Piece Of Paper Flip, Not Page Flip In A Book
Could any body direct me to a tutorial or just give me advice on how to go about doing this: i want to make a letter come out of a envelope and flip around and then show what is on it, i am not sure how to create the paper flipping around , i did see some page flip tuturoials but i dont think that is what i want technically, any help will be greatly appriecated, thx

Does anyone have any example FLA files of how you would achieve a book that flips pages. I am not concerned about the animation of the page flipping, I am more looking into how you could have a book with around 50 pages flip from page to page as you clicked forward or backward.

I found one example posted in the movies section but it was a SWI file, and I want to it in Flash.

My problem is that when I click on a page to turn it, the page flickers, or disappears for a second.... This obviously doesn't look very good and I'm not sure why it's happening. I thought the preloader would have loaded all the jpegs at the start.....

All my images are in the library as jpegs and i have static text on the pages in flash.

The book is on Scene 2, with the preloader being on Scene 1....

I am really in need of help here as its due next week!!!

Book Flip?
Anyone ever do a book flip? I want to create a book where it opens and displays photo's on each page on one side and the other side has text. Can someone help me out here? I have not seen any samples anywhere or I would post it for you all to look at to see what I want, but I think you know anyays.

I have the document in MS Word and am using a flipping book component for flash. I can upload a jpg for each page or a swf file. I wonder if there is a tool to automate the creation of individual page files. Does anyone know anything about the subject. For a newbe like me the instructions are pretty tough to understand.

At the moment i´ am want to create such a book like this but i have problems with the conversion. To create such a book and the corners in Photoshop isn´t really a problem but the action script. In a german board somebody said i must use this code:

Search In Flip Book Using Xml
Hello every one,

I want to create a search field for the flip book.

I have a page flip component in one file. It accesses data from XML file.
XML file contains the names of the swf files to load in flip book.

These swf files also access its data from another XML file.

Now I want to create a search field which searches for the specified word in all the pages and highlights that word.

I'm not getting how to access data in the swf files (or in the XML files) from the file having flip page component??

Pretty confusing!!

Pages For A Flip Book
I am very new to Flash 8 and have created a Page flip book. I need some help on getting each page turn to display a different page. Any help is greatly appriciated.

i was trying to load this movie in nested movie clip.
But it couldn't work for me.

There's a book component in book.fla. i have attached the file. you can view it.

Its loading an external swf file named pages.fla.

the file is working pretty fine. but i want to load this book in another external file. The structure will be look like:

Main Stage -> Book -> Pages

I want to make a dynamic book page flip. Therefore i bought on-line the software. When i preview my 'book' in flash cs3 it works. When i replace the swf file to a pc (i'm working on a mac) the book is not loading. Why is that?

Saving of the "animation". (on the web)

From my understanding, it seems that in order to save the "drawn" animation, we would have to save the details (drawn positions, drawn frames, strokes, etc) into a database, together with a unique ID. Thus in order to play back this specific "drawn" animation, a "player" or "shell" swf file will take in the ID, retrieve the "drawn" details from database, and redraw it to be played.
Am i right to say that this is the only method in "saving" the drawn animation, or does Flash 8 caters a better/faster method?

From that Flip Book website, i read that their offline version saved the "drawn" details into a format called .SOL. It's refering to the flash shared object, also known as "Flash cookie" right? So it's like basically doing the same as above, but not saving to a database right?

Well, i'm not expecting a full "How to do" the above type of responds (although i don't mind), mainly i just hope to seek confirmation that the methods i'm using is correct, or are there better and faster methods out there.

Flip Book Problem
I've been using the flip book that is at http://www.iparigrafika.hu/. It's great and works really well, but I'm having a problem with the buttons. The button to return to beginning works if I preview it in FlashPlayer or in a browser, but when I upload it to the internet it doesn't work in any browser. I don't understand why. The code I've used to get it to return to the first page is:

I saw this cool page on how to implement a proper flip page. Any ideas on how they came out with it? I'm experimenting with multiple masks, close... but no cigars... damm...

Flip-Book - Help Needed
I made a Flash flip-book using this .FLA file:
ActionScripts (example + .FLA)
(if help: the script is inside the 'Bound Pages' movie clip).
but need to know HOW to add a 'summary' or 'index' page with links to each page and a back link to that index. It could be a good help to navigate a flipbook with 82 pages!

Flip Book - Wants To Know The Structure

I have a sample flipbook which let's external swf files load into it.

But the external swf files are getting generated using a tool called pdf2swf.

I want to place some buttons in the swf which was generated through pdf2swf. Any idea how to do it. or anyother way of doing it?

I was wondering if there was a tutorial for a book and page flip effect?

For example, there is a open book, and when I click on a page, it turns to the next page. A tutorial would be great because I'm still learning.

Mouse Listener On Flip Book
Hi.. i'm making a portfolio site.
I have the main navigation in one clip that loads up a blank clip with my work in it.
One of the clips i load is one of those flip books. It looks like a virtual book.
Anyway after the flip book loads i have to turn off the mouse listener before i unload it so that if someone wants to look at it again the mouse listener works when it's reloaded.

So.. i need to A- turn off the mouse listener and B- close that movie clip. From one button.

