I’ve be researching how to download .zip files on a server from a link in flash. When the swf is on my computer the getURL call works fine. When the swf is on the server it no longer opens the zip file. I get this error message:

Action canceled

Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested. The page might be temporarily unavailable.

I have come across some documentation that has a solution in Flash version 8. I need to implement this in Flash 6. Do you have some insight into this or can you point me in the right direction?

Unable To Load Swf Files In Flash
Hi,

since creating all the animation in one flash file will produce a big file i tried to split and create small flash files and load these files in the main flash movie using the image and swf loader component.

eg.
main.swf, sub1.swf, sub2.swf.

In the main swf , buttons are created to load sub1.swf and sub2.swf.
The action script on button 1 is

on (release) {

//Movieclip GotoAndStop Behavior
this.gotoAndStop("sub1");
//End Behavior

}

where sub1 is frame label. the image loader loads the sub1.swf file starting from this label. Everything works fine locally but the swf files are not loading when i test in my server or remotely.
can anyone please help

I have a flash header and am also using the sIfR text replacement for my <h4> tags. If a file is not in the root folder the flash movies do not play. This is my file structure.
newSite(folder)
index.php
publicWorks (folder)publicWorks.phpparks (folder)parks.phpThe flash works great when you view index.php but the other files do not load the movie.

This is the PHP code, I know this is the flash forum, but the PHP code works on all includes except flash.

The sIfR is called via javascript and the paths are correct, but the flash movie doesn't load.

What is the secret to having flash work when it is not in the top level folder.

Finding Files To Load Into Flash
My problem i think is with targeting. I try to use actionscript to go get a certain file, put in a certain spot within my flash document, and I get the following error message in my Outcome menu:

Help With How My Pages Load In Flash Files
Some swf files on some of my sites are say 1100 pixels high, if I have a button at the bottom of the page using this code

the page opens but all you can see is black until page loads as you can no longer see the logo or the preloader that are in the index page.

Is there anyway I can make the page jump back to the top when a new movie is opened using the code above ?

How Can I Make Flash Load Htm Files Into Their Frames
Hi friends...Iam making a website containing 2 frames.One of these have the flash movie and the other(i names it mainframe) is supposed to load the rest of the htm files.The problem is that the buttons (in the flash movie) arent loading the htm files into the frame but opening it in a new window or in the same window.

My QT files names are "03.Uprock.mov" and "04.futurism.mov".

How Do I Load External Mp3 Files Intop My Flash Movie
Ok

Well i am a bit embarrassed as I ave made some movies so far that are not that simple but as yet I have not found out how to load in mp3's

I want to be able to load a mp3 file dynamically from outside the flash movie in the sense that it doesnt have to be in the library. It can be loaded dynamically like a text file.

So I click a button and the mp3 is loaded in dynamically and streamed.

Can someonme show me how to do this. Would love if someone could send an example .fla to my email address so i could see how they did.

have tried loadSound etc so if someone does have a working example where mp3's are loaded I would be most grateful.

please only send to my email as i cant download attachments from flashkit for some reason.

any idae of how to control the volume of the track with a slider and using sound.setVolume

I have a gallery on my website that uses flash to get the images externally via an XML file. I want to now make different "albums" (now i have only the one) using the same gallery structure (because it actually works for me!) but don't know how to alter the code in the actionscript.

right now i have one XML file called images.xml. the actionscript attached to the flash movie frame is this:

BUT now i want to make other XML files in the same directory but don't know how to "call them" without calling images.xml. can someone help me? it's a little time-sensitive, and i assume this is a simple question for anyone who knows flahs and XML..

[MX04] Can't Load Flash Files Directly From Browser
I'm really new here, so I don't know where to post my problem. I'm posting it here just in case.

I can't open Flash files in my Maxthon Internet Browser... I just installed Flash MX 2004 (with an update to 7.02) in my PC due to a reformat. Embedded Flash files in a webpage work fine, but when I try opening them directly (I mean typing the URL of the file <example: http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d121/vytalibus/Hitorijime.swf>), they don't load!

I don't think my browser is the problem. I tried using IE as my browser, but the same problem came up. I concluded that there's something wrong with Flash.

And the silly thing is: Flash files saved on my computer DON'T LOAD IN MY BROWSER. However, they play when I open the files.

Help! I'm using Windows XP.

I know how to Dynamically load external JPEG and SWF files in to flash but i need to know a way to load and play external sound files like wav's and MP3's. I need to be able to have a script that loads a sound thats in the same folder as the swf and be able to load it by name only. And when it's loaded i need to be able to control it with start and stop commands. I hope this is not to much to ask.

