Hi all,i was just wondering how Barratt Homes (http://www.barratthomes.co.uk/) do their carousel. They have over 200 homes on display and when you click one it opens up and describes where it is etc.

Alternative Return To Home Button For Carousel
I am currently using the Carousel III for a navigation model. Ive got the nav to work perfectly but am struggling as I want to add a home button in a side menu Ive added myself. I attach the 'unReleased' function on release and all the other icons return to the Carousel structure except for the icon which is highlighted. What Im looking for is almost a 'reset' function to initiate the main Carousel. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to put code that when a user clicks a certain button it opens their home page. Since many don't have Flash 8, which is what I am using, the user won't be able to edit the Flash file they download from me. I would like the button to simply take the user back to the home page of the domain from which the Flash movie is located. Can I type / or ../ or something like that? Can I use PHP? Thanks

Problem: I have two scenes. In one scene i have a HOME button within a MC; within a MC; within a MC. The other scene is my main scene(HOME).
Question: When i press this HOME button, how do I go from this buried button in one scene back to my main scene(HOME)? Any actionscripts? I am at a loss.

Help With Home Button Please
I have an scrolling image gallery in my site and I have a home button that has 2 actions: unloadmovienum and gotoAndPlay(2) to the homepage.
Here is the problem, if you just look at an image really quickly, the home button works, but if the user checks out more than 2 images the home button does nothing. and you can't get out of the gallery. Its so frustrating! and I don't know how to fix it.
Any suggestions?? ideas? I would appreciate any help!

I have a movie clip in frame 1, scene 1 with a "return to main page" button on it.
This movie is always visible no matter what other movie is playing.
The script on my button is:-

}
The "index" being the name of scene 1
This doesn't work though, could someone put me right please?

Home Button?
Here is my problem. I want to make a home button! sounds easy, but here are the concerns. I have my main scene, on this scene I have 3 different animated menu boxes (MC). When the page loads up these menus are displayed as a home page. Now I also have my buttons on the main scene which when pressed calls the menus targets and tells them to disappear so I can have other stuff appear on the same scene. No here is my problem. I have a home button that when its pressed should bring me back to 3 menus, and at the same time clear anything else.

my problem is that once all 3 menus are displayed (meaning at home), and I hit the home button I don't want it to display the menus over and over again. The code has to see that the menus are already displayed. Only when they are not visible then the home button should work. My code is very simple and I know it needs more. I think I confused myself there too, so I hope you guys did'nt get confused.

1.7MB Home Page
I'm putting together a site and have just put up a temporary home page until I get the rest done. The problem is that it's 1.7MB. How do I slim it down so it loads quickly. The address: www.pearnotes.com. The images have been saved in Photoshop for the web and are all only about 16K each. They've been saved as movie clips and have been motion tweened, fading in and out. What do I need to do to bring the size down?
Home Page Set Up
I know that in html all you have to do it name your home page index.html in order to make it the first page or "home page" of the site.
How do I do the same for a site that is completely done in flash. I tried naming the file index.swf but I guess that is not the way to do it because it does not work. So my question is... How do i get my swf home page to be the first page that comes up when someone goes to the sight?
I am sure it is a simple thing, but I can't seem to figure it out.

I'm just about done with this site (thanks to help from the awesome members of this board) And I just have one little error that I need to get corrected.

If you go into it, click on "MUSEL", then click on "Application" a small description comes up, with "Download Application" in bold. If you do download it, the movie goes back to the load bar and stops at 100%. Try it for yourself, you dont even have to dl it, just click on it.

I attached the following code inside a swf movie with a button, but it didn't work.

I have the 'bookmark us' button working, and I have a button set up so the user can set the site to be their home page, but I can't seem to get it to work!!

On Press, Returns Home
What I want, is for a movie clip, to animate(move) at a specific rate to a predefined x/y coordinate. Similar to the "Movement-pointer_or_click.fla" found in the samples folder of the flash mx directory. Difference is, I don't need the movieclip's rotation to change. Also, instead of clicking the actual location where I want the movieclip to stop moving, I want to click a button that sets the end location. I trimmed the fat on the "Movement-pointer_or_click.fla" to understand it better, but no luck. I attached that file.
Where can I learn an easyer way to do this.

Dreamweaver Home Page
I would like to have my homepage in dreamweaver the size of my image,but it always expands I want it to be a fixed size.The same way when i use flash it allows you to have a fixed size.I import the image into dreamweaver which is approx.. 500x 600 or so and I view it in explorer it looks awful.I just want the window to be the size of my image.I am using dreamweaver 4 right now..

Im making a game, where you basically are a god and control a whole bunch of people, and one of the features I want to have is the ability to pick people up and drop them. If they are above 50 units high they die (Ouch!)
I have been looking for a gravity sim code, but havent found one, and the one I made, didnt work (The guy went flying across the screen then died.)

This is going to be at index.html in the client's server space. When the
movie is done playing, I want the main site page, home.html, to automatically appear.
I can't find any info on this in Flash Help. I tried a Flash getURL actionscript,
but it's not working. If this is the way to go, can someone hint how to debug?
Or is it a Javascript?