Below is what i have. This doesn't seem to work. I think i have to unload the movie clip from a button in the main navigation clip?
Can anyone help? It's not as confusing as it looks.. have a go.

[F8] Help With Imaging In A Flash Flip Book
Hiya Gang,
I'm working on a flip book for a magazine and have been using FlippingBook for the bulk of the project. I've run into a snag though ... I have to convert a PDF to JPG so I can insert it into the flip book and, even at the highest settings, I get pixelated text. At the intial view it looks okay, but zooming in you can see some of the corrosion of the font due to the image format. Anyone know of a work-around for this? The page setting that I'm working with is 600px by 776px @ 300dpi or less. Many thanks in advance

Hi everyone!!

I run an online music mag in Sydney called Stone Free..and we're using a flash flipbook program. If you visit the site & look the style, you'll notice the pages load as each new page is visited.

I've seen others that pre-load. So for example, by the time you reach page 30 the page has already loaded.

Can anyone direct me to where i might be able to buy this? and if so, is it much different to the existing program we use currently?

Hi there. My name's Nick Dismas and I'm currently working towards establishing myself as a freelance illustrator. I came across this site through a Google search after typing in "Flash help" after getting stuck whilst redesigning my website.

After spotting that there's also a forum for artists I reckon I'll be hanging around here once my initial Flash queries are resolved, and so I'll tell you a bit about myself.

I'm 24 and I live in Manchester, England with my long-term girlfriend.I've got a mum, dad and sister. By day I work in a call centre for a mobile phone network and by night (or whatever free time I have) I draw.

I'm currently working on a series of illustrations for HalloweenComics.com which I'm hoping will be the first of many professional illustration gigs to come.

And that's about all there is to me.

Hi there. This is my first tech post on this site. Posted a brief personal intro in to Coffee Lounge but not sure if it came across a bit spammy so might no get posted.

I'm pretty much brand new to Flash and I think maybe I'm trying to run before I can walk here, but I'm redesigning my website and want to include that old chestnut the Flip Book. I've got it all working fine and I can get my pages loaded on there, but the one bit I'm having trouble with is getting the Flip Book bang on centre of the movie - which I want to be the exact width of the Flip Book when it's open, with a bit of room at the top and bottom for the pages opening / folding.

So, can anyone give me some tips on how to get the thing centred? Do I have to do it page by page and component by component, or is there a way I an move everything at once?

I'll have more questions, but want to get this sorted first. Any help you can offer would be great.

Adding Extra Pages To Flip Book
I found this cool page flipping fla. I tried to add extra pages by changing the maxPages number, it adds an extra page but it throws up a comment in the output box saying

Error: A 'with' action failed because the specified object did not exist.

I can't figure out what else to change. Can anyone help me please? I've attached the fla.

Flipping Book Button To Flip To Page?

My boss decided to purchase that flippingbook thing and now I'm doomed here trying to find out how to use it... I generate a book with no problems, added pages, created the xml stuff... no problems... but I can't seem to find out how to make buttons and hotlinks to control the pages. For example:

I have a book.swf that loads the component. I put an instance name myBook on it. The xml calls for pages like page01.swf, page02.swf and so..

on the page01.swf file I made a button trying to access a function from the book component:

}

I have very little experience with actionscript and there is no reference on the manual... I wonder if any of you can give me a hand on this...

Page Edges For Flash Flip Book
I'm trying to come up with a solution to enhance a site I'm working on and wanted to see if I could get some suggestions. This is the site

What I want to do is to bring in some realistic page edges that also look like they go with the book. I tried a photographic background (mockups here, and here), but wondering if a vector drawing might work better. It's also important that the transition from the book being closed with edges only on the right, to being open with them on both sides be smooth. I have a script that should manipulate the background images based on that but I haven't tested it yet. Any ideas for the best way to do the page edges?

First off, I'm new to Flash, but I can learn.

I have spent the last 3 days searching the web trying to find a good flip book / flex book solution for a business idea. I've come across products ranging in price from FREE to $3,000, stand alone to hosting services.

A search on this forum produced a link to GG-Book extension for Flash which I have yet to explore. However, I also came across information published by Ely Greenfield about his FlexBook. I am wondering if his solution is availbale as a Flash extension. I have not been able to find any information on exactly how to use it.

I am looking for the ability to zoom pages, have links to other pages in the book (TOC) or the web, the ability to play sound or video on the pages, hard & soft page turns, and really CLEAR text. Many example I've seen produce blury test..

If necessary I will pay a few bucks, but free is best.

Flash Flip Book - Stream Video
I need to have this done before 5 today...

My boss gave me this Page Flipping Component from:

I have to put a streaming video file onto page 9.
I'm using the flash media component and an .flv file

The problem is, the video starts playing when I'm on page one.
It does not wait til I get to page 9 where the video is.
The code posted on the demo of their site is in a jpg and when I type it in flash
I may be messing something up, I do not get any errors though...

I need to know how to make the video play when it gets to page 9
and if the page is turned, then stop the video playing.

Flash Flip Book Script Troubles Using MX2004
Guys, I downloaded the PIXELWIT FLA but i am having trouble adding more content to the pages. I can make as many pages as i like but the content for the pages are not showing up. I get an error with a with statement.
