Help With Sound And Picture Syncing
it's so frustrating to finish a flash animation that times out perfectly fine on your own comp, only to find it lags on others. Is there anyway to sync a sound track to frames so that if the frames cant keep up they get cut? anything that can insure it'll time out would be awesome. thanks in advance all you even read this

Sound Not Syncing In SWF
I am using Flash MX to make a new Flash movie. For some reason, the audio is playing way early for the entire movie.
Some basic info:
I am working at 24 FPS
My sound files are all MP3s.
It's fine in the FLA project, and when I output the movie as an AVI. I'm just having problems with the SWF. It's very bizarre. Anyone know anything about this? Is it a bug in MX?

Syncing One Sound To Another - Please Help : )
Hey there.
I am trying to create a site with several sounds. The sounds are activated when a user pushes a button. The sounds are all 4 bars / 100 bpm.
When one sound is playing (and looping), the next sound should start exactly at the same time as the other sound, so that the sounds sync. It is vital because the sounds are music.
The sounds are attached (attachSound).
Is there a way to do this ?

Sound Syncing
Im making a project using Macromedia Flash MX Pro 2004. And im having a issue with sound.
The thing is i want the sound to syncronize with what is happening on the timeline. When i play it in the MX program, it plays fine and just how i want it. When i export it, whether to HTML or Flash Player, the sound(song) does not match. I have read about event sound being based on playing when its fully loaded and Stream sound being where it sycronized with the timeline. I tried to fool around with the properties and export settings but nothing works and im clueless on how to make my Flash play in sync on the web as it does in MX.

Sound Not Syncing
Not new to flash but stumped here.
trying to get the sound i put on a character to play at the right time in the movie...seems it won't do it.
have exhausted all my knowledge:
a)have a preloader
b) put the sound first on the time line as a streaming sound, it played way too late then tried it inside the characters movie clip....that helped but now it won't play the whole sound.
Have made sure there is enough frames on the time line just in case.
The movie is 770kb as a swf....6MB as FLA
it plays perfectly when i test the movie or scene but after exporting it to swf it screws up.
anyone have a suggestion?

Sound Not Syncing
Ok, so I am doing a short movie project for a friend's birthday. I have about 4-5 scenes each with different content and most importantly different audio. The first scene plays well, and then in the middle of the 2nd scene the audio of the 3rd scene starts playing, the rest of scenes after that are completly unsynced.
Each of the audio files are set to stream and are positioned at the beginning of each scene.
Any Ideas?

Sound Syncing
Well, I made this, it originally worked fine on my computer, but now I had to make it sound overlapped on my computer, so that the server would properly transition it. However, some people may hear it overlapped, while others may hear it totally out of sync.
How do I fix this issue and get the sound to sync to the flash rather than the speed of the browser/server? Do I have to use attachSound? If so, can someone direct me to a good non-video, non-flash tutorial (IE: textual tutorial) that tells me how to do it? I used to try and do attachSound back in the MX Days, but attachSound would never work even though I followed the tutorials.
Oh and, I use ActionScript 2.0, since I dislike ActionScript 3.0
Also, I cannot use stream (defeats the purpose of endlessly looping a sound); nor can I load the sounds from a separate location/swf.

Sound Syncing II
I have some serious issues with sound syncing now. I have every sound on stream except for the title screen (which has to loop, no matter what.) I also have to loop something else at the end of "Zeehar2" Scene (It is also stream.)
But no matter what I do, the last two sounds (Both in Zeehar2 scene) both are terribly off sync. I thought it was a layering issue, so I broke up Music into Music and Music2 for layers. But it still went off sync. I even took off the loop from the last stream, still not fixed.

Note: I don't use actionscript for sound. (Also, sorry for the 17 MB File Size on the FLA)

Syncing Graphics With Sound
I know how to do this.. pretty much. BUT.... how do you make an led display to symc with the audio track. If you have a look at the 'sound fx' section on flashkit's site you wil see that it sync's. Very neat but mythed as to how they do it. Can any shed any light?