I'm trying to make flash come up without Explorer around it when I type in my URL, but I need to have html page as my index page in order for it to pick up... Does any one know how to do it? In my Flash application my homepage is 400k which might take a little while to load for dialup users. I have created a different swf for each page in my app. I would like the main page to not have to releoad if a user wants to return to it after having gone to another page. I am familiar with the loadmovienum command. Would I use this to keep my home page loaded so a user doesn't have to redownload it? And if so how do I manage other pages? Would I just load and unload them on level one while maintaining my homepage on level 0 and hiding and unhiding it? If there is another method I am all ears. Thanks so much for your help.
One more question. Will a preloader prevent any of my application from begining (sounds, embedded movies) until the entire movie is loaded?

I am new at flash. When I make the home page do I just put a backround or do I put evervything on it (menu,banner and picture).
Then how do I do a page for the contact page (do I copy the master page and just add what is need) .

It works fine at home, but on the web it doesnt work properly at all. I've allways sucked with preloaders and this is my first time with xml and flash gettting info from an xml doc.
What this should be is a small gallery swf, that loads all the pics listed in my xml doc and then displays them in thumbnail form.
There are 12 frames. al with action script on them. All frames except for the last contain a mc called loader which holds all the dynamic text fields. I know the code is dirty, but it was my first time with xml and flash.

Home Button Not Working
I am doing the exact same thing with the other buttons, but the home button does NOT work. I have labelled the first frame "home" and pointed the home button on various pages to it. I can't get it to work. I have also tried using the frame number (1). Any ideas?
Using the "gotoAndPlay" behavior, fwiw.

Flash With OS X Home Directories
Hello
I work in education and am having problems when I try to use the Publish Settings or Publish Preview command with OS X 10.4 and network home directories. Basically, when I try to publish a website or goto Publish Settings, I get an error saying "No valid HTML templates are available to complete this operation". The HTML templates are actually in the users home directory but seems to have trouble finding them. When I try this as a local user it works, just a problem with home directories.

If I just knew what to call this type of flash would help a lot. I do not believe that it is a flash gallery or flash slideshow.
My Nightmare Week - Try This At Home
I have a working Flash site at

and development version which has a problem at

Try the development version and click on "Request a catalogue". You'll find that the combo boxes don't work. On the live site they do. I was pretty sure the two sites are currently the same but my version control isn't foolproof so I swapped in some .swf files from the live site and hey presto the dev site works. But what's the difference? By a process of elllimination I've narrowed the culprit down to the main .swf that hosts all the rest but I can't find anything wrong with the code. I end up buying Sothink's decompiler in order to compare code in the working .swf with my current .fla and guess what - no difference. Many hours have passed and not much other work is being done!
I make a standalone version of the request form, it works fine. I make a host MC that loads the form into a placeholder MC, now it doesn't work. So I start from scratch - two Flash files, one with a single combo box component, the other with a placeholder MC that loads the other. On its own the combo file works, loaded into the other it doesn't. What on earth is happening, this is basic stuff and it doesn't work! Not only that but I have a website that proves that it used to work. Desparate now, I re-installed Flash - no change.
So, any ideas? Does the simple test file work for you? Create a new Flash file, drag a combo box into it, add some data and labels, publish as combo.swf. Test it. Create another Flash file, draw a rectangle and convert it to a symbol, give the instance the name comboPH_mc. Add one line of code to the main timeline:
comboPH_mc.loadMovie("combo.swf");
Does the loaded combo file work? Mine doesn't and I've run out of ideas.
Any suggestions gratefully received!
Button Home State
I have a website with flash buttons and I need the button of the current page to be on the over state and not be clickable. The buttons are in a single flash file that I have put into a web page as a nav bar. I have tried the _url method to try and identify the button state with the url of the current page, but that didn't work, obviously because it only gives you the url of the button itself. I just want a better method than creating individual navbars for each page. Thanks for your help!

Help Preloading Home Page
I'm having some probs figuring this out....i have all my external swfs loading into an emptly mc.....but i also have my hopepage loading into this empty clip at frame 10 of the root. My prob is that the preloader won't recognize the home swf (28k) at frame 10, and that it may need another preloader just for itself. I want just one preloader for the root timeline. If i put the home page swf into the root timeline, how do i get it to unload when i want to load external swfs? Is it possible to unload swfs from the emtly (content) mc? Any Ideas?
Keylistener Not Working For Home Key
So I've got this code running:

And it doesn't work. I've tried adding a trace on it, and it appears that flash isn't even seeing that the home key is being pressed. The code works fine if I make the key one of the arrow keys.
I also tried putting the number for Home (36) instead of the word home (so it looks like this (Key.36) ) but it still doesn't work. Does anyone know why?
EDIT: So it appears that it DOES work, but only if the focus is on one of the input text boxes...
Finding Home Directory?
Is there way to find your home directory in windows using Actionscript 3.0? I want to find the directory and read a file from it, I do not need to write files and cannot use Air/Projected file.
Preloading Home Page In As3
the only way i know how to create a preloader to home page, is to make another swf which loads home swf.
but this is no good to me because when my home page loads i am than reading from an xml file some images and some text to load into a home page, which means i still have to wait some time after my home page loads...
so basically my preloader doesnt do what it should, or at least not what i am expecting...
how can i make it preload all what i have in my home page and then loads the home page?
