Hello every body, I wonder how I can make fonts look sharp & clear in flash 5, specially when I use small size.
I've seen sharp clear looking fonts in many flash sites, could u help me Plz.

Please view the location map animation I have done. I have one problem in this. The text is not looking good in the movie. I tryed with several fonts but the problem still exist.
You can see the text written in the map.. and the 'open menu', 'close menu' buttons those are pixelated... How can I solve this..

Fonts In Flash Look Blurry, Not As Sharp - Can This Be Fixed?
ive been looking at the text when publishing a flash movie in mx2004 on a mac and i can't seem to get the text to look as sharp. the edges seems pixelated or blurry and it stops me from making my text size smaller or else it become unreadable.
i have noticed that it is common with macs ive used, but after using pc, the text comes out much sharper.
i know flash doesnt handle text very well, but is there anyway of improving this? when i use illustrator and photoshop, the text comes out nice and sharp, but once i try to type the same text in flash, its all blurry and the colours arent as vibrant and dynamic.
am i using the wrong fonts? i use the standard systems fonts and it still comes out blurred edges. are there any fonts people can recommend that looks sharp in small text sizes in mac osx. ive seen peoples flash pages made using a pc and their work looks dynamic and the text looks sharp. do i have to adjust a setting in flash or something?
i want the text to look as good as the text in illustrator or photoshop or any text editor.

Fonts For Sharp Text - Possible In Flash? Very Important, Please Read
Well, when it comes to Flash technology, it is really interesting how much stuff you can “afford” to create. But one thing that I, and clients, are often irritated over – is difficult to manage sharp text in Flash.
The big question is – why? What I have been notice by practicing Flash, is that as text goes smaller – it becomes unsharp. Not jagged but unsharp. So one possibility is come around this problem is to use function “use device fonts”. But unfortunately that doesn’t work of you want for example to use Bank Gothic Medium BT font for body text with 12 size. Not at all.
To bad because this Bank Gothic Medium BT (found at flaskit.com font section) font is a “typical” FLASH style font. So any suggestions on how to solve this problem? Maybe it is so that fonts like Bank Gothic Medium BT are not made with high quality perception in creators mind? Don’t think so.
Please tell us or give a suggestions on how did you, actually if, you solve this problem.

Sharp Fonts
can't get clean sharp fonts, I've followed a few tutorials, kept sizes at intervals of 8 etc,etc but still seems blurry when published.
a font size of 8 is also way bigger than i want to be using!!!!

Sharp And Crips Fonts
Is there a way to add fonts to Flash that is "crisp" and rich that looks similar to that of HTML document? I tried to play around with Flash's font settings and even imported Photoshop's file but its not the same as that of HTML. Any tip on how that can be accomplished. Thanks a lot!

Fonts For Flash Sharp Pix In Flash
this may sounds really stupid but i hv no idea how thye did it!
there are many great flash sites where the fonts used are SUPER SHARP and CRISP..i wonder how they do it without comprismising the brandwidth. I not sure if they are pixel fonts marketed by some foundry but i suspected not. so do they do it???
In addition, some of the their images are really sharp and the images screen size are considerably huge as well

Sharp Bitmap Fonts While Scrolling

Is there a scrollbar that moves pixel by pixel, so that the text written in a bitmap font is always sharp ? ? ?
I have included the .fla, maybe someone can help me with an idea where i can put the math.ceil() tag to get clear numbers of the mc position. This is a solution i just thought of...

Crystal Sharp Custom Fonts In MX?
I've messing about with this all day now and my size 12 custom font is looking kike it is gonna have to stay in a furry fluffy anti-aliaed state unless I don't find a solution. I mean the goddamn center of my "O"s and "D"s are filled now.
So, what have I tried?
Well, firstly I thought I'd try and be smart and make my text fields Dynamic, only to find that it don't mean jack diddly unless the user on the recieving end has the font.
Then I tried embedding the font by selecting the "Character" button and Embedding All Characters. Now, that worked, but for some reason made my text a bit blurry even in Dynamic mode.
Lastly, I got brave and looked into the Linkage of the font from a shared library on my server. In the myFont.swf I chose New Font, selected my font and then Linkage "export in first frame".
Then in the main.swf (where I wanted the font to be used) I dragged the my font from the myFont library to my main movie library, made a textfield in main movie and selected myFont* from the font list, published it and uploaded both to the server, only to find that not working at all.
Someone told me that Flash won't share the font if the textfield was made to be Dynamic. Macromedia's support site beg to differ.
All I want is my font to be displayed without evil anti-aliasing.
Anybody help me?