Sound Syncing Problem
I have a 7.75 second sound clip playing through my entire movies, overall 6 times. My movie is running at 12fps, so that means that the sound clip plays for 92 frames before it repeats again. Each one of my "scenes" (I didn't set up separate scenes, I just call each major change a scene) is 92 frames so the seocnd they start, the sound starts again.
My problem is that the first 92 frames go good, but slowly as the movie progresses, the sound ends up going faster than the animations and it ends with over 92 frames of no sound whatsoever. I did the math and this shouldn't be happening, and when I make it into a .AVI file everythign works 100% perfectly. But I need it in .swf form for a friends webpage so that won't work. I've noticed if I turn my .swf quality down while playing, it syncs a little better than before but still never perfectly.
What's a solution to this highly annoying problem? My .swf right now is 284kb... would a pre-loader help solve this problem? I've been wanting to add one anyways but none of the MX2004 tutorials on preloaders are of any help whatsoever due to lacking information etc.

Syncing Sound With Design
Hi everybody! I am a student working on a flash assignment for a college course. I am having an issue with syncing the sound with the design I have created. I have three rings that pulsate to the beat of the audio. When I play it on the stage I have no issues then when I test the movie it gets off about 20 seconds in and never seems to recover. I have tried a pre-loader and still nothing helps. I also tried messing with my publish settings and still nothing helps.
I have the file set up with 3 layers one for each ring and then the audio is on a track all alone. If anyone can provide some advice †ha† would be awesome! Thanks. I've spent about 6 hours trying to trouble shoot this and I am completely stumped!

I also got a sound file I'd like to use for the game. And I coded the sound to play when I test it (Not sure if this is the right way) But all I did was created a new layer called "Sound" and imported the sound and added it on the stage.
Here's the problem:
I want it to make it so that the arrow comes up when beats are heard in the sound file. In other words, syncing the sound file with the arrows coming up.
Sorry if that's a bit confusing.

Sound Syncing Strangely
Hello friends.
I am currently making a film using Flash 8 Pro. In one of my scenes, I placed and synced the sound exactly as I did in all the others. I set the sound to Event, because I'm using a Virtual Camera. When I exported the video, the sound was not properly synced (all sounds happened much sooner than they were supposed to). I tried moving the sound's keyframes so they could occur later (I thought that this problem was a result of visual lag), but the sound occurred at the exact same time it did before I moved it. I tried restarting Flash, saving and re-exporting, deleting the sound files and re-importing them, moving them to a different layer, and copying everything to a brand new file, but nothing has worked.
This problem is only occurring in one scene file, very strange.

Syncing Sound With Movie
i am trying to make an animated music video with flash 5. the soundtrack is a separate .swf from the animation because it is very large (650kb and 2700 frames @ 12fps.) i use sound option stream. in the fifth frame of the second scene of my "visuals" i use a load movie frame action to start the sound. however, there appears to be a small delay (2 or 3 seconds) before the sound starts to play. this does not happen when i use the version stored on my hard drive or test movie, only when using the internet.
how can i preload a streaming sound for a few seconds to get ahead and then have a frame action to start the sound exactly on a certain frame so it will sync up with the animation?

Syncing Sound To Image
At 25 fps, it seems like sound and images lag at runtime (but does not seem to when tested by pressing enter in a particular scene). Is there a way to make sure that sound and image sync?
(i.e. if sound lags, image would wait for sound, instead of going on, etc., and vice versa)

[CS3] Syncing Animation & Sound Controls
Hi, this is a bit complicated to explain, but I'll try. I'm using Actionscript 3.
I have a play/pause toggle button that's working beautifully. I'd like to sinc the soundtrack to the same play/pause button. So far, clicking play/pause will stop both the animation and the soundtrack, but I'm having trouble getting the sound to play again.
The play/pause button, 'p_p', is made with two frame labels: 'play' and 'pause', which allow it to switch back and forth. In the code below, 'soundtrack' is the sound. Is this enough to go by, and can anyone help me to restart my sound??

Syncing Sound W/keyframes Streaming, Etc.
okay,
i'm having issues with a movie i'm syncing voiceovers to. the movie plays great locally and remotely on my mac. i've got the voice over segmented into separate .wavs. the sounds start on keyframes that are synced to animations and then when they end another sound starts. I tore the whole thing apart and made it a simple linear progression with lots of frames.
The problem is that on a pc with ie (and pretty much anything else) the syncing is wrong and the frames don't seem to be matching the fps.
in other words I used an audio editor to check how long my .wav segements were and took the number of frames equal to the sounds length to play them and they don't sync up (they're set to stream) well on a pc!
anybody know of any development issues between platforms (mac/pc) with the flash player or flash itself???? help!!!!! W$%#$%@#$!

