First off let me start by saying this is a great site lot of info and the info is really understandable. Well that being said.

I am an extremely noob at this Website thing so let me tell you me predicament I bought Macromedia’s Dream weaver 8, Flash 8, Fireworks 8. I wanted to start on the right foot of web page making so I also bought the Lynda.com Dream weaver 8, Flash 8 tutorial DVD for beginners and after a few hours of watching and practicing I downloaded a few Flash Templates so that I can start editing and getting some practice. It came completely in flash with the red I con.

Now for question how and with what program do I edit the Flash site? I thought I could edit in dream weaver but it seems I can. Can someone help please?

[CS3] Edit Swf Video... Need A Free Solution
Hi all,

i have a swf video that we've had for a couple of years now. the problem is we have changed the name of that dept of the business now so i need to remove the logo on the first few frames of a swf video.

the only s/w i can see to do this costs £$£$ - obviously this seems to be a waste of cash to edit 2 seconds from a video especially since we will be using cs3 suite and flash video for newer stuff.

can anyone recommend some FREE s/w i can use to do this?

or would anyone be willing to edit 2 seconds out of the goodness of their hearts?

im really pissed off that yet again adobe premier cannot import anything ive tried at it - total waste of cash

How Do I (edit A Template Site)...
I will try to keep this short. I bought a flash template from boxedart.com. I was so long ago my reg expired along with my support... thus I seek help from the willing. Template url: http://www.boxedart.com/phpshop/info.php/mp_/16427
The robot arm swings off screen grabs a frame swings back, on that frame a .swf movie is displayed... Now what I would like to do is click on one of the four pictures in that frame and have the arm drop the frame and fetch a new frame like it does when you click the "about" button along the top. Each frame the arm grabs is a stand alone .swf file I have made many other frames but cannot make the arm grab them. (stupid robot).

Help Required To Edit A Website Template.....please/
Hi.

I am in desperate need of some help to edit a website template.
I have very limited knowledge of Flash and know even less about xml.
I am hoping that someone will be kind enough to point me in the right direction.

This is the template.

The editing is done in Flash for the appearance and xml for the text and images.
There is no Entheos software involved.

I have located the pages layer and can make changes in respect of where and how big the text blocks are and general layout of individual pages.

I can edit the text from the xml document via the file menu and selecting edit with â€™XML Editorâ€™.

So far so good.

However, if I want to remove an image or replace it with a different one I get â€˜100%â€™ either where the image was or over the new image. (I have replaced the image in the source file to change it for the one I want.) Some images on the pages are links to external sites. I do not need this facility.

The next thing is more complicated (for me at least).
There is a scroller on the â€˜Homeâ€™ page which I would like in the same place on the other pages from the menu list except for the â€˜Contactsâ€™ page.
I thought that if I cut and pasted it from the â€˜Homeâ€™ page it would be OK. It sort of works except when I navigate back to another page from the menu everything disappears. By navigating around the site it all eventually comes back.

The reason I want a scroller on all the pages is that they will hold a link to a second page. I have managed to edit the â€˜Homeâ€™ page successfully like this.
Basically the website is for information only. Each page from the menu is a manufacturer and the info in the scroller is a list of products. The info link takes you to another page containing a brief description of different models in that product range. Each of these models would link to another page which would contain a more detailed spec sheet and photo. My major problem (apart from not knowing jack..) is that I donâ€™t know how to put in this extra page with a link from the second page and a back button in the Flash document and then put in the right xml code to facilitate it. I have scanned the xml document for clues by looking at whatâ€™s there for the current stuff, but, as you can tell this is not my forte.

My final problem is how to move the â€˜Contactsâ€™ page to the top of the menu list, because it will be a â€˜welcomeâ€™ page and not be called â€˜contactsâ€™

Am I asking too much?

I will try to give as much info as possible for anyone who may be able to or want to help me.

Any advice will be most gratefully received.

It is a very basic, empty design and needs to have content added to it.

Need Quality Designer To Edit Template, Paying Job

[CS3] Is My Goal To Edit The IMAGES In A Flash Template?
Newguy here:
If I want to edit a flash intro to a premade template, I need to edit the IMAGES...correct?
For example;
I open the temp, flash, images...there are about 5 that say something like..
backo1, back02, back 03

All are the same but the images show the progression of the flash.
Now, if I want to edit the text, (I asked in another thread and apprantly it's not possible to edit flattened .png), I have to somehow edit those images back01, back02..etc.
Am I thinking in the right direction?

Free Flash Template In Exchange For Actionscript Help
I am trying to add buttons to navigate key frames that are within a movie clip thats within a movie clip

I would be willing to provide the complete fla if someone could explain how this can be done.

1. click on the "projects" button which loads a movie clip made of key frames. Each key frame is linked to the buttons in the menu system with the 4 pictures. (above)
2. I would like to be able to load 3 different versions of the Projects Image Gallery key frame just with different pictures ie: current projects, past projects and future projects. I added the "Past Project" text button and used the actionscript from the main menu system (above) but it screws up the entire navigation system.