Fullscreen And Sharp Pixel Fonts

How? Can I Make My Titles Sharp
Hi all, and a happy new year!
I'm making a part Flash, part HTML site. I want to make the titles to the pages really sharp, crisp. I understand that doing text in Photoshop is a NO GO due to the program being bitmap. I have been tring out Illustrator, (never really used this program) havn't had any good results???

How Do You Make Sure That Fonts Are Embeded In Flash MX?

where (if any) is the tag which ensures the font is embeded in the text properties?
reason for this question is....
when i created my movie, i used some pixel fonts from 'minifonts.com'.... I have read all the info which came with them and have adhered to all the specs required.
(ie. dynamic text, no kerning, use only 12 pixels for the font, set movie to pixels, etc..)
And when published on my Mac at home it looked great... however, i have just tested it on a Windows 2000 machine, and opened it in both internet explorer and flashplayer, the font has completeley changed to the system default..
can anyone help? as i dont want my site to look as if it uses times roman!! Arghhhh!!

URGENT: Font Troubles...how Can I Make Flash See My Fonts?
Hi! I have an urgent video problem for a client. It is a series of animations, and I need to do some editing, in FCP. First i need to export the animations from flash....with a large amount of animated writing.
The problem is that I have downloaded and installed the fonts needed (Simpsonfont, Ren & Stimpy, Comic Commando)...but flash refuses to see them! They are in User and System font directory, and they work with all my CS2 apps. My question is how can i make flash see them?. This is a real problem for me! If anyone could help I would be most obliged...

Flash Within C Sharp
I have a Flash demo that is going to be used with C Sharp as the container.
The Flash demo has the usual mcs within mcs.
Can a C# button communicate within the movie clips?
When Flash is playing and is running the ball_mc and comes to a "stop" frame action, can C# use a button to tell it to continue onto the next frame within that movie?
I'm not the programmer on this but the C# dude can't find a call to continue within the movie, it only jumps to the next frame on the main timeline.
Any help will be appreciated.

How Do You Get Sharp Type In Flash MX?
I've got problems with type I've set looking pretty choppy in flash MX. It's been viewed on all sizes/resolutions....sometimes it's okay...sometimes it's gross....I'm most concerned about the black body copy

Swf Is Blurry In Ie7 But Sharp In Flash Player
we recently had a flash header done for a site of ours. The header looks great in flash player 9; but blurry when viewing in ie7 or firefox. This is most noticeable in the logo and pictures.
Does this have anything to do with the export setting from within flash? Any suggestions welcome.

Complicated But Amazingly Sharp Graphics In Flash
Hello,
I searched throughout the forums but couldn't find a definite answer for my question. I was wondering how people make complicated sharp graphics such as in http://luvgalz.kimasa-crew.com/ or http://www.criminalclothing.com/ . If you zoom in as far as possible, you will still see that the edges are nice and smooth as if they were totally done in flash. How do they do this? Do they animate their stuff completely in flash, do they import it some special way, or do they make the originals in PS and then trace over them in flash?

How To Make Cleanest, Sharpest Fonts?

Embedded Fonts Make Text Disappear
Hi everyone,
I just vanted to rotate some dynamically created text fields. the embedFonts is set true. Adobe and every book I have says that the embedFonts allows text rendering, like rotation. But as I removed the rotation, suprise, suprise,the embedFonts itself makes text fields disappear.
I also tryied to put an empty text box on the stage with the font embedded and works only without any rotation or rotation set to 0.
I don't understand. Do you?

My problem now is that I wanted to use a special font (frenchscript mt) for the captions in the dynamic text field. I've done all kinds of embedding inc. the new font symbol embedding method but nothing works. I test if embedding was done by removing the font from my fonts folder. But when I do this, the captions become Arial I even tried to put a plain dynamic text field on stage using the special font, but the same thing happens when I remove the special font from the fonts folder. What can I do to make sure that even users without this font will be able to view the caption in the special font??? Pls help, thanks very much

Flash Fonts And Server Side Fonts
Hi,
I'm creating an application where users upload their images with flash and edit them. We are placing text over the images, and we allow the users to choose the fonts in which they write them.
The co-ordinates are saved to the application database and the server side code dynamically writes the text on top of the images.
I know in order for the server side application to write in the selected font it must be installed in the server. I am wondering what my limitations on fonts that appear in flash are ?
How can I increase the number of fonts that will function on both the flash application and the server side application? The application is being developed in as 2.0, but could be moved to 3.0 if this helps.