Problem Syncing Sound With Flash
I am having a problem syncing sound with my flash program. For one reason or another when I add sound to my timeline it does not play when its supposed to. I set the sync to stream but flash does not drop frames to keep up with the audio like its supposed to. I've even used actionscript to accomplish but the same problem exists. I think it may be related to my animation, using somewhat intense graphic manipulations.
Maybe slowing down flash is the answer? I really don't know at this point... Help! Any help would be much appreciated...

Help Needed For Attaching/syncing Sound Using AS
Hi.
I'm not new to Flash 8, but I am fresh-out-of-the-basket for Action Script. Here's my problem/question:
I want to have a song that I recorded be syncronized to the animation 'lip-sync' for when it is up on the web using Action Script instead of just having the sound file on a new layer. When I play the swf on my computer it is syncronized, but when i post it on to a website the sound/animation is off (or not in sync). I followed the steps for this tutorial: http://www.kirupa.com/developer/actionscript/sound.htm but I want the sound to just start playing in sync with the animation without having to click a button or doing an action to make the sound start playing. I realize that the sound in that tutorial is "attached(?)" to the button, or the sound is "attached" to something.
Basically I need help with the Action Script so my animation will be in sync with the sound when it is up on the web, because it is in sync when it is just on my computer.
I hope this makes some sense to you Action Script Experts and I hope I can find a solution to my problem.

Sound Not Syncing With Movement After Published
I am flash retarded. I dont konw what I am doing most of the time, but I created an animation and have people's mouths moving to the lyrics, but when I publish it in flash, the swf file, the mouths dont move in accordance to the lyrics of the music. What did i do wrong?
Also, is there any way I can add a premade loader to it after I already made the animation, and how do I do that. Please talk to me like I am 7 years old.

set mine to at least 24kbps and this will usually solve the sync issue.
Under the Flash Publish Settings I tried setting the Audio Stream to MP3, 24kbps, Mono and also to 32kbps a different time. Both still didnt sync. When I tried to change the Audio Event and publish it it told me there was a "sharing issue" which I assume was just a screw up in my computer because that stopped and it let me change it after a while.

Loading And Syncing Sound With Multiple Movies
Ok so I searched and looked through the tutorials and didn't quite find what I need.
I have several movies (swfs) I want to load onto one timeline, then play sound while they play. Each movie has a preloader in it. However I want to wait until all the movies are loaded before I start the sound. Is there any way to sync the two? Can I put a load script in the main timeline that loads all the swfs?

Syncing Repeated Sound With Spinning Wheel..
Hey guys,
I have a wheel of fortune style game with a wheel spinning and an arrow which should make a sound everytime is passes a slice of the wheel. Im using the Fuse & ZigoEngine to do the tweening. I currently have the sound being made and it works well reguardless of how fast the wheel is spinning (the sound speeds up and slows down with the wheel).
The problem with the approach that I am using is that the actual rebert penner easing equation function is doing the checking for when a condition is true to make the sound. I have tired capturing an onTweenUpdate event from the ZigoEngine but it seems as though its never accurate when the wheel starts spinning fast because the code in the event listener cant keep up with the wheel speed. Also when I use the event listener all i can access is the _rotation property and then I run into having to deal with the rotation going into negative space as opposed to the easing function which just puts out the current total rotation at that current point in the tween.
Basically what I am looking for isnt a specific answer of how to do something but maybe some thoughts and oppinions on how I could do this without having to invade the actual easing equations, It just isnt very OOP or organized in my oppinion to have to do that.
So with that... what experiences if any has anyone had with spinning a wheel and sending out events when the wheel is at certain points in its rotation? Has anyone done this before or does anyone know of any examples of something similar. Any suggestions of how I could do this differently?

Each of the 33 plays a different audio-visual loop when clicked. on clicking on one of the blocks to load in a swf from the 33, i need it to wait for the others (if they've already been clicked on and something's subsequently been loaded in and started playing), to come to the start of the loop before it starts to play. each mini swf will prelaod on click, so after this it then needs to queue up to wait for the next point to start playing. this will be every 2000ms or so. Imagine the swf waiting for the next bus to come along, to hop on to join his/her other two swf friends, if you would (if they're on the bus at this point).
I know setInterval is notoriously bad at accurately calculating loop lengths on different pcs/macs of different processor power, so onSoundComplete seems like the best bet, though the code for each sound is set in each mini swf, where each's library mp3 loop is stored and attached from.i think this might be an issue?