Flash Player 8 Wont Load Xml...all Files Local...

I am using flash 8 to make a flash 7 swf

in the swf I load an XML file.
all the files are on my local machine.
when i test the movie in flash, no problem.
when i test the exported swf in flash player 7, no problem.
when i test the exported swf in flash player 8, it calls the:

function loadXML (loaded) {}

function, but fails.

Ive tried to put at the top:

System.security.allowDomain("*");

Even though I am NOT loading anything outside of my local machine, just incase.

If this is a security issue, how do I resolve it?

I have a container .fla movie and would like to load consecutive external .swf files. Right now I have a play button triggering the loading of the next movie, but what I would REALLY like is a smooth transition from .swf to .swf using a listener so that the next .swf will load once the previous one has finished. I have a counter which determines the next .swf in order.

How Do I Load External SWF Video Files Into Main Flash?

I need to know how to be able to load external SWF video files into a main flash movie via buttons on the main flash. What I am trying to do is to show video clips in a window on the main flash movie. I know I need to convert the video clips to flash first. Could someone tell me how should I convert them in flash professional 8, then have on the main flash movie different play buttons which can each bring a certain clip to play in a window. I'd like to be able to also allow the viewer to control the audio of each clip, as well as pause the clips, start them over again, etc. I'm just trying to allow my viewers the choice of which clip they want to play into a window on the main flash movie and be able to control them as well. I'd really appreciate it if someone would help me. It's really hard to find a solution anywhere else.

Best Structure For Your Flash Site - How Do I Load Multiple XML Files?
I'm trying to use Mark Angeletti's excellent structure (http://www.sitepoint.com/article/structure-flash-site)
to solve my preloading problems. However, I'm having trouble loading an array of separate XML files. Here is his code for Frame 2:

BTW I don't understand what "loaded" is doing here. What is this importing? Nothing that I can find... from the above code. How does it know if loaded is TRUE? Please explain.

I don't want to use his system of firstChild.childNodes in the function because my XML files are very simple - just heading and plain text. All I need to do is import all 43 of them. So I tried creating an array in the Global Variables import Frame (1) and going through them like this:

i have a bunch of news headlines that are from a text file, and i want them to link and load another movie clip on another section of my page... i have figured out how to link URL's but i cannot get it to link a movieclip, or, another textfile...

i want the movieclip to load into a already running swf file... is it possible for flash to do this?

In test mode the output window will show you an error if the
file cannot be found.

Is there any way determine if there is a file error when not in
test mode? Is there something equivalent to the LoadVar if (success)?

I tried to load a movie in to a target, but when the movie loads, it replaces the whole swf (not only the size of the target)

Hi, I have a big problem in loading swf files!

I have three swf files, named “Film1.swf”, “Film2.swf” and “Film3.swf”

OK, “Film2.swf” load “Film1.swf” via loadMovie and it works perfect!

Now, “Film3.swf” load “Film2.swf” via loadMovie. But here I have the problem, that only the “Film1.swf” is loaded, NOT the content of “Film2.swf”

I have the source files on this destination!!! They are very small, only one frame for each ot the three MCs!

Is it possible to preload .swf files in the same manner as images, using code such as:

My SWF Files Do Not Load

I uploaded a website www.brickhousestudio.com and two of my swf import files do not work. When I run the html on my computer everything is fine, however it is not the case when I send it to the host. I have three buttons that load swf's and only one works. I don't think I did anything different with the two malfunctioning buttons or swf's.

Files Don't Load
I have a movie that works just fine locally on my computer. When you open the movie it opens a menu. The menu is used to open other swf files (using the loadMovie function).

When I gave the movie to another person, it worked fine locally on their machine. When the person copied and pasted the folders onto their server problems occurred. All of the menu links work fine, except the first link. It won't open the other swf file. All of the files are on the server in the appropriate folder.

My first thoughts were that I had some sort of absolute link for the first menu item, but then I realized that it ran fine on the other person's machine before it was up on the server. Why will this work locally, but not from the server?

Load Txt Files
Hey.

I was wondering if you could import *.txt files into flash. I have done it once before, but have forgotten now. I think it is something like

loadMovieNum("*.txt", 1);

But I then cant remember how to put that text onto a dynamic text field. On the text file i have got a prefix of '&data='. Does that do anything? If anyone can help, or tell me what I am doing wrong, please do.

I was trying to feed another param to the onLoad function but it wouldnt take anything else except its "success" param. And I know that its clearly wrong (the prefix param that is)