Sharp Edges
i'm having trouble getting my edges to look sharp in flash. i've drawn a small box, and when i go to preview it it looks blurry. i've got some boxes that were drawn within my background in fireworks, and those looks clean when my background is saved as a jpg and imported into flash. not sure what the problem is....anyone got any ideas??

Graphics Are Not Sharp. Why?
I working on a project where I use these little mc's only 1 px in height (7 px width).
I want them to have sharp edges at all times. They have sharp edges but only until I start animating them. Then the mc's start to blur out. I have tried with both bitmap graphics (imported from Photoshop) and Flash-drawn graphics but it's all the same. So I have a feeling it has to do with some kind of property or something inside of Flash.
I'm sure someone else has experienced the same type of problem - and it has probably been posted on this board before too. I've tried searching the board with no luck so help would be greatly appreciated.

Sharp Jpegs
Hello flashers......... Is there a way to keep jpegs looking very sharp???. When I work on my site, I size my images in photoshop to the final size they will appear in my site and save them as jpegs ( should they be safe as PNG). Then I import the jpegs to the library then I open the Bitmap Properties window and I uncheck the allow smoothing box and the Use imported JPEG data box and set Quality to 100. I do this for all the images that I import. Once I finish that, I convert each image into a graphic so I can manipulate the image, like changing the alpha or create a tween. All looks great until I publish the file. This is when the images look shoft, sometimes have lines or look pixalate. Please take a look a this website whose images look amazing.

Sharp Corners
Hi there,
I have a pretty old version of Flash, MX I think and I'm simply trying to draw a box with a 5px outline that has sharp corners. I've checked the 'sharp corners' check box in the custom settings for the outline but I keep ending up with a box that has slightly rounded corners! It's driving me mad, can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong???

DrawRoundRect Is Too Sharp :(
Don't you guys think the drawRoundRect needs a "smoothing=true" or something to make the rounded corner better?
The default mode is toooo sharp
I tried for a few times and finally find the effect is rather poorer than using a bitmap instead.
Or anytips for that?

Image Not Sharp

Crisp Sharp Text
Hi all.
a simple question that i cant find the answer too..
i am trying to create sharp text at a small px size in MX, worked fine using the tutorial which says to create the text as dynamic text / mulitline with wrap / postiioned to whole pixel... but when i test the movie, there is no text visible, so i change it too static text but the text is now crappy and not sharp, so can someone help me out and explain what i am doing wrong and how to get sharp text at a small size as seen on some very cool sites???

Sharp Pixel Graphics?
I'm trying to bring some small 5X5 gifs into flashmx
that are simple pixel graphics created in photoshop.
The problem is that flash makes them look cruddy.
I've turned off smoothing from the library pallete,
brought them in as gifs and pngs and cranked up the quality.

Sharp Loaded .jpgs
ive searched everywhere to try and find a trick for this. when you load a jpg into a movie, and resize it to a SMALLER size no matter what, why does it become discusting and unsharp? i could understand it being stretched out if i was making it bigger but it is being made smaller. is there a trick to keeping dynamically loaded .jpgs sharp? thanks for any help.

Text Problems - Not Sharp
Hello all,
My first question on this site - I am having the following problem and don't quite know how to resolve it :
Enclosed please find a file in 2 sectons :
1. Original - This is a screen shot of what the text looks like in Flash 4.0.
2. Browser - The same text as seen in the browser ( my monitor is set to show at 24 bits )
These is a BIG difference between the two. The text in Original.jpg is sharp ( i.e no fussiness ) and dense ( i.e. black text looks black ).
The same is not true for the text for Browser.jpg - It looks soft and faded - What is supposed to be black text, infact looks grey.
As flash verctorizes this type of data, I do not understand why this is the case. All text ( large and small font ) is from the Zurich family -
a non-serif font.
Also please note that as the fonts get smaller, the problem increases.
Also I have the "Publish" setting in Flash is at "Highest" quality setting level.
The white colour text at the botton also seems less while in the brower version - The same can be said for the orange coloured text on the upper righthand side.
Kindly assist me with this situation.

Sharp Image Question
I have a question to ask, i wonder if flash can produce a sharp and good image just like showed below?
I use adobe photoshop to make them, i spend a lot of time trying to make a good picture using flash mx but somehow i cant make it. Can someone tell me please?
Beside, i try to copy the picture into flash, there are a white box around it, so i use magic wand tool to remove it. However, the magic wand cant 100% remove all white area around it. So i wondering how you do it