Video With Sound But No Picture
Using flash 8 I have created an swf file with embedded movie which
works fine when i view it after publishing to the web server however
several clients who are looking at the page which contains the movie
say they can hear the audio but cannot see the movie, as suggested they
have upgraded to flash player 8 but still no joy. This is not
consistant as others i have show the page to can see the clip fine. I
am thinking it could be a player I really dont want to go into a whole
dialogue with people who want to view the page. Pulling my hair out at
the mo as i cannot get my head round where the problem exists, why they
can hear but not see!!!

I'm sure you understand why, it's pretty obvious. The problem is that the speed of the film varies from computer to computer and because of that the sound does too. Streaming Video But No Picture Just Sound
okay --- when click on the site the video should automatically play -- which it does, but all i hear is sound and see no video. anyone have any clue what i can do to fix this. p.s. --- it takes a few seconds -- about 11 seconds -- to hear the sound by the way
also -- i have used the media display component and added the url to that and also used the mediaplayback component and added the url to that as well -- do i need to do that? or is it overkill

External .flv: Sound Plays, Picture Does Not

I am truly stumped by this problem. I have used the code suggested in "cool effects & practical action script" on p. 260 to get the external .flv to play.
The strange thing is, the sound is there, and sounds GREAT, but there is no picture! What could be the problem?

Sound Linked To Picture Space ...
Hi all,
I have a professionnal project for a website.
My main problem is that I have to code something that I guess I'm not really capable of. Actually, I'm a graphist, not a coder. So I need some lil' help.
Here is how it goes :
My site is 1000 pixels wide and coded in AS2.
Let's say we have a wide picture ( something like 5000x600 ) cut in 5 differents atmosphere side by side ( each are 1000x600).
I'd like first to have this whole picture scroll to scroll left or right when my mouse is going to one side or the other. Could be cool if there was some acceleration in proportion to the distance from the center of the site. This should be not too complicated to code. Well we'll see if I succed.
My really question is ... as I must have a mp3 playing for each part of my image ( so 1 mp3 for each of my 5 atmospheres ), what could be the easier way to have this working with an effect of cross fading between the different sounds as I scroll at my image ?
I have think for now of 5 images side by side, and a sort of "play sound" on rollover each one. But I don't know how to get my cross fade effect.
If you have some ideas of something to aim to achive the effect, I'll be very gratefull.
This is to me a good place to start seeking for a solution.

Streaming Flv File Can Hear Sound But No Picture...

I'm doing something wrong, I believe, I can see flv files if I use the flash component - but I want/need to load it with AS.
When I load the FLV via code, the video plays its sound, but no image... I'm a bit lost as to what I am missing...

How Can I Get The Picture To Change Color And Have Sound At The Same Time?
can anyone tell me how can i get this result for the flash file i attached;
1. make the sound appear (i could not import the sound to the library cause the file size is too large),when the user clicks on the black square on the stage,
at the same time.....
2. make the sound appear when the user press the key on the computer keyboard, "a" ,
3. make the square change to another color (eg: black square to a blue square)when the user does step 1 and 2.
i tried using this code.. but i wouldn't work:

I am looking for some help with this. It seems like something that can easily be done.

I am looking for the user to be able to upload their picture, and then the picture loads into the flash file. once in the flash file, they can move their picture up, down, left or right, rotates in a circle, and also click a button that makes their picture smaller or larger.
I am working on a project for my family, so they can put their picture with an actor and I wanted to know if anyone could point me in the right direction for this?

Upload Picture From Database, Transform Picture In FLash
Hi, all.
I just want to do a test: I made an swf file that is to be embedded in an html web page. Inside swf I want a picture to be upload from database ( for customized purpose ), say ASP, or XML. And new picture will replace that old one inside swf. Further more, e.g. I upload just a picture that is a piece of tile. When it appears in swf, it should be tiled 5 by 5 and transformed for perspective. Is that possible with AS? if yes, could anyone offer help? And how to write interface code -- ASP or xml communicates with FLASH, to upload picture from database? Thanks.

Hi all!
I am currently creating a few characters to add to my website with a sound clip. I want to make the characters sync with the sound to look like they are talking.
My sound clip has music in the background, so I can't just go by the squigly lines to sync my characters.
My question is - is there any way to hear the sound frame by frame, without having to keep playing the whole thing?