Template Monster Fla File Gets Buggy After I Edit Some Assets
Hi I purchased a template and would like to add my logo to an mc. When I do, some navigation buttons stop working correctly. I added a graphic to the logoMC and now the next and back arrows in the newsMC dissappear on rollover.

How To Undock/ Move The Edit Panel/ Edit Toolbar
How do i move (drag) the Edit Panel. The Edit Panel is at menu:
Window > Toolbar > Edit Bar.

Moving Text On A Free-from Area ? (free Curve Scrolling)

Swithching Function From Test File To Template? Loop Isn't Working In Template
Hello everyone,

I've finally come back to my original document that I need this function to work on. There's a problem with it continuously looping to undefined when I move it from images1-1 to bubba1-2.
Bubba1-2 is my default template that I need to make this work on.

I've placed a zip file if I'm not making sense, for someone to help me on this little loop problem.
I think the problem is on line 116 of bubba1-2, when I tell it to loop again.

images1-2 is what I'm trying to achieve in bubba1-2.fla

I know it has something to do with me calling my xml function all over again. But, I cannot figure out where my problem lies.

Contact Form In Template Monster Template

Copies Of Flash Buttons - Edit Each One? How To Edit Multiple Copied Buttons
I am creating a website using a flash template, my first venture into flash. The side links are all flash, where I had to add about 5 additional buttons. So I copied one of the buttons and pasted multiple copies of it. I was able to reposition each one correctly so they are move correctly. But I can't figure out how to edit each one individually? Any change I make to one, is made to all of them as well.

I am using Flash MX 2004 and any help is greatly appreciated!!

Enabling Your Clients To Edit These Xml Files Or Txt Files In An Easy To Edit Format
Okay so this is an issue i've faced since day one and am growing tired of not having an ideal solution for. I've learned to create files that can be updated via xml or simple .txt to make the updating process easier, but how do you gurus out there bridge the gap by enabling your clients to edit these xml files or txt files in an easy to edit format like your basic cms... but except it would be cms that would update the xml or txt file and then in turn update your swf file.

I'm sure you guys out there rely on many different solutions but i'm just looking for some enlightenment on the different ways to accomplish this and what i could possibly do to be pointed in the right direction.

Hi i have a problem here.

I am trying to have 2 person kicking a ball to and thro each other.

I will have a button on each of the person, so that when u click on it, they will kick the ball.

How I do it, is have the two person and the ball all to be a mc.

On the button, when the person clicks onto it, if the ball timeline is at a certain frame, it will play, else it won't.

But I am having trouble referring to where the ball stops(the frame label).

Also do I did to follow a IF with an ELSE??

using flash mx 2004 i had standard labels on my radio buttons. i then use this main movie inside another so i can have an external preloader. everything worked fine, but i must have changed something, because now when i test it, the labels dissapear. When I test the main movie they are still there. But using the preloader they are gone. and when the movie is tested they still work the same, the labels just left. any idea as to what caused this?

Preloading With Labels
I already know how to make preloaders however i want to make a preloader with percentage increases (25%, 50%, etc.) I can learn that from tutorials online but the method i want to do that is with labels. If the label isn't near the preloading movie, you do not have the option to select it from the dropdown menu when you select what label you want for the "If frame is loaded ()"

Now what i'm asking is, i need to kno how to identify labels that may be within other movie clips and scenes. I know to identify movie clips you use ../(instance name) instead of the usual /(instance name). how do you do it for labels?

Also if how i'm doing it is impossible, plz suggest another way. thanx

I have a text field that offers the user to insert text. Say I have a label that tells the user to input their email address or someone elses. Then they can click on a button to Send the info.

Frame Labels
Flash 5 Question: In a short .swf, I am placing frame labels on 1 track, however, each time I insert a frame label, it converts the previous frame label to the same label. If I then fix the one that changed, it then remains correct. What am I missing?

I'm passing a variable which holds a frame label to a function which tells a movie clip to go to that frame label.

Example:

aLabel = "section1";

function launchLabel(whichLabel) {
gotoAndPlay(whichLabel);
}

launchLabel(aLabel);

Flash is not reading the variable whichLabel correctly. whichLabel is passed as a string, but the statement gotoAndPlay(whichLabel); is reading whichLabel as undefined. Is there a way for the method "gotoAndPlay" to call a label using a variable?

Frame Labels
is there a way to address a frame label like you would a frame number? I'm making a radio and its a living nightmare for me to use raw numbers to advance to the next track. right now I've got this for the next track button

if (_currentframe > 1 && _currentframe < 8659) {
gotoAndPlay(8660);
}

and so forth to advance tracks.... each track has its own lable though... like "Song1" and then "Song2" . What I would like to do is say something like:

if (_currentframe > "Song1" && _currentframe < "Song2" - 1) {
gotoAndPlay("Song2");
}

how can I do that? Or if there is a better method can someone please tell me? this has been driving me nuts.
