, etc). I would believe that the two are quite different.

What are the algorithms to achieve the wobble affect. Are there any resources which shed light on this, or any mathematical formulas/equations???

Using Flash To Affect Javascript Code...
Sorry for the vague title...What I want to do is create a Flash photo album in such a way that as you scroll through, banner ads that are on the top of the webpage also change. Obviously, this is pretty easy to do if the album is Javascript...but I haven't tried it in Flash. Assuming this is possible, what, in general terms, is a good way to implement this?

Random question. If I have a site that (I think!) is structured well and works really well on my harddrive, what can cause it to be some challenges that cause different operation on the server side? Obviously connection speed is a factor . . . but that is why you throw up load bars, right? For example . . . images that are called correctly when I test the site on my machine work fine . . .but when I upload them, performance can be spotty and sometimes they won't load at all! Are there any common problems that people run into after they upload a site?

Since When Does The Type Of Computer (mac / Pc) You Use Affect Flash Performance?
I have this thing I've been testing, its not done cause I've been running into this issue..

The images show up on a PC
The images show up on an iMac
The images show up on a PC Laptop
The images DO NOT show up on a G5 Intel or PowerPC 10.4.9 - 10.4.10

I loaded the same exact site every time, cleared cache every time, etc.. but the images were fine on the above EXCEPT G5s.. How is this possible?

All they do is read a file from its own server, not external, load the bitmapdata and attach a movieclip. There are no relative /'s versus :: issues or anything.

The fact it works on an iMac blows my mind.

This happened only once before with this Motorola ad I was working on but I never went back to fix it. Anyone have this happen?

Want to hear more weird?
The images load so it can get the dimensions and stuff.. but it just doesn't load the BitmapData attachment for some reason. It loads just the BG Color you select for the BMPData. This is only on the G5 (so far).

Can Html Mouseover Affect Flash File
Is it possible to have a mouseover effect on an html hyperlink that affects a flash file?

We created a map in flash that I would like to have affected by the mousover of links on another section of the web page. The flash map has mouseover effects built into it, but I would also like some of these effects to work when one of the external links is moused over.

Flash Security - Would It Affect OnRelease Handler?
I have inherited perhaps the worst single piece of code project from a developer who left my company. The project is a weather widget that calls data and external SWFs from multiple domains. I am being asked to refactor the weather widget to work in multiple testing environments during a CMS conversion of the widget's host site.

There is an icon clip that loads weather icons (e.g. clouds) -- SWFs (they're hand animated, I think) -- to show the conditions. When there's a severe weather alert, however, based on the weather XML feed we're using, a static SWF is loaded in the icon spot. To that static SWF we add an onRelease handler to facilitate some functionality for describing the alert in detail.

Except -- it -- the onRelease handler -- doesn't work outside of the Flash IDE test environment. I can test it and the onRelease handler works fine locally in the Flash IDE. I am 90% certain that it will also work in the production environment because we have existing crossdomain.xml files in the production environment that have kept this widget working up until now.

HOWEVER -- when I post the file to sub-sub testing domains off the production domain, the onRelease handler fails.

Where is the rub? Is it a Flash security / crossdomain.xml file issue?

I am implementing a really good flash detection method found here:

i want to modify the script a bit so that when it detects NO flash or LOWER flash version, instead of displaying altertnate content, it redirects to a no-flash.php page i've created which is nothing but info about flash requirements and link to Macromedia flash area..

then i thought.......

WHAT ABOUT GOOGLE?!

Will the bot be redirected to my no-flash page all the time? I mean how does these bots crawl anyway? kind of regular access method right? so when the detection script checks googlebot out, and finds no plugin information, it keeps redirecting it to the no-flash (and no content) page... RIGHT?

i hope this isnt the case.. but if so.. you guys know how to fix this?

flash-bug.com sustains that AS code comments are evaluated by the compiler. I, for one, don't believe that this is possible, but that guy seems pretty sure about it and tells a nice story regarding Adobe and it's product.

Html Onmouseover Affect Flash File
Hi there,

I just wondered if there was anyway of affecting a flash movie by moving over certain HTML certains within a document. I think I'm gonna need to explain it more
Although I'm pretty certain the answer is no. I just thought I'd check.

Let's say we have a HTML form with three textboxes within it. Each textbox has some javascript function initiated onFocus(). The javascript function communicates with the flash movie in order to change it. i.e. Display something related to the textbox.

Any code samples are appreciated.

Mouse Over Action
i think this is the board where i'm supposed to post this question.......

i want to move my mouse all over the page and make certain parts of a photo on a layer disappear and have the other photo below it replace it.......when the mouse isn't on an area, i want the top photo to instantly reappear....

basically i have two photos and i want the top one to disappear in places where the mouse goes over it....is this possible? or something to that effect? i think it is, i just don't know how to do it....

i haven't worked on flash too long, but i do have a book and can't find the answer in there...please post if you can help me out--thanks, kelly

Hello .. i have a problem and i really can't get it right ... can somebody help me please ? In my intro screan there is a text called morreke ... I want this text to go to the right when my mouse goes left and go to the left when my mouse goes right ( and this in a continues loop. The html file you can see at http://users.pandora.be/morreke/flash/Movie2.html ! the fla file you van find at http://users.pandora.be/morreke/flash/Movie2.fla !! the text is airbus so it can be that you have another but that's not a problem.

Can somebody tell me how to do it, or do it for me ??

At www.ipexpert.com > select one of the four links on the top ( eks. partnerships )
There's four boxes to the right, each containing a picture and some text. When holding the mouse over one of the pictures, which is in another cell than the text below it, the text still change color, even when it's in another cell than the picure which the pointer is being hold over. How is it possible to make a target for on mouse over, or whatever they've done? I'm talking about HTML and not flash.

Please Help-Mouse Action Script
For the life of me I cant figure this one out...please help.
I have to admit I am no pro at this aspect of flash but what I am trying to do is have a mask move across the sceen right under the mouse cursor. IT WORKS, except there is a 2" space between the mouse and the mask at all times.

How do I reduce the distance between the mouse and the mask?

I have a MC (timer) inside a movie (main.swf) that has a timer, the MC (timer) loads Intro.swf onto Level 0, when it times out. I need to add a mouse detection to the movie (main.swf) so that when someone clicks anywhere on the screen the MC (timer) goes to and plays frame 1.

I have 2 buttons on my movie that controlls the timeline.

The rewind button has the following actionscript:

Then on the forward button I have:

This all works great. It skips forward or backwards 2 frames because the image on the timeline changes every 2 frames. When it reaches the end of the loop, you click and it jumps to the begining and vice versa. However, the user needs to keep clicking to get the timeline to forward or reverse. How can I have it continually move forward or backward while the mouse is down? Some sort of loop inside on(press) I expect. I cannot figure out how to do it. Your help is always appreciated.

Mouse Out Action Over A Button
I request if possible the procedure which relates to the mouse out action.
Specifically when the user places the mouse over the button, the animation begins to play, if however the user removes the pointer before the button animation completes, the animation returns to the rest, or mouse out state.
If you can point to any tutorials or resources or if you can describe this procedure I would greatly appreciate it

Performing An Action When Mouse Is Still
I am using flash mx2004 and I am trying to think if there is a way to perform an action when the user's mouse is still.

I want the program to play music when the mouse is moving, but stop it when the mouse is still.

To play the sound I use:

_root.pos=0;
_global.myMusic = new Sound();
myMusic.loadSound("song"+curtrack+".mp3", true);
myMusic.start((_root.pos),1000);

To stop I use:

_root.pos=myMusic.position;
myMusic.stop();

Is there an easy way to do this?

i want my inviz button to not show the hand cursor. i just want the arrow to stay the same

so inside a simple action i added the actionscript but it doenst work, it still shows the hand....this is what i have on the inviz butt
